Israel has every right to defend itself againt the Palestinian terrorists. The constantly send rockets streaming into Israel. I can't understand how someone can think they should just sit back and allow that to happen as men, women and children are dying. These are civilians, not soldiers.
Also, does anyone remember how the Palestinians were dancing and rejoycing in the streets on 9/11 when 3000 American citizens were murdered by terrorists? I for one will not forget ! And we, collectivly as a nation, should never forget !

vdifr9: You read too much Israeli (Nazi) propaganda. The Palestinians are defending themselves from the Israeli oppression. But then again, who cares about these people, they are only "Arabs" and even Palestinians for that. These ???dogs??? have no right to a home, food, shelter, or a decent life.

And for those of you who don???t want to know, many of these 3000 victims of the 9/11 terror attach are NOT US citizens, I also think the largest minority were southeast Asians, Arabs, or Moslems (not that is makes a difference, but we need to recognize that the victims were from all over the world)

  • Posted By: vdifr9 @ 01/24/2008 1:38:36 AM

I can't for the life of me believe that people can actually blame Israel for this mess. I guess they are supposed to ignore the rockets that are being fired into their neiborhoods, killing men, women, and children. Remember, these are civilians, not soldiers.
And I also can't understand why people can't remember the images of Palestinians dancing and rejoycing in the street on 9/11 when 3000 of our civilians were murdered by the terrorists they support. I for one will never forget that day and their reaction. And we as a nation should never forget !

Gavind: So you imply that is Jewish 's fault, when they been slaughtered by Nazi at Warsaw Ghetto. If no uprising they will enjoy life much more? Those heroic Jewish people should not garner sympathy all over the world?

    • Posted By: qwickb @ 01/24/2008 1:30:04 AM

look at them now > Gaza is the new nazi concentration camp> wake up people

  • Posted By: Finney29 @ 01/24/2008 12:50:46 AM

So, for people who use these biblical arguments about Israel???s "right" to the holy land, it would be then logical for the Native Americans to terrorize, kill, and starve the children of these European ???immigrants??? to death, and reclaim ???their??? land, right?. I can???t fathom any logical person advocating Israel???s ???divine??? right to Palestine.

With power comes responsibility, and Israel has shown no respect for human life, or for the desire for peace, only for a "piece" of land that is the homeland for millions of Palestinians.

Israel is the REAL terrorist here, and many enlightened Israelis realize that. History will record the events of the past 50 years to be as dark and unjust as the Nazi Holocaust.

  • Posted By: snero @ 01/24/2008 12:40:03 AM

Taobsu, now I think that you clearly see the differences. The Jewish nation accepted the UN plan of dividing the land between the Jordan river to the Mediterranean and to establish two states, while the Arab leadership refused to share the land, and launched the following day a deadly attack on a civilian bus traveling between Jerusalem and Tel Aviv. More than 90% of the Israelis accept today a two state solution. On the other side you have people like Jafra that offer the Israelis only two options: Leave under Palestinian regime or leave.....
Instead of condemning and blaming Israel all the time, a more balanced view of the conflict putting at least equal responsibilities on both sides, would be much more efficient towards establishing peace in the region.

Time to do tshuvah. Time to get off our armchair (or couch, office chair, etc.) soapbox and start taking a look at ourselves, how we can improve. Imagine if we used all this energy spent in acerbic banter to do an accounting of our own actions and see how we can better ourselves. How else can we effect change? Peace will not come through politicians or PR. We must merit it.

I still don't understand why Egypt has border patrol and this is deemed ok. I think they should help the palestine people

  • Posted By: rivki613 @ 01/24/2008 12:11:32 AM

It's time for tshuvah, people. TIme to get off the armchair (or office chair, coach, etc.) soapboxes and start improving ourselves, rather than pick apart the opinions of others. How about some introspection? Becoming more accountable for our own actions? It's the only way change will ever be effected. Influence people with our positive examples rather than our acerbic orations.

I don't understand why egypt put up a wall. Give me a break. I think they should get some flake for that.

    • Posted By: taobsu @ 01/23/2008 11:57:59 PM

The wall was put in place by Israel force when it occupied Gaza. The purpose is to prevent arm smuggle into Gaza. Are you a Chinese? Your name look like a Chinese.

      • Posted By: huao @ 01/24/2008 12:08:02 AM

No, but thanks :) I don't think egypt should be border patrolling though. I think they should let them in.

I do not know if it is a PR victory for Hamas, but I do know that a lot of ordinary Palestinians did suffer. The fact that Israel caused this suffering did not help. Also the fact that US is a provider for Israeli economy and army contributes to the dim view that Muslims have of the American efforts at bringing peace to the region. So, it is not the so called militants, who won, it is the strategy of oppression that foundered. You cannot make people forget their deep wounds by inflicting more of the same. You can try pacifying them with better living conditions, with better chances of education and better opportunities to prosper. Branding them as terrorists and making them outcasts will only make them more determined.
But the trouble is that it is somewhat late in the day, the divide is too deep. At present the best approach seems to be that Israel should be prepared to give more ground and of course, no more sneaking around the treaties with more illegal settlements. The American government also needs to develop some backbone dealing with their Jewish lobby., if they want peace in the Holy Land. The whole of Palestine is Holy Land, Israel included.

maybe Israel should just launch missles back at the locations the missiles are launched from... I know if sandiego was being attacked by lunatics across the border in Mexico, the USA would not tolerate it for one day... why isreal is expected to put up with this nonsense is beyond me. the arabs need to stop making war on israel. they refuse to do this, and yet they garner sympathy from people. the arabs are in the wrong.

SeanTy, If the west did not support and arms this racist state, it would not have survived that long. But they used it as a canon fodder to protect their interest in our region, which is oil. You obviously don't know much about the conflict and those whom you defend. I understand them really well and I know that they have no connection whatsoever to the land as we do. It's a good economy that keeps them there. When the first Gulf war started, it took several cheers from the people of Gaza to make the occupation soldiers freak out and run out of its cities. When you fight for something good, nothing on earth can stop or destroy you. Apartheid S. Africa was stronger than the indigenous people and the they won and the strong state was dismantled and that didn't happen in the 10th century.

    • Posted By: SeanTy @ 01/23/2008 11:58:45 PM

No sir. I do not defend either side. Frankly, I am tired of both sides. However, I do believe that the rest of the world should just move along because there are actually people who "want" to be helped elsewhere. Alright, I am checking out of this conversation. Good night.

Why do those who provide history lessons on the creation of the "Jewish state" fail to mention that its origins are based in the thousands of years ago, and purely religious. If someone from far away came to my neighbourhood and explained that this land was his because he read somewhere that some holy being told his ancestors so thousands of years ago that his people ruled this land then... and then proceeded to take said neighbourhood... well, I'd be fairly angry too.

    • Posted By: Jollyho @ 01/23/2008 11:56:18 PM

Dipp you have your history all wrong and thus show you are a complete ignoramus. The roots of the Jewish people, their culture, their language, their practices did come in biblical times. The bible is historical and there was the Jewish nation from over 3000 years ago through Jesus's time (the country was a Jewish country and practices though ruled by Rome, until the Roman destruction when the Jews rebelled against the Romans in 63. The Jewish people were exhiled but always tried to return. :Politically, it was impossible after this dispersal until the 19th century when Nationalism began to be recognized and it came time for Jews to live in the only land that was ever theirs. If you buy stolen goods the goods do not belong to you but to their rightful heirs. The Arabs came after the Jewish people were forced into exhile always praying daily for their return and suffering atrocities year after year - including Arab "host countries." The land was in steady decline until the Jewish return which also sparked Arab immigration as well. Arab countries after Israel was founded kicked out their thriving Jewish populations - in Iraq, Egypt, Lebanon, etc. The Jewis their owned more property than the property that became Israel. I think equal trade. Arabs have many countries and culturally, linguistically, etc. no difference between Syrians, Lebanese, Egyptian Arabs and Palestinians. So you have 1/2 the land you started on - big deal. Israel is an amazing country - Arabs turned their country into ***, not realizing the tremendous resources of land 100 times the size of Israel, just fixated on destroying Israel . Israel turned their country into a gem, absolutely the brighest place in the Middle East. Have peace, rebuiild, have your one of 22 Arab states alongside the only Jewish state.

  • Posted By: SeanTy @ 01/23/2008 10:55:17 PM

Taobsu, I think you are ignoring one fact -- peace is only possible when "both" sides want it. And just a thought, what do you think Israel will do if they are hit with the weapons you have described? The Palestinians are not stupid. They are in a political, not religious, struggle, and they understand the consequences of such action.

    • Posted By: Jafra @ 01/23/2008 11:11:10 PM

SeanTy, Mandela refused to lay down his weapon as long as apartheid continued in South Africa and he spent 25 years in jail. Jimmy Carter said that the situation in Palestine is worse than aparheid S. Africa. We will never stop our struggle until the last apartheid regime on this planet is dismantled and a Palestinian state is created. Those Jews who don't like that can use their other passport and return to the countries they came from. At least 62% of them have these passports and can always return to their home countries.

JAFRA, YOU ARE THE RACIST. ISRAEL HAS ARAB CITIZENS. ISRAEL HAS ARAB MEMBERS OF PARLIAMENT. YOU ARE A LUNATIC, AND REPRESENT YOUR INSANE PEOPLE QUITE NICELY.
        YOU SNIVEL QUITE WELL.

  • Posted By: pablito @ 01/23/2008 11:55:16 PM

Gavind: your comments are racist. And your country is the lead aggressor in the world, one of the few countries that attacks without provocation and bombs the crap out of innocent civilians. Your secretary of state Madeline Albright thought it was worthwhile to kill half a million children in Iraq to stop them from getting WMD then once the US had stopped them from getting WMDs they lied and invaded them and have killed another half a million innocent people. Arab attacks in israel are (however misguided) the closest thing to self defence in the Israel/Palestine conflict. Israel is OCCUPYING Palestine it is therefore NOT self defence for them to murder Palestinians. Your logic proves you can only see the world from a white point of view (ie you are racist).

Gavind, If the Mexicans want to liberate California, New Mexico and Texas, which are Mexican territory, no one should blame them. No thief should go unpunished.

  • Posted By: taobsu @ 01/23/2008 11:43:08 PM

I uses Warsaw Ghetto uprising example to illustrate that: if you surpress people/race too hard, they will uprising for sure. Of cause Jewish people at that time did not have any rockets, otherwise they were sure use them. Why not? rockets are way better than guns. I did not say this example has the same scale as what happening in middle-east. Nor I compare who did better killing beween Nazi and some Jewish hawks.

    • Posted By: SeanTy @ 01/23/2008 11:53:37 PM

No sir taobsu, in this case, guns are better than rockets. Please do your research on the accuracy of these so-called rockets. Either way, I am tired of "both" sides of the problem. Starvation in Africa is way more important of an issue because people there actually WANT to be helped. Alright I am checking out of this conversation. Good night.

SeanTy, the israelis are fighting for the occupation and not peace. If they want peace, let them get the hell out of there and stop bombing our cities and starving us. You clearly have never been to a refugee camp and never met the family that watched its home destroyed and their trees get uprooted. That is called genocide and any state that commits genocide must never exist. I don't mind your solution as long as no one funds and arms and provides political support for this racist regime. Trust me, we can take care of it on our own.
Pablito, many israelis have no heart and go on with their lives pretending that they are on a "moral" mission to "civilize" us. I used to engage in dialogue with israelis, but I stopped when I realized that they were doing it to preserve their racist state and not because their state commits genocide against us.

    • Posted By: gavind @ 01/23/2008 11:46:15 PM

jafra, stop whining and take some responsibilty for the condition you find youself and your people in. your pride and stubborn refusal to recognize israel's right to exist, your seeming total inability to acknoledge the war your militants are waging on Israel, your insane religious leaders and politicians teaching children to admire mass murdering suicide bombers, you and your people are an embarassment to the human race.

      get a clue.

    • Posted By: SeanTy @ 01/23/2008 11:42:03 PM

Dear Jafra, I respect your opinion, but I respectfully disagree with it. This is not the 10th century anymore, and your people will not win the struggle with arms, not unless you take unthinkable measures. And if you do take unthinkable measures, your people will only suffer more than they already have. Like the article suggests, this is a PR war you are fighting, don't waste your chips.

To the comment about the Warsaw Ghetto uprising being compared to the Arabs in Gaza. Gaza is no Warsaw Ghetto. In the ghetto the number of Jews dwindled to 0 after the Nazis set it up. In the Gaza strip, the Arab population has gone from 250,000 people in 1967 to over 1.5 million people today. Perhaps if UNRWA taught these people how to use the pill instead of teaching them to hate Jews, the situation of the Arabs in Gaza would be better.
