Some men are real smart. I know that. Men invent a lot more, don't they? What is the percentage of patents that men created? Men dominate great art, or at least the art that sells well, in the high dollar range, so to speak. Men dominate music and literature that is highly rated over more than a couple of generations. How come why for men be for dominating so much in the sciences and arts? How many female Einsteins do we have yet? Is madam Curie the same intellectual heft as a Kepler? Who really believes that? Madam Curie was determined, and not one whit stupid. She had a good head on her shoulders, you bet.

This is coming from a guy, and I do have to say that though the intelligence level on average is probably the same, I tend to think that the social upbringing is what impacts a lot of the self esteem issues mentioned in the article. I know I have heard several times growing up, from both men and women "Girls are just not as good at math and science as boys" I tend to believe that this is true but not due to intelligence, but rather the fact that males and females learn DIFFERENTLY, and these topics are taught in a fashion more approaching the male mind. Additionally, hearing a statement like that will cause many people to make it self-fulfilling.

It was said a few comments down that the world is equaling out. This is untrue. Studies show that more women are now going to college than men. (i am a 16 year old male). Equilibrium is death, there are always fluctuations and in reality, equality will never really be reached. This said, it should be known that "male teenagers" are not the smartest. I would say that i am an intellectual person, however, i must also give extreme credit to my female friends.All my life, i am in constant competition, not with other men, but with the women of my class. Sometimes i am victorious and other times i am not.
This fluctuating trend is necessary for our society to continue to move forward.
