He's Not as Smart as He Thinks

Historical data concerning the sciences must be taken with a grain of salt, sir. Remember in the modern era, in fact, for as long as we have recorded historical documents, the women of our world have not be allowed to even use their intellects! Women were not allowed to read in many countries around the world until a few centuries ago. And no culture, including the UK and the United States of America even let women go to university until the mid-1800s. Of course, there have been exceptions. But your data is biased. Let's revisit this in about 2,000 years and see what happens. That might be a more balanced approach.

Having grown up in an environment where males in remedial classess thought themselves smarter than girls in gifted classes(and were treated accordingly by adults), I have many years of exposure to this assumed male intellectual superiority. One of the greatest obstacles to equality is self hating women who have been convinced that they and other women are inferior and in turn become suppressors of their own kind.

Yikes! A quick survey of the postings here clearly shows that most of you, both men AND women, need to go back to school to learn how to spell and compose proper sentences. It's difficult to take comments about intelligence seriously when they appear to be written by idiots!

And further more, not all men think they are smarter than women. Bob Weir sang it best in the Grateful Dead's 1980's song, "The women are smarter now, that's right!"

Does anyone else find it incredibly amusing that some of these men think a sexist comment is an acceptable substitute for an intelligent contribution to this discussion?

The new age feminist view obviously discounts historical performance as a measure of male verses female IQ. Very, very few women have ever been noted, as innovative thinkers... and I do not believe this can be mitigated by feminist views that males oppress female development and self-actualization.

One only need look at the recent data concerning applied intelligence... Technology, theoretical or applied sciences, business and government leadership... These all point to male dominance, which suggest a higher applied IQ.

Perhaps Adrian has some bias in her point of view... could it be? In spite of the feminization of the West... we see that men remain the dominant intellect in all areas of the social order.
Who knows though what the devaluing of males will cause in the long term. Young men today are being held back by new age of feminist enlightenment. Recent trends in education favor the female... as evidenced by the role reversal of male and female in our public schools. More, women are in college today than men.

Looks... bad for the guy's. Our society may want to reevaluate the enfluence of femisim on males in the educational system and its long-term social benefits. It appears the feminist side is effecting the performance of males in our Educational system... at all levels. Leaving it up to females to fill the positions of leadership in technology, science and our social order.

Men won't like this article - their egos are too strong to think they're anything but the best! Face it, most men want to think they're smarter than women - except when they need their mothers!

I know for a fact that I am just as if not much smarter than most of the men I know, I know my daughter is smarter than one of her 2 brothers AND my husband.

It is a ridiculous notion for any man to think he's smarter than a woman just because he's a man - do her wrong and try to win that battle. HA!

Relax, I don't hate women at all. Without women I wouldn't have clean laundry or a clean house and it would probably be decorated poorly. These are what we refer to as jokes, a comical anecdotes to take away from the seriousness of some of the comments posted here. "Got take a few history classes" ?......come on now, I know it's in the heat of the moment, but formulating coherent and rational sentences will help strengthen your argument. Don't take life so seriously, you'll never get out alive.
