I is a man and I is smarte.

This has alos to do with how society has behaved with both the genders in the past. Boys have been naturally expected to "earn a living" for the family, which in turn helps develop needed confidence and do better in the outside life !!

I think I also has a lot to do with going out in the world to "earn a living". Boys have been naturally pushed to do that for last tens of years. This in turn develops confidence needed to do better

Do anyone really think that if some studies show that men have higher IQ, such studies will be published? Will Newsweek report it? No Way! But if there are some studies showing women have higher IQ, it will be all over news. But we haven't seen such news. What does it tell you?

People do get message from public linching of Sommers. And smart people, like researchers, don???t risk ruining their lives by publishing findings that run counter to feminist-approved worldview.

I think women think that way because we were raised to think men were smarter and most of us have let the men think that because we are also better at manulaption

My husband, who would have gotten suckered into a pyramid scheme if it wasn't for me, always claims he's somehow intelligent.

Finally! ... Science has gotten around to proving that men just THINK they know everything. They don't know anymore than a woman does. Don't worry fellas. We women will not think any less of you now that... you know ... you found out that you're not all knowing. LOL ... I have to make sure I email this article to all the men I know! No ... Adrian Furnham has it almost right. I believe that the main difference between the I.Q.'s of the male and the females is actually the perception of the information gathered, and the rate of importance given to that information by the different sexes. It has little to do with the actual sex or the I.Q. but with the actual perception of the individual's priorities.

Do you honestly believe that only men strive to be best and most desirable of their gender? Don't women diet, wear makeup, get plastic surgery, and soak themselves in Mystic Tan to become more attractive and desirable? (Again, I'm not making a generalization here, just pointing out that SOME women do these things, and it's not a minority of women.) Men aren't exactly peacocks. Humans are more complicated and evolved than birds. To say that women flock to the guy that has the biggest pecs, the most money in the bank, or the most fame isn't accurate.

In most VERY ancient religions they were Goddesses (a good example of that in history is the Venus of Willendorf figure.) And I mean way back in history, before any current religion we have ever existed. I think, historically, culture shifts back and forth between male or female dominance, but this isn't shown over a decade or a century. I think it's better depicted in each millennia.

Both men and women have their moments of thinking logically and thinking emotionally. Ego wise, men do tend to have more pride than women. Women think before they say or do anything and men just do it.

Is it a coincidence that you never read any studies that point out women???s flaws or weakness as a gender in comparison to men? I don???t think I have seen one. Did nature really design women so well and men so poorly, especially in the last 15 to 20 years? Are women really that perfect? Are men really that inferior? I think this perception seems to fly in the face of nature. It is a fact that most women reject men as mates who they think are inferior to them. They try to hook the man who is the smartest, strongest, bravest, and most successful. Some women are even willing to share a male to mate with the cream of the crop. Hey it???s true. Just find out how easy it is to get laid when your famous. This is why men in general tend to be more competitive and push themselves to be superior. And look around??? look at the technological advancements that have been made??? hey let???s face it, made mostly by men. another note - I do not mean that all schools are run by men, that was just my experience.

anilgupte: what? I went to 5 high schools (in NV, TX, and 3 different areas of WA) and as far as I remember ALL the superintendants were men, pretty sure the pricipals were also men. When did you graduate high school (if you don't mind me asking)?

Interesting article, though I don't take it as the complete truth. It does make very good material for a debate :-)

Personally, I feel lucky to have inherited both my parents strongest skills, analytical and linear thinking from Dad, creative and artistic thinking from Mom. This has been very useful in work and school. Their skills aren't based on gender, both have siblings that exhibit the opposite skills (sisters being analytical, brother being extremely creative.) My brother is very similar to me in this respect and intelligent, but opposite in the sense that he HATED school and did the bare minimum.
