terribly sad... and terribly disrespectful to act like that (referring to the comment posted by 'waun') my sympathy goes out to all lost and loved ones that have suffered from accidental overdose - famous or not. i am not a fan of prescription drugs because of this reason - there has got to be better ways to take care of personal problems, maybe talking to a therapist? i don't know, but someone needs to figure out how to make these problems stop... maybe i can do it? god bless

Health Ledger's death is a shock to me. It will get quite a long time for everyone of us I think to get used to the fact that we are not going to see him anymore. My heart goes out to his family and his daughter esp. Also, I feel so sorry for Michelle Williams since she would now have to be the one to tell this little angel that daddy is not going to come home anymore to play with her, hold her or watch her grow up. This is such a tragedy. May god give enough strength to his family, friends and his fans to overcome this situation and remember and cherish him for the most humble, polite and nice guy that he was. We would forever miss you Heath Ledger. May your soul rest in peace:-(

Poor guy, he was exhausted and probably to the point of doing anything to get some rest..It was an accident and everyone should leave it as that!!! God Bless Heath and his family...

listen up! this is to all the doctors who prescribe this medication, why in the world would you give this young man so many different pills that all seam to help with the same problem. one perscription for depression is enough! " medical field please use your heads.... to his family may each day get easier and may your love for
heath keep his spirt alive. ( i am a mother of a 28 year old son ) my heart feels your pain. blessing to all .

When you have the money you can go to several different Doctors and get several different medications. This is probably not just one Doctor. All you have to do is tell them you are not on any medications and wall-la you get what you want, then all you do is go to the next one. God Bless his family.

most likely one doctor did not prescribe all of those medications. I believe a number of articles report that two of the prescriptions were made in Europe. It is likely that he went to different doctors and failed to tell them what other drugs he was taking at the time. At the end of the day, we can't blame the medical field for everything. We have to take responsibility for our health. I think it's commonplace for people to go to different doctors in order to get prescriptions they shouldn't get or to get more of a particular prescription drug than they need in a given month.

Of course, I do wish his family well. And who knows what happened, but it's irresponsible to use this as a reason to attack the medical community. those particular drugs help a lot of people, and it's really only very recently that mental illness was taken seriously enough to make such medications available to people who are suffering.

I take two different types of antidepressants, because they both act on different neurotransmitters. I also take an anti-anxiety medication similar to alprozalam. But the information that comes with those prescriptions is *very* clear about the potential dangers and the need to (a) inform your doctor of any other prescriptions or even over-the-counter drugs you are taking and (b) only take the dosage prescribed by your doctor.

unless you are a doctor, i highly doubt you are in a position to tell anyone what is 'enough' for their depression.

i think its time for america to wake up.these doctors prescribe drugs knowing full well they can have deadly side effects.but of course you haveto have something too cure anxiety.its called buck up and quit being a pansy.i liked heath as an actor, but what could have been so bad in his life that he needed anxiety drugs.not much except too get high probably.he should have stuck with weed and some bud light.he would probably still be alive.most people are still duped by the reefer madness mentality, while still believing a prescribed man made drug by a doctor can do you no harm.get over it.stop taking man made drugs take something that comes from the earth if you need too relax.other wise keep poppin your pills while your doctor gets rich and america becomes drug addicts and eventually slaves too narcotics.but hey at least its legal, right??

    • Posted By: ealm141 @ 01/24/2008 3:01:50 PM

obviously you dont understand anxiety...if it was that easy just to "buck up" noone would ever feel anxious!! and yeah, great idea...lets releive anxiety by becoming a pot head and an alcholic!!!

      • Posted By: johnny utah @ 01/24/2008 3:15:59 PM

a whole lot better than a pill poppin junkie,by the way im not a pot head but i sure do love beer.so i doubt ill be over dosing on 3.2 utah beer.but keep taking your pills cuz you wouldnt want to deal with reality that would just be silly

there is know need for all the speculation people need take a second and think about the poor guys friends and family a little girl has lost her father a mother has lost a child and as millions of his fans morn people who think its there bussiness to be hurtful with there words need to learn some respect for the dead and let the poor man rest in peace

  • Posted By: sweetheart26 @ 01/24/2008 3:15:39 PM

While it may be no ones businness but his families and so many people are speculating as to why he passed away is because when you are a well know person especially in Hollywood people tend to pay attention to things like this and react to a tragedy such as this.Just let everyone who has something to say express them selves and just be kind to opinions. You may not agree with rude comments just as I don't but still remember him and his friends and family. They deserve respect and privacy and there really is no need to say anything else mean.Just pay your respects and let your anger go.

do not blame the pharmacutical companies! I would think that there were explicit directions given as to doses. They cannot be blamed for improper use.

    • Posted By: SK1016 @ 01/24/2008 3:14:26 PM

No, but they can be blamed for giving too many precriptions!

  • Posted By: Norma Jean @ 01/24/2008 3:14:25 PM

I agree with this article! I think he was sick from going a million miles an hour shooting his film in London and he couldn't breath from his illness and was tired, he just wanted some relief and sleep! The drugs could be more effective if he had an empty stomache too. I should be dead myself if this truly the reason his heart stopped, because I also have sleeping problems and anxiety and take medication for it. I pray that his family can endure this pain and loss and always remember the good times. He was a rising star and he was so humble and sincere with whatever he was doing. It's hard to find an actor that is very true to themselves, but he was the exception. I'll miss him!

It is really sad that he passed. Amazing person and talent. However we are talking about, excuse me, I am talking about the prescription medicine that is being pushed to us, our parents, our kids, friends, whoever, I agree that aniexty "sometimes" cannot be just brushed off, and you have to take medication, but do you really have to take 3 or 4 or 5 of the same medication? Because your doctor has no IDEA what is wrong with you and they just prescribe you crap on top of crap. I don't know...may he rest in peace.

It can be deadly to mix anti-anxiety drugs with antihistamines and/or prescription sleeping pills.

  • Posted By: laurtay @ 01/24/2008 3:11:38 PM

Ledger was an amazing actor. The fact that he is a celebrity doesn't make it okay for everyone in the media to judge him, his life, or his passing. Have respect for his family and let things be. Everyone should worry about their own lives, rather than everyone else's.

he lived in brooklyn not manhattan, read the news!!

It is too bad that someone with money can go to several different Doctors and not tell each one that they are on any medications so they can get what they want. There needs to be a way to control this but how would you do it? Let us just wait and see what the medical examiner has to say. What does this say about being in the spot light. Is it worth the price? God Bless his family.

  • Posted By: sweetheart26 @ 01/24/2008 3:09:39 PM

Okay first of all we are just concerned about the combination of meds given at the same time for the same thing.Yes maybe they can not be blamed for improper use,yet we do not know the full details on what really happened and if it had something to do with all the medicine all we are saying is that they should take better care in the distribution of medicine. Please everyone be kind and considerate about our concerns.Let us just remember Heath and let go of all of the negative issues.

I believe that the average intelligent being is pretty much aware that in the U.S. physicians for the most part care more about how much money they make than the patients well being. (if you're not already aware of this I suggest you watch "Sicko")

As far as Heath Ledger is concerned, my heart goes out to his loved ones. His death is tragic and unfortunate.

The media on the other hand is completely irresponsible and disgusting, reporting the same damm thing over and over each time with new and added ASSUMPTIONS. ET for instance reported and made such a big deal about the "rolled up 20 dollar bill" when the news at 6pm had already reported that the bill had absolutely no drug residue at all! Imagine how his family, friends, loved ones feel when although they are confident in what they believe, have all this in the media reporting the same crap over and over again and most of the time when they've added something new to the same old story it's an assumption, really no news at all. They need to be more responsible , just wait sit tight until you have all the facts instead of constantly repeating the same information over and over again. His loved ones need to be considered.

Last person put Kieth Ledger.....His name is Heath Ledger. To be so winded and have so much to say and didn't pay the dead actor common courtesy to spell his name right.
Last week Brad Renfro died in his home and was only 25. This week it is Heath Ledger at 28. It says alot to what the price of fame does to one's soul. I feel bad for both of their families. I know that reguardless of fame they were someone's child and someone's friend, lover. Maybe Hollywood should let them die in peace and let their family deal with the tragedy.
Live as if you were to die tomorrow. Learn as if you were to live forever. A great quote from Ghandi.. that we could all live by.
