First of all...people must really not understand anxiety..if people could just "buck up" as someone said, then noone would never feel anxious...and nice suggestion..lets deal with anxiety by becoming potheads and alcholics!!! you gotta be kidding!

Very sad... I was shocked to hear it on the radio the other morning, on my way to work...May he rest in peace.

I think everyone needs to really get a life and worry about their own, rather than everyone else's. Ledger was an amazing person as well as an incredible actor and now he is gone. Be respectful of his family and friends and stop trying to figure out on your own why he passed away. It's no one's business but his family's.

I have an open mind when it comes to sexuality. I thought the storyline in Brokeback Mountain was awesome. He a a great actor and will be missed!

To those who have made rude and hateful comments,Please have a heart and have respect for his friends and family.Just because you did not like him or care for his movies does not mean you have to be mean.He was a person just like us regardless of him being an actor. It is very sad and heartbreaking. My heart goes out to his friends and family. He will be missed but will never be forgotten.I hope doctors will be more careful about the kind of medicines they prescribe together and be more careful about their patients health to prevent any problems and tragedies like this from happening. We will not know until they confirm what caused him to pass away.Until then please everyone do not speculate and be kind and respectful. He was a talented actor and from what I have read a lot of people will miss him and he was good and loving father to his little girl.May he rest in peace.

    Alprazolam is Xanax, a benzodiazapene.

Second person in Holly-Hell to die in less than 1 week. Brad Renfro Dead in his home and only 25..Now Heath and he was only 28. The pressures of sucess must come with a huge cost to one's soul.

His death is truely a tragedy. It has had a huge impact on me. I'm not sure what it is maybe it's his age or the fact that he has a 2 year old daughter or hearing he was such a nice person and a great dad. Knowing this makes it that much harder to deal with. You never expect to get news like this you expect to hear someone who is the news for using drugs everyday like Lindsey or Brit . I think the reason it has shocked everyone is because you never hear anything negative about Heath using drugs or partying too much. He just seemed like one of us, so down to earth. He of course was a very talented actor who had so much going for him, I will forever be touched by him:(

I was shocked to hear about Heath's death and I am deeply sorry for his family and friends that love him. But as many people have made comments about what they have learned from his death. I also have learned a few things. When I was younger I use to believe that the United States was the best place in the world to live. The older I get and the more I pay attention to te things around me the more I wonder.
Everyone is human we all make mistakes or have made mistakes. If anyone was in the public eye there would be something to negative to talk about them. I think that losing a loved one is hard enough without adding the world saying all these things about your loved one. Think of how you would feel if it was your loved one. People are making money off of a man's life. I strugle with with just dealing with things in my own life. There is not one person out there that doesn't strugle with something in there life. Now think about if on top of that you have no privacy even when you are dead. RIP means Rest in Peace I think we forget that. I think a lot of the problem with people that are famous. Is that we treat them like they are beyond being human. That they lose touch of who they really are. If you never have time with ourself you don't know who you are.
As far as the truth, I don't care who thinks that they are an expert. The only ones that truely know what happen is Heath and God. And if Heath had some problems then that is between them.
I can't stand how negative our country has become. Look at the news, tv, radio and all around people. There are not to many things that are positive. Why to we have so many people that do drugs, drink, are on antidepressiants, are having affairs, need motivation, have how many different dieases and different Preciption drugs. Our country has change to the quick fix, short term feel good. And yet if this is such a great thing how come it is getting worse. Instead of adding the negative to our world how many of us are adding positive. I want anyone that reads this to only take one day and focus on how many things people that are negative. Whats the saying it takes 10 positives to erase an negative. I think that if everyone was more focused on making there life more positive we would see a huge difference. The number one excuse that everyone has is that they are to busy. If we maybe stopped gossiping about others and kept our noses out of everyone else 's business we would have a lot more time on our hands.
With the Medical side of this, Each person in responible for there own body. Your body works a little different than others. You need to do your research. The rule that I try to follow is God made your body and things that it needs. If you look at our country and the people in it most of them don't care about you as a person or your life. All they care about is the numbers and you are one of the number. Please treat others the way that you want to be treated.

The poor man must have been desperate to get some sleep - every one of these meds is used for insomnia. If they were all prescribed to him by a single physician, maybe one after the other to try to find the one that worked best, it would be imperative for the doctor to explain that they are not to be taken in combination. Did Ledger know this, and take multiple sleep meds because he was desperate? Or, did the physician not explain the potentially lethal results of combining these drugs? I wonder if we will ever know....

How was he ignorant? He could have been taking medication just like the doctor told him to. So who's to say it was HIS ignorance when it could have very well been the DOCTOR'S ignorance?!

Heath felt tired and anxious for several months, since November. People KNEW how he felt. So where were his true frineds? Where was someone to hold his hand, or to come over and take care of him for a day or two, or every day, o make sure he calmed down, to make sure he slept? A true friend would care enough to stay with a friend in need, and Heath was in great need of comforting and soothing and calming. Who could have stayed with him, distracted him from his pain and troubles, comforted him, coaxed him to relax, let go, to talk about what bothered him, given him hot sooting herbal tea, and good nutritious food, a good
word of advice and kindness, a good laugh, the time of day or days until he got through his valley of shadows; if only there had been someone who could have rescued him from his aloneness and from the abyss that he found himself in, someone who might have prevented him from desperately medicating himself until he died through an overdose. Oh, where, where was that friend or friends, true friends, that could have changed everythng, could have changed Heath being found alone, naked, dead, surrounded by the only comforters he seemed to have: Ambien, Zopiclone, Diazepam, Lormetazepam, Temazepam, Alprazolam and Donormyl-doxylamine.

I think the media and people should not comment on how he died until they know. The Medical Examier is the one who has to say. His family is suffering enough without all of these guessing games.

    antiliberal...

The rest of us. I hope your heart will open some day so you can appreciate another's. O you can be more considerate and keep your caustic opinions to yourself. A very gifted man lost his life. It's also a wake up call to the medical industry and the rest of us to take care with our medications and keep a strong support system around us. Why be so selfish?

  • Posted By: Mern @ 01/24/2008 2:55:11 PM

I think everyone is jumping to conclusion. They should wait and see what the Medical Examiner has to say before they comment on the deceased. It is bad enough that his family is suffering without all of this to do.

And the government has these huge campaigns on trying to stop Marijuana and other recreational drugs, when we ALL know what the real killer is.....I wonder if big "Marijuana Companies" funded a few Senator's vacations or paid a few lobbyists to approve their drug on the Market, would we see Marijuana commercials with a happy family on a boat, not worrying about anything?? Or on the side of every bus? Hmmm....

it is sad that people die no mater who they are , rstone your comment's are the satan in you talking and you are jugdemental of people who have more than you do. some people like you think you have the right answer's ,what you really need to do is go back to school to learn how to spell .

    • Posted By: rstone21 @ 01/24/2008 2:51:41 PM

Scorpion, Why thank you for you nice little metaphor of the Satan in me speaking, but the TRUTH hurts. Sorry that I don't have all day to spell check a dumb discussion. lol. I have plenty of other things to worry about than my spelling in this dicussion board. HAHA. You all seem to be so whiney and act like I'm personally attacking you with, what I believe the truth is. Thats the fact with these young Hollywood actors/actresses. If you don't like what I said then dont read it and move on to the next baby who is telling you they feel bad because he was a human being like all of us and blah blah blah, because thats all it is. When you feel like opening those eyes instead of looking through a peep hole then talk. Ciao

Heath Ledger's death, like all sudden deaths of those so young, is certainly a tragedy. We hear only statistics until someone so famous and in the public eye passes, but that's the way of things. That aside, Heath Ledger was a talented young man with a winning smile, and I hope and believe (like many people do, I think) that his death was an accident-- that his intention was never to kill himself, only to fall asleep. It's more than possible that he had become accustomed to his regular dosage of medication, and that having become so dependent upon it, felt he needed more of it to slip into unconsciousness. Speculation is part of the human condition. People form opinions, judgements and theories without all the facts because we will never truly know them, I think. We can only wonder what happened to Heath until the final results of his autopsy are complete, and only imagine what wonderful things he'd have done with his life, his career. His family doesn't mourn alone, and his daughter will someday know that his fans, both rabid and casual, miss him greatly.
