I find it absurd that people are commenting and critizing this man. He was a talented person. If it was sucide or and accidental overdose it isn't our place to criticize. If you have any heart or knowledge of psychology then you would be somewhat understanding of an individual's "need" for pills such as Ambien or other benzos. Keep your comments to yourself if you are going to be cruel and judgemental of someone who has died.

what a shame. Pharmacologically speaking I'm surprised that Dr.Blaschke, didn't emphasize the well known fact that, benzodiazepines (the class of drugs of which, were found in Ledgers room,i.e., Valum, xanax, Ativan, centrax, etc) are very difficult to O.D. on. Whendrugs such as Valium, and Librium first cameout, that was amarketing tool, that benzodiazepines were so much safer than barbituates, the drugs, which preceded benzodiazepines, as the sleeping-anti-anxietypill of choice. Now barbituates, were notorious, for being quite effective suicide pills, in fact, barbituates have been involved in the majority of celebrity accidental O.D. deaths. By contrast, benzodiazepines, while viciously addictive, are remarkably safe, and non-toxic. In fact, when first marketed, pharmaceutical sales rep's. were heard to often say that, the only way that benzo's could kill you, would be if a truck carrying them ran you over. Nevertheless, if combined with alcohol, or any other assorment of sedatives, particularly sedatives other then bbenzodiazepines, such as alcohol, or barbituates, then death by "not breathing", will most assuredly occur. What a tragic loss. Heath Ledger was a highly skilled actor , just taking off,,,,,,,,

It bothers me that pictures of Heath Ledger are plastered all over the internet and all over the television. Every where you look there is a new article about his death. Soldiers die everyweek that are out fighting for us and our country, yet they remain faceless. You do not read stories about them or about their grieving families. Who is Heath Ledger, nothing but an actor. What has Heath Ledger given to society, nothing of importance. The ones that you should feel bad about our the men and women that are out fighting for us. The ones that have already given their lives for our freedom. Why dont you place flowers and candles outside of their homes? They are the true LEGENDS!!!!

"Soldiers that are fighting for us..."
Who's "us"????Oil tycoons? Big corp CEO? Bush family? Evangelist radicals? True, the soldiers died for a reason - 200 years from now, they'll be remembered for contributing to the doom of the U.S. empire. I'm sorry for them being brainwashed enough to volunteer to die for the profit of a few people.

Yes, soldiers should be noticed an in which they are everyday on local channel and in the news papers, and they even have movies about famous events, but the comments that are for a young man who very talented and had passed ........................ So keep that in your mind if you would he tough people with his movies................................ Unlike anna nicole who publically announce every hour on the hour ........... nerely a year ago .............. So let the world grieve for an actor in which in way touched people ...........

I am fully aware that on the news you hear the we lost 5 soldiers in a roadside bombing, the point is that you never hear names and you never see faces. They have given more back to society and to our country than some actor that overdosed. Yet he is the one that gets all of the publiciety. It is just dishearting to me that people are so tunnel visioned. He did not stand up and fight for us or for our country. Yet you read the comments left by other people, that they cried when they heard the news. That they got sick to their stomachs, they feel so bad for his daughter and his family. He chose to take the drugs, wether or not his death was intentional I do not care. It was his choice, am I suppose to feel bad because he could not sleep or deal with reality, no I DO NOT. It was he choice and only his choice.

I agree with saintjewel ... I, too, will miss the movies he would have made and cherish the ones he did. Please allow his family to preserve his dignity and keep the news from reporting false reports of any kind. He was a wonderful actor, and I pray that he did have many joys in his short life. I pray for his precious daughter who has lost her dad at such an early age. I also pray that people around the world will take heed regarding the effects of legal drugs if not used properly.

"A small stroke as indicated by the Family's Medical Examiner" - the same Family who have been desperately spinning this to be an accident." This does not render any conclusive evidence as to a full toxocologist report which is not due out for another week. This is a deperate family trying to clear Ledger's name. And it is quite common to have a stroke or heart attack along with the respiratory failure that would ensue from the cocktail of drugs he acquired, along with perhaps some powder heroin for the $20.00 bill.

chinadollalm, is it ignorance that makes you such an idiot, or is it the fact that you cannot read. It has been clearly stated the NO drugs were found in Heath Ledger's body. I am sure though; with the trash you're, sprouting, a fair amount could be found in yours.

  • Posted By: Scottpetrella @ 01/24/2008 5:43:22 PM

I can't believe you two are having a personal battle on a site that has been devoted to news about the untimely death of Heath Ledger. Haven't you any shame or compassion, or is it that you are just too selfish.

  • Posted By: chinadollalm @ 01/24/2008 5:43:00 PM

maybe died from a stroke from taking to many prescription drugs because he was addicted to them and took too many

  • Posted By: chinadollalm @ 01/24/2008 5:40:42 PM

again people can be addicted to presciption drugs and nowhere has it been ruled out this is not a possibility

  • Posted By: chinadollalm @ 01/24/2008 5:36:49 PM

the only cause the soilder's are fighting for is George Bush's stupidity. It's so sad to see all these men and women die everyday, while most of the politicians are living their rich happy lives

I did not know who this actor was and I do not care. I only feel bad for his daughter. This board is full of drug addicts and people that hold a class of people ( actors) in to high of a regard. As far as I am concerned all of Hollywood could OD and the world would be better off. This joker I understand may have been glorifying homosexuality and gets what he deserved. And now he is the Joker in Batman, America you are one sick puppy. You all are going to get what you deserve someday. Idiots

DON'T YOU FEEL LIKE THE IDIOT NOW THAT IT HAS BEEN BROADCASTED THAT HE DIED BECAUSE OF A STROKE AND NOT AN OVERDOSE? DON'T YOU FEEL STUPID KNOWING THAT THE SAME CAN HAPPEN TO YOU TOO? THEN AGAIN, YOU ARE PROBABLY JUST JEALOUS BECAUSE SOME PEOPLE IN HOLLYWOOD HAVE ENOUGH MONEY TO KEEP UP THEIR HABITS AND YOU DON'T!!!!!!!

That was a really hateful thing to say! Shame on you! I hope there is no body out there who wishes death upon you.

before you start calling people names, remember ther is such a thing as being addicted to prescription drugs! think about it

My deepest sympathies go out to his family. I loved his movies and his death leaves a hole in the world. As for the wonderful Christians planning to protest is memorial service, it is not sprsing, it has been my experience that most christians are not very tolerant and deffiately do not practice what Jesus preached, Jesus was all about love, today christians are all about hate, if something or someone is different they have to try to convert it, if they cant, they just hate it. I pray that the Goddess opens there hearts, their eyes and their minds so they can see that love begets love and hate promotes hate.

mirandabunny - get over it please. iF IT WAS THE HOMELESS GUY ON THE PARK BENCH, OR THE NEIGHBOR DOWN THE STREET NOONE WOULD GIVE A ***. iT'S TOO BAD, SORRY FOR THE FAMILY BUT IT MEANS NOTHING TO ME . His movies were OK, and that's that. I only wish I had him in my dead pool. Could have won a few thousand dollars. Oh well. Learn from it and knock it off.

Are you for real? I feel really sad for you, but I'm guessing you don't know what it's like to genuinely feel for all human beins.

I just read the latest report from CNN which was simultaniuosly brodcasted in the New York Time databank and should be front page news tomorrow. Apparently the Medical Examiners report was released to the family today. It showed that there was no trace of illegal substances in Heath Ledger's body and there was only a small trace of 2 drugs that were found in his room, thus ruling out overdose. The report goes on to state that "it appears Mr Ledger suffered a mild stroke that rendered him unconcious". They are now reporting that it was complications resulting from the stroke that caused Heath Ledger's death. They have not released any details beyond what I have just shared with you, however I am sure it will be well known with in the hour.
In today's society where journalism revolves around a jumble of half truths, I think the media has shown alot of class when dealing with this sensitive subject. I have read many reports speculating that "drugs may be a factor" however with each report came a disclaimer stating no evidence could support that theory. I appreciate the respect the media has shown to the family and friends of Heath Ledger and the acknoledgment of his vast accomplishments as an actor.

Thankyou! With this news, it will be interesting to see what everyone who judged this man will have to say now.

People, you have the right to your opinions, but you really shouldn't judge others, especially before knowing the facts. I guess you can all stop worring about the doctors who supposedly killed this man, or that this man wasn't smart enough to know what to do with his prescriptions. Looks like those of you who take these medications can keep taking them. Looks like just maybe, you were wrong about what happend. Last I checked, a stroke can happen to anyone.

Again, thanks to the person who waited for some real news to post. It's nice to know not everyone is so quick to judge.

How is this so? Toxicology reports take longer than this.

  • Posted By: Aubie_Tiger_Fan @ 01/24/2008 4:34:52 PM

What a tragedy! Physicians today continue overdosing their patients and get away with it on a regular basis. So who's to blame, the patient's who rely on their Doctors' for sound judgement and knowledge in this expertise field or the pharmaceutical companies who give the Physicians incentitives to sell their drugs and push them on their clientele? However the case be, someone is to blame for this young talented man's life which has been taken away at such an early age due to the fact he was given much more meds that should have been RX.

    • Posted By: TRGoss @ 01/24/2008 4:44:11 PM

We have no one to blame but ourselves. How often do people research the medications that are prescribed to them? Not often. Generally, people trust their physicians and pharmacists, but these professionals cannot possibly keep track of all the medications that you or I or anyone else is on. It is each of our responsibilities to ourselves to research and educate ourselves on the medications we are taking.

      • Posted By: lilica @ 01/24/2008 5:10:50 PM

I agree with you! I check all the medications before I take them. If I need it, of course! The doctors just fill us with medication , They make money on each one they give to us.
