I am so sad to see Heath go. Regardless of his short-comings, he was a good man.
To the "Church" condeming him: Let God judge him. Not you. You don't know his heart, and judging him is a dangerous game for your own soul.
To his Friends and Family: My heart goes out to you. You have lost a good man, who had a gift to touch lives, globally. I will be praying for your peace and comfort in this difficult time.
To the Doctors and Patients: The FDA is screwed up. It rolls downhill to the Doctors, which then let it roll downhill to the patients. Let this be a lesson. Doctors, prescribe what is needed. You get paid to do this. Don't play around with peoples health. I have a cupboard full of prescriptions because my own doctor wont prescribe what I need. He prescribes what is on the current fad list issued by the FDA, and the pharmacuetical companies "highest sellers". Prescribe what is needed, nothing more. There is enough history and evidence it what drugs do what, and for what. Stick to the plan.
Patients, encourage your doctors to do what is right. If it isn;t working, go back. Switch doctors until you find one concerned with your health and well being. Not their checkbook or compliance to "what sells".
Heath's death shows us that while people are quick to point to illegal drugs for a death, it can be something prescribed. He tried to keep it legal, he did what was right, and he still died. If you have an issue, and marijuana helps, smoke it. If Ambien helps, take it. But with anything, don't abuse it, and don't take it in excessive amounts. If it doesn't work, don't do it. everyone is not built the same way, therefore, what works for one, may not for another.
to all his fans, support his work. keep him alive through celluloid.
Heath, I will miss you bro.
I adored Heath ! This saddens me deeply. My heart and prayers go out to his loved ones, esp his daughter. I am 1 00 % convinced that this was accidental ! There is absolutely no way that he would have chosen or even thought to have "left" his daughter!!! He adored her. He was a wonderful, kind, loving, gentle, compassionate person. He was an amazing father! He had the self mastery it took to choose his roles and not give in to pressures. He would never have chosen to take his own life and leave his daughter to suffer without him or him without her! This I know as a mother and have suffered depression and anxiety for years. God bless your family and memory Heath! I will so miss seeing your beautiful face and precious smile!
Tax rebate! it is not BS. I work my ass off to provide for myself and daughter. This country is racist and I pay dearly for it every day. They should be giving us more for the BS we put up with in education and the society at large. In fact ,I hope I have your kids in my government class so atleastI can teach them how to critically think !
Move to Russia, you will fit into their scheme of government much better than this one.
You should move to Russia, you would fit into their scheme of government much better than here.
Paxil is not a central nervous system depressant. He didn't have any antianxiety or antidepression drugs. This is the sad thing, he was obviously down emotionally and got prescribed DOWNERS. Paxil is an SSRI, a seretonin re-uptake inhibitor which blocks the body from absorbing its own seritonin allowing the chemical to build up enough so regular life rhythms can go on. Paxil by the way is like the NUBER ONE ANTI-PHOBIA drug for social phobia, which also could fit Heath--boy, he was a sad puppy, but a great great actor, almost a shaman in his skills.
Re the comment by jlondon...How can you suggest that a patient NOT the doctor should be responsible for knowing how certain drugs interact. As I said earlier, there should be a database for doctors to check to see what has been prescribed and when it was prescribed. To suggest that a doctor should not in any way be hels accountable is just insane!! THEY WENT TO MED SCHOOL, NOT THE PATIENT!!! Yes, patients need to be more honest but we can not be expected to know what doctor's do. They are the professionals.
Quit your bitching about the medical companies and learn how to properly take your meds.
I learned something at the expense of Heath Ledger. I take Paxil and Ambien together and think I should not be doing that. (just one of each, prescribed). I'm going to take the Paxil earlier in the day. I need the Paxil. Either that, or walk around crying. sharonjoy
Pretty poor research - only three of the six drugs came from European prescriptions. Also, this is a bunch of speculation. The only drug found to be within reach was the Zoplicone (Lunesta) and there is no link at this time that he took any of them in combination with the others. If you research the drugs, you will find that these are commonly prescribed simultaneously depending on the severity of your issues...but that doesn't necessarily mean he took them at the same time.
I completely agree. I have a sachel full of meds for various things. but that certainly doesn't mean that I take them all together. I wonder if just because they found "pills" at his residence they neglected to look for some other underlaying cause such as a heart issue or some other natural cause of death. We are so quick to jump to the "drugs did it"
I think it's sad that in 48 hours of someone DYING, all anyone can do is try to be invaisive and poke into a private matter that I'm sure his family and friends are already having a hard time dealing with. If he did die from something that was unatural, that's not anyone's business but his family's. Our world has come down to gossip and drama and we're missing the real point. An actor who was good at his job, a good father, and a good person is being thrown on the chopping block because he had some medications in his room. No one will know anything until all of the appropriate labs are in, however, it still doesn't concern us. People die every day from similar or worse things. It seems that because he was an entertainer, that somehow changes his life's worth. He's still a person, and no matter how he died, it's not fair to judge him or invade what privacy his family has left after this horrible ordeal. Come on people! Think about his family and friends. Would you want your children to see that the whole world knew that you may have possibly overdosed on drugs??? He'a dead for God's sake. Let's worry more about that and less about how it might have happened. He was a good person, great father and an actor in his prime. That's what needs to be talked about here.
good for you!! i STAND UP and applaud you i made some of the same comments. it is none of our business as tragic as it is. it is between him and his family and friends and this just makes it harder on all of them for us to speculate anyhting as if we knew him.
I learned something here for myself. I take Paxil and Ambien together when I go to sleep. Guess I'll take Paxil in the a.m. Without the Paxil I walk around crying like a baby.
Folks, wake up!! At least 3 of the 6 drugs have highly addictive qualities. Benzodiazapines (Lorazepam, Temazepam, Diazepam) are simply acohol in a pill format. Many physicians do not understand the nature of addiction or these drugs - what a tragedy.
I agree that they're highly addictive if used incorrectly. But given that reports have stated that the bottles were "mostly full," I'd argue that there was probably one specific drug that interacted with whatever he was taking for his pneumonia. Don't know if I'd question the physicians - pending further information.
Comment: I only hope that one day we well be able to find a means to solve this on going problem of Doctor's prescribing medications for patients who are currently taken medications prescribed by another doctor. This is a sad situation that so many families fall victim to"
There is no reason, at this point, to think that he took all of the drugs that were in his apartment. at one time. Maybe one was not working so he told his doctor and the doctor prescribed another and he hadn't gotten around to tossing the others.
A big part of the solution to the above mentioned problem is for people to take responsibility for certain aspects of their healthcare and make sure that they tell any doctor they go to what medications another doctor has prescribed. I'm not sure how it's done in Europe, but any doctor I've ever been to in American asks, right at the beginning of the appointment, what medications a person may be taking. Also, a person can be sure to take all of their prescriptions to one pharmacy so that if there are any drug interactions, the pharmacy would let that person know.
At the very least, it's hard to say anything about this until there is a definant answer as to what really happened. Maybe it had nothing to do with the meds at all.
Has anyone ever diagnosed Heath with sleep apnea, a combination of the prescribed drugs and sleep apnea..(the heavy snooring is a sign, also irregular sleeping) the housekeeper claimed he had been snooring heavily. But what probably did him in was that he was face down, if he did have sleep apnea...it would cause him to stop breathing without the ability to "wake up" because of the meds...I hope the ME checks into "Apnea"
Oh an ps....to the church who in a loving Christian way plans on picketing the memorial service of a fellow human being.... all because he played a gay man in a movie... GROW UP! He is an actor, thats his job. And who are you that you can stand and cast judgement on someone else? The last time I looked Jesus and Heavenly Father were the only two with that sort of power... therefore why dont you do the Christian thing, let his family, his daughter an his friends give him a proper Memorial an lay their loved one to rest. How would you feel if you suddenly lost a family member and because someone thought they were all high an mighty decided to come an do what your planning to do... youd be devastated... and its disrespectful. Let the man be laid to rest the proper way... there are other ways to get your views across then to do something so vial an hateful. Maybe you should be the ones being JUDGED.
I agree with you. I have been a Christian for over 40 years and this isn't the first time I had to hang my head in shame for what my fellow Christians, if indeed they are Christians, have either said or done. Some people call themselves Christians but the Bible says it doesn't matter how much good they do, if their heart is evil their, so called good, is for nothing. I might add that people should not be too eager to believe a person is a Christian just because they tag themselves as such. Some are out to destroy Christianity so they perform evil deeds in it's name and true loving Christians usually end up paying for it just like in the first century.
My deepest condolonces to his daughter and to his family. i lost my Dad when i was young and went through a lot of depressing situations. would his death be caused by any drug intake is someone elses fault (said with the notion that the peson who issued the prescription medicines is just one)or with his own decision is a loss for those people who love Heath Ledger especially his family. it's my prayer that his family would be able to recover soon. loosing someone is sometimes a way to get closer to God. God Bless You.
When I first heard about this on the news, there was mention of the lady that found him calling Mary Kate Olson, and THEN 911. The massage therapist was a friend of the Olson twins, but I haven't heard any more on this issue. Did anyone else hear the same thing about the sequence of calls, and if so, what's the significance?
I read the same thing but what I don't get if the first person was so concerned about him why didn't they try to get help and instead of calling the Olsen twin call 911 first. Maybe the pills around the room and the rolled up $20 bill made them think it was illegal drugs around. Regardless of the illegal drugs(and they were none) a persons well being is MORE important than the DIRTY tabloids. That's my own opinion. She was there when he took his LAST breath and probably she could have help him.
Changing a lightbulb while someone sleeps sounds strange,
What a terrible tradgedy, the party is over...Mary-Kate
R.I.P. Heath........
Re: the comment posted by "catesang864"....do you realize how many patients lie to their physician re: what medications they take. We all have different physicians for different problems and therefore different perscriptions. It's our responsibility to know what we're putting in our bodies and how these drugs interact. It is also our responsibility to be honest with our physicians about these things so that they can better serve
us. Maybe we shouldn't all be so quick to sue someone when something goes wrong.......whatever happened to personal responsibility?
I enjoyed the movies Heath Ledger performed in and send my condolences to his family and those who knew him personally. I appreciate the need and/or desire to use his death to educate our society about potential dangers of polypharmaceutical use/abuse. If my memory serves me correctly, there continues to be speculation and comments regarding Elvis Presley???s Marilyn Monroe???s death. Past the notification and cause of Heath Ledger???s death, how does all this ???help??? society? There becomes a point when all of this becomes a gross intrusion to those directly impacted by his death and creates additional psychological trauma for his family and friends. God???s speed, Heath and if I could provide a gift to his family and friends it would be a gift to grieve privately without additional trauma from our society.
