Very sad indeed. I bet this will make the Dark Knight Movie a huge success now. More people than ever before will watch it.

yes but if one med is not working a doctor could prescribe a different one. If he did not throw away the first (or second...) he could potentially have several different types in his home at one time. How many of us get prescriptions, don't use them all, and then keep them for later needs? I have several types of prescriptions in my medicine cabinet currently, all were legally prescribed and none are current prescriptions!

I'm sure there were and are people that knew exactly what he was taking but did absolutely nothing about
it ... maybe even contributed. Now that the man is dead those same people appear to be devastated, since
anyone in their right mind would realize the lethal combination, does this make them maybe a little liable???
His death is a sad tragedy and I'm sure he'il be greatly missed........R.I.P.

Heath Ledger is a actor that I grew up knowing and admiring, I love all his movies and thought he was a very talented individual. He was unlike any other actor, very edgy and unique and thats what made him so special. We give our sympathy to the family for their loss, but also celebrate his life and what he has accomplished!

My uncle died a few years ago. He had a few beers with dinner but by night time, he couldn't sleep. He took Ambient and when it didn't work fast enough, he took another. He didn't wake up the next morning. He was 28. The coroner said that, if he had only taken one, he probably would have woken up in the morning but since he took two, it was a bad combination.

Knowing Heath, I think it was natural causes...We have both taken Alprazolam, and Valium (Diazapam) on numerous occassions. We both had similar problems and suffered from mild anxiety, although mine were more acute when we first met.. I never knew of Heath to use drugs, although he did hit the party circuit for a bit after their split. We both suffered from sleep disorders for years, and for me personally, sometimes it was just easier to over medicate myself and pass out, and I would frequently awake with severe shortness of breath. He was a great guy and will be sadly missed. Please give him the benefit of the doubt, because Heath would have done the same for any of you.

john gibson should be off the air the old idiot who is in need of a nose job not nice to make stupid comments when someone dies

People need to lay off with their theories that he was doing hard core drugs or had done them very recently at the time of his death, if this was the case they would have noted it in the autopsy. The truly sad thing about this is that the family and his loved ones have to deal with all of the stupid speculations when NOTHING has been confirmed. The media is opportunistic and they want to play up anything that crosses their paths just so they can have some exclusive story to tell, while they totally disregard that they are talking about someone???s life and loved one. I lost a very good friend at the age of 24 a few years ago in her sleep suddenly, to this day they do not know exactly what caused her death although they suspect that medicine she had been taking for several years had built up to a toxic level in her system. You CAN die without some sinister motive or sensational reason, sometimes your body reacts to something and that???s all there is to it. I thought from day one he probably accidentally mixed something together or accidentally took too much of something. Sleeping pills are very dangerous, I had a scary experience with Ambien myself and if he suffered from anxiety he probably combined something he shouldn???t have. I don???t think he meant to do it and to be honest I don???t think he was stupid, he could have been misinformed or so exhausted that he wasn???t realizing he was taking a second or third dose of something. One thing that is for certain is the world lost a very talented actor and by all accounts a good human being.

I agree with those who feel there should be a stop to the speculation by all who DIDN'T know Heath Ledger. Only those people who knew the man (and were truly a part of his day-to-day life) have the right to "cast stones" without the investigation coming to close. All it [speculation by the media] does is create a mass "frenzy" that will have doctor's on guard against prescribing benzo's. Caution by the medical profession is a must, but, making the med's almost unavailable to those who need them is all that will likely result. That in itself could be tragic. Thankfully the names of those individuals affected by an increased inability to obtain necessary anxiety medication will not be misspelled in an internet posted article.

There should be some kind of database for doctor's to check to make sure no other doctors have prescribed the same meds or meds that could be potentially lethal if combined. There needs to be some accountability.

I don't think people realized just how easy it is to over dose on prescription medications. I had a tooth worked on last summer. I have terible anxiety about going to the dentist so my dentist prescribed 2 valiums the night before and then 2 more the morning of my appointment and then during my appointment gave me nitris Oxide. I went into respiratory failure twice. It's so easy to be judgemental and want to jump to the worst conclusion. The truth is SEDATIVES can be very dangerous. People need to be educated and warned of their dangers!

Ridiculous article; Most everybody at any given time has perscription drugs (current and expired0 in their house. Antihisimines, antibiotica, antidepession,,anti anxiety, cholestoral lowering, diet, decogestionants, --=-the list is endless and proves or suggests nothing. Just as the tabloid information that he was found nude. Lots of people sleep nude, prepare to shower or even parade around an otherwise empty apartment
in the nude. How about waiting for more difinitive info before speculating and gossipping.

The article did not imply that anything was out of the ordinary with his lack of clothing.

A life that was taken away to young, he had a lot to go for him a daughter that now has no dad and wont get the chance to meet a wonderful guy he was. I send my condolecences to his family. When I was 26, in college I had a throat infection and was haveing a very difficult time sleeping. My Dr. prescribed a sleeping pill. I started takeing them on a Friday and woke up Sunday afternoon. It's like the dr. said, I must not have been getting the effect I wanted right away and unknowingly kept taking the pills. Everytime I started to wake up I must have taken another. This is the first thing I thought of when I heard of Heaths death. I don't know why I'm alive. It is so easy to do, your not wanting to harm yourself, you just want some rest. My heart goes out to Heath's family and I will miss him. T.H.

So far, so many of these comments are way too cynical. Why do people feel the need to judge someone they don't even know, especially when there is no evidence to support their judgements. It's all too sad that there are people out there that are just waiting to pounce on the opportunity to rag on a perfect stranger. None of us truely knew Heath Ledger. We have no idea what he was or wasn't dealing with in his personal life. Even if he was a drug abuser, why should we feel the need to judge him? We should all feel a loss of a very talented person, whether it was to drugs or depression or an accident, Heath Ledger will be greatly missed, not only by his family and friends, but by the world. Just as each and every one of us will be missed when our time comes.

Health Ledger? If it is your job to cover this unfortunate event, it is also your job to show some respect and spell his name right.

were does it say health ledger???

  • Posted By: SK1016 @ 01/24/2008 1:09:35 PM

I think there should be some kind of data base where doctor's can check to see if any other doctor's have prescibed the same meds or other meds that could potentially be lethal. There are too many people going from one doctor to the next trying to get more meds. There should be some kind of accountability placed with the doctor's who prescribed all these meds to him.

I was shocked and saddened at the same time. I agree with some of the other postings listed. Ledger from statements he posted on the media claiming his exhaustion was evidently trying to compensate and "rest and relax". The film industry which was obvious a great love, was his marriage and he went to degree's to satisfy the viewer. We must all understand though that the Medical Industry today is not what it was 30-40 years ago. It's a business and you go in making the requests formally and they see that your in need and have the money to pay for the visit you basically get what you want...but they never explain in any degree how a combination and timeline play a definite role in how the medications work or work together. Here we have a young man that had so much to offer and his life has been taken away so tragically. May God Bless Mr. Ledger's family.
