To jweiss... people are alawys more interested in celebrities... they have such access to personal life details and they feel that they know them through their movies and work... if someone knew the details of the life of the "homeless guy in the park" they would likely be just as affected by his death.

I am sure Heath Ledger was greeted with the words "Be of good cheer: it is I be not afraid." For the church that is planning to picked Health funeral, they should remember,"Be not righteous overmuch." With the day coming, where thy to will be judge,"Out of thine own mouth will I judge thee."

Why are you speculating as to what he took, or how much or why. Why does his family have to feel like they have to defend him when there is no evidence he even accidently overdosed at this point?. I read the newsweek article thinking it would not ge gossip and your just as bad as the other trash. What a shame. Can nothing happen with out your frigging experts who have no clue what happened to him weighing in. He was wonderful and it's a horrible tragedy, can't you just leave it at that, because that's all we really know for sure.

You should not be bothered he was a special person who as left emptyness in so many peoples hurt. We all have choices and if we chose to grieve him and express our sadness then let us, dont judge . That not what this is about. Besides this incident may in fact save many peoples lifes, it could be an eye opener to those who may be taking the same medication. So in hes own right he may well be a solder to us all.

I just read the latest report from CNN which was simultaniuosly brodcasted in the New York Time databank and should be front page news tomorrow. Apparently the Medical Examiners report was released to the family today. It showed that there was no trace of illegal substances in Heath Ledger's body and there was only a small trace of 2 drugs that were found in his room, thus ruling out overdose. The report goes on to state that "it appears Mr Ledger suffered a mild stroke that rendered him unconcious". They are now reporting that it was complications resulting from the stroke that caused Heath Ledger's death. They have not released any details beyond what I have just shared with you, however I am sure it will be well known with in the hour.
In today's society where journalism revolves around a jumble of half truths, I think the media has shown alot of class when dealing with this sensitive subject. I have read many reports speculating that "drugs may be a factor" however with each report came a disclaimer stating no evidence could support that theory. I appreciate the respect the media has shown to the family and friends of Heath Ledger and the acknoledgment of his vast accomplishments as an actor.

I agree agree that it is sad of Rev Fred Phelps to do anything to hinder the memorial of Mr. Ledger. Rev Phelps should be ashamed of himself for doing so. A christian? I think not. A christian would welcome and accept anyone irregardless, just as Jesus himself does, and to the person who commented on physicians overdosing patients. A physician simply prescribed the medication. In many cases the problem lies in the patient seeing more than one physician and not informing each physician of the medications he/she was already prescribed by other physicians. Also sometimes OD occur as a lack of communication between the physician prescribing the medication and the patient. Information about prescribed medications should be given to the patient so the patient is aware of "side effects and other medications to avoid". Communication or should I say "the lack there of" is the main reason for medication errors throughout hospitals in the US. As a result our healthcare system is in dire need of reform.

The mere fact that a religious group (baptist) CHRISTIANS....would protest a memorial service makes me sick... what is wrong with these people... they are basing a protest on a motion picture (not an actual fact) that he played a role in....He wasn't GAY he was playing a gay part..... come on.. If the law enforcement let this happen during a funeral (memorial service) where a family has lost a young life, the public should take action after the service... This takes JUDGEMENT DAY TO THE MAX>>>>> Let that family grieve...The loss of a child is a complete emotional devistation without complications of PROTESTORS......

I agree entirely. This world is full of homophobes anyway. It's rediculous that they would judge such a talented young man just because he played the role of a gay guy. Furthermore, I think it was gutsy of him to take on such a controversial role in the first place, really showing what a strong actor and unique person he was.

Help!!! I don't mean to gossip, but I can't help but be curious. Did he for sure take all those drugs? I thought they were just in his appartment. When did you guys get the actual report that said he overdosed? How do you know that we need to start blaming the doctors? How do you know he was depressed and commited suicide. How do you know he was a stupid and selfish man? How do you know that he didn't really love his life or his family? How do you know what happend? What report did you read?

Tragedy has struck yet another young and inspiraitonal actor to many of us out here. Being both stunned, surprised and saddened by his passing, I can only imagine what his loved ones are facing. The controversies over his death shouldn't be about the drugs in his apartment, since he wasn't a known abuser nor was he known to have the nightlife that some others have and take for granted everyday. We should remember what a loving, inspirational, devoted parent, husband and son he was known to be. Yes, people speculate as to WHAT THEY THINK might have caused his death, but in all realities we have lost a beautiful person. My heart goes out to his mother, father, daughter and those who have come to know and love him....AneishaNY

I think he was so depressed after his relation broke down with his wife Michelle , from then on he was not in a normal mood, as we can see him in several pictures and videos with her, smiling and always feeling happy.

What you "think" about the reason for his death is irrevelant. You were not there during the relationship and you were not there to speak with him at the time of his demise. I "think" this comment shows little respect for him and his family in this face of the lost they've suffered.

Jenfromsouth. I posted a reply, but it does not appear. I normally do not stutter when I speak, but I must repond to your comment: do you people read the labels ..... Just about everything (including meds) comes these days with a long unintelligible label written by lawyers (I'm one) to protect manufacturers from liability for their products. They are so common place and their aforesaid unintelligible character so well known, that I daresay most people give them the most cursory of reviews. Explaining interactions etc is for doctors and pharmacists. The problem is that medical drug treatment is so difficult to obtain and so expensive that people cheat. Again, why are you seeking to blame the victim? Who pays your salary anyway?

    • Posted By: jenfromsouth @ 01/24/2008 4:41:10 PM

Bob I don't have an issue with you .... . My issue is with regulation of meds by the govt. I don't think a databaase is for everybody. If my sleeping pill is not working and I need a different kind or a different antidepressant I don't need the govt or a pharmacy to tell me I can't have it cause I was prescribed one that did not work for me say a week prior. Databases like this will track everything you do medically and it's really just between me and my insurance company and my doctor. I have the sense to read the labels and on my little bottle it says clearly
      1- May cause dizziness
2- may cause drowsiness, alcohol may intensify the effect, use caution when operating machinary. Do NOT operate a car. This medicine contains tylenol that can cause liver disease if taken higher than recommended. Take with Food. Then I have a whole batch of instructions on what drugs this med interferes with.
Obviously people don't listen and don't read. But do NOT please make my life the business of the govt. I have nothing to hide, I just dislike being regulated.
Then hey go on the internet and read about your drug in laymans terms before you swallow it, which is what I do If I am not familar with a med. Again this is not ripping into Heath at all this is about people thinking that our business should be a national database. People will always make wrong choices and abuse drugs no matter what but freedom to make choices is what I want.

People, especially the media, are so naive when it comes to illegal drugs. Automatically the emphasis on cocaine with the suspision of the $20.00 bill, well maybe if this were the 1980s. Powder heroin which is now commonly snorted, not injected, and considerably more accessible would make more sense. If that were the case, heroin, and all those benzodiazepines would certainly cause respiratory depression, if not faiure.

Reading other people comments it came to my mind that terrible things can alert and prevent other people to do the same mistakes. I know in my heart that he did not commit suicide i just know it I can explain it. Please when using prescription drugs read all the labels and beware be very carefu so this terrible accident does not happen again. My condolences to his familiy in this terrible ordeal and I will pray for his soul to rest in peace.

stop excusing his being so tired from it all for his taking meds. Did he ever hear of the word "no". He above all of us had the money to take a break from work/acting.

You obviously have never been diagnosed with Insomnia. Before you make such comments, educate yourself. It is ignorance like this that causes these types of deaths in the first place.

I am from Topeka Kansas the unfortunate home of "Rev" Fred Phelps. I have heard roomers that Phelps intends to picked Heath Ledgers funeral because of his roll in the movie ???Brokeback Mountain???. I would love to see fans and loved ones turn out to prevent Phelps from hindering Ledgers family in their time of morning.

All my prayers to the family.

If you've never lost a child, you can't empathize or imagine the pain felt, especially when that is such a special person. A "hole" is left in your soul that can't and won't be filled soon or easily. It won't be filled at all; but with time it gets easier to handle.

God bless the family and prayers for you in this time of sorrow.

I 'll miss his movies and his charm. Still hope to see the two movies in which he was making ...... He will live forever in his movies and interview with the world. His little girl will have a loss in her heart, but with time it will heal... I would like to express to his family how he will be miss by many of fans, friends, but loved in all heart..... Heath had a short life in hollywood, but had made a impression on all he touched...... I hope that the medis will not drag his good name in the ground in which they have in the pass... Let the family heal and grieve...... This is what it is a tragic, and nothing more let the family keep his last moments in a positive way .... May this beautiful and fun loving person live on in this work and interviews..... Bless the family and his heir ................................................. He'll be very much so missed and forever young in heart.

I must say that when I heard of Heath Ledger's death I felt an emptiness in my stomach, something like when you know that you have to start a new school and you dont know anyone. You feel sick to your stomach and it hurts deep inside your guts! He was an AWESOME actor and played his parts incredibly well and made a person really feel like they were a part of his role. 10 Things I Hate about You was probably one of my favorite movies because he plays into a bet but starts to fall for the girl and...oh my we have lost a very talented young actor and my thoughts and prayers go out to his beloved family, daughter Matilda (she is cute as a button) and his true love Michelle! I dont know what I would do if I lost my husband, it must be hard to grasp that he is really gone! Remember all the good times you all had with Heath while he was alive and celebrate his life, dont mourn his death! His legacy will live on in his precious daughter Matilda! God Bless and may he rest in Peace! He will be missed by many! My thoughts and prayers are with his family!
