    Dear blsmendukung:
    1. You're name is too long
    2. He's covering two Democrats, not one party over another.
    3. Chill out
    4. Hillary is a loser

I was looking forward to a terrific intra-party campaign for the Dems as well as the Republicans. As a life-long Democrat and woman, I am giving Mr, Obama and Mr. Edwards a much closer second look because I am tired of the Clintons' strategy over the past few weeks. Cheap shots are not what I want my party associated with and during a historical primary campaign. Making the move to discredit your opponent with innuendo and misinformation gives me flashbacks to the Republicans and the dirty tricks of Nixon and Carl Rove. GET YOUR ACTS TOGETHER PEOPLE!!
I don't want to look back in January of next year - as a Republican is voted into office - and wish I had been able to smack Hillary and Barack upside their heads and muzzle Bill!
Even giving Bill Clinton credit for going where no man has gone before, he must remember that he is a former president and his wife can fight her own battles. It's not up to him to get down and dirty. Those days are over for him. He's now relegated to the political Hall of Fame and not a player anymore. I am having more thoughts of how I want the First Spouse to behave and realizing that this is not a good role for Bill. He doesn't know when to get out of his (or his wife's) own way!
I would hate to think a woman might lose the White House because of her husband's behavior, but it could conceivably come down to that (and isn't Hillary on thin ice here, as many female voters I have spoken to won't vote for her because of her husband's behavior while he was president. Do we want to remind them of this?
Can we please stick to the issues and get the facts straight? I'm insulted by the behavior of the Clintons and at the moment and I believe if there is not a significant change of strategy on the part of her campaign, Hillary will lose my vote. I am not the only voter/woman to think that way. . .

Your article sums it up perfectly but unfortunately the Clintons just may be right to use this patronizing strategy. Don't forget Bush was elected for a second term. Bill Clinton is often referred to as a political genious but is actually only a gifted con man, a manipulative good ol boy who could pick your pocket with an ear to ear grin and expect you to thank him for lightening your load.

Yes, the Clintons have taken this whole issue out of context, and I agree that it's a rather sucky way for them to attract voters..by betting that the average voter is too dumb to understand that Obama wasn't really praising Reagan so much as stating a political fact. Yet I also wonder why you don't mention that Barack Obama soundly lied about his stances on single-payer health care and his vapid explanation as to why he voted so many times present instead of yes or no while in Illinois (hmmm, maybe bc it was politically savvy?). Anyway, as we all know, the media and press are in love with beating up on Hillary and crowning Barack Obama the world's savior (Newsweek, CNN, etc.), so this sort of Clinton-bashing isn't really surprising...it's just disappointing that all the elite pundits and analysts so easily fall into that category of people who care more about how savvy and in tune with the future they sound than actual issues that affect everyday voters. The Clintons certainly have a lot of baggage (and some of the criticisms leveled against them are there for a good reason), but isn't political journalism supposed to be about laying the truth out there about everyone involved, not just the person who is the easiest to criticize?

Agree completely. It is stunning to watch the Clintons in action. Obama is the first face of the future of the Democratic Party that really contrasts with where we have been. I would like to think the Democratic Party would see the opportunity Obama provides. It is disgusting to what what the Clintons are doing and the damage it will do in the longer term.

So much for unbiased reporting by the media. Anyway neither candidate is playing fair in my book, but the only difference is the media is supporting Obama, thus we only see the dirty part of her campaign. Why isn???t the media writing about Obama???s past and finding out why he voted present all those times in the Senate. Yes he is a great speaker and can work a crowd but what has he really done? Great speeches do not make great leaders. Actions make great leaders. So let???s focus on what are the candidates real accomplishments are and not how they are spinning stories to one up each other.

With that said, I am not a fan of Hillary but I would vote for her over a republican in the presidential election. However, if for Obama win???s I would give the republication candidate my vote since I think when it comes to foreign policy Obama will be another Jimmy Carter.

I am a California African-American Democrat. Simply stated, the Clintons will not get my vote, or the vote of the people I know, for president.
Thank you Iowa, for clearly showing to the world, that a state full of white people, did indeed vote for the best candidate, who happens to be black. California will take it from here.
So for bill to stir up ***, should be beyond the dignity or tactics, of a former president.

So, who brings race into play? Grow up: Politics is hardball, like it or not. If you are a true Democrat, you are tired of what Republicans have provided this nation. However, it sounds as if you, an Afican American, would rather work against your self intersts based on race: i.e, an African American is treated like any other candidate in the give and take. Obama shouldn't win just because he is an African American! FYI, I will vote for Obama if he wins the primary elections..

The author of this article is an idiot who is doing exactly what he says the Clinton's are doing, mischaracterizing and sensationalizing a story for effect.

As far as Mr. Clinton being a "liar", this was a private matter between him and his wife. I'd much rather have someone lie about their extramarital activity than about things that actually concern the nation's welfare, like Iraq, Iran, etc.

I love how many Republicans are so quick to play with smoke and mirrors.

I was a big fan of Bill Cliton, but since this primary started and I listen to him talking I am really turn off by their attitudes and lies. I was expecting him to stay above the dirty politics. I understand he wants to help his wife get elected but he is out there hurting a lot of people. He may win the battle by winnig the primary against Obama but they will lose the presidential election. I am starting to lean for Mccain if Obama lose, I hate seeing the Clitons on tv now. It's so wrong!!!!

Do the Clintons believe the American people can't see through the lies. am a 61 year old and have been a Democrat all my life. I do not buy the arugment that Clinton was a great President. If Clinton is great at anything it is, LYING.

"I did not have sex with that woman".

He is a perjurer who brought disgrace to the Presidency.

Lets not go back to the Clintons, lets turn the page and move forward.

      Compare your life ......

Is everything as wonderful as it was when PRESIDENTS CLINTON were in office.

  • Posted By: Ougie46 @ 01/24/2008 1:17:00 PM

Do the Clintons think that the American people can be fooled with their lies?

It is time to turn the page and not go back to the Politics of Destruction that the Clintons employed from 1992-2000. Enough of Bush and Clinton.

I am 61 years old and have been a Democrat all my life.

I do not buy the argument that Bill Clinton was a great President. If he was great at anything, it was LYING.

"I did not have sex with that woman", for starters.

I am sick of Bill and Hillary C linton, neither cares about this country. Hillary is in it for herself and Bill can't get off the stage.

Enough already...lets turn the page and make America great again.

You are showing too much of a bias against the Clintons. Some objective reporting would definitely be more appropriate. What have they done against you personally? Al the adjectives you used for the Clintons are always negative. Is Barack such a baby that he needs you to protect him? Isn't he running for the most powerful position in the world? He is so easily flustered!

You guys have hit the nail on the head. Weeks ago following Obama's first win in Iowa I was surprised by the Clintons' sour-grapes response and negativity. I was also on the fence but had no ill-feelings regarding Hillary like many people do. I mentioned in several forums how I was surprised by their actions and wondered if others would see how they were fighting unfairly and dishonestly. Now I'm finally seeing the tide turn; lots of people are beginning to see through their political games including other politicians and thankfully they're speaking out publically. I was once on the fence leaning towards Obama but now I'm completely in support of him. I was thinking the other day how sad it would be for the country if we lost an opportunity to have a presidency that was based on integrity. Rarely do we have the chance to get true leaders into the Whitehouse and not fast-talking politicians. The thought of missing out on moving this country in a direction where we'd once again be respected in the world nearly brought me to tears - and I became angry all over again about the Clintons! :) It really bothers me that they could be jeopardizing this rare opportunity.

Purposefully orchestrating issues of race and gender to get back into the White House, appealing to the Hispanic votes on an ethnic basis in NV, the Clintons are truly playing out what Dick Morris, intimately familiar with the Clintons' scorched earth politics predicted: that they would inject race, with each story individually spun, so that collectively the divisive race issue would create a media story while the Clintons' complicity in the incitement will avoid detection or blame. I'm so sickened by the Clintons at this point -- I???m having the same reaction to them as I've been having to Bush for a while ??? immediately switching channels once their faces surface or the newscasters parrot the latest from their mouths. I now understand why Republicans hate them so bitterly, why the country became so polarized, and why the US ultimately put Bush with a stupid but honest image into office after Clinton???s administration. None of this had made sense to me before. As a party loyalist, I had just, well, tuned out and dismissed what my Republican friends said about the Clintons as just being partisan, but seeing their behavior now with open eyes and ears as just a candidate to be evaluated within my own party -- I must say I'm repulsed. I had no idea they were such slime. I remember the prayer group that Hillary had belonged to during Bill's cheating years, and the sympathy of course I felt, but I now wonder, was that an act, too? How can anyone with a shred of conscience behave the way that she and her husband are behaving? God save America.

It???s the electability, stupid. Democrats, please pay attention: Hillary cannot win the general and that is the ONLY point worth putting out at this crucial moment of the primaries. Don't get distracted or side-tracked: put every other piece of info, scrappy fight, comment by surrogates, squabble, newspaper article, blog, story and propaganda-filled speech aside. Its not about race or gender or policies or change or experience. You only need to know ONE piece of information to make your decision: no candidate can win a general election that is not supported by half of her own party. Keep your eye on the 11/08 ball before it???s too late. She is the only thing that will rally the struggling Republican Party. Tell every Democrat and Independent you know: a vote for Hillary is a vote for John McCain, HIS war in Iraq and an economy that will not recover for a very long time. Why does the DNC not recognize this? We are running out of time to put an end to the eight, and I now fear 12, years of negative and never-endingly bad mojo and the moment to do something about it is right now. So stop talking and go out and do something. One simple first step? Email The DNC and tell them how you feel about the way The Clintons are leading our party and running their campaign. http://www.democrats.org/page/s/contactissues . Pass it on.

I have to agree with the two recent comments in that I have seen opinions of hard core Democrats being shifted from supporting the Clintons to "not supporting the Clintons." As a female, I felt a certain pride in that our Society and Culture have evolved to a time in which it is possible for a female to become the leader of a once male dominated political domain. However, I have to admit that I have become embarrassed by the Clintons discriminating game playing behavior. Hillary, this is your chance to bring about positive change in a male dominated society. Don't stoop to Bill's level and mess this up for all of us!!
