OBAMA needs to remind Bill CLinton Who he is. This is the problem with the Clintons they are not guided by principles, they make decisions based on what 's best for them politically. They have played the race card, which is against their principles, but yet they went ahead and did it. That means they do not have confidence in their so called substantive plans. Hillary went against her principles and tried to cover up what Bill DID. This is why the Clinton are not entitlied to the WHITE HOUSE. THey have brought a lot of pain to the political process and I am shocked how quick people can sell their soul. If Bill only did it once then it is understandable, but he did it everyday for decades and HIllary knew but kept herself in denial. Obama needs to attack the Clintons with their own words because what they are doing is worrie me>> Here is an example
of How OBAMA can flip the race card back onto the CLINTON"S.
THE Clintons are ambivalent about America'ss role in the world, this was clearly highlighted in the after a September 11, when CLINTON in a speech at Gerogetown suggested that America actually bore some responsibility for the attacks on itself. In November 2001, even as the new Bush administration was launching America's military response, the former president made a speech at Georgetown University in which he admonished citizens who were descended "from various European lineages" that they were "not blameless," and that America's past involvement in slavery should humble them as they confronted their attackers. Characteristically the President took no responsibility for his own failure to protect Americans from the attacks.

OBAMA TAKE MY ADVICE, YOU HAVE TO FIGHT
The same entities run both parties. CLINTON use to be what OBAMA stood for. NOW Hillary and Bill are the establishment and are now using words like slum, and insinuating that OBAMA is black and playing to the white vote. WHITE voters recognize this flip flop, this is why white men have not come out and vote for Hillary.

First, I have been a loyal DNC member my entire life. However, this year???s presidential campaign had made me wonder if the DNC and my vision, and view points are in alignment with each other.

Sen. Obama???s message of hope and unity are extremely powerful. People need to hear something positive and inspiring, in order to motivate the American people to take action in our electoral process and allow people to believe in our federal government and its role in our lives.

Second, it is apparent to me that the Clintons are willing to do anything and say anything, in order to get them back into the white house. This is not necessary. Sen. Obama has some innovative and wonderful ideas. His ideas should be heard because that will show Americans that we have 3 viable candidates and the Democratic Party have better ideas than the republicans. But, we are not able to hear his ideas because the Clintons are distorting Obama???s record, stance and issues, shamelessly. They change their message and distortions depending on the crowd that they are speaking to, further dividing different groups of people within the party.

Lastly, the DNC has a unique opportunity to take the party in a new direction and transform the landscape of politics in this new century. I hope you will take seriously people like me who are pleading with you and asking that you recognize this opportunity and support Obama. He has energized young people to be involved, he is bringing people from different parties to the DNC and has been running a phenomenal campaign. Obama is showing that he is of high moral character and is consistent in his views.

The Clintons had a chance to make government more ethical. Hillary had an opportunity to reform health care. Bill had an opportunity to catch Bin Laden. He also had an opportunity to end genocide in Rwanda. Well, they were not able to accomplish any of those things while in office. What they offered to the American people was a balanced budget, scandal, drama and a torn apart democratic party. Then, what have you seen during this entire campaign, the same ???ol, same ???ol.

This should be an obvious choice. The DNC and Obama should join forces and take the party and America into the future. I do not want to go backwards.

Excellent column. I particularly enjoyed the parallel to Adlai Stevenson, a comparison I have been promoting in the Huffington Post, begining January 19th. This is what I said, which shows just how apt Mr. Alter's comparison is"

"At this juncture, it seems particularly appropriate to paraphrase Sen. Gene McCarthy's nominating speech of another Illinois Democrat at the 1960 Democratic Convention, as its sentiments reflect how a lot of us Democrats now feel about Barack Obama's candidacy:

"There is only one man who said, 'Let's talk sense to the American people.'

"There is only one man who said, 'Let's talk sense to the American people.' ...

"Do not turn your backs on this man.

"Do not turn your back on this man who has made us all proud to be Democrats.

"Do not leave this prophet without honor in his own party. ...

"Ladies and Gentlemen, I present to you not the favorite son of one state but the favorite son of 50 states; the favorite son of every country he has visited and the favorite son of every country he has not visited, but who are secretly thrilled by his name.

"Ladies and Gentlemen, I present to you, Barack Obama of Illinois ..."

I have to remind myself that Bill Clinton was a Rhodes Scholar and praised by the Black community as the first black President. His current behavior is a disgrace to both honors. He and Hillary are coming off as tricky politicians willing to do and say anything to win.As a law student once myself,he and his wife now bring back haunting memories of the students that took important books out of the law library,to gain the competitive edge. He proved he was dishonest in the Lewinsky scandal.I guess he feels compelled to make up for it with his recent actions.

I can't be the only voter in this country who is already sick oh listening to Obama (and his supporters) crying about the Clinton campaign "ganging up" on him and that he "doesn't know who he's running against". Suck it up, no one's making you run. If you can't take questions from your own party, how are you going to handle running against the Republican machine?

    • Posted By: jmschmieder @ 01/24/2008 5:02:24 PM

The Republican "machine" won't have wheels until after the convention in August. Listen up Dems, you want to win against the Republicans? Ditch the Clintons. Independents like myself who are disenchanted with the Republicans are going to flock to them in droves if you nominate her.

I am a 2 time Bush voter who hates what this Country has become, but recognizes my responsibility in bringing this about. The only way I will vote Republican is if you nominate her.

We need to be United. We need to recognize our common ground. 4 more years of partisan bickering is all the Clintons offer. 50/50% split, more court cases, partisan nonsense, and a Country that suffers.

WE NEED REGIME CHANGE - End the political dynasty - Never another Bush, Never another Clinton.

20 years of two families is enough.

two times huh? So did my wife. She's ready to vote for Obama, but Hillary is out of the question. When pigs fly, at the earliest is her position.

Obama's big problem is the Latino Vote. They are the x factor and is one reason that Hillary is using the race card. Latino's are going to vote for Hillary three to one. So Barak Obama not only needs the black vote but the white one as well. He is both black and white and needs to play that card hard. If he can take Florida he can win.

  • Posted By: ericrsiny @ 01/24/2008 10:00:02 PM

Barack Obama On Bill Clinton: "He can be as vigorous an advocate on behalf of her as he would like. The only thing I've been concerned about is when he makes misstatements about my record"

Michelle Obama on Bill Clinton: "Barack Obama isn't relying on a former president of the United States to campaign for him"

Well which is it? Can Bill campaign as hard as he wants for Hillary or can he not as Michelle is implying?

I hope Barak Obama and John Edwards join forces soon.

  • Posted By: Mwalimu @ 01/24/2008 9:52:00 PM

For once I agree with Alter. I am totally against the tactics Bill and Hillary Clinton are using. Democrats need to work as a team. Thiis campaign does not represent team-manship. As a registered Democrat in Los Angeles, Hillary Clinton is definitely my last choice. I tend to favor Obama - but I also like Edwards. I wish they would team up. Or I wish I could split my vote. I might add LA Weekly, our undergroud paper has run two articles criticizing Hillary Clinton's tactics. I might add that in California, independents can vote in party primaries. That might have some effect on the election

I wonder what distortions the Clintons will use when Hillary loses the general election in a landslide and takes the democratic party down with her.

I am a voter. I am intelligent. I am voting for Hillary!

David Horowitz is the author of numerous books including an autobiography, Radical Son, which has been described as the first great autobiography of his generation. It chronicles his odyssey from radical activism in the 60s to his current position as the head of the David Horowitz Freedom Center and who one journalist has called "the left's most articulate nemesis." His book, The Art of Political War was described by White House political strategist Karl Rove as The perfect guide to winning on the political battlefield.Left Illusions is an anthology of 40 years of his writings. His latest books are The Professors, which documents the debasement of the academic curriculum by tenured leftists, The Shadow Party, which describes the radical left's control of the Democratic Party's electoral machine and Indoctrination U., which is an in-depth look at how indoctrination has taken the place of education in today's college classroom.

Do you know that the Arabs have the Clinton's in their pockets. This is where Obama can gain ground on the Clintons. REmember the Clinton's sold the Lincoln Bedroom to the Chinese. We are in debt and we are dealing with it in the wrong way. Bush/Clinton are run by the same financial entities. What is good for George Sorros is good for George Bush. Obama is the only candidate can bring factions together in order to implement an economic plan that is in the best interest of the United States, NOT INDIA, NOT CHINA AND NOT SAUDI ARABIA"S best interest, AMERICA"S BEST INTEREST.

Let's face it. In order to gain raders or viewers, the media needs something 'exciting' to report. They constantly 'interpret' what the candidates are saying as if they had a pipeline into their minds! The media goads the participants on, just like a bunch of kids trying to start a fight between two kids, but they think their hands are clean. Listen to what the candidates say and less to what the media interpretors say. We are blessed with three good candiates and I will support whomever wins the nomination. I will support them because I support the Democratic platfor much more than I do the Republican one. I want a withdrawal from Iraq, stem cell research, tolerance of others, and the restoration of civil rights. The fiery, often misinformed dialogue just gives the media more fuel. Our problem is that we confuse commentators with news reporters. Let's hold them accountable.

  • Posted By: goldsteinm1 @ 01/24/2008 5:46:56 PM

Parenthetically: The republican hate machine spent the money...Bill meets all the criteria for a sex addict and was stupid. But the time wasted on the impeachments should have cooked the Republicans who did nothing for two years. That said, I have been shouting "Bill, Shut UP" for weeks and I think he has destroyed Hillary's chances. It was particularly important that she fight her own battles given stereotypes about females. I have changed from a supporter to confused. I will probably not support her.

You are right on target goldsteinmi. She cannot be a commander in chief and command the respect of our troops if she continually leans on Bill to fight her battles. He is not going to be the President, as much as he wishes it, but if Hllary is elected, it will be extremely difficult to tell exactly who is the President! Bill, you had your chance and close to blew it . It's time to SHUT UP and let Hillary show us who she really is!
