McCain has proved on national TV that he does not have a clue! The two biggest issues on American minds are 1. The War 2. The Economy As Dr. Paul has accurately pointed out, they are both one in the same issue. McCain with his "straight talk" and his previous assertion that "I'm well versed in economics" proved again how far he is out of step with America and the issues! Ron Paul is the only hope for America! Ron Paul 2008!

Mccain has said the number one issue with americans is islamic extremists. Which I disagree, my number one issue would be immigration - but they didn't poll me for some reason. If immigration were handled, and I mean handled rather than talked about by both sides, I would be happy as that would solve problems on our soil. As far as Dr. Paul, great ideas, but to grandiose for a two party system that can't get along. I have heard Paul's arguments, but no clear cut way how he would accomplish, or how he would get both parties to assist in accomplishing. And we already know, democrats are as spread as a cow taking a leak on a flat rock.... they are everywhere! So, getting them united is crazy. We don't need someone with great ideas as much as we need someone that can unite the parties together. Romney's the man....

See, this is why McCain can't win. This if from Bill Cinton re: Hillary Clinton:
    ----------
And then he painted this scene: ???She and John McCain are very close,??? he said. ???They always laugh that if they wound up being the nominees of their party, it would be the most civilized election in American history and they???re afraid they???d put the voters to sleep because they like and respect each other.???

I thought it was the most grown up debate to date. No fireworks, but the debate is not suppose to be drama or entertainment, but rather an exchange of ideas. I congratulate MSNBC in that they gave Ron Paul his camera time, although still less then half of any other candidates 'talking' time. I also thought his points were most interesting and controversial but apparently this writer did not. Now that its down to five candidates, I expect to see Dr. Paul get a lot more backing as people come to know him. Maybe in your next article you could help in this process?

The Romney Whisper - Was He Miked for Debate?

In yesterday''s MSNBC Florida debates, when Romney is asked a question about Ronald Reagan - "will you do for social security what Ronald Reagan did in 1983"- you can hear a voice whisper "he raised taxes" and then Romney says "I''m not going to raise taxes, what I''m going to do ..."

This is spreading across the internet, click the YouTube link to hear the exchange. I heard this too, and thought what was that and figured it was John or someone else, But why would they help Romney. Russert is known for these types of questions, and it would make sense to see if Romney knew what his hero really did on Social Security. My guess is a frequency picked up on the signal going to Mitt''s miked ear piece.

    Anyway, see for yourselves...

I heard it too...didn't know what to make out of it. Here's a blog post with a different perspective. MSNBC did pick it up in their political blog, but then yanked the post. Not sure what that was all about:

I absolutely heard this as well and even rewound to make sure I wasn't mistaken. Not to mention, he came off if that answer almost without letting the question to be asked in it's totality:

When all of the time is spent asking nothing to a collection of nobodies, little can be expected. As always, the only honest, authentic American on the stage was ignored. Only Ron Paul can defeat Hillary. If the Republicrats succeed in eliminating Dr. Paul, we could see a ticket of Hillary and McCain; no difference between them. They could just take turns being on top (being President, that is).

  • Posted By: jamesmcmichael @ 01/25/2008 3:44:53 PM

If you had paid any more attention and given more time to the one decent, authentic American patriot on that stage (Ron Paul), you would have heard something worthwhile. When 90% of the "debate" is spent asking nothing of nobodies . . . the result is predictable.

You really need to look into McCain's POW story and all the other POW stories that tell another version. Why do you believe in someone who has no clue of economics. only war war war. If you were smart you would see that this country is going broke and borrowing money from China to send you all checks. Sorry buddy, if you look at the video evidence......RON PAUL IS AMERICA. You don't see any of that for McCain or any other Republican.

McCain is not a hero, he is courageous for living through POW life. The guy that rescued him was the hero. Who is that guy. Does John ever thanks him? Does he want to be thanked by John?

Sacrifice is the guy that put a giant USA in a
freakin rice paddy in 1988 and the McCain led commitee left him there to this day.
McCain gets his money from all the same corps that they all do except Ron Paul who gets most of his money from regular people because we believe in what he does each day for this country. Not for what he was during some war...which BTW he was a flight surgeon and saved people's lives......HERO.

Name me a life McCain saved???????????? except his own

    Hey "Holly"...

Your incredible bias against Romney in this article is typical of the liberal minded MSNBC corp that Limbaugh talks about.

EVERYONE, including the MSNBC staff last night, made note of how Romney clearly won the debate - with several humerous and insightful comments.

Did you write this article BEFORE the debate?

Romney has RAISED MORE MONEY THAN ANY OTHER CANDIDATE - for a reason!

  • Posted By: bparson79 @ 01/25/2008 3:37:08 PM

"McCain is America".....please....he totally fumbled through Ron Paul's question last night....he had no clue what he was talking about and then to rely on his advisors, that was a weak answer IMHO. We need somebody that completely understands the economy and knows how to fix the problem at its core. The core of the problem is economic and moreso about our monetary policy than anything else. Everybody else was a joke....Ron Paul is what America should be and what it was intended to be.

  • Posted By: bparson79 @ 01/25/2008 3:23:21 PM

This is getting out of control....NO MENTION OF RON PAUL....C'mon....This isn't America anymore....We need Ron Paul in the White House to help put an end to this and fix this severely broken country.

For anyone who doesn't think that the immigration issue isn't 'the' issue please take a look at this presentation. It only takes a few minutes, but it is extremely powerful in its content.

Ron Paul is the only conservative running.

You fake conservatives are soon going to have to choose b/w the Constitutional foundations your party used to stand for or this hi-jacked "Neocon-Trotskyite-Chickenhawk-Economy-destroying" joke of a party you have now.

Get over your egos and vote Ron Paul for the sake of the country! My God man!

  • Posted By: 726126 @ 01/25/2008 3:06:08 PM

What about the only CONSERVATE running----DR. RON PAUL

Doesn't the mainstream know that completly ignoring him only creates mor publicity?

He won the majority of the Straw Polls, raised the most money, and beats the liberal son-of-a-crime-boss Guiliani in every single Primary.

    C'mon folks.

Every reader knows Newsweek leans to the "LEFT".

Like CNN they have too much $$$ inversted in the Democrat party to report the real facts.

  • Posted By: citizen123 @ 01/25/2008 2:58:26 PM

MITT ROMNEY IS THE ONLY FRONT-RUNNER WHO IS COMMITED TO "NOT-GRANTING-AMNESTY" TO LAW-BREAKING ILLEGAL ALIENS.

McCain is promising illegal aliens retroactive social security money for all the years they spent on illegal jobs; providing illegal labor; while using FAKE and stolen Social security numbers!

If you have had your SSN stolen; you will be forced to go to court to fight for your own social security benefits! That's what McCain wants!

VOTE FOR MITT ROMNEY! HE'S THE BEST CHOICE!

  • Posted By: citizen123 @ 01/25/2008 2:57:32 PM

    Go Mitt! GOoooooo!
Governor Romney is the clear choice for Republicans looking for a candidate with real-world experience and a decades-long track record of creating real jobs for real people."

  • Posted By: mom42 @ 01/25/2008 2:50:40 PM

I liked the debate. They discussed their view. They did not tear each other apart. Everybody says they hate all the fighting and just tell us what you would do if you were President. That is exactly what they did. I now have a better view of the Republican Candidates. I think you are completely wrong. It was very interesting.

  • Posted By: Observer12 @ 01/25/2008 2:43:12 PM

I thought the best comment of the debate was from Mitt Romney, "I'm not going to Washington to make friends with politicians," he said, "I'm going to Washington to change things."

    Amen

The "obscure financial-policy group" you sited that Ron Paul asked McCain if he supported is the Plunge Protection Team that holds up our stock market when it is falling. It is pure manipulation of our supposedly "free" markets. The fact that McCain didn't even know what it was was obvious by the way he answered. He is not going to have the economic knowledge to save our system as he intends to depend on a team of others for this expertise. He is very weak on an economic background and this should hurt him
when it is recognized by more people. Go Ron Paul!

Nice to see a debate of "grown-ups" after the backbiting, squabbling, infantile name-calling of the Democrats.
