Comment: I'm Hispanic. I was born in Colorado. I will not vote for a black person to be commander and chief of America's armed forces. Why? I don't trust the Blacks whose history is constant compaining, marching, boycotting, rioting, whining, (After Michael Richards apologized, Sinbad loudly and arrogantly said.."It's not enough!" when Mel Gibson apologized, it wasn't enough. Nothing pleases the Blacks except to be coddled and apologized to constantly. They're overly sensitive, demand to be heard before anyone.

It is so wearisome to hear them brag how great they are, how proud they are to be black, yet on television they are there trying to look white, act white, talk white. They are nothing like Latinos. I know some claim to be Latino, but if they knew history they would find out that if you're black you are from Africa, not Spain, Israel or Portugal.

Comment: Many pundits and much of the press claimed that the Latino vote would be "decisive". This perspective has proven to be overblown as the Latino vote appears to have fallen into near-irrelevance. Apparently, demographics don't necessarily translate into votes.
Comment: I think the circumstance is just as the article states. The clash between black and brown has to do with the factors that were indicated in the article in relation to competition and the poverty that exists in the neighborhoods that they share. Ignorance toward what the actual ramifications are of black vs. brown or brown vs. black is what makes that collision even greater. Living in a such negative environments accetuates negative behaivor and since it is either black or brown residing as neighbors in such environments, they are those who are victims of such negative behaivors imposed on each other. Rather than realize that instead of fighting each other that together they could fight the system that has them all where they are, and band together to create a much stronger alliance that could and control the path of US politics, the main focus is placed on the conflict. Asian, Latino & Black votes are what could really bring 'change' to a country that struggles with racism, but until it is realized by the people within those races, the division will continue. Which is why I say 'ignorance' is what drives the division that seperates those groups. This is why you see younger and older, educated blacks, asians and latinos supporting Obama because 'education' has enabled them to realize the significance and importance of Obama's political race and eventual win as president. During the Civil Rights movement, it wasn't just about 'black' and Martin Luther King Jr., but it was also about 'brown' and Cesar Chavez. For centuries, 'Brown' folk were discriminated against just the same as 'black' folk and as a result have also fought for civil rights alongside 'black' activists. Education is the key to use when attempting to bring 'brown' and 'black' together. How much more can the two groups kick each other down on top of the kick down they have gotten from the system? It makes more sense to join forces and give the system and the racist status quo, a big kick right where it counts!

Comment: The "Latino vote" is just as important to Obama as the "Black vote" meaning pretty much that it's not. Obama has NOT ONCE in any of his hundreds of speeches, interviews and town meetings addressed any "black issues" or any "latino issues". Yes, it is a race situation. Proven in large black community population states such as Georgia and South Carolina that black voters are choosing Obama because he's "black" (or so they say) reinforces the Latino opposition to that. No, we (meaning "Latinos") are not in competition with blacks for jobs or social status. In the largely diverse community that I live in Illinois, the Mexicans live in low-income, developing areas but are paying rent and utilities and a good sizeable number of the black community lives under the city's housing authority, in other words, public housing or in layman's terms, the projects. The whole idea of "being taken care of" by the governement in Latino's eyes is slothful and unheard of. We (Latinos, or all the one's I know) are proud of what we have earned and how hard we worked to accomplish anything that we have. The idea of living under "welfare, public housing, public assistance, or food stamps" is just unthinkable and takes away our proud feeling of dignity and respectability.

There are also just as many African-American's or Blacks that rent and own their homes in New York State. Not all African - Amercan's want to be taken care of by the government. But, a black person in the USA today has a 10 fold advantage over a woman.
Although there are more women in the USA, women are "tolerated" more than credited for their roles in change. Women created more changes than any other group. Women created mindset in their children which allowed a softer touch on the planet, in the work place, in medicine and healthcare, in the economy, between the races and gender and more, BUT, are not credited for these changes.
The Press is coddling Sen. Obama through the primaries, for defeat by the Republicans. They have looked into his past, his scarce voting record, his accomplishments, his defeats, his affiliations, and his skeletons, BUT don???t report pro or con to the public, so the public can make an "informed decision". If the press was non-racial, Sen. Obama would face negative comments. But, that they are intolerant of women is very clear by the negative reporting against Sen. Hillary. There again-a woman is second choice to a man regardless of race. It???s fair to attack a woman, but not fair to attack a man who is black and Sen. Obama is quick to look for and point out racial undertones.
Finally, Sen. Obama cannot align two parties. Saying he can is saying he is willing to go conservative. He is an excellent speaker and pushes the right buttons, but can he get his agenda through congress? What specific changes are different from Sen. Clinton? Just being democrat will effect changes. I believe he will fail against the Republican Machinery. And Sen. Obama may never politically recover from the attacks to come in the General Elections. He cannot handle criticism.
Comment: The are more black hispanics than african americans so someone should really put context to this discussion. Slavery started in the latin areas of the Americas and 90% of the slave trade went there. Race is a deep issue also in latin areas although people try to deny it. For example the Cubans in Florida are more white looking (although many would also be black using the one drop rule of the US) but in Cuba as long as you look white you are considered white and received the benefits of such. One of the reasons for the revolution in Cuba was a racial one as class in Latin America is also quite often tied to race.

Here in Oakland, it is very strange to see Mexicans at the bus stop, on the way to some low paying job, while unskilled blacks, who are that way by choice these days, seem to be milling about, with their pants slung low and gold teeth in their mouth. How do they eat? Why do their clothes look reasonably new and not shabby? Yes, this creates resentment.

Comment: Nope, I'm talking about people who demanded $30 per hour, yet were unwilling to perform "demeaning" work like hauling flood-ruined items from destroyed structures. Unwilling to put on protective suits and scrape mold and mildew from walls, or crawl into A/C ducts to do the same thing. Unwilling to show up for work every day. Yet hispanics, illegal and legal, were willing to do all that for $15 per hour. I have photos of my sister-in-law in that protective suit and in that A/C duct. So, the hispanics got hired for job after job, and made and saved a lot of money. Which they spent in our economy, in businesses that employ American citizens. And the blacks, instead of competing, were complaining, picketing, spitting on, and threatening the hispanics. Or sitting on their couches. Oh, and paying taxes? She had to use her sister's Social Security Number to get hired, a requirement of the US-owned contractor that employed about a dozen American citizens as supervisors, accountants, etc. So, my sister-in-law had to pay taxes, including Social Security, for benefits that she will never draw and servces she cannot use, all for a company that benefited American citizens. So she is contributing, which is more than you can say for those fine protestors of New Orleans who, while legal, do not contribute but instead only drain our economy by freeloading.
The same thing happened in my city. A huge complex of derelict old buildings had been vacant for 10 years until an out-of-state investor offered a plan to invest $375 million dollars to create an entertainment, residential, and office park. Hundreds of jobs would have been created both for the construction and the ongoing operation of the businesses. Yet the project fell apart because the black city council members all voted against it. They said their constituents all demanded "living wages" of at least $25 per hour for all jobs in that complex, which they were entitled to because the complex was on the edge of a predominently black neighborhood. The cinema was the first to pull out of the project; who can afford to run a movie theater when the kid who makes popcorn or tears ticket stubs has to earn $25 per hour? The whole project was canceled just a few weeks later. No jobs for any blacks there now, just like in New Orleans. They decided to move the complex to a part of the state where race was not an issue, and a teenager is happy to earn $7 or $8 per hour for an after school or weekend job.
Repeat that same victimization story all over the country, every week. The blacks are their own worst enemies.

Comment: The Latinos that helped with the Katrina relief efforts didn't get the work because the black citizens of Louisiana were dismissed. They got the work because the black citizens refused to work unless they were paid exhorbitant wages. If they were hired for jobs it was only once, because the Latinos had a better work ethic. It wasn't just pay; it was the quality and quantity of work. I know this because my wife (who is a legal immigrant) has a relative (illegal) that worked on Katrina reconstruction for a year. She banked a lot of cash because of her willingness to work hard, show up on time, and her discipline. That had nothing to do with her legal status, and everything to do with her approach to life and work. Could that be the real reason for tensions between blacks and latinos?

Most black people who are from the lower wards of New Orleans could not help because they we waiting for the relief don't twist it tell the whole truth. Alot of them were waiting to be rescued. People saw the images all over the news many of us experienced that tragedy first hand. And other thing all black people do not want to be paid outrages amounts of money to work. That is only people who are into making fast money mostly younger people. They don't understand the value of hard earned money from a days work.
