you sound racist against your own race by your comment.

    Rodriguez,
You are beyond pathetic. As a Latina woman who is voting for Obama your racism and your warped logic as to why you couldn't "trust" a black man to lead is laughable. Your grammar is atrocious and your writing style...well, I've seen better in my third grade class. Try taking some classes at your local community college perhaps that would help; though a lobotomy might be a better option quicker action.
Sadly, there are Hispanics whose feelings of superiority of ???black people??? are so deeply ingrained that they themselves don???t even realize it. It has a lot to do with the Spanish caste system that was set in place some 500 years ago. It???s surprising that it still exists and definitely so among the uneducated lower class. As so succinctly written by those of which I speak. Frankly, I???m finished with them.
Please do not think we are all like this. My educated friends and myself are so far from this viewpoint.

latinos are just envious of how far blacks have come so of course they wouldnt vote for a black president. they forget that if it wasnt for blacks and the civil rights movements the freedom and privileges they have wouldn't exist. that goes for all other minorities who look down upon us. but we were the ones who fought to get to where america is now. Everyone else sat on their asses. And Latinos are still sitting. Just accepting it.

Tootas, be advised......if there is one thing forsure I'm not envious of; it is the Blacks.
Any way you slice it, I do not, cannot envy Blacks.

I'm Hispanic. I was born in Colorado. I will not vote for a black person to be commander and chief of America's armed forces. Why? I don't trust the Blacks whose history is constant compaining, marching, boycotting, rioting, whining, (After Michael Richards apologized, Sinbad loudly and arrogantly said.."It's not enough!" when Mel Gibson apologized, it wasn't enough. Nothing pleases the Blacks except to be coddled and apologized to constantly. They're overly sensitive, demand to be heard before anyone.
One can't have an opinion or likes or dislikes, no preferences or they will accuse one of racism. It is so wearisome to hear them brag how great they are, how proud they are to be black, yet on television they are there trying to look white, act white, talk white. Can't they see how hypocritical they are? I've tried talking to them, but found they are rude, loud, demanding and frankly I'm tired of it.
They are nothing like Latinos. I know some claim to be Latino, but if they knew history they would find out that if you're black you are from Africa, not Spain, Israel or Portugal.
I won't vote for Obama because why should I trust a black man to lead the US? The black history is filled with hatred for the whites because of the way whites treated them, this includes the Spaniards who also enslaved them,
so how could I trust a man to lead a country that enslaved his race? I would think the bad feelings are still
there and there could no love or loyalty to a nation that literally hated his people.

Many pundits and much of the press claimed that the Latino vote would be "decisive". This perspective has proven to be overblown as the Latino vote appears to have fallen into near-irrelevance. Apparently, demographics don't necessarily translate into votes.

this is for Tootas...how can u say that latinos are envious of the black community ? Thats why some latino's dislike blacks...because they think we latinos or other races owe them for what happened to them in the past but this is the future we had no control over what happened. And latinos are not lazy if it wasnt for us some roads or houses would not be fixed..Latinos get steryotyped to much and get just as much racism as a black person . I believe blacks and browns dont get along because we are too much alike. And again if we just sit on our "asses" like you said why are blacks complaining that we take their jobs and if we are not that imporant why does Obama need the Latino vote so bad?

I think the circumstance is just as the article states. The clash between black and brown has to do with the factors that were indicated in the article in relation to competition and the poverty that exists in the neighborhoods that they share. Ignorance toward what the actual ramifications are of black vs. brown or brown vs. black is what makes that collision even greater. Living in a such negative environments accetuates negative behaivor and since it is either black or brown residing as neighbors in such environments, they are those who are victims of such negative behaivors imposed on each other. Rather than realize that instead of fighting each other that together they could fight the system that has them all where they are, and band together to create a much stronger alliance that could and control the path of US politics, the main focus is placed on the conflict. Asian, Latino & Black votes are what could really bring 'change' to a country that struggles with racism, but until it is realized by the people within those races, the division will continue. Which is why I say 'ignorance' is what drives the division that seperates those groups. This is why you see younger and older, educated blacks, asians and latinos supporting Obama because 'education' has enabled them to realize the significance and importance of Obama's political race and eventual win as president. During the Civil Rights movement, it wasn't just about 'black' and Martin Luther King Jr., but it was also about 'brown' and Cesar Chavez. For centuries, 'Brown' folk were discriminated against just the same as 'black' folk and as a result have also fought for civil rights alongside 'black' activists. Education is the key to use when attempting to bring 'brown' and 'black' together. How much more can the two groups kick each other down on top of the kick down they have gotten from the system? It makes more sense to join forces and give the system and the racist status quo, a big kick right where it counts!

I'm a black Haitian but I would never vote for a black president because the " white man" make decide for the black man to follow. It like that in Haiti the " white man" make the decision for the black man to follow. I don't mind follow a white leader as long as he as mercy for Haiti.

Quetzxal, plenty of Hispanics here have clearly stated that they are voting for Clinton for several reasons. What are you talking about?
The topic is called The Black-Brown divide...we are talking about why there is a divide?

Maybe some of those African American voted for the White candidate because of what was stated in the campaign...just like the Latino`s here are voting for Clinton!

Stop stroking your ego thinking that were trying to get your vote, this is about the divide.

I guess you see it as race revenge?lol

I can say the same thing. Do you think a black has never run for Mayor or Governor and didn`t win? Where was the Latino vote when they lost? see my point? For the record, Obama isn`t just African, He`s 50% White, but I guess you see him only as a black man needing the Latino vote?

Why is it that all the pundits refer to the lack of support from Latinos for African-American candidate, yet there is no reference of the reverse? Do we remember LA and the African-American community voting for a white candidate and not a Latino?
Now we will here from the African Americans that we need to unite and set aside our differences, let the past be the past. Clinton, Obama and the Democratic Party need the Latinos, how the world turns.

It is mindbogglilng to me, why this divide exists. Latinos need to realize that they will always get a free ride in, on the demands made by blacks on the front lines. This country will always look down on latinos. America hates blacks but they hate "foreigners" more! Trust me, that's exactly how they look at anyone who doesn't speak english, or speak english as a first language. You are good to do the landscaping, cook in restaurants, clean their houses and show them every now and then how hot blooded, you really are!! So vote for Hillary, if you are legal, and remember your role, as in Jeb Bush' house! I live in New Jersey, the whites think latinos are ruining the country, and hate Mexicans more than Mexicans hate blacks!!! Is that possible.you

Iwould love to have a black man in the white house but i do think that if he go's to the white house that they would J.F.K HIM IF YOU GET MY DRIF. As long as we as people stay divided the white people no disrespect will live on to think that they are better than black's and latino's they want us to fight even more than now with the up and coming election

  • Posted By: arcataberry @ 02/11/2008 1:43:51 PM

I lived in L.A. for 30 years and my direct observations have led me to conclude that latinos, Mexicans, in particular, are racist by any definition. Not only are they engaged in a race for Top Victim but in an unrelenting competition for social services, subsidized housing, jobs and resources. Blacks are in their way. They try to coopt the Freedom Train and the civil rights movement to justify what is an imperialistic attitude in the u.s.

  • Posted By: arcataberry @ 02/11/2008 1:40:46 PM

The latino prejudice against blacks is pervasive, and cultural. Latinos bring heavy racist bagagge with them when they come to the U.S. Witness the treatment of Indians in Chiapas, the fact that Mexico has been ruled by the light skinned for generations, that Brazil had its first black t.v. news reporter EVER only last year. Mexicans, esp., are vying for the Top Victim position in the U.S. and attendant benefits.

I agree that race play's a big part in the election but race seem to be a problem every in the world right now like it's the new thing to be racist and say racist things. I work for a all white members club i have been working here for a year and up until 2 days ago i was able to use the bathroom any where i wanted but now they tell me that i can not use yhe bathroom on the first floor it's for members only is that not considered racism . True i think we are ready for a African American or a Women to go to the white house , But what about the people that still live in slavery days that think that we are not the same. If you ask me they would bring back slavery if they could and have all African American and Latino's on one plantion together because to them we all on walfare and have to many baby's

  • Posted By: Peace2you @ 02/11/2008 11:51:17 AM

This is exactly what I mean! I knew you were white the minute you totally ignored Remosses 20 post to mention Peace2you and Raven!! All I was doing was showing him that the people he kept trying to convince us that he was so close with had major flaws also. If you took time to read any of this guys post, you would have realized he kept stating we Latino's and White`s???..but at the same time kept using derogatory remarks about black people??? which clearly makes you hypocritical in your statement!

Claiming that blacks are lazy and on welfare in order to justify your a decision on why you are going to vote for Hillary and Not Obama is racism???Period!! You totally ignored this persons comments and made a hypocrite of yourself in the process.

Let`s talk welfare, Blacks, whites and Hispanics are on it. The mindset is: ???I hate that my taxes have to go to black people living on welfare, when I`m out here busting my behind, they should do the same.??? I have heard this type of comment for years from various other cultures and mostly white people.

Now, the facts about the blind: Being on welfare requires the governments assistance correct?

The blind truth: White people file Bankruptcy in the amounts of over a Billion Dollars per year???..and who do they file these Chapter 7 and 13 `s with? The Government for assistance!! White people use the government for assistance for far more money than Black people ever have!!! The blind hypocrites don`t see this because they see a white family doing well, but no one tells you about the BK filed this year because lost your job and was living like the Jone`s.

Abortion is a process of killing your kid to better your own future and this process has been abused by white people for decades to the point that even white people themselves not boycott abortion clinics!!! Yes you know a few people who have kept their children, but the truth is too many have not. Also many who keep their kids now, don`t mean that they didn`t use the clinic while in college!!

This is just the truth, it`s not anything against white people???it`s just the cold hard truth!!
This can sometimes be hard to swallow and when you hear it, it can trigger denial, but you know it`s true, and now you can see how the bias media and racist people have stereotyped black people by promoting their flaws while keeping there`s hiding, which has shaped the form of the Whole World`s mindset about African Americans.

I like and have loved white people, I just don`t worship man because all fall short of the Glory of God no matter how many believe they don`t???.all you have to do is open your eyes and see they truth!!!

To Raven... good point, but why stop at Darfur; there's Rwanda, Congo, Liberia, Haiti, just to name a "few " others in 30 seconds; Wonder what other countries are also currently competing for this disgrace?

  • Posted By: Peace2you @ 02/08/2008 2:53:02 PM

cherold, racism ? LOL It`s call reality!!! I don`t even know if I will vote for Obama and I`m African American! The reason is because he is Musilum and I know only one thing about them seen on a video called Radical Islam, made by by the people in that country trying to warn us about the mindset of the radicals. Their plan is to take over America!! Not only that but they want to kill off every other people of everyother religion and allow terrorist to run wild!

That plus I had a Muslim friend from the east tell me about 10 years ago that they were going to take over America...and I laughed and he smiled and said I`m serious and I was like OK.

Now I hear about Obama no being Patriotic and this video becomes clear in my mind.

Telling the truth about people doesn`t make you a rascist. It means you are honest. Eveyone knows that people worship idols who present themselves as being good while hidding their faults, yet promoting another cultures faults as being the worst kind of people to be associated with.

Showing another cultures faults are not being racists at all, it`s bringing light to the cunning and bias mindset that has Asian, Hispanic and white people sounding like a broken record everytime they mention black people.

Those that have your mentality seem to forget that we are part of ONE RACE, the HUMAN RACE, and color does not label a person, their ACTIONS and WORDS do.

My mentality? lol Appearently you overlooked Remosses 100 rascist post two call me 2 or 3 post rascism?lol You want me to think of you as a person of equality?lol Your type are part of the problem.

You see we can sign "We are the World" but when I go home I have to deal with people like you who over look people like Remosses as not being rascist..he only mentioned we Latinos and Whites and not you Blacks..like a 10 times....yet you call me racist?lol

You need to read the part of my post about white people being blind and you will see what I mean as to how you fit snuggly into the catagory of the blind and bias.

    • Posted By: cherold @ 02/09/2008 6:18:50 PM

Guess what, I'm not black, I'm white. What was your point again?
And what exactly is "my type"? I know that whites and blacks and latinos and asians all have problems and struggles they have to deal with. The reason I felt your comments were racist and/or prejudiced were the way in which they were presented. The same thing goes for Raven. A person can make a point with out demoralizing individuals and pointing fingers and placing blame.

I don't know if your scenario you presented was something you experienced personally, but most of my white girl friends I grew up with have had more than 1 child, and they are in their late teens/early twenties. They chose to suspend college to care for their children. So posing the fact that white women get abortions over raising kids is inaccurate.

Raven: "White people are the most pathetic race on this earth...They have--and continue to--commit the most horrid crimes against God and humanity..." Hmm, sounds racist to me. What about the genocide that is taking place in Darfur? Or the Holocaust (everyone knows about that one). People of ALL , let me repeat that...ALL...races are capable of evil.

  • Posted By: jhindrew @ 01/26/2008 4:06:55 PM

Hmm....interesting article...as a black male I never knew that there were open hostilities between African Americans and Latinos. I know that Latinos are made up of very different groups, from different countries, with different skin tones. My question to the Latinos who have posted is what exactly is there grievance with the African American community? Living in the Deep South I can tell you when it comes to someone who is racist against minorities...they will not be seen as white, even if their skin color isn't brown. It has been a common policy of those of higher economic status to promote the ethnic differences of those beneath them. This divide a conquer keeps change from happening to the detriment of those who have been hurt by the policies that keep the rich, richer and the poor, poorer.

    • Posted By: THE RAVEN @ 02/09/2008 2:18:11 PM

I agree, jhindrew. I was not aware of these so-called hostilities, either. If the Latino community falls for this crap--I feel sorry for their future in this country.
