The problem is that Obama does not have much to offer to the minority people. Obama even refused to implement the laws already in the books for equal opportunity for Asian Americans. Now 80-20 committee, a nonpartisan political organization for Asians are buying ad in California to defeat Obama. So why minority should support Obama. I even think the Afican Americans should switch to Hillary. Obama is only offering a empty check for "Change".

The labels "hispanic" and "latino" were not requested by the very people who are identified by their use. These terms came into being as an attempt to lump a group of diverse and culturally different people under one generic umbrella. My ancestors are from Mexico. I don't have anything in common with Cubans, Puerto Ricans, Dominicans, etc. The spanish language may be the dominant language, but from a political standpoint we have different agendas, wants and needs. Lumping us all together is an attempt to simplify our issues and impact on the country, similiar to labeling all white people as "Caucasian."
The race issue will always be woven deep into the fabric of this country. Capitalism depends on it. It is what keeps us stuck in the muck economic and political inequality. it's used to conquer and divide. Let's face it, if we all woke up tomorrow and racism was gone, what would happen next? How long before we realized the real division in this country is the unbalanced distribution of wealth, the polarization of the "haves" and the "have nots?" The "haves" need racism to maintain the status quo. Once the rest of us realize that, then you'll have your next revolution.
So you can put whoever you want in the White House. It's all about maintaining the status quo. Corporate America bought D.C. a long time ago. Wake up.

Stop being sheep people. Hillary Clinton wants you talking about ANYTHING besides her actual record. Bring it down to petty ethical questions (which all politicians have - yes Obama has them, too). HEAR ME: I WILL NOT VOTE FOR HILLARY CLINTON. She destroyed any chance of Health Care for 16 years. She voted FOR IRAQ. She voted FOR KYLE-LIEBERMAN. Keep squabbling about BS and you are going to get what you deserve: a dishonest, power-hungry, ineffective leader. I can't believe I'm saying this but I've been looking at McCain - he's pro-environment, i hate his position on Iraq - but at least he took a stand and he's more honest than the Clinton snakes.

Hill's continued claim that she is a workhorse instead of a showhorse is actually the reverse. That's how the Clintons are used to twisting the words like how Bill asked what's the meaning of is, is. When will they stop pulling our legs ? She will someday be confronted with her own records in the Senate that shows insignificant output and quality of work. She actually appears to work hard only when there is camera present but has nothing much to show except Tammany Hall patronage politics that she bragged about. That is the kind of experience she touts to the whole world as if that is the most important thing to the country. Let us put the legislative records of Barack and Hill in side by side comparison and she will be surely flushed away by a landslide.

I believe the whole media should be made to attend an ethics class because it seems they all attended a drama school. They blow everyword candidates say completely out of proportion.

B clinton and h Cling is doing bangladeshi politics here. which is dirty and mean. I cannot believe some Americans are supporting it. Edward is much better option.

Unless they appear to be mostly of African heritage, there is no one that the Hispanics like any less than they do Black people. Non-African heritage Hispanics are absolutely foully prejudiced against Blacks, including Black Hispanics. The word that Mexicans use for Blacks is, if anything, nore foul than the English "N" word. Obama should not expect much from them. It has occasionally been, unfortunately, necessary to totally rip into someone that I know to have come here illegally, when they express these attitudes toward American citizens. I don't mince words. I always have to laugh at one female of my acquaintance, much fairer of complexion than my very pale skin, whose answer to everything, when she isn't accommodated to, is that everyone is racist. I laugh at her and tell her in my second language that all her problems are because she is either too lazy or too stupid to learn English. And I am unequivocally and unashamedly all about citizens first! No matter their color or race.

And Hispanic and/or Latinos are language groups, not "races."

  • Posted By: digitallyinclined @ 01/26/2008 5:11:56 PM

Hispanics/Latinos is not a race, why do people keep classifying it as one. Hispanics can be White, Black, Indian, or Mixed.

  • Posted By: digitallyinclined @ 01/26/2008 5:08:42 PM

I'm tired of hearing the term Latino being singled out as a race when it fact Latinos can be either White, Black, Indian, or mixed.
The same applies to the term Hispanic.

The Clintons have dooped the establishment of the Democratic Party. Barack Obama can lead this country up and out the mess that's dirty politics. And the media better wise up and do their job. Stop being like this current government who has sold us out. WE, the PEOPLE need to move forward. Too many American citizens have been lazy, dumb, and fickled--showing no guts or convictions. This retired Colorado teacher is a proud Obama supporter, and NO ONE will budge me on this. And those political analysts???on MSNBC
and CNN anyway--who keep saying Bill Clinton is credible???or popular--are full of it! I'm so glad we're about to get rid of one liar currently in the White House. I don't intend on replacing George Bush with two liars--Bill and Hillary Clinton.

YOU HAVE STATED IT CORRECTLY. THE NEWS MEDIA IN THIS DOES NOT KNOW THE TRUTH IF IT BITES THEM IN THE .... I DO AGREE THAT WE DO NOT NEED MORE LIES AND POINTING FINGER AT THE AMERICAN PEOPLE LIKE THE LAST ONE WE ENDURED WITH THE CLINTONS "I DID NOT HAVE SEXUAL RELATIONS WITH THAT WOMAN., AND CLINTON NEWS NETWORK (CNN) THAT ARE CONSTANTLY SPINNING AND SHOWING REPETITIOUSLY THE SAME THING WITH THE CLINTONS AS THOUGH TO CONDITION PEOPLE'S MIND. THE CLINTONS NEED TO GO BYE BYE!!

We have to be honest with each other here. How many of you commenting actually live in an African-American/Latino community? I do, I live in South Los Angeles, where 15 years ago, my high school was 96% African American and now is 55 to 60% Latino. This community has seen a lot of folks competing for jobs and housing. There are a lot more Latinos now and the friction between the two communities is evident. Unfortunately, it is true what Earl says about competition...for jobs, housing, health care, etc.

Someoone noted that Obama's eloquence, intelligence and oratory skills appeal to the educated elilte, who appreicate these traits. These voters are willing to overlook the racial makeup of the candidate if he shows superior attributes. Many such voters are whilte, middle and upper class, high-earners. Yet, we are constantly reminded that the Latinos seem to appreciate less such attributes. Thus they will favor those whose skin color appeals to them: i.e. whites. One would argue then that for the most part, Latinos are working class, undereducated group with little earning potential. They are on the line scrimage fighting for jobs against African Americans, whom they find competitors. They seldom compete against middle and upper class whites for high skill jobs. So, it appears paramountly importrant candidate attributes such as competence, leadership skills, ideas, etc of less significance to Latinos as is the race of the person. Welcome to Jim Crowe America.

I would like the democratic Party to know WE WILL NOT VOTE FOR HILLARY IF SHE IS THE NOMINEE. BELIEVE IT. TELL THE TRUTH AND KEEP THE MESSAGE ON TARGET LIKE THE FRAUDULENT BEHAVIOUR TOWARDS PETER PAUL AND STAN LEE. THEY HAVE NO REAL ETHICS JUST WANT POWER. WHO WANT TO REMEMBER THE SEXUAL BEHAVIOURS OF BILL AND THE MONICAS. THE BLUE DRESS WITH THE STAIN AND THE CIGAR. NO GOOD REPRESENTATION FOR AMERICA. NO! NO! NO! I AM A CITIZEN NOW AND I WILL VOTE FOR THE PERSON WHO COULD UNITE THE RACES IN THIS COUNTRY. MR. OBAMA WILL INTERVIEW HIS CABINET TO PUT THOSE WITH SPECIFIC EXPERIENCES TO DO THE DIFFERENT PROJECTS THAT MUST BE COMPLETED. i AM SICK OF THE CLINTONE WHO SPENT THEIR TIME IN THE WHITE HOUSE AND BECAUSE OF GREED AND POWER THEY THINK THAT THEY HAVE THE RIGHT TO RETURN. tHE IT IS GOING TO BE JEBB BUSH AND THEN CHELSEA CLINTON? GIVE ME A BREAK THIS IS NOT LONDON. IT IS TIME FOR NEW INNOVATIVE AND FRESH IDEAS TO TAKE THIS COUNTRY FORWARD. WE ARE FIRED UP, LET'S GO OBAMA!!!!!!

People please. It's just sad that we are a nation where race division biases appear to be a factor when electing our leaders. I will give my vote to the candidate who in my opinion has the least special interests financing his/her campaign. All of us need to understand that it's not going to be the woman or the white or the black or the brown (sorry Lili) or the yellow president the one who will implement the changes that we need in the nation for the benefit of everybody; instead, the whatever color or race president that does no answer to any special interests will be the only one who will be able to deliver in that promised change. Let's focus on that and leave all this rubbish about Latinos not liking African-Americans and other race biases out of the elections once and for all. If we are not racially or gender united as a nation, then we are doomed to commit the same electoral mistakes of the past years that have only brought both the presidency and the congress to shame, and has made our country the most hated one in the world.

LET THE CLINTONS EXPLAIN WHAT HAPPENED TO PETER PAUL AND STAN LEE'S MONEY. THEY ARE LIARS AND CONS. AMERICANS MUST PAY ATTENTION TO THE SPINNERS LIKE CNN (CLINTON NEWS NETWORK)

  • Posted By: newsweek1945 @ 01/26/2008 4:14:50 PM

By the way, America, there are NO RACE EXPERTS, no matter what their racial, ethnic, or cultural persuasions. Our social evolution is still a work in painstaking and arduous progress. Think, observe, and embrace your fellow man whether you love him or not.

I'm amazed that Latinos even enter the equation as a seperate voting block---the media has been instrumental in this kind of advocacy for a good 20 years....why don't we hear about the Irish, Greek, Italian, Spanish, Pakistani, Indian, Haitiain, Turkish, and so on and so forth vote. The Latinos are like any other immigrant group to come to this country......they come in variety of colors as do those who come here from India, Asia and Africa.

  • Posted By: newsweek1945 @ 01/26/2008 4:09:57 PM

People of color must unite, become monolithic, like the "Christian", bigoted, "family values" right, or they will surely "die"! They must realize that any real divide between them is a ploy by these same people who have mastered the concept of "divide and conquer", obfuscate and manipulate. The last two presidential "elections" should be proof enough! Don't let them whisper into your ear, "Those other people are your real enemies."

  • Posted By: macmoses69 @ 01/26/2008 3:51:39 PM

It's amazing how Latinos are appalled being referred to as "browns," Even many people considered "black" in the US will be considered "white" in other jurisdictions. Barack Obama, Collin powell, Beyonce, who are blacks because of the "one-drop rule" will be considered "whites" in a country like Brazil. Now, all mixed, mulatto kids who appear whiter than Latinos are blacks in the US but they have not complained being referred to as blacks. Since I been in this World, I not actually come across any human who is white as the color white. many people who are referred to as white are actually pink. So if whites are pink, what do you think Latinos are? Come again.
