I've got a rhyme for the hip-hop mayor/ We were laughing then but were I'm crying later/ Ms. Beatty was my chief of staff / In the bedroom I'm the chief and she was riding my staff/ It's a such a shame that it can to come to this/ We were having fun but but now we're in the abyss/ First I got in trouble for the Navigator/ Damn! I'm in the doghouse again/See you later!!

Christine Beatty, you lucky dog, you!!

Why make this an issue of racial ? This is NOT a racial issue...this is a SPIRITUAL issue. The Mayor was married with children, he took an oath to uphold the city of Detroit, which includes professional ethics and integrity. I personally don't think "Bling", "Da' white man" or the "Ghetto" should be points of interest as much as holding this man responsible for his actions. If what he is saying is correct, and there are "old" emails, then perhaps the people of Detroit will be a little forgiving, if his wife has forgiven him then perhaps they have worked past this issue, however, it does NOT change the fact that he lied under oath. this is going to interesting.

    • Posted By: Firevixen @ 01/28/2008 12:56:05 PM

      ...
Even IF the e-mails ARE old, the affair STOPPED A MURDER INVESTIGATION and got veteran police officers fired and cost the city MILLIONS!!! The family of Tamara Greene may be suing for $150 MILLION MORE! (See my article below)

How would you feel if it was YOUR DAUGHTER'S MURDER INVESTIGATION that was halted by these people?!?

As for his infidelity being over with...he was in a Hotel room with a woman named Carmen Slowski JUST LAST WEEKEND in North Carolina!!! Getting massages and champaign and strawberries on somebody elses dime!

(That is: Massages, NOT messages...as in: he and a woman who was NOT his wife were laying naked on tables (in January, 2008) and getting their bodies oiled down and tissues kneaded. Not exactly what the planners of the MLK celebration had invisioned when they invited him to speak. )

Kwame needs to resign and save us all some money. But he won't because he is guilty as sin and he needs the city to pay all his legal bills. Do not be surprised if he ends up in prison, but not just for perjury.

I am a french citizen from Paris, who loves Detroit. (I spent one year in highschool in Bloomfield hills 30 years ago). I visited Detroit in November 2007, and I was pleased to see that Detroit seemed to become a "normal" city again, where some people walk leisurely downtown. 30 years ago (Coleman Young was Mayor then) it seemed like only few survivors of an atomic bomb attack ventured to walked around. Detroit cannot afford to waste time and energy. Mayor Kilpatrick did a great job . A love affair is a private matter. And he did not steal money. He should be thanked and not bullied.

Thanks for the positive (non-racial) comments, maximparisian. As I finished reading this story, I new some white person (black, too) was going to make it a racial issue. You see, here in the U.S., unfortunately, in your country, too, race is an issue everytime a black face is shown in the news--for good or bad. What is also unfortunate is the racial problems Franch is having. If we acknowledge race, and respect others of different races, we probably wouldn't have the problems we have--on this planet.

    ............

.....Well, Christine Beatty (Chief of Staff) just RESIGNED, but the Mayor is still in hiding. It is Monday afternoon and we have not seen or heard from him since LAST Wednesday. Boy, THAT'S leadership!

  • Posted By: Valleylee @ 01/27/2008 4:56:16 PM

Leave the Mayor alone. Politicans been doing it thoughout the ages. If he's done right by his city, what differnce does his personal life have to do with anything. That's between him and his wife.

    • Posted By: lwyr2005 @ 01/28/2008 12:22:28 PM

I don't care if the Mayor cheated on his wife. People cheat. It isn't even kept quiet anymore. The fact is that he lied - under oath. As an attorney and a mayor he should know better. As an attorney, he should respect the oath taken in court. As the mayor, he should respect the law and realize that to get anything accomplished FOR the city, those outside of the city need to view him as credible. As someone with years of business experience, I don't do business with those that do not have credibility. Detroit has been nationally seen as a laughingstock and just when progress starts - young professionals start moving back to the city, companies are coming downtown - Kilpatrick loses his credibility through his own volition. So Valleylee, he hasn't "done right" (bad grammar by the way) by the city. He did not attend one of the most important mayoral conferences in DC because he was having a bad personal day. Instead, he went to his $400,000 vacation home. Must be nice to call off work because you screwed up your own personal life.

If a person is prepared to break the most sacred covenant of all, the covenant of marriage, then they can't be trusted with any leadership position IMO. Perhaps it's time we start "raising the bar" with respect to the ethical practices we expect to see from those who we choose to lead us.

Obviously, movedout and doctorjay want to turn this into a racial story as well. I was born in raised in Detroit, went to lawschool and still live in Detroit. I really don't care what color our mayor is as long as they are intelligent, motivated to help the city, and credible. Recent events show Kilpatrick is not credible. No matter what your color, perjury takes away your credibility. As an attorney, I think Kilpatrick should be disbarred for lying under oath. As a resident of Detroit, I think that he needs to step down or be recalled.

  • Posted By: movedout @ 01/28/2008 11:51:54 AM

I recently moved out of Michigan for more work but I am still watching. People act shocked that this sort of stuff keeps happening. Why? We knew what we were getting when he was elected the second time. These types of problems are just what you get when a mayor is elected based on Bling and street cret. Sad as it sounds, politics is a game and thats the election game in Detroit. The kind of suit you wear and your "swagger" are how you get elected in "The D". Nobody in the City cares because this is minor compared to what they see every day. By getto standards, this is hardly worth mentioning. People, why do you care about a city full of people that would rather shoot you and steal your shoes. Why do you care about a city that would rather put a Cadilac in the driveway instead of caring for their children?

How surprising to see another man of color guilty of yet another animalistic crime. That???s what this country gets for putting these baboons into positions they should not be in. These are positions that require brains and smarts. Put a colored guy in charge and they screw it up. Lets fight to keep them as laborers on construction sites

Let's see what the White man has contributed to society: slavery, biggotry, and racism. White men have been rapists, most serial killers, and committed atrocities against other civilizations since the beginning of time, including World Wars, Korean War, Vietnam and Iraq are the White man's legacy. You guys have been Nazi's (and still are as Skinheads), KKK and were the reason people needed the Civil Rights Movement. Despite contributions from scientists like Charles Drew, scholars like W.E. B. DuBois and others, still uneducated Racists such as yourself believe Blacks are inferior intellectually. WE did'nt head up Enron, start Columbine and become elected President b/c of OUR last names! Get a life David Duke!

Kilpatrick needs to resign now. Mayor Kilpatrick cannot and should not be allowed to think that the law doesn't apply to him. I am a proud Detroiter and what makes me proud is the city which I live in not the person who represents the city. The city of Detroit has gotten through much worst as a city and this is just another part of our city's history. Detroit needs strong leadership. And the leadership MUST have INTERGRITY. Mayor Kilpatrick have totally taken the citizens love, trust, and support for you for granted. He 's went as far as lying under oath, firing detroit police officers for doing their jobs, being linked to the murder of an exoctic dancer, and costing the citizens over 9 million dollars (at a time where the city/state is going through its own recession. I am a military vet who defends his country and only want great leadership within our own borders.

  • Posted By: m0t0wn @ 01/28/2008 9:57:14 AM

Kilpatrick must resign now. If not at least take a leave of absence until the investigation is concluded. This is not just about lyiing under oath. This is covering up an investigation by two police officers surrounding the Mayor's lavish and loose lifestyle which could have resulted in a exotic dancers murder. It was rumored that Ms. Kilpatrick did get into a physical altercation with the dancer know as "Strawberry". Then she strangely ended up murdered. Mayor Kilpatrick did lie under oath and some want us to think it was to hide an exteranl affair, but it may be more he's hiding. The Mayor could have settled this case prior to going to court for only 100,000 dollars, but his arrogance got the best of him. and it cost the city 9 million. Detroit citizens have slowing been moving out of the city because of the fear of safety (crime rate increase), children education (closed numerous schools), and many more ongoing problems.

.You just wait and see how big this story gets. It will be J.F.K./Marilyn Monroe, Jena 6, Marion Barry, Jerry Springer, Whitewater and Lewinsky-gate all rolled up together.

Before I end this, I MUST add that for anyone who has a recording of "The Reverend David Murray" of the Detroit School Board, PLEASE put it up on YOUTUBE. He is OBVIOUSLY either mentally unstable or on drugs. Yet, and here is how this ties in to Kwame, the Reverend added a "Reverend" to his name and got more votes last election than anyone else! The man is NOT right in the head! He makes Kwame look like Ronald Reagan. I have never undestood why the Balck voters of Detroit have the degree of animosity toward the white community as they do. It only hurts THEM in the long run. Yet, like a small child that keeps grabbing an open flame and getting burnt, they keep electing obvious crooks and incompetents and rallying behind them. For anyone who missed it, search for the video of Kwames's mommy (Carloyn Cheeks Kilpatrick) at his reelction rally. She does not even act like a human, yet she is a Congresswoman and Chairwoman of the Congressional Black Caucus . It would be the funniest thing I ever saw if it wasn't just so sad. I think I will be a Republican from now on.

Why run. Stick around and help the cause. That is what wrong with us today. We are tempted to take the easy way out. Why join something where they really dont want you. Wake up, and stay Dem.

I left Detroit over 47 years ago to join the Air Force and travel the world. Since then, I have retired, and now woking for the Federal Government, currently stationed in Korea. I cannot believe the mess that has involved or tarnish the reputation of our great city. We are caught in difficult situation. If Kilpatrick leaves, we loose all of the good things that he has done or is doing. If we let him stay, then we are condoning his actions. My recommendations is let him stay, slap him on his hands hard, and dont elect him again. I am sure that their are better qualified individuals to talk the helm of our great city. Good luck Detroit

DETROIT MAY PAY ANOTHER $150 MILLION DOLLARS!!

From the DETROIT NEWS Dec, 2007

According to the Local 4 News report, Tamara Green was reportedly working as a dancer at the rumored mansion party and allegedly got into an altercation with the mayor's wife.
Green was shot and killed during a drive-by shooting after the alleged party, and her family believes it was a deliberate attack to keep her from talking to officers who were investigating the rumored party.

The lawsuit, according to Local 4 News, is on behalf of Johnathan Bond, Green's 14-year-old son. The lawsuit alleges Kilpatrick and members of the city's police department tried to block the investigation.
"I"m the boy's daddy. Not one time did the Detroit Police Department call me and say, 'Hey what do you know about your son's mother's death,' " said Ernest Flagg, who is Bond's father. "He's asking a number of questions. He's asking specific questions, I don't have answers for."
Flagg said the lawsuit is a way to force the mayor and others involved to talk, under oath, about the case.
According to the court documents, investigators described Green's slaying as a "deliberate hit" and concluded the gun and bullets used in the shooting were the same type issued to Detroit police officers.
Court records also showed that one detective looking into the possibility that a police officer was involved in the killing had her computer files erased and her investigative notes stolen from a locked file.
"I'm not surprised the files were erased, stolen and other things done to short-stop her from the truth," said Flagg.
The city of Detroit has already paid out millions of dollars to two police officers who filed a whistle blowers lawsuit over the rumored party investigation. That case involved officers who claimed they were fired or reassigned for investigating the case.
The federal lawsuit filed on behalf of Green's son asked for $150 million, but Flagg insisted the case is not about money.
"He wants to know who killed his mother," explained Flagg. "Was his mother at this party? We love her but we can't bring her back. I tell my son that every other day."
Flagg said his son keeps press clippings, surfs the Internet and has heard the rumors at school about his mother's slaying and alleged cover-up.
"My son had a right to have his mother's death investigated," said Flagg.
A spokesperson for the mayor's office said the city could not comment on the lawsuit until it had a chance to review the case.
According to Flagg, there is a meeting scheduled for sometime in January with the city but that the family would not accept a settlement offer, if one is proposed.
Flagg said he and his son want to have those involved questioned in a court of law.

    How it all started:

Sept/ Oct 2002: ""Rumored"" Manoogian Party/Carlita Kilpatrick showed up and beat up Stripper/Tamara Greene:

    The FACTS:

Aril 30, 2003, Gary Brown issued memo about Tamara Grrene being at the Manoogian party and recieving a beating from the Mayo'rs wife and subsequently receiving medical treatment.

April 30, The VERY SAME NIGHT: Tamara Greene is Murdered (the bullets are the same calliber used in Detroit Police weapons).

(A possible second dancer who fled Detroit is tracked down in Atlanta and also killed)

6 days later...Gary Brown is fired.

    At trial:

"He was not fired," Kilpatrick testified. "My understanding is he could go back to lieutenant ... but I think Mr. Brown chose to retire."
The text messages, however, use "fire" to describe Brown's departure. On May 15, 2003, Beatty wrote to Kilpatrick: "I'm sorry that we are going through this mess because of a decision that we made to fire Gary Brown. I will make sure that the next decision is much more thought out. Not regretting what was done at all. But thinking about how we can do things smarter."
Kilpatrick replied: "It had to happen though. I'm all the way with that!"

(Personal comment: Remember how the police officers were testifying about being afraid that the Mayor would have them and their families murdered? Not such a crazy idea now, is it??)

To the (few) people saying that he is a good Mayor overall and that this sexual scandal shouldn't put a stop too the good he is doing, I say this: As long as women (of all colors) do not feel SAFE inside a city, they will not move back and bring their family and their MONEY with them to invest in a city they feel is unsafe and on shakey ground. Period. What do you think goes through a suburban lady's mind when she sees the leader of a major city all pimped-out and acting like an animal on tv? She KNOWS that much of the African American youth in that city wants to emulate him...if Kwame can get away with it, THEY can probably get away with it too. Murder, drug-dealing, stealing...it's all a big joke to them. They (the majority of the Det A.A. community...not ALL, but MOST...) KNEW what a liar Kwame was and still reelected him!! The arrogance of the Detroit African Community is something I have never experienced anywhere else in the country. What I find funny however is that they like to act so "big" and yet it seems as if they cannot form a thought or opinion of their own without input from their "Pastor." LOL!! Man, if you are black and want to make some money, go to Detroit and become a minister of some sort. You can sucker your own people out of everything and drive a new Benz too!

People will always want what they can't have. So just note the following if you are so inclined:

If you're a politico, you should chase it in your own dime. If you work in a call center, you should chase it in the appropriate AUX code. If you're a dentist, you should chase it after you finish the root canal... If you blog, you should chase it in a secure, encrypted environment.... and so on.

Lastly, I think we should reinterpret what it means to be vetted. Whom do we choose to lead us between a sexual deviant who brings jobs and housing to the area -- or a family man who is a fiscal ***-up? Personally, I would choose the former; but society will eventually, have to make this choice for them, selves.

    • Posted By: Dr. Richard Trickle @ 01/27/2008 10:41:53 PM

I can live with a sexual deviant, and a fiscal f(()*k up is not criminal. Committing perjury is criminal.
Whether everyone chooses to admit it or not, the major is a visable representative of the voting black populace (I don't think he made it into office on strictly a white vote). He needs to be held accountable, otherwise it reflects upon those who put him office.

It's easy to point fingers at those of a different nationality, race, or political party. The only problem with that is that you show your own lack of brains. Bad morals come in all races, and political parties. Maybe if some of you who wrote hateful comments baced on the obove would or could fairly pick up a paer and read it you would already know this.
