All of that said, this isn't about character assassination. It's simply outrageous how unbalanced the media coverage of this race has been, with MSNBC and CNN already coronating/lionizing Obama as the celebrity candidate who can provide the most sensational story fodder. I'm just trying to level the playing field a little bit.

Stop characterizing this race as a one-domensional GOOD VS EVIL; CHANGE VS STATUS QUO type of epic. Because its not. Obama and Clinton are both empty, centrist vessels. Grow up and look at their stances on the real issues. Don't forget, there's still a third candidate in this race. And unlike his competitors, he's the only one with any substance to his rhetoric.

    peace.

Finally an intelligent response. I was beginning to think I was the only one out there who thinks the same way you do. Also, I thought I might be able to go through one day without Newsweek once again going on raptuously about Obama. Get kicked around... I hope Hillary just kicks the "sh**" out of him.

Thank you! It is not just Newsweek and Alter,it is Msnbc and Chris Matthews etall I feel I live in Saudi Arabia watching a woman being administered 100 lashes in the public square, for daring to campaign for nomination

"You've been hoodwinked. You've been had. You've been took. You've been led astray, led amok. You???ve been bamboozled." - Malcolm X

"They're trying to bamboozle you. It's the same old okie-doke. Y'all know about okie doke, right? ??? They try to bamboozle you. Hoodwink ya. Try to hoodwink ya. Alright, I'm having too much fun here. ??? " - Barack Obama

Is this Obama NOT injecting race into the campaign since he said his lines during his victory speech in SC? Why isn't the media questioning this? If Hillary or Bill had said it you would be all over them.

When the media is so enamored of Obama, how can they question him honestly?Hillary can be abused and be ridiculed as Billary and accused of playing the race card and gender card,if she opens her mouth. It makes me sick to watch this mass hysteria over a goodlooking, articulate lawyer, who is too immature to know any better. But ofcourse he is savvy enough to seek old Ted Kennedy to 'mentor' him and got into his good books!

Owe stop it! African Americans joke out these words in the privacy of their homes. I for one never saw the movie and I am black. I do know the term because of word of mouth. I was joking with them as they joke with one another. No one takes this stuff serious in the African American community!

Barak Obama is so naive,it is not even funny.Republican party machine will chew him up and spit him out in no time! If he thinks it is like Chicago community organizing,he is in for a rude awakening. But what gives with all the media pundits and the Kennedys anointing him our next president. Can't be pure misogyny...can it?

Be aware that Obama is the only candidate that Pledged to fight to keep Net Neutrality!! (Probably the only one young enough to understand what it really means!)
As you know, the Internet has become the only TRUE source for Freedome of Expression and Thought!
By abolishing Net Neutrality, it becomes the first step in giving Big brother control over what we can access online, essentially reversing the Internet Revolution!!

Don't let them kill the only last truly free venue we have!! Barack is fighting to keep your voice heard!

Ted Kennedy endorses Obama today; John Kerry and Pat Leahy a week or two ago. Obama talks abotu change, ridging DC of the establishment, and that this is a race about the future not about the past. When will the media call him on his hypocricy?

That he got powerful endorsements from Senators known to champion civil rights issues??

Remerber when trains were the main source of travel across country? With trains they had a baggage handler who helped train passengers to load and unload thier baggage;; This will be both Bill Clinton and his second-in-command Hillary if they return to the White House via her election. The only difference will be the baggage they will be handeling will be full of favor's owed, past deals made and outright business as usual. As anyone could see by the Florida actions of Hillary in making a big deal of winning nothing what will she stop at if elected President, providing Bill is not there to do what he wants. As far as I am concerned neither Bill, not Hillard should be allowed to make any decisions as it relates the the United States. Besides Bill could not find another Monica because he would not be sitting at his desk??

O is right: HRC has ZERO cross-over appeal to the GOP, limited appeal to independents, and a large number of dems, appaled by the Clintons for bringing scorched-earth Rove/Atwater tactics into the party for purely personal gain will stay home. Also, on the "authenticity" front, McCain beats her hands down. The only party HRC can unite is the GOP, and her name on the ticket will be "fatal" (McCaskill) for the down-ticket, and hurting congressional elections in red-turning-purple states. DOn;t let the circus back in town - we deserve better!

Mrs. Leonard, we get it: you're an emphatic white Obama suporter. It pains me to tell you that the Obama political machine is just as currupt Sen. Clinton's. He engages in dirty tactics (In Iowa, he bussed tons of campaign suporters from his home state to vote in another state's caucus). He takes just as much money from the same people. In many areas, his policy is either completely ambiguous or more conservative than that of Clinton or Edwards. Your argument is based on caucus and primary voting numbers among registered democrats. That doesn't tell the whole story. With all due respect, get off the chat boards and look at their platforms, please.

Our grandparents lay claim and bragging rights to the American Revolution and the Civil Rights Movement, our parents claim Woodstock. Our generation is still yet to stake out our claim. Every once in a life time an opportunity makes itself available for us to make history, and as young people our time is now.

We need to stake our claim as the generation that change the trajectory of American politics. We need to ascertain this as our bragging rights to our children and grandchildren. Some of you may be thinking that this is about Obama, but truly this is bigger than the man himself and we can only hope that he will put together a cadre of leaders who will share our vision and aid us in executing this bloodless revolution. "Without vision a people perish"

Throughout history there has never being a bloodless revolution. This is our opportunity to move America back to the forefront of the line. Let the entire world see that we as a people are truly a pace and trend setter, accomplishing what no other nation has ever done before. Removing the power from the elite group and putting it back in the hands of "we the people" without spilling a single drop of blood.

If you want to make your exit from mother earth without making an impact then discard this message, however, if you choose to let your memories live on, then forward this to all the people in your circle, so that they too can become a member of the bloodless revolution and claim their legacy.

Bill and Hilliary don't seem to understand that Barack Obama represents the new generation in politics. Haven't we had enough of the old Clintons and Bushes? Do we want to go back and recreate the divisiveness of Bill's reign in the 1990's by putting Hilliary back in office. What will Bill do as the spouse of a president? I think that we've had enough. Now is, indeed, a time for change very similar to Kennedy's time.

I am the same age as Caroline Kennedy and I liked it when she mentioned today that it was her kids who first encouraged her to take a look at Barack Obama, because it has been the same story here with my kids. Obama represents a change that is particularly appealing to the younger generation, who like it or not, will someday be running this country and taking care of us old geezers! I don't think I can bear another 40 years of partisan bickering, and if Obama's ideas can persuade a new generation of American voters to take the reins, and set forth to running this country in a new way, more power to him. We are in such a deep hole right now in so many areas, my vote is for real change with Obama, and I am glad my children will be taking part in this historic journey.

I think if Obama gets elected, then we better move to Canada right away. He is not experienced enough to run this country. I am for Hillary, and I will vote for someone with experience. She has been in the White House before for eight years with Bill as President, but as everyone knows, the 1st ladies usually help to make the big decisions. I would rather have a candidate that can start running the country on day one, not deciding what they should be doing on day one!

I don't know that first ladies help their husband's make the tough decisions - as far as Hilary is concerned - if she has 35 years of experience - and is as influential as she claims - why is our country in the condition it is? And what has her experience done for me? I remember her standing behind Bush at the time the war was being declared - and her demeanor was smiling - not something an elected officials - whose job is to serve and protect - while the decision is being made to send our young men and women to war. Rezko got OBAMA a cheaper .price on his house WOW big deal. OBAMA did not collude with REZKO in order to get his house at a lower price. REZKO DID IT ON HIS OWN, That's how politcs works in this country. If you have money and influence you are going to use it. DID you notice who Clinton pardoned at the end of his presidency. Do you remember the CLinton's Arkansas land deal. Cheney does business with Halliburton a company that ripped off our troops in Iraq. We are talking about one hundred and thirty eight thousand dollars REZKO donated to OBAMA. OBAMA took the man's money and put it to good use. NOW if Barak was his business partner and actively involved in SLUM LORD BUSINESS then that is another story. The guy got his house at a cheaper price because of REZKO, it is not his fault that REZKO went out of his way to get OBAMA a cheaper price. OBAMA never told him to do that he did it on his own because he likes OBAMA. Federal prosecutors manipulate the justice system. What they do is offer immunity or some type of lesser sentence to the criminal. The criminal then has to abide by the prosecutors agenda. This is a big problem because the criminal has every incentive to lie in order to reduce his sentence. REZKO must be thinking how he can work out a deal with prosecutors. WHEN your freedom is on the line you will say and do anything. anything.

    • Posted By: BernieO @ 01/28/2008 5:08:36 PM

Do you think that that Obama did not notice that he got his house for $300,000 under the asking price while the Rezkos paid FULL PRICE for the lot next door? Senators are not supposed to get those kinds of favors - something Obama surely knew. Oh, and all this happened after there was a lot of publicity about Rezko being investigated for corruption.

Looks like Hillary's hands are pretty dirty from her good buddy Norman Hsu.
        August 29, 2007
WASHINGTON -- For the last 15 years, California authorities have been trying to figure out what happened to a businessman named Norman Hsu, who pleaded no contest to grand theft, agreed to serve up to three years in prison and then seemed to vanish.
"He is a fugitive," Ronald Smetana, who handled the case for the state attorney general, said in an interview. "Do you know where he is?"
Hsu, it seems, has been hiding in plain sight, at least for the last three years.
Since 2004, one Norman Hsu has been carving out a prominent place of honor among Democratic fundraisers. He has funneled hundreds of thousands of dollars in campaign contributions into party coffers, much of it earmarked for presidential hopeful Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton of New York.

If by "WHINE" you mean responds in a civil tone...then I agree with you 100%. Otherwise you might want to invest in a dictionary. How exactly has Obama been whining? What he has been doing is giving answers to her endless barrage of mud-slinging. Clinton is acting like a cornered rabid animal who knows nothing more than attack! attack! attack! Her antics are shameless and for that alone she doesn't deserve to be president like she thinks she does.

So you have a problem with a spouse coming to his wife's defense? Geez....

        • Posted By: sedonakaren @ 01/27/2008 4:57:09 PM

Let's be honest. Bill has not been defending Hillary. He's been attacking Senator Obama. Constantly and in a mean-spirited manner. He has misrepresented Obama's words over and over. Even many of HIllary's supporters agree on that. Important Democratic leaders in Congress and elsewhere have cautioned the ex-President to "cool it," so as not to split the party. But he goes glibly on, doing his own thing. The person to whom I was responding was complaining that now Barack is sometimes using surrogates to defend himself. Be fair. This contest has been two-against-one for a long time now. He's never complained. He's only defended himself. When he lets the Clinton machine beat on him, he's perceived as "not tough enough." He's tough enough. He just meters out the exact amount of strength he needs at the time. Who was it who said it takes a great deal of courage to be angry at the right person in the right way, at the right time," or something like that? I think he's showing a great deal of strength and courage in the way he behaves, and I will be proud to call him my president.

About his being able to get Republican votes in the general election, not so, if you listen to, read the right wing they want him in the general, there out there voting now because they can beat him, and they are slowly in quite working on their ammunition. As far as him accomplishing things in office. Until Hillary announced that she was running for the presidency, the republicans said she was one who worked hard to get things done in the background not looking for the glory, and that had surprised them. Go back and look at the press at that time. Then look at Obama's record, he was always wanting to be the show, not the worker. As far as who was responsible for the race turning dirty, follow the trail and you will find that the comments of Barracks supporters really are the ones that got this going. Look at legislation in the Illinois senate and see if Obama was a behind the scenes worker or a showboat? Go back and look at the dirty politics that got him from the Illinois state house to the U.S. Senate, it was not a pretty sight and yet he managed not to get with any of the dirt being thrown around. All the press are talking about a picture of Bill and Hillary with Rezco, no one is telling where it actually came from. Isn't it amazing that the fact that Obama purchases a house for less than what they sell for there, then Rezko's wife pays more for the lot next to that house for more than it was worth and yet sells a portion to Obama for less than what it should have been worth. Besides that, to seperate land from one property to connect it to the one next to it usually takes a lot more time than this sell took. Remember that Fitzgerald ( now investigating Chicago Politics) was the investigator who couldn't manage to get the evidence in the CIA agents outing by the White house. Would it really surprise anyone if evidence starts leaking out after Obama wins the primary and the general election begins?

  • Posted By: 1goldengirl @ 01/29/2008 3:30:56 AM

By seeking and getting the endorsements of establishment liberals, like Ted Kennedy, leahy, John Kerry, etc. is not Obama shooting himself in the foot concerning his stated strategy for winning in the general election -- namely that he can attract Independents and Republicans? I wonder . . .? How smart is it to court the most liberal end of the Democratic party if your ultimate aim is to be able to attract Independents and Republican votes? There is something not right with this picture!

    • Posted By: gabesmall @ 01/29/2008 12:50:48 PM

He wouldn't be much of a bridge-builder if he burnt liberal bridges behind him in his effort to reach out to independents and Republicans. You're still stuck in the old worn-out zero-sum mindset.

There are only two problems with Hillary Clinton: First, she's married to Bill Clinton, who will end up being co-president just as she did when he was in office, and second, she's dishonest and has no credibility - she's been "outed" so many times doing illegal or unethical things, and as will Bill, she seems to have a teflon coating that keeps her from being too heavily criticized for her behavior. Bill may be a womanizer, but Hillary's a liar and a thief.
