Obama the next great hope? More like the next great big dope. I will admit the man can give a good speech but when it comes to the debates he stinks and he will not give a direct answer to an issue question. Read the link in the Chicago Tribune about "Mr. Wonderful"

Barack Hussein Obama, Jr. is the junior United States Senator from Illinois and a leading candidate for the Democratic nomination in the 2008 presidential election.[2][3] He is the fifth African American Senator in U.S. history, the third to have been popularly elected, and the only African American currently serving in the U.S. Senate.[4]
Obama was born in Honolulu to a Kenyan father and an American mother. He lived most of his early life in the Pacific island U.S. state of Hawaii. From ages six to ten, he lived in Jakarta, Indonesia. A graduate of Columbia University and Harvard Law School, Obama worked as a community organizer, university lecturer, and civil rights lawyer before running for public office. He served in the Illinois Senate from 1997 to 2004. Following an unsuccessful bid for a seat in the U.S. House of Representatives in 2000, he launched his campaign for U.S. Senate in 2003.
Obama delivered the keynote address at the 2004 Democratic National Convention while still an Illinois state legislator.[5] He was elected to the U.S. Senate in November 2004 with a landslide 70% of the vote in an election year marked by Republican gains.[6] As a member of the Democratic minority in the 109th Congress, Obama co-sponsored the enactment of conventional weapons control and transparency legislation, and made official trips to Eastern Europe, the Middle East, and Africa. In the 110th Congress, he has sponsored legislation on lobbying and electoral fraud, climate change, nuclear terrorism, and care for returned U.S. military personnel.
Since announcing his presidential campaign in February 2007, Obama has emphasized ending the Iraq War, increasing energy independence, and providing universal health care as major priorities.[7] He married in 1992 and has two daughters. He has written two bestselling books: a memoir of his youth titled Dreams from My Father, and The Audacity of Hope, a personal commentary on U.S. politics.[

This is why this country needs CHANGE.. Our citizens need to shake their heads... this is 2008 and they still carry hatred and are afraid of what they don't know..

Barack won in Greenville County whose population 79% white . So much for the ridiculous assumption that he only won because more African-Americans voted for him. He stomped Hilary and received more votes by himself that the total votes received in the last SC democratic primary . He is supported by women and men of all races, education levels and incomes. Did you see the diversity in the room when he made his speec last night? I was born and lived most of my life in SC until I was an adult so I know about the south. I was in awe last night and I am pleased. No matter who ends up winning history has been made.

We are continually tempted to, and occasionally we think we have surrendered to, switching our support from Hillary to Obama. He is deeply moving and he could be the person that changes our country for the better. We feel a powerful emotional connection to him when we he speaks and it is that connection, that need to believe in something better that moves us so deeply and is truly compelling.

But then we remember who we are up against and the truth for us is that there is a battle for ideas being waged in our country. We are not convinced that Barack, with the baggage he carries (Rezko, cocaine use, "present" votes, saying that he will meet personally with the Pres of Iran) and his lack of experience, can win this battle in a general election.

The 527's hit Gore hard and destroyed Kerry. Barack needs to be able to hit hard and take a punch. If he hits hard, he undermines his message of hope and conciliation (and do we want conciliation with people who want to legislate our rights and manifest the failed ideas of the past 8 years?). We don't, at this point, know if he can take a punch or several for that matter. So he's in a bind; we are in a bind!

Hillary has taken every hit they can give her. Bill and Hillary are a known quantity. He is a sleezeball but he has tremendous political capital that will serve us well worldwide. She is the definition of Machiavellian and we share her ideas. The truth is that we have benefited from her passionate efforts to realize ideas that have helped all of us.

The right wing? They are Machiavellian. Presidential politics, national politics and world affairs demand Machiavellian skills, especially today.

So, we are waiting and watching. We will support Obama if he wins the nomination. If he wins the nomination he may be able to carry the momentum through the general election. For now, we are backing Hillary, with all of her human madness, drama, experience and cunning.

Bill is not running for office... Hillary is. And why wouldn't a black person vote for someone who is ACTUALLY black, rather than for someone's husband who voted for them on some issues? That's not to say that he won't have influence on her administration by being the First Lady, I mean First Husband...

I like Obama and ultimately I see Obama and Hillary have the same goals for the American people. I just feel the immediate problem in this country in not that we are not "united" , I think everyone already feels "united" that George Bush has made a mess. I think the problem in this country is corporate greed. We can all hold hands and be united but its not going to lower the cost of heating oil, gasoline, health care and the overall cost of living. I just feel Hillary is tenascious enough to take on Big oil and the health care industy, and not take no for an anwer. I just feel if Obama is President , these big corporations will just "yes" him to death, not no real change will take place on these fundamental issues that affect middle class America every day. Just my opinion , but Im voting for whom I feel can get the fastest results on issues that affect the cost of living for the majority of Americans . The issue of black, white, man or woman is not even on my top 20 list of reasons to vote for someone. Im voting for Hillary.

Why do you think Hillary can fight against special interest lobbying when she's taken more money from them then any other candidate? Hillary had 8 years to get health care reform passed and she failed miserably. Its not that people were opposed to the idea at the time, they were opposed to the Clintons. Bill and Hill are divisive figures and the country cannot handle another 8 years of gridlock. You cant get there by "fighting" alone, you have to work with the Republicans to build a majority. Barack will stand his ground while remaining open minded, that is the best way to bring about real change.

I have a constitiutional question. If a president can only serve 2 terms how do we know who would really be president if Hillary were to win? I think this is a back door attempt to give Bill Clinton a third term. Hmm I wonder of Monica is preparing to return to Washington to continie her service to our country... I mean president.

Clinton (Bill) WAS at one time a well-respected figure in American politics. All that has changed, particularly since Bush senior became his BFF. Even though he is an ex-convict (lying to federal grand jury, obstruction of justice, and even though he had his license to practice law stripped from him, and even though he no longer has public employees (Arkansas National Guard) running him to see his many "mistresses, even after Monica Lewinsky, Jennifer Flowers and a host of others, many Americans still supported him. That has changed, it has changed because he became an attack dog for his wife's failed campaign. He has, and continues to, insert the issue of race on a daily basis in a misguided attempt to bolster his wife, who joins in her her husband's divisive tactics. The first words he spoke after his wife's dismal loss yesterday: Well, you know Jesse Jackson won SC in 1988: another blatant attempt to inject racism. It was like saying, "A black man won before; it's no big deal."
And their thinly veiled attempt to play "Good Cop - Bad Cop" fooled no one.

Bill Clinton has been reduced to a pathetic figure unable to complete a sentence without a reference to himself. It is a sorry sight. I am an African-American and at one time I campaigned for Bill. It is sad commentary on his lack of character and makes me feel as though I was duped in the past by his display of racial blindness. Too bad to see that Hillary has adopted this same posture.

Hillary is SO far from experienced, or ready. The media alows her to get away with such baloney. She will divide this country as never before, if she wins, Go Obama.

  • Posted By: magicmarker44 @ 01/27/2008 3:41:04 PM

Hillary is a huge hypocrite, not to mention that she's part of the machine, and has taken the most corporate money from Big Oil, health insurance companies, and military contractors. Look it up. At least Barack hasn't had enough time to be completely corrupted yet... She opposed the Bankruptcy Bill back in the '90's and then she runs for the Senate representing New York financial institutions and suddenly changes her position. The answer she gave in the debate before the New Hampshire primary is a classic Old Washington answer: "I voted for it, but hoped it would fail."

it is disheartening to read and always hear people talk about black as African Americans. True! their ancestors were taken from Africa but what about the Europeans? I have never heard someone say European American? Why this ignominous language of politics when it comes to our white brothers? These Europeans now Americans came from Europe just like the Latinos ,Asian. Its a shame that America racist.

its is a shame that many people are bringing the issue of race in this election, which to some extent it is.But what is wrong if Obama won in SC, where there the maority of the voters are homogenous? If Hilary had won in SC, what is the name we would have called these votes? It is disgusting to say the least. In this world, no matter your skin colour, we are all important and need each other to succeed. It is disheartening to read and llll

Orezi- first as a republican, I doubt it, my partner is an independent who usually votes dem and she has received enough emails from republican campigns to know the republicans want to face Obama- it was Clinton not Obama they attacked in their own primary- clearly shows who they are worried about, to take their prime time primary after a dem. So I don't think I'm the one out of it- Of course Hillary would love Kennedy support and I would have nothing to say about it- because she is not the one running based on a campaign of attacking old washington- Obama is- you;re argument would be much more persuasive if you did not leave out key facts like the whole vein of Obama's campaign. Old Washing ton- very bad- Kennedy represents that- so again he will use anything and say anything to win. You can;t argue around that. He lobbied for the very base he wants out of Washington.
