music4tomorrow you are totally out of it !!
Pls get real ! Just because the Kennedy's an establised Democratic family
supports him does not mean that he is a hyprocite.
Hillary would have loved to get the kennedy's support. Afterall, didn't Bill says JFK was the one who inspired him.
I am a committed life long Republican. If Hillary does win the nomination,She will most likely lose to the Republican due her divisive behavior and the fact that most Americans do not want a third Bill Clinton Term or a bored First Man running around the White House chasing interns.
Based on the performances I have seen so far, Obama is the one who can bring people from all walks of life and races together. Caroline Kennedy said it right. He is getting my vote. Where can I sign up to volunteer.

I love Ted kennedy, but the fact remains the same Ted kennedy represents the same Washington Obama is bashing and using Hillary as the poster child for. Yes he is a hypocrite, whatever it takes to win. Tell me something if he has not made a single, difference as a senator, how can he do it as a president? What HUGE bill did he sponor/author that has made our lives better here in the US. None because if it failed it could hurt him running for President and that's all he cares about - power. I would love to hear him tell us how he is going to get any of his "promises" through congress or the senate if the dems do not hold a historic majority. At least the other candidates on both sides are smart enough to present ideas that have a middle ground and maybe a chance regardless of the make up of the congress/ senate- but he attacks those ideas. Sounds like Bush- my way or no way, because I've decided it's the wrong way and we have seen that condescending attitude in all the debates with colleagues.

For some reason I could not finish my first comment. Second, Barack must counter the Clintons'distoritons and misinformation regarding his record. If Hillary persists in her personal attacks, she weakens chances for a Democratic victory of the White House. Even before the debate for South Carolina, I thought Hillary was unelectable. Now, she's proved it. She really doesn't have a class act after all. -- thomasd, Casper, WY

Hillary is no more using personal attacks than Barack does. I'm shocked that the media has so little scrutiny of Obama's record, yet takes every opportunity to use a fine-tooth comb on Hillary's record. Both have great ideas and opprotunities. I would be honored to have Hillary as my president, and I would be honored to have Obama as my president. BUT I really believe that experience and well-rounded knowledge of world leaders and world affairs will be desperately needed to clean up after GWB. Hillary's the best for that...period.

Clinton (Bill) WAS at one time a well-respected figure in American politics. All that has changed, particularly since Bush senior became his BFF. Even though he is an ex-convict (lying to federal grand jury, obstruction of justice, and even though he had his license to practice law stripped from him, and even though he no longer has public employees (Arkansas National Guard) running him to see his many "mistresses, even after Monica Lewinsky, Jennifer Flowers and a host of others, many Americans still supported him. That has changed, it has changed because he became an attack dog for his wife's failed campaign. He has, and continues to, insert the issue of race on a daily basis in a misguided attempt to bolster his wife, who joins in her her husband's divisive tactics. The first words he spoke after his wife's dismal loss yesterday: Well, you know Jesse Jackson won SC in 1988: another blatant attempt to inject racism. It was like saying, "A black man won before; it's no big deal."
And their thinly veiled attempt to play "Good Cop - Bad Cop" fooled no one.

Bill Clinton has been reduced to a pathetic figure unable to complete a sentence without a reference to himself. It is a sorry sight. I am an African-American and at one time I campaigned for Bill. It is sad commentary on his lack of character and makes me feel as though I was duped in the past by his display of racial blindness. Too bad to see that Hillary has adopted this same posture.

Obama won SC today. That does not say much for Obama. He played the race3 card for the last two weeks so he got the black vote or at least 75%. We have very few white Dems. in this state, however when experience and readiness to serve are measured his cute ways won't get the vote. I predict he will not win another state and who cares ?SC voted for ONE Democratic President in my lifetime and that was John Kennedy so todays victory party in the state of SC will not be the last Dance... John Edwards was the spoiler today. You Bet. I voted forSenator Clinton!

    • Posted By: CalexanderJ @ 01/27/2008 12:29:06 AM

Actually it was the Clintons that were playing the race card in an attempt to marginalize Obama as just a black candidate, the backlash against this is what galvanized the black community into such overwhelming support of Obama. Obama's victory in Iowa shows he has mass appeal, further he split the white male vote with Clinton, and won the white college educated vote in SC. His ability to appeal to independent and draw in new voters speaks well for in ability to win the general electon.

      YES WE CAN!

      • Posted By: jc6580 @ 01/27/2008 3:18:46 PM

I don't recall either of the Clintons injecting race in the SC primary. There was no mention of it, only inuendo and interpretation. People heard a few words about Obama's stance on Iraq and seemed to take it as a racial slam. Please...Hillary is a great woman as much as Obama is a great black man. Big deal. She has worked to find common ground and she can stand her ground, too.

Huh? Obama's a hypocrite because Ted Kennedy likes him and thinks he'd be a great president? I'm sorry, but Ted Kennedy is the lion of the Democratic party. He is the thread that links us to the time when our ideals were intact. And I can't blame him for seeing in Obama the talent that was also present in Bobby and Jack.

Kennedy is a party loyalist if we ever had one. You know that he realizes that Obama is the Democrats' best hope of winning in November and actually changing the direction of politics.

When Obama says he wants something new, you shouldn't take him to be saying it's something that's unprecedented and completely made from whole cloth. We once had the spirit that he is trying to awaken. We had that spirit in the first half of the 60's. We elected JFK and passed Social Security. We decided to shoot for the moon, and by God, we didn't wuss out when we realized how hard it would be. Obama wants the country to feel that sort of optimism again. That's the sort of thing we're capable of, and we know it. And we can do it again.

Ted Kennedy knows better than maybe anyone in the world that Obama can get us there, and there is absolutely no chance in Hell the Hillary ever could.

Obama is a hypocrite, he proved that by lobbying for Kennedy's endorsement. He attacks Hillary for being Old Washington, Old Politics and doing anything to win. Yet I don't know many Senators who are older Washington/ Politics then Ted Kennedy, so I guess the old way, the old politics is OK when Obama uses it to do anything to win. The Kennedy camp said all three lobbied hard for his endorsement, that means Obama can't double talk his way out of this one. Today in my eyes he fully embraced the Old Way, the Old Washington and the Old Politics and proved without a shadow of a doubt, he is the one willing to do and say anything to win. This is like a daily thing he attacks his opponets for voting on the war, leaving out the fact the information they had then and today is much different and hoping Americans are stupid enough to forget that. yet he voted presented over a 100 times present with full and truthful disclosure on this bills. He knocks his opponets for using outside groups yet when they benefit him he shrugs it off with a memo that's laughable when it comes to it's validilty. Today Obama proved he is not a man of his word nor does he believe the speeches others are writing for him. He will just do anything to win.

Here is the extract from the homepage of that church:
One of their visions include "A congregation with a non-negotiable COMMITMENT TO AFRICA"

"We are a congregation which is Unashamedly Black and Unapologetically Christian... Our roots in the Black religious experience and tradition are deep, lasting and permanent. We are an African people, and remain "true to our native land," the mother continent, the cradle of civilization. God has superintended our pilgrimage through the days of slavery, the days of segregation, and the long night of racism. It is God who gives us the strength and courage to continuously address injustice as a people, and as a congregation. We constantly affirm our trust in God through cultural expression of a Black worship service and ministries which address the Black Community."

Certainly sounds better than a non-negotiable commitment to Saudi Arabia!

      Obama '08! (I'm a middle-aged white woman - so there!)

Where in that statement does it say whites or hispanics or anybody else are not welcome to worship with a black congregation that is not going to forget their culture or the history of slavery in the country?

Some people as shown in the comments od Centrist and Sad stateof affairs, will never reach beyond their biases and limits. Their days are almost over, they will be passed by as the world changes around them. Jack Welch once said "If the outside is changing faster than the inside, the end is near"

    • Posted By: centrist @ 01/27/2008 1:45:09 PM

Change for the pure sake of change is neither sustainable nor is it substantive. Did Mr. Obama himself not mean this when he talked about the Reagan change?
The great democratic process should allow for all thoughts and examinations. Being blind-sighted or biased would not serve the purpose well. Why get defensive when asked a question? Why not provide a forthright answer? Just for your kind information, I will be glad for Mr. Obama if he wins the nomination.

But we need to get before these questions before they surface later. So do you think the Republicans will give Mr. Obama a free ride in the general election?

      • Posted By: wmoore2476 @ 01/27/2008 3:01:46 PM

        Centrist;
You started you comments by stating unambiguosly, and I dare say with bias, that Barak's support is from the extreme left and this extreme left has been given veto authority over his cabinet appointmnets. You have no credibility.

  • Posted By: music4tomorrow @ 01/27/2008 2:59:52 PM

Well we know today he is also a hypocrite and he can;t hide behind the double talk with this one. He runs based on his message of change, calling Hillary old Washington, old politics, the old way. Yet he will push for endorsements from someone like Ted Kennedywho is ancient he has been in the senate so long. And he did lobby hard for Kennedy's endorsement, Kennedy camp said so. I guess the old way in Washington is ok when Obama is using it to do anything to win, another charge he leveled at his opponets. Just like the outside parties campaigning, he claims he doesn't want them but does nothing to stop them and attacks his opponents when their supporters play the same. He is nothing but a hypocrit who will do anything to win, by accepting Kennedy's endorsement today he embraced everything he faults Clinton for. Why doesn't newsweek or some other magazine ask him somet ough questions like how his message of change will suceed with a republican congress/ senate or without the help and support of the old , bad, politics and senators. Wow, the more he talks the more he convinces me he is the one doing anything to win.

The exit polls have spoken a million words in favor of Senator Obama. Bill and Hillary Clinton are the true definition of "dirty politicians". Hillary claims to have 35 years of experiences which truly and righfully are 35 years of baggages to which the American public shoud not be exposed in the next 4 years. This is the opinion of a naturalized Vietnamese immigrant from California, CoCo Nguyen

Washington is broken. How many times have we heard that old line. Anytime someone new wants a spot in Washington, that's their mantra. Guess what the Washington "status quo" is? It's called the Constitution. And he doesn't seem to mind getting support and endorsements from all those "status quo" politicians in Washington. This is nothing but smoke and mirrors. He is a WASHINGTON SENATOR. Duh. He's from Washington. He works in Washington. He's running for a job in Washington. What is broke and what is he going to fix? The problem in Washington is there is no significant majority for either party. Nothing will change until that changes.

Florida will vote for Clinton because the Clintons are loved by hispanics? Why are the Clintons loved by hispanics? Did Bill Clinton help you to get health insurance? Do you actually believe that Barack Obama wouldn't help the plight of hispanic Americans, as well as that of all other immigrants? Let's not forget where Barack came from... Here in Colorado I know many hispanics who are voting for Obama. My hope is that Florida has a positive impact on this election, and decides that the status quo isn't working. The futures of our nation and our children are at stake. Can we really afford to keep putting the same families in office? The hour has come for a fundamental change in Washington. The poster biy for this new approach is Barack Obama. A vote for Obama is a vote for monumental change, and a chance to be a part of something historic. Obama '08!!!

All of this talk about republicans coming out in record numbers to vote against clinton. Do you think for one moment they are going to let african americans overwhelming vote RACIST for an african american ? They too will come out in record numbers to vote against the RACIST african american vote. Obama will not win the general election. This ridiculously lopsided African american vote along racial lines is going to make the republicans and the rest of white american very angry. Lets chuck in the latinos as well.

Have you seen the polls lately? Obama is the one Dem who can win against any candidate the Repubs can run. He and McCain are tied at this time, but this will change quickly as the Obama movement gainst more momentum. Trust me.
