Thank you Mr. Nolan for providing a glimpse into how Heath was on the set of TDK, and showing us how much you care. I am still looking forward to seeing TDK, but I do think I will cry all the way through it.

Thank you Heath for being who you are, for giving us so much, especially Ennis del Mar. You will always be in our hearts. Can't believe how much it hurts to realise that you're really gone.

Thankyou to Mr Christopher Nolan, a film maker I have respected with awe since 'Momento'. I love 'Batman Begins' and 'The Prestige' and I will follow whatever he makes. Heath Ledger was an awesome talent and I think that 'The Dark Knight' is the best role he has ever had. Heath is quoted as saying it was the best fun he ever had making a movie. My best wishes for 'Matilda', his daughter.

There's been a lot of talk lately amongst Batman-fans in particular that we are feeling an awful lot of grief for a person we've never really met and even before we've really seen any footage from the movie, other than the fantastic trailer released this december. But, the more I think about it, the more I understand it. This movie has been our life for (at least) the last two years, we've followed as the movie progressed and Heath's transformation into the Joker to a point where this was our own reality, and with the viral-marketing last year, it became our reality, and we felt included in a way I've never experienced with a movie before. Though, I live in Norway, and was never really able to participate in the marketing-stunts myself, I felt included. Thank you for everything Heath Ledger, and thank you Chris Nolan for showing us that you care so much. Looking forward to the event of a lifetime, come July. - Lars Christian Pedersen, Norway

Thank you so much for writing this Chris. As a fan, we desperately wonder what the whole filming experience was like, both on and off set, and we truly appreciate the window you have shared. Having never met him, I am finding it very curious that I am mourning Heath's passing as though I have lost a close friend, and I think you've nailed the reason: Heath was one of us.

Jason Baum: Thank you so much for writing this Chris. As a fan, we desperately wonder what the whole filming experience was like, and we truly appreciate this window you have shared. Having never met him, I am finding it very curious that I am mourning him as though it were a close friend I've lost, and your description simply nails it: Heath was one of us.

One of the finest things you've ever written, Chris, and that's saying a lot. I eagerly anticipate all of your films, but none so much as what I'm confident will be a worthy memorial to a great, great actor. Thank God his last finished work is in your sensitive hands.

Thank you for writing this, it was very beautiful. I am looking forward to seeing Heath Ledger as The Dark Knight this summer. Though I did not pay much attention to him prior to his death, I was extremely affected by it. As I watched his old movies the other day, and saw old interview clips...I felt like I knew him. He seemed like a very relateable guy, and I would have enjoyed meeting him one day. Ah well, perhaps in the next life.

To Christopher Nolan: I am looking forward to seeing Heath in "The Black Knight", though there will be alot of tears after the movie. He was truly a great actor and will be missed deeply by all. His presence was captivating.
    Thank you!

I have been very saddened to hear of Heath Ledger's passing. I appreciate the story from Mr. Nolan and am looking forward to seeing the new Batman movie especially now.

It is such a nice refreshing thought to think of someone in Hollywood as being a warm and really genuine human being. I will always picture him now in full Joker makeup skateboarding down the streets of Chicago. You are a stand up person Mr. Nolan, and I wish there were more of you and Heath in this world, let alone Hollywood. Thank you for your class act, and for sharing Heath with the rest of us.

It is a rare thing when I find myself respecting an actor, not only for his talent but for his strength of character. By all accounts, Heath was not only a fantastic actor (which we can all see for ourselves) but a kind and humble man. He will be fondly remembered and greatly missed, both for the enduring characters who live on in celluloid, but for his own.

What a lovely and rare combination in Hollywood: incredible talent and humbleness. How refreshing to hear of an actor that would take the time to thank the entire crew for indulging a creative moment. Heath will be remembered both for the characters he gave us on screen, as well as his own.

This is such an nice read, I would (and hopefully everyone else) much rather read how he lived then speculation on how he might have died. Chris Nolan - you are one stand up guy. Heath - see ya on the other side brother.

Thank you for sharing that poignant moment with us. What a true professional! Eager to explore, learn and share. Such a young talent, way beyond his professional years. Regrettably, because we need more like him, regrettably... someone who commands respect, but would never, ever expect it. Thank you from his fans!!

Beautifully stated. Heath Ledger had "IT". I was amazed reading thru tributes after his death and most sounded as tho' he were an up and coming star versus the true talent he'd more than proven himself to be. Heath smiled and you felt it in your heart. Only a precious few possess that talent. So much dimmer the world shall be without his light. But lucky are we to have witnessed it while it burned!

To Christoper Nolan: thank you for such a personal and touching memorial for Heath Ledger. And to Richard Doetsch: thank you for putting into words what I can't about this tribute! One of the nicest, most memorable things I've read about the talented actor.

This is perfect example of what the world should be focused on when discussing Heath Ledger. Not sensationalized fictional accounts of how he died but the character he possessed, the heart that he imbued in his work, the lives that he touched with his soul. Instead, we are bombarded with a media rush to judgment that people devour as gospel and spread like an elementary school rumor.

Maybe the media should treat the topic of death as if it was someone they loved as opposed to a way to capture ratings and sell their wares.

Thank you Chris Nolan for giving a glimpse of the way he lived as opposed to the way he died.
