    please understand one thing all u liberal minded western media people.
    if a muslim is asked to do something in the name of religion - to shield a terrorist, to shelter a terrorist, to financially and logistically aid a terrorist - he will NOT refuse.
    thats the power religion/ god has in their lives. there are no moderate muslims. get over that.

      I am a Muslim myself and I can tell you that if there is a Muslim that does that and helps out a terrorist, then he's a pretty stupid and irrogant Muslim, because he doesnt understand the laws of Islam well enough to know that killing innocent lives is an extremely wrong and prohibited act in Islam.

    As stated in the Quran, Islam is not to be imposed by hate. that is it is not forced on people. The so called Muslim extremists are just there to make Islam look like a horrific religion and shun people away from it and its real beliefs. Mohammad was a prophet of peace not war, and Jihad being one of the branches of Islam means "struggle" and it comes in three parts: struggle with self (highest level), struggle with wealth (second level) and finally struggle with sword (lowest level). These terrorists who call themselves muslim and are disgracing the name of Islam have gone ahead and used the lowest and last level first and made it the most important goal of Islamic teachings. but it is not so .. they have not done the first step, they haven't overcome the devil in themselves so they can help others. Unfortunately they are everyone's enemy both Muslims and non-Muslims and they must be defeated and wiped off the face of the Earth.

    Many moderate Muslims get over being moderate if they are asked by their imams to do something morally and politically reprehensive, as long as it furthers the spread of Islam across the face of the earth. Islam will not be satisfied until it rules the entire world - and the Koran teaches that it is a divine command to do that.

      That rings very familar with what Europeans did to Native Americans. Christianity steeped in arrogance. As an American, we need to stop trying to impose our ideals on others as if they need them (case in point - Reagan telling the Chinese to stop abortions.... What an absurd thing to say. Having lived in China, I can understand the need). Americans also need to take back their country and work on developing technologies that ELIMINATE our need fossil fuel (and biofuels are not the solution). There is so much Americans have to offer, but we have to stop forcing nations to accept our view point.

        The Red Chinese used overpopulation as an excuse for abortions in order to break down the family structure. When you have no relatives, it makes you just that more dependent on the state. I suppose that because of overpopulation, you would find mass graves of baby girls acceptable for the common good, as well.

    Why can't we call the enemy by it's name? We can't because the enemy is arrogance, and we are guilty of it. The enemy is greed, and we are guilty of that, too. We will never effectively deal with those who hate us until we put our own house in order. We can't claim the moral high ground, and the author is in serious error when he tries to do so.

    Why is it patriotic to take America back for Christ, but evil to spread the word of Allah? Radical religious beliefs of any group are equally dangerous, and only lead to more hate, bigotry and suffering.

    Nobody will "win" the war on terror; we will all continue to lose as long as we remain steeped in our own hubris.

    It hasn't been that long since Christian crusaders felt it was their God-given right and duty to bring the love of Christ to all of humanity by what ever means it took.. In the last century fervent believers in both communism and capitalilsm employed violence and terror to save people and cultures from themselves. Anti-abortion zealots in this country have killed people in the name of their religious ideaology. In confronting the threat of Islamic fundamentalists, it would be hypocritical in the extreme to not at least aknoweledge that "We have met the enemy and He is Us."
