Comment: I see there are several supporters of Clinton, though I do not understand it, I am more annoyed that those supporters are narrow minded thinkers who do not wish to see the truth about her. They do not have a problem seeing the truth in others, yet, their denial of her lack of character and lack of experiance is ridiculous! Clinton is deceiving and the most perfected scam artist there is. She lies about anything to get votes and is certainly not sincere, no amount of tears will convince me. I am sickened by her display of self indulgence and self interest.

Comment: An Obama sucker speaking of narrow mindedness. Get over it you bunch of hippies. Hillary is the frontrunner for a reason - experience and character.

Comment: Did You Know? Hillary received more votes in Florida than Sen. McCain, the winner of the Republican primary. Hillary also received more votes in Florida alone that Sen. Obama received in Iowa, New Hampshire, Nevada and South Carolina combined.

Comment: I am undecided, but I am also disappointed with the Clintons. If they can't win the nomination they seem to be willing to attempt to steal it, a la "Clueless George" and his cronies. Case in point--her pandering in FL and her attempt to reinstate the FL delegates. If she wants the White House bad anough to attempt to take it dishonorably I'm not sure we should nominate or elect her. I am beginning to believe that an Obama - McCain race would offer clear choices without having to worry so much about the influence of the Bush, Clinton, Bush, Clinton establishment; which in my view is materializing as being a very good thing.

Comment: It is wrong that just since some cocal leaders made some wrong decision then to punish people. The election in fact is all about to here people's voice. So it's nothing with "steal", and no matter Florida's voting result be counted or not, the people's voice can never be stolen.

btw, the lame blast of ted kennedy for endorsing obama is the biggest joke of the campaign...is that group for real...the boys (wjc) can rape women; leave them under water for 8hrs (ejk) and the wacko left fringe women look the other way...but not endorse their candidate, its a "gang bang"......give me a break

Comment: Has everyone lost sight of the issues during all this mudslinging? Seriously, let's not make another mistake for President!! Almost everyone has access to the information highway in our homes, libraries, and schools. Can no one make an intelligent decision based upon facts? What exactly is Obama's legacy and record in the Senate? Why were none of his Senate records maintained? How great were the 90s when the Clintons were in the whitehouse? Why should Ted Kennedy play "Daddy of the Senate" and punish Hillary because Bill was playing hardball in SC? The first one to raise the race card were those who jumped on Hillary for statng that Martin Luther King had a dream, but LBJ signed the Civil Rights Act into law. What is wrong with that? Seriously, I would not call that putting down MLK! He was a great man in a horrible time trying to do the impossible. IT TAKES A VILLAGE to work together!! Let's make an intelligent choice based upon fact and record NOT on who can work a crowd!

  • Posted By: Dartay @ 01/29/2008 1:31:02 PM

Comment: I find it disheartening to find ONCE again that "mudslinging" has caused people of this country to loose focus. Why must everyone get on a bandwagon like a bunch of lemmings just to watch from the sidelines about who should be president? We now have a wonderful information highway in our homes and libraries to look into the canidates and think for ourselves. The issues should matter NOT the way that someone can carry a crowd. Has anyone noticed Obama's actual accomplishments in the Senate? Why weren't any of his Senate records maintained? Hillary shouldn't be "punished" by Daddy Kennedy of the Senate because Bill has played hardball in the political arena. Come on people... let's not make another mistake for president!

Comment: It will be very interesting to see what the press does tonight when it comes to the Florida primary on the Democratic side. While the press claims it does not matter due to no delegates they also stated that Michigan did not matter for the same reason but then super analyzed the exit polls and the demographic breakdown of those voting for Hillary and those voting for uncommitted. Either the primary in Florida MATTERS and hence the media should talk about who wins, by what margin, and why or it does NOT MATTER and they should not talk about this stuff at all.

Comment: Good luck on getting the Clinton voters to vote for Obama if he wins the nomination. You Obama supporters have done nothing but put Hillary and Bill down in a vile , disqusting way. All you ever do is disenfranchaise the democratic party. There is going to be a mass exodus to the republican party if Obama wins. There has been way too much name calling by the media and Obama fans.

Comment: Spin Spin Spin. Only it aint Clinton that is spinning. It the people in the media, that SPIN every single thing in Obamas favor. Including somehow that Bill clinton is out to 'get' Obama. Hey, as long as the MEDIA SPINS it that way, who can argue. Just like this idiot tapdanced article, SPUN in Obamas favor. None of this SPINNING is going to save Obama in the white vote. Not a crusted Ed Kennedy either. The Kennedy endorsement is seen as a deep betrayal by Kennedy agains the Clintons who worked very hard and were very dedicated to Kennedy for more than a decade. So you keep right on SPIINNING as the OBAMA camp continues to RIP APART the democratic party.

Comment: Why aren't people questioning the hypocricy of Obama saying he is running as a Washington outsider and hates lobbyists and then aligns himself so closely to those who are Washington and lobbyists through and through when it comes to Teddy Kennedy and John Kerry. Having to use these folks to get the nomination (if Obama does) will be draped on Obama's shoulders by the GOP big time.

Comment: Clearly an attractive, gracious couple! Most presidential couple! Both are brilliant and poised, and poised to represent our nation with joint character and integrity and vision! Senator Obama's candidacy is a vision for the entire country. He is not campaigning to become the first black president, a fact which will prove incidental, albeit tremendously historical. He is a bellwether for what America can stand for again!

Comment: I guess it is actually simple, either believe Obama, or don't. Believe the Clintons, or don't. I feel Bill was one of the best presidents of all time, and one of the worst people. I believe Hillary could be a great president, while being one of the worst people. Obama may be a terrible president, but I believe he is a good person. Either believe that Kopechne's death was an accident that Kennedy couldn't prevent, or don't. None of these subjects have anything at all to do with race. Race is not an issue here, and shouldn't be an issue in any of this. I don't trust Clinton, I don't really trust Kennedy at all either, I do trust Obama to do his best to do what is right for this country, not just what is right for himself.

  • Posted By: Change is a verb not a platform @ 01/28/2008 5:01:24 PM

    Comment: Questions:

If Mary Jo Kopechne, the woman that Kennedy left to die in his car submerge in water, was a BLACK woman would OBAMA have accepted Kennedy's endorsement???

If Ted Kennedy was a drunk black man who left Mary Jo Kopechne, a young white woman, to die in a car submerged in water, would Ted be a Senator or a prisoner???

Answer truthfully, take a moment to think about it, then tell me race doesn't matter.

I thought her speech was very MLK Also Obamas wife commenting on a little black girl from south side Chicago being the next First Lady....Bill Clinton isn't the only one using race.... We must hold all parties to the same standard...Don't get me wrong Clinton is wrong on this but Michelle Obama has played the race thing as well.

Blacks play the race card as if only they "own" the race card.

Comment: Unfortunately, in many cases race does seem to matter. Many people will "play" race on both sides of the issues. I must be in the minority then, to believe that people are capable of seeing beyond this, to vote for change of current and past views, and honestly believe that RACE DOES NOT MATTER. White, black, red, latino, asian, any and all mixes of them. See past it, stop looking back, get over it and move forward.

We especially need to respect Kennidy family's huge sacrifies for this country, for democracy. Though I don't think John kennedy's torch should be home stored, I will always believe that JFK and Bobby K is the treasure in the history of USA.

I live in Florida, was a non-affiliated registered voter and switched to the Democratic party in order to be able to vote against Clinton in the primaries. She should be ashamed of not caring about how her behaviour affects our party as a whole. She is willing to destroy our chance at fixing this country if she doesn't win. If she doesn't play, nobody plays! Go away.

We, solely, my fellow African kings and queens built this nation but have not shared in its wealth. Obama represents an opportunity to right wrongs, distribute wealth fairly, and make reperations from the heirs of slave owners to the only heirs of the people who were forced to build this country. To characterize the honorable Ms. Michelle Obama, it is time to take care of one own's house.

    • Posted By: openMind342 @ 01/28/2008 13:09:43

Comment: Your post is not the unity and crossing definitions of culture and race that Mr. Obama is running on. I believe in his vision of uniting, and moving FORWARD, NOT BACK. I believe it can be done, but not when continued division, by race, is propagated as the underlying platform. That is NOT change. It is not where he stands, and as a people who truly want change, should not be your platform either.

The current government was not the one either. Reparation to you because of countless horrible crimes 150 years ago does not entitle you to more or less of the wealth. Only you can raise yourself up. Your comment, about the possibility of reparations are going to scare the voters away. It will not happen. Get your education, earn your own way just like the other 99% of all of us working poor. Comment: THE CLINTON"S ARE JUST TO polarizing. Too many scandals, to many investigations. I do not believe they are guilty in all those scandals I just believe AMERICA needs a change from the establishment. We do not need a years worth of divisive campaigning. IT would be amazing to see McCain vs OBAMA. A GOOD CLEAN HEAVY WEIGHT FIGHT. NO ONE GETS THEIR EAR BIT OFF. A ROMNEY CAMpaign would be just like BUSH'S very divisive and full of lies. IF AMERICA CHOOSES THESE TWO CANDIDATES to represent their respective parties then I think the AMERICAN political process can begin to heal and set an example to the rest of the world. WHAT KIND OF MESSAGE ARE WE SENDING IRAQIS and AFGHANS. IF we promote racial divide why shoud they give us the benefit of the doubt concerning ABU GRADE and BLACK WATER. ARE WE REALLY RACIST CAN IT BE THAT THE CLINTON"S ARE A REFLECTION OF OUR SOCIETY. DIVIDE people so we the CLINTON'S can attain the power we are entitled too and so rightfully deserve after my conduct in the OVAL OFFICE. No one else is capable of being president. I will become nasty and play the race card because the "MEDIA" is trying to take away the presidency from me and my wife.

Comment: The coveted endorsement of TED KENNEDY " is a huge blow to New York Senator Hillary Clinton, who is both a senatorial colleague and a friend of the Kennedy family. In a campaign where Clinton has trumpeted her experience over Obama's call for hope and change, the endorsement by one of the most experienced and respected Democrats in the Senate is a particularly dramatic coup for Obama"Milligan 2008

'Kennedy believes Obama can ``transcend race'' and bring unity to the country, a Kennedy associate told the Globe. Kennedy was also impressed by Obama's deep involvement last year in the bipartisan effort to craft legislation on immigration reform, a politically touchy subject the other presidential candidates avoided, the associate said".Milligan 2008

Everytime that I start to believe that this country is at least trying to evolve regarding racism, some narrow minded obviousl,y inbreed red-neck like you comes along. Because you obviously haven't been paying attention, allow me to enlighten you. One of the reasons that Senator Clinton has lost a portion of the Black vote is because of all the negative personal mud slinging coming from her cam. I include myself in this because I really respect Senator Clinton and was equally torn beteen Senators Clinton and Senator Obama but to be honest I do not know of any emails sent out from Obama supporters questioning whether or not she is a terrorist, drug dealer etc. they have all come from Clinton supporters and Republicans. If I am wrong please correct me. I expect each of them to criticize each other's politics but it is not necessary for the attacks to become personal. I do not remember Presiddent Clinton engaging in mud slinging during his campaign and that was one of the reasons that I voted fro him. Why does it keep happening now, One more thing, There are certain types of EXTREMELY STUPID Americans "YOU" who believe that the only reason that Blacks will vote for Senator Obama is because he is also Black. What you fail to mention is that the man could walk on water and you still would not vote for him because he is Black.

  • Posted By: ltrobinette418 @ 01/28/2008 12:19:11 AM

Comment: I agree with you that Hillary has many positive attributes. I also think President Clinton was a good president. Having said that, I support Obama for one overriding reason. I believe he is the only candidate who has identified the cause of the federal government to get anything of any substance done, and that is the preoccupation of most elected national officials with the political paradigm of the past.

I think, looking back on it with some perspective now, the Democratic party began to come apart when Lyndon Johnson, realizing he was unelectable in 1968, bowed out of the contest. This, coupled with Hubert Humphrey's defeat in 1968, created a vacuum that enabled the left-wing extremists of all stripes and all causes, led by George McGovern, to seize control of whatever was left of the party. Hence the Reagan revolution, following a miserable four years under Jimmy Carter, who certainly was a smart man but who never understood that it is the job of the President to LEAD; to INSPIRE the nation and the citizens.

And ever since, we've had so-called "gridlock."

At this point in history, this nation needs a leader, not a tactician with a strategist in the residence. I am 61, quarter-century in law enforcement, from a military family, son fought in Iraq in the 82nd Airborne Division of the United States Army. I've lived through a lot, and I know in my heart that Obama is the real deal and probably the only chance we get this time.

    • Posted By: Dr. Richard Trickle @ 01/28/2008 00:51:34

Comment: I don't believe in supporting a political party solely out of long standing affiliation or loyalty and for purposes of whom I am intending to support in this election boils down to characteristics of the individual and what particular characteristics they bring to the White House.

When you say, "[A]t this point in history, this nation needs a leader, not a tactician with a strategist in the residence" it prompts me to ask, 'What qualities comprise a leader?' Leading a nation through inspiration demands more than a carnival barker. Someone has to be instrumental in thinking through policies, not just espousing an ideal without demonstrating the ability or propensity of thinking things through. But inspirational thoughts aside, I think Hillary is a great opportunity to hopefully condition our country to begin looking at women in THE leadership role within the White House.

While I'm not 61, I'm not far behind. I'm a former Marine, my father fought in WWII and Korea, my brother-in-law in Vietnam.... but this doesn't really add anything to change the substance of what I've previously written. My logic either stands on its own or it doesn't. My heart tells me differently about Obama and what is motiviating his supporters to vote in his favor. Unity may be Obama's theme, but what concerns me is that large numbers of Obama's supporters are motivated STRICTLY on the basis of his race. Res Ipsa Loquitor.

I'm also pretty conservative when it comes to presidential elections, even though I'm a lifelong registered Democrat from Florida. My voting record for president (I was first allowed to vote in 1968) is Nixon, Nixon, Ford, Reagan, Bush 41, Bush 41, Clinton, and Bush 43, Kerry. Seven Republicans, two Democrats.

Also Obama calls Florida???s voting ??? a ???beauty pageant??? so what is wrong in calling him a ???fairy tale???. It is clear that he is adding insult to the injury that Florida Democrats already feel. [Not only were Florida Democrats silenced in 2000, now DNC has done it again so as to give importance to Iowa, NH and SC. Florida is more representative of diversity than SC. There is a record turnout in Florida despite DNC???s actions. I think the Democrats and DNC will pay a price in the General Election for ignoring a large state like Florida and giving more importance to SC.]

Comment: I think your comments are well-founded, but I also think Obama is on this issue at a much more effective level than Hillary. My big problem with Hillary is that it seems she will say anything, depending on the audience, that she can get away with. Then if that doesn't work she trots Bill out. What a shameful way to campaign -- calling in The Man when she can't get the job done. And what a shameful way for him to act! Somebody should remind him that he is a former President of the United States, not a hit man.

In the end, if there is any right left in the world, Obama's message of hope and change will prevail.

Comment: I think Obama's message rings of idealism and while this appeals to many people (especially younger voters) I think it reinforces my belief that he is young and inexperienced. I'm not sure that Hillary will say anything to anyone. I do believe that she chooses her words well. I also believe that she is a great tactician and I also believe both Bill and Hillary demonstrate they are good strategists. I want this type of mind at work contending with issues on the international stage. I also can anticipate Hillary's policies will be similar to Bill Clinton's while he was in office. Bill Clinton was a friend of the environment, he was generally well received by other countries and their leadership, and our domestic economy recovered from the dissmal years under George Bush Sr. I also don't think Bill has acted inappropriately while talking to the media, but rather, the media has demonstrated a brazen pattern of going soft on Obama while conducting a feeding frenzy when reporting on the Clintons.

While it may be uplifting to believe that Obama is bringing fresh ideals to the table, I don't think he is practical and it is rather niave. While we may want to give him a chance, be forgiving if he is inexperienced, it is important to remember that leaders of other countries which pose a current and substantial threat to our country's interests will not give him room for mistakes nor respect on the world stage. Obama may entertain lofty concepts and ideals, I don't think he can or will deliver. Give me the horse I know.

Comment: Barak Obama is both white and black. That is his X factor. Unfortunately, it looks as though Latino's will vote for Hillary three to one.

The only way OBAMA can gain ground in the Latino community is through advertising. He needs to participate in a commercial which emphasizes UNITY. This commercial will emphasize his MOM in the beginning. Then it will show five couples, one Asian, Indian, Black, Latino and White. These couples should be crowded around OBAMA thanking him for bringing them together and expressing their trust in his health care, education and justice system reform plans. These issue bring the LATINO and AFRICAN AMERICANS TOGETHER. AT the end a simple statement, TOGETHER WE CAN CONQUER ANY OBSTACLE AND ACHIVE ANY SOLUTION (eddiewhere2008) . This commercial should be blitzed across T.V. screens in America for the next couple of weeks. IN EVERY STATE OBAMA campaigns in, he should organize marches of unity which inlude all RACES and AGES. THE THEME should be UNITY -a solid solution to the DIVISIVE ISSUES WHICH CAUSE RACIAL TENSION. A COMMERCIAL should be made of these MARCHES. IT'S MAIN MESSAGE WILL BE THAT OBAMA CAN BRING ALL RACES ALL AGES TOGETHER to fix racial divisions. He has to show America how he can UNITE the NATION. I think every parent enjoys watching their child work with others to find solution to problems.
IF enough Latino's see this commercial and understand the message of unity they might give OBAMA a chance. Do not forget pictures are worth a thousand words and in this case, these commercials will be worth thousands of votes. Latino's feel they can economically improve their future with HILLARY's plan.

IT will be extremely diffiult for Obama to garner this vote unless he can show his economic plan will benefit the Latino community more than Hillary's. HILLARY IS being specific about the ramifications of her agenda on the Latino community. OBAMA has not been specific enough. The Latino's have no idea what OBAMA's economic plan is and how it affects them.

Comment: I think Hillary would be a great president. She brings experience to the table that Obama lacks. In addition to being more seasoned than Obama, I also believe Hillary is much more intelligent than Obama - Hillary is sharp. Furthermore, during her husband's presidency our country was received much more kindly than the present administration. This is good will our country would be in good stead to capitalize on. What I find disturbing is that the notion of a female for president is still not well received, yet women comprise roughly half of our population. I think a significant portion of the black community is disingenous to suggest they are not supporting Obama solely on the basis of his race.

  • Posted By: khasroo29 @ 01/27/2008 10:12:40 PM

Comment: The Clintons are reminding people of the necessity of experience as a prerequisite for the presidential race. Look at the history, many leaders like Abraham Lincon, Ronald Regan and many had no experience and history tells us they were successful presidents. Circumstance turned them greatest statesman and earned admiration.

Comment: This is not about race - but very much about the past vs. the future. We can respect the past, but it is indeed time to move on. Obama won with his positive message of hope for the future, he inspired the young voters to get out and get involved, and he does indeed have a good set of ideas on economic stimulus, taxes and the economy, education, etc. That's why he won. The anger came from what the voters saw the Clinton's doing - and it turned them off. Obama proved to them that this is not race against race, poor against rich or young against old. This is OUR future he talked about...OURS, not the Clintons!

I would have said that if it happened some other way. If you say this 100 times, it does not wash away the truth.

Comment: Analysis: Racial divide could hurt Obama

Do you really think so? Why is there a racial divide? Is it money? Education? Religion? Opportunity? What is it? What exactly do blacks want and what do whites want? I mean if a drug using black male of a single white mother is the next possible President, don't you think the playing field has leveled? Obama won S.C (not because he was black) and his supporters are still angry....Please someone explain why there is so much anger about being black. Thank you.

  • Posted By: toot_sie @ 01/27/2008 8:47:24 PM

Comment: What we should note here is that Obama had a significant chunk of the white vote--just about 10 percent below Clinton's number. He earned whites' vote at a much higher rate than was predicted. And along with the number of black voters supporting him, he was able to bring together quite a diverse coalition. Billary earned a sound spanking, indeed!

I don't see how they serve any purpose except to get media attention and sell newspapers. Both sides are at fault here and I had hoped for an Edwards win that would teach both sides a lesson. Too bad that didn't happen.
Yet, It does seem like the Obama camp is getting a free ride from the media. The cynic in me says that's exactly why he's been 'chosen'.....he has no history and doesn't speak in specifics so no one can debate him. As much as I was enthralled the first time I heard him speak, I want to make a decision based on issues and working experience - like anyone has to go through for a job interview.

I will think about voting for McCain if Hillary is not the Dem. nominee. I refuse to handover the country to someone with only two years of senate/relevant experience. Great speeches, which Obama does well, will not run a country.

Comment: For all of those of say that they'll vote for John McCain if Hillary doesn't win the nomination: I guess you must also love George W Bush a lot. Because on the issue of Iraq McCain is just as bad as Bush, maybe worse. He'll keep us there indefinately, pouring in money we don't have and can't afford to squander. All the while the education of our children and our industry suffers. McCain knows nothing about running this country! When asked about ecomonics he switches the conversation back to Iraq. It's as if he thinks he can only win when we're all to afraid to think straight! So complain about Obama's lack of experience if you will, I think McCain would be better off being elected president of Iraq, not the US!

THERE IS NO DOUBT THAT WASHINGTON MADE THE CLINTONS what they are and I do not believe it is in the Clintons' best interest to try changing a system that has been so successful for them. I simply can not believe a work Bill Clinton says after he spent millions of tax payer dollars defendin his right to try to change definitions of words in order to prevent his impeachment. Lest we forget, Bill has pitiful credibility and is one on a very short list of IMPEACHED Presidents. Sad, but true.

Hillary confuses me with her reference to experience. SHE WAS A FIRST LADY. A First Lady tha alienated many of the people in Washington, not because of her experience, but because of her character. SHE IS POLARIZING. George Bush is polarizing. PLEASE...no more Clinton and Bush dynasty. PLEASE.

Comment: Obama could have problems with the Clinton attempt to resurrect Florida delegates. His campaign, with its focus on participatory democracy, will have a hard time integrating an attempt to keep Florida voters from "being heard," even though it's probably the right thing to do. There's also the possibility that the delegates *will* ultimately be seated, despite his opposition, if only to avoid alienating Floridians before the general election. If this happens, his present position and (hypothetical) attempt to block these delegates at the convention will almost certainly benefit Hillary.

Obama should at least consider softening his position prior to the Florida primary, and expressing his willingness to seat the Florida delegates.

That is not good for the country at many different levels, it is time that we have a President that has the capability/capacity to reduce the polariaztion that we are experiencing.
