Both Billary and Hussain are bad for the USA. my message to both of them ...go home and live this country alone. God bless the USA

I think race shouldn't have a place in this election at all...but it appears that both sides are using race in their own way....Oprah saying we can make that dream possible now(or something to that effect)...what dream do you think she was referring to? I thought her speech was very MLK Also Obamas wife commenting on a little black girl from south side Chicago being the next First Lady....Bill Clinton isn't the only one using race.... We must hold all parties to the same standard...Don't get me wrong Clinton is wrong on this but Michelle Obama has played the race thing as well.

    • Posted By: paynepl @ 01/28/2008 6:59:59 PM

I would not consider espousing the ideals that MLK spoke of in his "I have a dream" speech as playing the race card.

What's up with this double standard that you have to be BLACK to talk about race? That's just ridiculous. This country has racial problems, in education, employment. housing, healthcare, etc. and these issues aren't just about the BLACK race.

Blacks play the race card as if only they "own" the race card.

        • Posted By: openMind342 @ 01/28/2008 5:52:37 PM

Where did I say that? I said drop the race issues as a NON-ISSUE. Vote for who you believe has your best interest at heart.

Following the way Bill Clinton has been campaigning for Hillary, I can't help it but think that he is running for a disguised third term. Shouldn't hillary rise up to the challenge herself to prove that a woman can win based on her nerrits?

    • Posted By: seegreen @ 01/27/2008 12:01:15 AM

Can't obama stop playing the race card every time his experience and record is being scrutinized?

  • Posted By: DrSerendipitous @ 01/27/2008 12:05:09 AM

The conventional wisdom is that Mr. Obama???s overwhelming win in South Carolina, where he won about 55% of the Democratic vote in the state with about 50% of Democrats being black, will help him.

Apparently, most black in South Carolina voted for Mr. Obama because of their racial pride, which of course they have the full right to exercise. Sadly, the fact of black solidarity behind their race has also released the demon of white race consciousness from its hibernation.

White can now openly reason that if black vote out of their racial pride then white can also, and the harder black try to support Mr. Obama, the more remote Mr. Obama???s chance to win the fall election if he were the Democratic nominee. America has indeed been pushed back to her former self.

It is likely that if Mr. McCain is the Republican nominee, a large number of Democrats, particularly in the South, will vote Republican this fall. There is a word for this type of victory Mr. Obama won: Pyrrhic victory.

    • Posted By: rlmoore68 @ 01/27/2008 12:27:51 AM

A 'Pyrrhic Victory' because a majority of the blacks voted for Obama and not Hillary.? Because a majority of the registered Demorcrats are black? How about stepping back from your 'better than you because I am not black ' stance and give credit where credit is due. Obama won based on the belief of the people of all races that he was the better canidate. Black people, inspite of the popular thought, are capable of voting individually for whomever they choose and are capable of making intelligent choices as to whom they believe to the best for job. In this case it was Barrack. Not because he is black, one need look no further than Iowa and its racial breakdown to understand that this is about more than race, sex or religion. This is about the future of this country and the person who is capable of bringing true political change to a system that has been dominated by the 'country club circuit' for way too long. It is time for all voice to heard and the message be sent this time around is 'change'. A change for the betterment of all in this country.

      • Posted By: Change is a verb not a platform @ 01/27/2008 1:35:02 AM

If Obama wins I might have to vote republican. That is what is so scary about this race.

        • Posted By: everettotis @ 01/27/2008 8:16:16 PM

Then vote Republican you was one in the first place we don't want you anyway you racist peple make me sick this is the 21sr century and you still can't grow up we Blacks are not going anywhere and we will let or voices be heard not becase he black but because we want change just like White and Latino America.

          • Posted By: Change is a verb not a platform @ 01/28/2008 6:22:44 PM

You do a disservice to your race when you spew hatred.

Are you really white pretending to be black with poor grammar and a black vernacular?

    • Posted By: maggie39 @ 01/27/2008 11:30:54 AM

Gene-dallas, texas-You are so right. What appears to be a solid victory as you say a "pyrrhic victory". If you apply those same percentages to the rest of the counry, Obama will lose and it will be big time.

      • Posted By: everettotis @ 01/27/2008 8:12:07 PM

What about Iowa now you make it a race thang and he still did good with the white vote i hate Stupid racist white people grow up and get a life this is the 21st century black people will not be disinfranchise anymore we finally have a viable Black canidate and all you see is a black man running for presidet instead of see a man running for President the happens to be Black. Thats the sad part i don't care if he was white or Mexican if he has a message that hit home i will vote for him man or woman. Stupid is what what stupis does that you are stupid.

  • Posted By: openMind342 @ 01/28/2008 5:39:51 PM

I guess it is actually simple, either believe Obama, or don't. Believe the Clintons, or don't. I feel Bill was one of the best presidents of all time, and one of the worst people. I believe Hillary could be a great president, while being one of the worst people. Obama may be a terrible president, but I believe he is a good person. Either believe that Kopechne's death was an accident that Kennedy couldn't prevent, or don't. None of these subjects have anything at all to do with race. Race is not an issue here, and shouldn't be an issue in any of this. I don't trust Clinton, I don't really trust Kennedy at all either, I do trust Obama to do his best to do what is right for this country, not just what is right for himself.

Go Hillary!! I'm tired of the media bashing Hillary and giving the inexperienced, empty suit Obama a free pass.

    • Posted By: everettotis @ 01/27/2008 7:45:02 PM

You are only voting for because she is a woman and giving Obama a free ride well with all the experence that Hillary has she should be able to handle the critics saying about her and not worry. Quit crying and take it like a woman she is going for the President of the United States she suppose to get that and whole lot more in my book again stop grying like most woman are doing saying they are ganging up on hillary.

      • Posted By: Change is a verb not a platform @ 01/28/2008 5:32:56 PM

The media has been extreemely bias thus far. But most seasoned journalist say they will drop OBAMA like a bad habit once Hillary is is the lead. MSNBC and CNN are just like FOX but on the opposite side. They all suck, and when the writiers strike is over their ratings will TANK.

  • Posted By: xyz223 @ 01/27/2008 10:11:06 AM

I am really sick of this double standard which praises Obama for attacking Clinton and criticises Clinton for attacking Obama!! Race is not the issue in this competition - gender is!
You really seem have a free pass on all behaviour as long you are a male.

    • Posted By: Change is a verb not a platform @ 01/28/2008 5:27:48 PM

Yes, as long as you are male. White males are more afraid of any woman, whether she is black, yellow, striped or white, then a black male. Many see their power reduced for the first time in their marriages, then many now have women bosses, so they are threatened in the workplace. They are afraid if a female is elected President they will loose their dominance and control.

  • Posted By: Change is a verb not a platform @ 01/28/2008 5:01:24 PM

    Questions:

If Mary Jo Kopechne, the woman that Kennedy left to die in his car submerge in water, was a BLACK woman would OBAMA have accepted Kennedy's endorsement???

If Ted Kennedy was a drunk black man who left Mary Jo Kopechne, a young white woman, to die in a car submerged in water, would Ted be a Senator or a prisoner???

Answer truthfully, take a moment to think about it, then tell me race doesn't matter.

The problem with this country is corporate greed . It knows no conscience. If we all Unite , will we not buy gasoline ? Refuse medical attention ? You may not like HRC, but she will be tenacious in going after the corporations that are running this country. I like Obama , maybe even as a future president. but The corporations will jusy yes him to death without any real change to our cost of living . He will unite us, but we will be united in poverty.

Richard, I am so sick of the media kissing Obama's butt. He's going to get KILLED in the general election by the far more experienced John McCain and all that talk of "hope" and "new ideas" (what new ideas, btw? Does anyone ask for specifics with this guy?) will be left by the wayside as he struggles to defend himself against the full-force of the GOP. The media are too in love with this guy to stop the suprulatives and ask the hard questions. This includes you, Richard.

Ted Kennedy, John Kerry, and Pat Leahy...all Washington DC establishment, all insiders, and all takers of lobbyists and PAC money. Why isn't the media asking if Obama hates DC and lobbyists so much why is he taking and trumpeting the support of these people?

No wonder this country is like it is until today ,they don't want to give women a chance to run this country ,because I belive a woman can do a better job than a man can,and they don't want that, and that's an example of the people that don't want that ,TED KENNEDY AND THAT LARGE FACE KERRY,in stead of supporting Hillary, they're supporting OSAMA or obama who is supporting a lider Muslim in Africa, those peple that mess this country up,by bringing terrorism in .I REALLY HOPE THAT ALL THOSE BLINDE PEOPLE OPEN THEY'RE EYES AND SEE WHO OSAMA REALLY IS , AND WHT IS GOING TO BRING TO THIS COUNTRY,IF NOBODY CAN SAY NOTHING TO BLACK PEOPLE RIGHT NOW WITHOUT MAMA CHICKEN COMING TO PROTECT THEIR CHICKS(sharpton and jackson)CAN YOU IMAGEN LATER? eagle-r: What is wrong with you? Have you ever walked past a school let a lone attended? Everytime that I start to believe that this country is at least trying to evolve regarding racism, some narrow minded obviousl,y inbreed red-neck like you comes along. Because you obviously haven't been paying attention, allow me to enlighten you. One of the reasons that Senator Clinton has lost a portion of the Black vote is because of all the negative personal mud slinging coming from her cam. I include myself in this because I really respect Senator Clinton and was equally torn beteen Senators Clinton and Senator Obama but to be honest I do not know of any emails sent out from Obama supporters questioning whether or not she is a terrorist, drug dealer etc. they have all come from Clinton supporters and Republicans. If I am wrong please correct me. I expect each of them to criticize each other's politics but it is not necessary for the attacks to become personal. I do not remember Presiddent Clinton engaging in mud slinging during his campaign and that was one of the reasons that I voted fro him. Why does it keep happening now, One more thing, There are certain types of EXTREMELY STUPID Americans "YOU" who believe that the only reason that Blacks will vote for Senator Obama is because he is also Black. What you fail to mention is that the man could walk on water and you still would not vote for him because he is Black.

How about we try to keep this civil.

with former president Clinton's own words, Mr. Obama has won, fair and square. keep up the fairness Mr. Obama

  • Posted By: ltrobinette418 @ 01/28/2008 12:19:11 AM

I agree with you that Hillary has many positive attributes. I also think President Clinton was a good president. Having said that, I support Obama for one overriding reason. I believe he is the only candidate who has identified the cause of the federal government to get anything of any substance done, and that is the preoccupation of most elected national officials with the political paradigm of the past.

I think, looking back on it with some perspective now, the Democratic party began to come apart when Lyndon Johnson, realizing he was unelectable in 1968, bowed out of the contest. This, coupled with Hubert Humphrey's defeat in 1968, created a vacuum that enabled the left-wing extremists of all stripes and all causes, led by George McGovern, to seize control of whatever was left of the party. Hence the Reagan revolution, following a miserable four years under Jimmy Carter, who certainly was a smart man but who never understood that it is the job of the President to LEAD; to INSPIRE the nation and the citizens.

And ever since, we've had so-called "gridlock."

At this point in history, this nation needs a leader, not a tactician with a strategist in the residence. I am 61, quarter-century in law enforcement, from a military family, son fought in Iraq in the 82nd Airborne Division of the United States Army. I've lived through a lot, and I know in my heart that Obama is the real deal and probably the only chance we get this time.

    • Posted By: Dr. Richard Trickle @ 01/28/2008 12:51:34 AM

I don't believe in supporting a political party solely out of long standing affiliation or loyalty and for purposes of whom I am intending to support in this election boils down to characteristics of the individual and what particular characteristics they bring to the White House.

When you say, "[A]t this point in history, this nation needs a leader, not a tactician with a strategist in the residence" it prompts me to ask, 'What qualities comprise a leader?' Leading a nation through inspiration demands more than a carnival barker. Someone has to be instrumental in thinking through policies, not just espousing an ideal without demonstrating the ability or propensity of thinking things through. But inspirational thoughts aside, I think Hillary is a great opportunity to hopefully condition our country to begin looking at women in THE leadership role within the White House.

While I'm not 61, I'm not far behind. I'm a former Marine, my father fought in WWII and Korea, my brother-in-law in Vietnam.... but this doesn't really add anything to change the substance of what I've previously written. My logic either stands on its own or it doesn't. My heart tells me differently about Obama and what is motiviating his supporters to vote in his favor. Unity may be Obama's theme, but what concerns me is that large numbers of Obama's supporters are motivated STRICTLY on the basis of his race. Res Ipsa Loquitor.

      • Posted By: ltrobinette418 @ 01/28/2008 1:03:06 AM

Well, race isn't a factor for me. Even if it was, I am white. I'm also pretty conservative when it comes to presidential elections, even though I'm a lifelong registered Democrat from Florida. My voting record for president (I was first allowed to vote in 1968) is Nixon, Nixon, Ford, Reagan, Bush 41, Bush 41, Clinton, and Bush 43, Kerry. Seven Republicans, two Democrats.

I respect your opinions, sir. I just disagree, for the reasons previously stated.

Comment: White oppression continues to this day, just as our forefathers, mothers, brothers, and sisters were when they were ripped from the bosum of our culture. We, solely, my fellow African kings and queens built this nation but have not shared in its wealth. Obama represents an opportunity to right wrongs, distribute wealth fairly, and make reperations from the heirs of slave owners to the only heirs of the people who were forced to build this country. To characterize the honorable Ms. Michelle Obama, it is time to take care of one own's house.

    • Posted By: openMind342 @ 01/28/2008 1:09:43 PM

Your post is not the unity and crossing definitions of culture and race that Mr. Obama is running on. I believe in his vision of uniting, and moving FORWARD, NOT BACK. I believe it can be done, but not when continued division, by race, is propagated as the underlying platform. That is NOT change. It is not where he stands, and as a people who truly want change, should not be your platform either.

    • Posted By: openMind342 @ 01/28/2008 1:03:10 PM

Unfortunately, comments like this are going to hurt his run. I don't owe you anything. You were not the one slaved. I was not the one who slaved your ancestors. The current government was not the one either. Reparation to you because of countless horrible crimes 150 years ago does not entitle you to more or less of the wealth. Only you can raise yourself up. Your comment, about the possibility of reparations are going to scare the voters away. It will not happen. Get your education, earn your own way just like the other 99% of all of us working poor. Hope for the best, work hard, and make your own future.

  • Posted By: ndolan622 @ 01/27/2008 10:00:29 PM

This is not about race - but very much about the past vs. the future. We can respect the past, but it is indeed time to move on. Obama won with his positive message of hope for the future, he inspired the young voters to get out and get involved, and he does indeed have a good set of ideas on economic stimulus, taxes and the economy, education, etc. That's why he won. The anger came from what the voters saw the Clinton's doing - and it turned them off. Obama proved to them that this is not race against race, poor against rich or young against old. This is OUR future he talked about...OURS, not the Clintons!

    • Posted By: emmarcee @ 01/28/2008 12:11:51 PM

I am just wondering. When blacks of South Carolina got racially provoked and voted for Obama, who is a fake black man with a real black wife, how did it become "not about the race".? I would have said that if it happened some other way. If you say this 100 times, it does not wash away the truth.

  • Posted By: ltrobinette418 @ 01/27/2008 11:04:03 PM

I've been watching politics for over 40 years now. Barack Obama is, to my eyes, the best presidential candidate to come along since Jack Kennedy. Let's not forget that JFK was too young, too inexperienced, and was a Roman Catholic. Who in their right mind would vote for HIM?

    • Posted By: amurcia @ 01/28/2008 12:22:55 AM

WOMEN! It is a fact he won by narrow line and most of the voters were women. In the history books

If you are middle class and think you are getting screwed by Bush just wait til Hillary gets in office and starts giving it away to all those folks who think having kids is the way to earn a living. When you are required to pay for health care you can't afford because she takes your tax dollars to pay for groceries, health care and schooling for the 5 kids of some unmarried white trailer trash woman living with her unemployable tweeker boyfriend

  • Posted By: johnfdurham @ 01/28/2008 3:48:38 AM

I'm a Democrat, I have never voted Republican, but if Hillary wins the Dem nomination I will vote either Republican or independent. I live in Florida, was a non-affiliated registered voter and switched to the Democratic party in order to be able to vote against Clinton in the primaries. She should be ashamed of not caring about how her behaviour affects our party as a whole. She is willing to destroy our chance at fixing this country if she doesn't win. If she doesn't play, nobody plays! Go away.

THE CLINTON"S ARE JUST TO polarizing. Too many scandals, to many investigations. I do not believe they are guilty in all those scandals I just believe AMERICA needs a change from the establishment. We do not need a years worth of divisive campaigning. IT would be amazing to see McCain vs OBAMA. A GOOD CLEAN HEAVY WEIGHT FIGHT. NO ONE GETS THEIR EAR BIT OFF. A ROMNEY CAMpaign would be just like BUSH'S very divisive and full of lies. IF AMERICA CHOOSES THESE TWO CANDIDATES to represent their respective parties then I think the AMERICAN political process can begin to heal and set an example to the rest of the world. WHAT KIND OF MESSAGE ARE WE SENDING IRAQIS and AFGHANS. IF we promote racial divide why shoud they give us the benefit of the doubt concerning ABU GRADE and BLACK WATER. ARE WE REALLY RACIST CAN IT BE THAT THE CLINTON"S ARE A REFLECTION OF OUR SOCIETY. DIVIDE people so we the CLINTON'S can attain the power we are entitled too and so rightfully deserve after my conduct in the OVAL OFFICE. No one else is capable of being president. I will become nasty and play the race card because the "MEDIA" is trying to take away the presidency from me and my wife.
