Following the way Bill Clinton has been campaigning for Hillary, I can't help it but think that he is running for a disguised third term. Shouldn't hillary rise up to the challenge herself to prove that a woman can win based on her nerrits?

Based on the upcoming retirement of the Baby Boom Generation it is time for American to pass the baton to fresh leadership; to the next generation. The Baby Boom Generation has given us many successes as a Nation, however, too it has given us many defeats such as less respect in the World, a level of morality that is bringing about a City of Atlantis type demise to be carried out by Generation X'ers and beyond, and have taken the dollar and politics to a new low. It has been and continues to be the Baby Boom Generation that taunts us with race and gender, the very two things they have used continuously to divide this great Nation. Unfortunately, a Clinton presidency, and soley due to Bill Clinton, would move us backwards instead of forward. We would return to the politics of revenge, for he has not forgotten those who tried to take him down. And Republicans would not join to support Hillary because of Bill. BOGO (Buy One Get One) free is not always a good thing. An Obama-Edwards ticket is the future. It's a sure thing for capturing all demographics...male, female, red, brown, yellow, black, white, young and old. That ticket is gold.
see, thats why you fail the american people when you speak, you think its all about power, I do not want any president who is going to be as you state, IN POWER, the reason I vote for Ron Paul is because he is talking about making sure that the power remains with the people, and he talks about it, and I have never herd ANY other candidate talk about this power being given back to the people. their only talking about stimulants, if you truly knew what they were doing with a stimulant for the economy, you wouldnt vote for them.Do some research for yourself., there are a lot more than just the clintons that need thrown out of office for violating their oath of office, DO SOME RESEARCH

It is amazing how some people forget about the "Clintons". Bill was the last president to get impeached! When he was governor he was believed to be part of cocaine smuggling ring and later pardoned his friend who was convicted of cocaine smuggling. He is an emberassment to our party and if you can't stand for change don't vote for McCain and be a turncoat. These are not the 60's anymore. I know that some of you can't fathom to see a black man in power, but times are changing and you need to get over your bigotry and rally around our party. Democrats are coming out in record numbers to support this man. This is not a fluke. More people voted for Barack in South Carolina than all the people who voted in the primaries in 2004. Even Senator Clinton said he would make a good vice president candidate now that he has a legitimate chance at winning, she doesn't feel that way anymore.

I believe as medium Newsweek will keep it sobjective stand. So please post my opinion. Thank you!
Believe me HILLARY will fight back! She is still the leader in national polls! CNN is biased and favors Obama that is why I watch MSNBC. The campaign has just begun for her and she will definitely fight back!
HILLARY is the only one who can save us from the economic mess, she is the most experienced and she is ready on Day 1. She is the only candidate who can defeat the Republicans! GO HILLARY FOR 2008!
Yes Hillary is the one who can drive these Republicans away from the White House but chameleon Republican media machines are doing everything they can to destroy her! And they are using OBAMA right now! I hope majority of the Americans realiza this!
I think we all know that Hillary and Bill can fight. But do they fight the RIGHT battles? Why didn't she fight Bush on the war and refuse to go along with the other Senators who gave him carte blanche to invade a soverign country that never attacked us.
As far as her "experience," I'm not sure what experience you mean. Senator Obama has more time in the Illinois Senate than Hillary has in the US Senate, so HE is the one with the most legislative experience. As for other experience, maybe she's talking about the former president. Who's running anyway. Her or Bill? They made a law about third terms for a reason. We don't need 16 years of Clinton anymore than we needed the 12 years of Bush!
Do you get that we want REAL change? Change is more than a word. We want to get rid of her lobbyist friends. We want a new transparency in government that neither the Bush nor the Clinton administration allowed us. Most of all, we demand HONESTY. We need to be able to believe our president, and I'm sorry.
The Clintons just don't rate real high on that score.
And what had Obama done in the Illinois Senate? Almost nothing! And records don't lie!
Dream on
I am also an independent. I also hold the same idea, that If the person I support couldn't won, I will go to vote different party, for me it will be McCain. This decision was made at the moment I heard Mr. Obama's wife said to her fellow man: "It's our time!" If she can campaign for her husband, why Mr. Cliton couldn't campaign for his wife? Though I agree it's better for him to be back up, I didn't see the big issue here, since we Americans keep a basic value, that is using the same criterion to treat EVERYBODY. When I recall the debate what I remembered is Senetor Obama launched attack first. Though Hillary shouldn't stop him in the middle, she was in the defence position. When you judge a historical figure please don't forget what is important. With your fair heart heart to see the fact, that you will remember in our near history there once had a time we paid off all the debt as a country! Now I understand why somebody killed JFK, since he was lust, maybe. And this not only infact he himself, also brought "punishment" to Bobby too. Suddenly I remembered a great man Jean J. Rousseau wrote in his Biography: ???Who can stand in front of me and say: ???I am better than you???!??? I respect Mr. Clinton not since he is perfect, but since he is strong enough survived all kinds of political attacks. As a man he unfortunately also has God giving weakness, but he showed his tremendous courage and continually make his contribution to this great country, to the world. Reading his book ???Giving??? you???ll think except president Carter no any former presidents did as much as he done. He and his work have earned respect for this great country! We are Christians; We know how to give people second chances. Hillary Clinton also earned people???s respect in that political attack. She bravely protected her child and family, use her faith and love backed up a man she loves. In fact this is one of the reasons I want to vote for her: The strong family value and the faith for love is the thing we earnestly need in this country now! I can???t understand since when our individualist American started picking up that old ???Implication??? policy?! I still want to judge everybody including Hillary only by his/her OWN behavior, (not skin either.) A woman who has been struggling to do right thing since she was 27 years old definitely deserves us to treat her with fairness and equality, but not with any kind of prejudice. Same logic, the saying of ???the two families??? shouldn???t become the base of our judgment. Inspiration is good, but it is not the all. We need more than that. We need use not only our heart, but also our mind to make decision: Who is good for our country.
REMEMBER WHITEWATER...MONICA. AND COUNTLESS OTHER WOMEN...REMEMBER THEIR FRIENDS WHO WENT TO JAIL FOR THEM. THE CLINTONS ARE CRIMINALS AND SHOULD BE BEHIND BARS NOT RUNNING FOR PRESIDENT.
Sen Obama demonstrated his electability among any line you may bring up. He can win on the south side of America. He is an American with sound judgement, integrity, and moral courage!
He beat two Sen McCains and one half of Hunter in South Carolina. As for the Dems, he doubled Sen Clinton plus 12,866 additional voters. That's a 55 Gallon Can of worst kind. By the way, Kudos to Sen John Edwards.
Obama 08!
One fact is that two Sen McCains and a half of Hunter did not beat Sen Barack Obama in South Carolina.
And what about the Dems candidates:
Obama 295,091
Clinton 141,128
= Double + 12,866 additional votes
I wanted Sen John Edwards to finish second, but 1 out of 2 wins...not bad.
Independent with support for Obama 08!
comment: I am also an independent. What I saw is that during the debate Mr. Obama launched attack first. My dicision is the same: If the person I support couldn't won, I will go to vote John McCain. This decission was made at the moment when I heard Senetor Obama's wife said to her fellow man: "It's our time!"; It was made at the moment when I heard Obama said to his surporters: "Do you want Ophra be your vice
president?" (Though I love Ophra very much.) As a good politician he is smart enough to humor it away by going to diliver "the top ten", it do show his original. Can he really hold the country together, or he just work for some of us? I know you could say "it's nothing wrong". Then follow the same logic, if his wife can campaign for him, why her husband couldn't campaign for her? ( In fact I agree it's better that Mr. Cliton step back.) Here the point is we should use the same criterion to treat EVERYBODY. Insparition is good, but it's not the all we need. When we think about who is good for our country, taking this as the only criterion, we should not let some saying, like "the two politacal families", become the issue on the table.
I'm with Ms Lillie James also. The Clintons make the American political process embarrassing. Americans want leaders, not monarchies. The reign of the Bush's is coming to a close - lets not have a coronation next January 2009. Let us have a celebration of Americas' triumph over the last 16 years of irresponsibility; both our last two presidents showed moral flaws - one giving in to greed, the other to lust. Both have left lasting stains on the fabric of this great country.
I'm with Ms. Lillie James. If I wanted more ugliness and divisivenss, I'd vote for one of the Republicans--that's THEIR game. Bill Clinton did not indulge in this behavior when he ran for president the first two times, and that's why he won. I think the Clintons are harming their candidacy and the Democratic party with their out-of-the-Karl-Rove's-playbook hi-jinks this time around. I have some reservations about Obama but I'm absolutely convinced that the Clintons candidacy is a disaster for this country. Aside from the harm the tone of their campaign does, John McCain could beat them in a walk and then we WOULD be n the soup.
To toolkit:
What you say has truth; however, Obama has significant bipartisan appeal and he's a less polarizing figure than Clinton. Republicans will as a matter of principle stonewall Clinton legislation, whereas I can see them giving Obama a fair shake. Besides, you're being too high-minded; politics has always been and will always be at its core a beauty contest. Obama makes people feel good, Hillary reminds people of a nagging mother. It's really quite simple.
I am thrillled that Obama won!!! I think that it is so unfair that a former President is slinging mud at Obama and has an advantage in order to get his wife elected. I think Bill Clinton should be stopped once and for all.
Patrinka, I think you forget that Sen. Obama will never get the democratic nomination. Although the irresponsible journalist and the media has made him a Messiah. Let's judge the candidates on their merits and accomplishments and not promises alone. We have a first hand knowledge of what happens when we elect inexperienced president, like George Bush. Do we want to repeat the same mistake? What has Obama done for the black community or the general population to get the title of "CHANGE"? No doubt he is a very good speaker and I love them but that is not what we are electing the president. What is Michelle Obama doing for her husband? If Hillary's husband outshines Michelle Obama then who's fault is it. Obama played the race card to gain votes from the black community. Now he is using his White mother's advertisement to gain support from the white community. He talks about lobbyist, doesn't he take money from the lobbyist? He is nothing different from other politicians and hence not worthy of becoming democratic nominee.
What has Barack done the black community? He worked for years as a community organizer in the south side of Chicago.
What is Michelle Obama doing for her husband? She regularly campaigns for Obama and is in fact known as the Closer. But please don't act as if her words carry the same weight, or receive the same coverage as a former president.
Obama has worked on bills for campaign finance reform.
In my opinion Obama has clearly shown he has much better judgement that Bush. Dispite Bush's governing experience in Texas, he has made bad decision after bad decision in the White House.
Obama appeals to people of all races, ages, and gender, as evidenced by his wins in Iowa and South Carolina. More importantly he is less partisan and devisive than Hillary Clinton, he can reach across the aisle, bring people together to make the changes that will improve our lives.
YES WE CAN!
I'm an Independent but I've been leaning strongly towards the Democrats (to say Bush has made me disenchanted with Republicans is a vast understatement). But after the mud-slinging and word-twisting and dirty tactics I've seen from the Clintons these past few weeks, let me just say this: If Hillary wins the Democratic nomination, I'll vote Republican. That's how disgusted I am.
I voted for Clinton in 1996 in my very first election. I loved him so much that I cried in my dorm room when he finally admitted he'd lied to us. And even this summer past in Iowa, I was excited to get to shake his hand. In recent months, I have seen a different man than the one I thought I loved. Quite disappointingly, I fear this is the real man. I would not take back my vote in 96, because of the alternative. But I hereby take back all my defenses of him. And I take back the shaking of his hand on July 4. If I saw him now, I'd totally end up getting tased, bro.
Obama reminds me of a southern preacher, even the way he said "haaaaave" tonight sounded exactly like Martin Luther King in his "I have a dream" speech.. Take a listen if you get the chance. The crowd chanted in unison to his halting lines as if they were in a southern Baptist church. It was very uncomfortable to watch and made me feel great distance from the whole crowd and Obama. I was the outsider. I was not chanting. I don't believe in Obama that way.
I agree with you. "yes, we can"??? haha, this is a great fairy-tale with only shouting "we can".

Obama has a 100% rating from Americans United for Separation of Church and State. You don't need to be alarmed if he sounds like a preacher during his speeches. He talks about his religion, but does not legislate it. And he's said better things about nonbelievers than anyone else running for either party's ticket.
I was just stating a comment not looking to be saved---but I do think that style resonates with the southern blacks.
The fact is that this forum is really a waste of time. I hope you all vote for the candidate that most closely shares your ideals and positions. Whoever wins, wins and in four years we do it again.
