Hey LDS guys-Hows that DNA testing of Native Americans coming along? And how many dead JEWS have ya'll baptized lately? I know you want a relationship with GOD. Well, get your head out of the sand and leave this perversion of the truth. JOE SMITH and his "angels of light" have deceived you.

HollyRoller: You are 100% correct. Mormon's do not believe in the same Jesus Christ as you do, becuase the Jesus Christ that the Mormon's profess to believe in teaches to be kind and loving to others and to have charity. Your comments are appear to be motivated by hate and anger which are both contrary to the teachings of the Jesus Christ that the Mormon's seek to follow.

mormonism a secret society is laden with diabolical rituals akin to the Masons. their "front" is a peace loving, family conscious, jesus obeying presentation. but thats the "hook". any religious "movement" based on a mysterious angel appearing to u in the woods and giving u orders is more than suspect.
whats with the character moroni? whats with the holy underwear? whats with blacks being the scourge of the earth and not acceptable for priesthood until the late 70's? how could a God inspired movement be steeped in racist practices? didnt the "prophets" know God was against the de-humanization of your fellow man?

    • Posted By: BryceO @ 01/30/2008 2:36:20 PM

Huh, a movement based on a mysterious angel.......lets see.....moses said he saw God in a burning bush...........Paul said Christ appeared to him on the road to damascus..........Noah built a boat when it wasn't raining cause he said God told him to........John prophesied in Rev. 14:16, "And I saw another angel fly in the midst of heaven, having the everlasting gospel to preach unto them that dwell on the earth, and to every enation, and kindred, and tongue, and people," Well I believe that God is the same yesterday, today and for ever. ( see Hebrews 13:8) I guess it is pretty crazy to believe in angels. I mean the prophets in the Bible saw them. But I guess they can't come in our day. Who is anyone to tell God what he can and can't do? Ask him for yourself.

If you want to know about shoes, you ask the shoe maker, right? Please, do a little more of reseach, but not in non LDS books: those will always lie about LDS people. I invite you to visit our congregations and read our literature, and then make your own conclusions. It is so easy to badmouth a person or an organization, but it takes time (which seemingly you don't have) and insight to search for the truth. Please, don't ashame yourself by making this huge display of ignorance. Research.

I agree, very few people in this world who are in the media and are respected as world leaders consider Gordon B. Hinckley to be one of the most influential people they have ever met. Ask Mike Wallace, Larry King, Brian Williams, and many others. Consider the people who post on here who are critical of this man and the Church he led to be uninformed about the current status of the church and I invite all to find out for themselves what the church stands for and not just ask their pastor.

I noticed you criticized Benson for supporting the JOHN BIRCH SOCIETY. BUT you never criticized him. Benson doctrine is what the MAJORITY of Mormons live by. I would like to see you go to your church and criticize Benson. As mentioned I back my statements up with facts.
There are many reasons Mormons will not come forth even though they know of the corruption in the Mormon church. One is due to their belief in Mormon scripture which they associate with the Mormon church. The leadership has usurped power and authority over this scripture. Thus, the members of the Mormon church think that God expects them to support their misguided leaders. This is much the - rationalization that many Americans make about our government. They all know of the corruption, but rationalize that it is unpatriotic to talk against the government or ungrateful to complain when they enjoy superficial prosperity."

As a lifetime Mormon, I can say this was a pretty accurate and insightful article. It brought up some interesting issues that I am sure church leaders are pondering. However, in the discussion of race, it did not mention Hispanics that have been ordained to the Presidency of the Seventy (immediately "below" the 12 apostles, if you can impose a hierarchy on church structure). I don't think most Mormons are waiting on the edge of their seats to see if a black or Hispanic apostle will be named. Personally, I think it will probably happen sooner rather than later.

Christ said (referring to false Prophets who shall come)..."ye shall know them by their fruits". Do they bring forth thorns or fruit? Figs or thistles? Take a GOOD look at the lives of these ???modern-day Prophets???...Joseph Smith, Brigham Young...and now Gordon B. Hinckley and Thomas S. Monson...do they measure up? Take a REALLY good look and I think you will draw your own conclusion...are they human...sure! Are they Prophets...well Christ set the standard...it's his admonition we should be listening to...take a GOOD look...do your research...listen to them...watch footage of them speak...pray about it...God will certainly hold true to His promise that he will "give (answers) to all men liberally, and upbraideth not...it shall be given him" (James 1:5).
No Christian will support the notion that God will refuses to answer the prayers of the honest truth seeker.....find out FOR YOURSELF, independent of ANYONE ELSE weather God has appointed a Prophet in these last days. It's easy to criticize; we need not look further than the Pharisees and the Sadducees to see how much criticism accomplishes. But to open our hearts to what the Lord alone wants and to furthermore follow his council...that takes real courage.
Ask about these men...really ask???will God leave you answerless?

If you ask in faith, I know He will not.

Wow. There are still alot of far-out ideas about what Mormons believe, reflected in the posts on this article. Pres Hinckley did alot to help the Mormon church emerge from obscurity and begin to help the world at large understand their beliefs, values, and traditions. He was ver talented at expressing the unique beliefs of Mormonism while building bridges of respect between it and other faiths. There is still alot more to be done. Mormons don't believe that the USA should be destroyed (there may be no other more patriotic religion) and they do not think Quakers lived on the moon and lived for a thousand years (where do people get this stuff???). There are many misconceptions, and the best way to cut through them is to ask a Mormon firend or neighbor. I hope Pres. Monson continues to be open and welcoming to people of all faiths as Pres. Hinckley was.

Its from your own shameful history....most from prophets speaking..promoting a con on people and fear if they cross the line and dare suggest that its all a lie...

      • Posted By: chrislow1820 @ 01/29/2008 6:52:36 PM

If anything's shameful, it's the hatred some have for another's religious beliefs, all while claiming to be a Christian. It's a hypocrisy that I can't understand. How can someone post hateful, false accusations about the Mormons here, yet claim to subscribe to the teaching of "love your fellow man"? Sir, you may claim the corner on the market of what you think is real Christianity, but your actions and hatred speak differently.

Have they not taught you your great Brigham Youngs revelation about the "Quakers living on the moon?" Must have changed that doctrine also.

There needs to be a correction on how the succession of the President of the Church happens. When the president of the church dies the first presidency instintaniously desolves and the President of the Quorum of Twelve Apostles becomes the new leader of the church. When they meet the reform the First Presidency and the President of the Twelve becomes the president of the Church. No vote takes place there is no ambiguity in who the successor will be. Once Thomas Monson reforms the first presidency Boyd Packer will become the president of the twelve and the successor to Thomas Monson. The only way Boyd Packard will not be the successor is if he dies before Thomas. Just want to make that clearification.

Mormons redefine Jesus....to be a created being...not a self existed one as bible does therefore mormonism is not in line with traditional core beliefs of christian faith. Mormon salvation is based not on what Jesus did but what the mormon can do so there is never a clear line of demarcation to validate ones salvation where as in bible Jesus said come to me and you have eternal life for free.

Hinckley was a "false prophet." And Monson will be another "false prophet."

On the stump at a Texaco in Florida, Mitt Romney took time out to briefly eulogize Hinckley.
    Bishop Romney admiringly opined:

He had a great capacity and great ability to reach out and touch a large number of people with a very personal and human connection . . . His humanity and gentleness will always be part of the memory we have."
So just who is Gordon B.Hinckley?

Some vocal ???ex-mos??? (Ex-Mormons) are only too willing to share their insights on the ???prophet??? who led the LDS faith for several decades.
To be sure, millions of Mormons believe ProphetHinckley has gone on to his eternal reward (first on the planet Kolob from the Heavenly Father and Joseph Smith, and then to oversee as a god a world of his own).

While Biblical Christians will be reluctant to judge ??? as such is a function of the one, eternal, true and living God ???Hinckley left behind a fair body of evidence that he was nothing more than a slippery heretic bent on expanding the power and influence of the LDS ???cult.???

Hinkley was an LDS leader during some of its most vile racist times, yet tried to cover up the sordid truth in ???latter days.???

Hinkley was a busy as a bee in selectively teaching heretical doctrines, such as the odd LDS belief of eternal progression to godhood .

Hinkley continued the traditional LDS teaching that women are ???possessions??? that belonged to their eternal husbands.

"Husbands, love and treasure your wives. They are your most precious possessions.
    ???Gordon B.Hinckley

"My brethren, you will never have in all of your lives a greater asset than the woman into whose eyes you looked as you joined hands over the altar in the house of the Lord. She will be your most precious possession in time or eternity. "
    ??? Gordon B. Hinckley

Hinckley obfuscated on the polygamous past of the LDS cult and misrepresented the rift over it with modern polygamous LDS fundamentalists.

Hinckley preferred the bizarre musings of Joseph Smith to the historic confessions of faith of the Church and (more importantly) the teachings of the Holy Bible:

"When the emperor Constantine was converted to Christianity, he became aware of the divisiveness among the clergy concerning the nature of Deity. In an attempt to overcome this he gathered the eminent divines of the day to Nicaea in the year 325. Each participant was given opportunity to state his views. The argument only grew more heated. When a definition could not be reached, a compromise was made. It came to be known as the Nicene Creed, and its basic elements are recited by most of the Christian faithful. "Personally I cannot understand it. To me the creed is confusing

"How deeply grateful I am that we of this Church do not rely on any man-made statement concerning the nature of Deity. Our knowledge comes directly from the personal experience of Joseph Smith . . . .

    ??? Gordon B.Hinckley

You have been scrutinizing my church and my beliefs through the medium of hate and predjudice. I can't blame you. The origin of the restoration of the Church of Jusus Christ is a little out of the ordinary, and unfortunatly you ahve been trained by your preachers, and spiritual leaders to hate something that is good and right, becasue they fear that their own professions, and reputations as spiritual authorities are in jeopordy. If all of the money and time that are spent in deveoping, publishing, training people to distribute and advocate against my church were to be redirected to humanitarian efforts that my church rigorously persues on an international level, then we wouldn't be even having this conversation. We would be brothers and sisters in a common cause. Serving our Lord Jesus Christ by helping the less fortunate and those in need without regard to race, religion, or background. My question for you is, will you take my challenge to lay aside your holy war to smear my beliefs, and turn your energy to serving the Lord? I hope so for all our sakes.

You obviously are somewhat intelligent. Why would you allow a group of liars and profits warp your sense of reason. The cult of mormon contain very few truths. Joe Smith w/the help of "an angel of light" created the biggest tool to pervert the Gospel of Jesus Christ since mohammed.

    • Posted By: HolyRoller @ 01/29/2008 6:53:14 PM

Very insightful post. You gave quite a few facts about our mormon friends cult. I firmly believe they are the fulfillment of the serpents words in the Garden. "You shall not surely die...You shall become as gods." This lie is the basis for the cult.

As a Mormon, your article was very fair and mostly accurate. The think you miss however, is that the Quroum of the Twelve does not choose a new apostle based on how it might impact the diversity or the cultural balance of the church... These leaders choose a new apostle by praying about it and casting lots just like the new Testament Apostles did when Judas was replaced. The leadership is devinely chosen and not selected by man.

DNA evidence can be used to prove that the Jews did not come over to cental america aroudn Jesus time ...another lie disproven ....
The real problem of Mormonism is its credibility rises or falls with one person and That is not a good position to be in. If he J Smith was lying then you are all wrong and believe in vain and should be pitied above all men. He was known as a treasure seeker and was arrested in NY for deceiving people out of their money for treasure seeking. But in US any religion can be propagated no matter how shaky its foundation. It is a lie.

Does Mitt Romney or the new prophet think mormons still believe USA should be destroyed as mormons did in years past ? Was it politically expediate to accept black in 1978 werent they always considered cursed as under the curse of Ham ?

Google "Elise Soukup". This author is a Mormon and, as expected, writes only the positives about the LDS church which is easy to do for any religion especially if you are a member and careful enough to carve out inconvenient truths such as the Mountain Meadow Massacre. Although Joseph Smith is called a martyr, he died with a pistol in his hand, something reminiscent of Islamic ???martyrs???. Unlike Jesus who died with no sword or club in his hand, Joseph Smith and his trail of followers make no apology for the violent expansion of its religion and clashes with the US government in the 1830s. The reader is encouraged to look up secular historical authors on this religion that are surer to be unbiased and shed truth on a religion based on sweeping its issues under the rug. For more information on the negatives, Google the following: ???Mountain Meadow Massacre???, ???Joseph Smith???, ???Mormon Militia???, and the scandal behind the ???Book of Abraham???.

And when the mob came to take Jesus away, Peter drew a sword and smote off the ear of the servent of the High Priest. People do rash things when the lives of their loved ones are threatened--in Joseph's case, his brother Hyrum and his close friends were beset by mobbed gunmen. Sadly, his brother also died that day despite anything the prophet could do. Lest we forget, the mob violence in Missouri was directly related to the Saints' antipathy toward slavery. With their large population, they could have swung the vote in Missouri against slavery and Missouri might have been on the other side in the civil war.

Ask a Mormon the tenants of their belief, and based on whom they are talking/responding to, will obfuscate the truth of what they really believe. Mormons do read the bible on occasion; however what Coupe0024 will not tell you is the King James version they read has been ???fixed??? or rewritten by Joseph Smith. God???s book was apparently full of errors, So JS took it upon himself to correct it.

In my experience, Mormons are generally good people, but they feel it is OK to put a spin on their tenants rather than appear ???weird???. I would suggest to them to be proud of their beliefs ???as strange as they may be.

    • Posted By: AH1986 @ 01/29/2008 4:30:30 PM

Hey, I'm not sure if you realize this, but the Bible didn't decend from heaven to land in Constantines lap. It is a compilation of the records of Christ and his desciples. There were many books that were edited by men who were not called of God to do so, therefore human error was in their part. Should I mention the fact that many many writings and accounts that couldve been included weren't becasue they went against what the common belief of the time was? All I can say is dwindle in self rightousness and ignorance if you want to, but as for me I choose the Lord.

    • Posted By: mlfurm @ 01/28/2008 6:10:09 PM

Again Zigzig you are making comments that are half-truths (ask yourself where that technique comes from) when speaking of the LDS Church. While it is true that Joseph Smith through divine revelation rewrote small portions of the New Testament to correct errors in translation they are not rewritten in the King James version we read. They are merely clifnotes, referenced to at the bottom of the page. And you know that. If the Mormons are as wrong as you seem to believe why would you have to misrepresent things in your statements about them?

  • Posted By: oajjf @ 01/28/2008 4:12:52 PM

Mormons are christians if you were not aware. And whats all of this 'Difficulties Ahead' stuff? There is no such thing in this church. Everything is too inspirationally organized. And , a prophets job is to receive revelation and direct the church only as the Lord commands.

    • Posted By: HolyRoller @ 01/28/2008 5:06:01 PM

Mormons are NOT CHRISTIAN. Scientology has more truth to it than mormonism.

      • Posted By: historybrat @ 01/29/2008 11:27:50 AM

How are we defining Christianity? I'm not here to bash Mormonism, I am good friends with many Mormons, and grew up in a Mormon household, but I do have to question what definition of Christianity you are subscribing to. My understanding is that Christianity is a monotheistic religion, that the trinity is in fact on God with three natures. My understanding of Mormonism is that if you try hard enough you can become a god yourself. As I understand it Mormons only worship one god, but believe that there are more gods out there, therefore its not Christian. Again not here to bash Mormonism but lets be honest about what it is and what it is not.

        • Posted By: tehanismom @ 01/29/2008 4:27:13 PM

yes we are christians. We believe God the Father, His son Jesus Christ, and in the Holy Ghost. Christianity is the belief in Christ and practicing of His teachings. We believe God loves his children and prepared a way that they might live with him again. Jesus Christ payed the ultimate price for us and by doing so made it possible for us to return to live with our Father in Heaven again one day. We believe to live with God, is to be like him. If we are faithful in keeping all of his commandments, and endure to the very end, we will be blessed to live with him.

How long you been practicing your little speech HolyRoller? You know absolutely nothing.

You're making up propaganda to make yourself seem brilliant. I'm not sure where you get your facts, but we are never taught all other churches are of the Devil. We believe all other churches contain fragments of the truth but not the whole. Never ever ever have we as a whole said anything in the bible is fake, made up, untrue, etc. The majority of anything that does not make sense in the bible is accidents in the translation of the bible - and there are many. Honestly, I don't know why you came here and posted this right after the death of a great man who has contributed far more to this world than you and your little world domination conspiracy posts.

Why? Because his preacher's told him lies and stirred him to consume himself with hate. One day he'll stand before God like all of us will. All the things he's said, done, not done, and thought will all come rushing back. He'll recount how he discreditted great men, their histories of service, their families, and most imporatantly, the callings that they held in this life. Really I feel sorry for him. EVERYONE. aLL i CAN SAY FOR HOLY ROLLER,IS FORGIVE HIM, FOR HE KNOWS NOT WHAT DOES.

People in Christ's time thought his followers belonged to a sect, and everywhere it was spoken against. Regarding eternal progression read: Ps 82:6; Matt 5:48; John 10:34; Acts 17:29; Rom 8:17; Gal 4:7; Eph 4:13.
