Comment: The fact is Rudy was a joke. Was being the key word he is done. He was a oppurtunist that obviously did a crappy job of running a city, otherwise there would have been better communication on Sep 11, and that is all he is running on. The fact that he was mayor of a city that was attacked. Some people will do anything to get some power.

Comment: I think it is a shame. Rudolph Giuliani was the best candidate.

Comment: Stick a fork in Giuliani, he's DONE!!

Comment: Who is the best candidate? I cannot understand mainstream GOP opposition to Mitt Romney. He has an MBA and a law degree from Harvard, he has proven his abilities in business, he turned the Utah Olympics from a disaster into a hugely profitable enterprise for Utah, he has been elected Governor of a strongly Democratic state, he enacted a major healthcare initiative in MA (which seems to be doing well, whether or not it is the final answer to healthcare problems), and he not only proclaims but actually "lives" the values most Republicans say they value. Why the opposition? Mormonism? Whatever the origins of any religion, the proof is what they believe and how they behave, and Mormons in my experience are every bit as Christian as any other Christian group. We are not electing a Bishop or a Pastor. We are not choosing a Black, a woman, a Mormon, a Catholic, a Muslim, a Jew, or a Bhuddist! We want the best "PERSON" for the job. Mitt Romney has proven his ability to lead, to govern, to innovate, and to administrate. Perhaps he is more moderate than the party would like, but moderates are finally standing up to the extremists in both parties, and I think it will take a moderate Republican to have any chance of beating a moderate Democrat this November. Mitt is that "Moderate Republican" !!!

Comment: The Democratic biased media wants to kill the Giuliani run because he is the riskiest candidate for either Obama or Clinton to face. A true moderate with credible national security experience is much more attractive in a general election to independents than a 72 year old wooden Senator that speaks in 90 second blurbs or a pretty boy aristocratic Mitt that reminds many that he might be the John Kerry of the Republican party.
VOTE RUDY cause you WANT TO EGG THE LIBERAL MEDIA PUNDITS!

  • Posted By: PoliticalAnalyst @ 01/29/2008 1:57:46 PM

Comment: Just another Giuliani basher... Newsweek is like the NY Times...

That being said we might just see if the pundits ARE WRONG AGAIN about putting a nail in the coffin of another politician, in this case about Giuliani's run. There's been about 450,000-500,000 Republicans that voted by mail or early. If Giuliani gets 40-50% of those early votes it might mean the 10-15% pts difference separating him from the "media's frontrunners" McCain and Romney. IT IS GOING TO BE MUCH CLOSER THAN ANYONE EXPECTS..... have fun watching the pundits get egg on their faces tonight

VOTE FOR WHO YOU TRULY BELIEVE IN AND NOT WHAT THE MEDIA PUNDITS WANT YOU TO BELIEVE ARE THE FRONT RUNNERS....
With polls being taken of 900 or so telephone responders it is no wonder that THEY HAVE BEEN A JOKE in the CAMPAIGN many times; THEY ARE NOT REPRESENTATIVE of the way Florida voters are going to vote....

Comment: Rudy losing in Florida (and hopefully Romney winning) will be the media focus for the next few days and it will knock a lot of the bad Hillary news off the "front page".

That said I think it will be very interesting to see what the press does tonight when it comes to the Florida primary on the Democratic side. While the press claims it does not matter due to no delegates beign awarded they also stated that Michigan did not matter for the same reason but then super analyzed the exit polls and the demographic breakdown of those voting for Hillary and those voting for uncommitted. In my opinion, either the primary in Florida MATTERS and hence the media should talk about who wins, by what margin, and why or it does NOT MATTER and they should not talk about this stuff at all.

Comment: Good, with Giuliani out of the way the last real sleazebag running is Hillary, a few months ago I was really worried the general election would be Hillary v. Rudy. They say power corrupts absolutely and absolute power corrupts absolutely, well this guy was already willing to use his position for revenge as mayor, could you imagine what he would do as president? I don't even want to think about it. I just hope the Dems don't fall for the Clinton's scheme, otherwise I'll be voting Republican. (not Huckabee though... he doesn't believe in evolution...)

Comment: "After touching down in Florida after the New Hampshire primary, he watched as his once commanding lead in the state disappeared..."

All he has to do is open his mouth.

    "We'll see you later."

Comment: The fact that he's struggling is a crying shame, because he's by far the best candidate to lead the country in the troubled times ahead. He is a wonderful man who got boycotted by the press. If he loses Florida he will have to quit the campaign delighting his enemies but America will be the loser. They dragged his personal life through the mud in screaming headlines as though only saints made it to the White House while Bill Clinton with all his mistakes (and they were many) got a free ride. But he should hold his head up and go on with his life because win or lose Florida, he will always be our hero.

Comment: You don't know anything about Guiliani. I'm a New Yorker and before 9/11 Giuliani was not popular, especially among minorities. He was an adulterer, abused his power, had his corrupt buddy become
Police Commisiioner and most of all was petty and vindictive. If you were against him he'd make you
pay, he once shouted down the mother of a son killed by police. He would not tolerate criticism of any kind
especially from newspapers. How cynical of him to run on the "9/11 platform" , he did what any good mayor
would have done, comfort the city in crisis. But to vault from that to President? Get real.

Comment: Unfortunately Giuliani was the only "reasonable" Republican they had, his strong-point was that he had some cross-party appeal because he wasn't an evangelical bible-thumping zealot using ridiculous issue like gay marriage and abortion to garner all the ultra-conservative right-ring nutjobs who are too blinded by their own "values" to realize that these are not good enough reasons to choose a President. Republicans should realize that their only chance of appealing to the conservatives was to have a more middle of the road candidate. Now that the Republicans have chosen McCain or Romney they've galvanized Democrats to vote along party lines. McCain may have a slim chance in the general election, but if Romney squeaks by you will have a Democrat in the White House. I find it hard to believe that there is anyone left in this country that can support the current moron in the White House, I guess that just proves how many short-sighted idiots we have in this country.

Comment: I hope that Florida does the right thing and send this Dictator packing, as a New Yorker who lived under the Giuliani regime I can finally exhale. Everything was personal with him, either you were with him or against him. How could he protect America from terrorists when he couldn't even protect New York? Besides a few photo ops on the pile, funerals, press conferences, etc he chose to make 9/11 his cornerstone for his campaign. Don't fret, he can now go back to his businesses and clients and continue making tons of money off of the the backs of the real victims of that awful day.

Comment: However dumb/expensive the primary trail is- it serves a purposse. it gives voters a chance to evaluate the candidates in many settings and on good days and bad. Rudy decided he 'don't need no stink'n primaries'.

    Big strategic error. Bye Rudy!

    • Posted By: slw1hot @ 01/29/2008 11:21:08 AM

Comment: I agree with skidued wholeheartedly. By not campaigning in the previous states we were not able to truly measure him against McCain and Romney. Each region has its "hot topics" and by bypassing earlier primaries, not only were the people not afforded Guliani's pespective, but he also vanished from the public consciousness...I commend those who try to get their message across in every state, no matter if it for a losing place in the polls.

  • Posted By: mongoose_eyeball @ 01/29/2008 8:26:45 AM

Comment: This is a shame, because he's the only candidate running from either major party that I could vote for without holding my nose. Hillary's a tired, old nag, Obama's all image--a creation of the media. Mcain is inconsistent. I imagine that the Republicans are probably going to nominate one of the evangalistic kooks like Huckabee or Romney. It looks like once again the Republican party is in danger of being appropriated by religious zealots.

trying to ride the 911 saga to victory, what a shame

Comment: What a LOSER! Although as an Independent who has little orno respect for ANY of the candidates, except maybe a little for Obama, I hope that Rudy does get the Republican nod because I don't like him perosnally or politically and I'd love to see him eat it. I've got a better chance of being President than Rudy and I haven't even campaigned in Florida.

Comment: Wow ,calling a guy that broke the back of the New York mob. cut taxes, cut welfare rolls, cleaned up a the cess pool that was Time Square and the rest of NEW YORK city. By the way a result of that is that 47 million tourists visited New York city last year, during the previous administration crime was rampant and
taxes out of control ,New York city was widely seen as crime capital of the notheast, he changed all that by making some tough decisions. Insofar has rudy being vindictive or secretive,THIS GUY WAS A PROSECUTER ,that is what they are taught, you need to be tough when dealing with criminals Face it most of the lily white ultra conservative religious zealot right thinks that a guy with a last name that ends in avowel should'nt be in the white house. Learn the facts before you take your bigotry out for a walk.

Comment: ALL OF WHAT IS SAID ABOUT GIULIANI IS STRICTLY ABOUT WHAT PEOPLE ARE READING IN THE LIBERAL BIASED MEDIA,DO YOU KNOW ANY OF HIS POLICY OR PROPOSALS HE HAS PUT FORTH IN
THIS CAMPAIGN? I DOUBT IT,.AS FAR AS 9/11 IS CONCERNED, YOU SAID HE DID WHAT ANY GOOD MAYOR WOULD DO, I WAS IN NEW YORK ON 9/11 WHEN YOU SAW HIM OR HEARD HIM DURING THIS CRISI HE MADE YOU FEEL THAT THE PERSON IN CHARGE HAD A "PAIR" AND WAS'NT AFRAID TO MAKE TOUGH CHOICES. FACE IT ALL OFWHAT I HEAR FROM THE FAR RIGHT ( IN CODE SPEAK) IS THIS GUY "S LAST NAME ENDS IN A VOWEL AND US WHITE BREADS CAN'T HAVE HIM IN THE WHITE HOUSE. HOW ELSE DO YOU EXPLAIN SUPPORT FOR "LETTUCE HEAD MCAIN OR FLIP FLOPPER PRETTY BOY ROMNEY,

Comment: Liberal based media? Get real. Stop whining about how it's so hard to be a conservative these days and realize that Rudy did himself in. He gambled on the premise that Florida would be a cake-walk and he would slide into first place. The other candidates, meanwhile, were out putting in the hours in frigid Iowa, New Hamphire, and all the other places Rudy couldn't bother to show up to. But more importantly, they were getting media attention while Rudy was hidden in Florida, no press to be found.

If this is how this "leader" plans, it serves him right that he lost. I may not be a huge fan of McCain, Romney, or Huckabee, but at least they're out there paying their dues and campaigning for every vote, not just for the ones that are convenient.

Comment: While i am a Guiliani sipporter i would have to agree, i also think that he has not shown enough passion
for what he beleives in. I've seen more passion and sense of urgency out of awheel of cheese
