Comment: Mr Richard Wolffe in his article has mentioned that the President Bush has most notably failed to live up by his own standard set at the start of his office to either the tone or the result he promised about the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan.

Perhaps he forgot to mention Pakistan where the American Administration has not only failed against war on terrorism but the General Musharraf military dictator who is following MR Bush against the payment of 80 Millions per month have also failed. In Afghanistan Mr. Karzai controls only 30% of land and Pakistani regime could account for only 30% of the dollars obtained from USA.

President Bush in his second term oath taking ceremony promised to introduce, protect and spread democracy all over the world. But he left aside his golden principle for introduction of democracy for Pakistan and for General Musharrf and failed to fulfill the promise he made in his oath taking speech.

General Musharraf abrogate the Constitution though he himself had taken oath to protect it to the best of his ability, he removed 60 judges of the high and Supreme Court. The Chief Justice of Pakistan is still under detention along with other fellow judges. He curbed media arrested lawyers and who opposed his action. He solely trimmed the Constitution just for making himself genuinely elected president of Pakistan, whereas, the Constitution does not permit army General to seek election for any public office.

Pakistan has rejected the worst governance and lawlessness of Musharraf on 18 February 2008 Elections. Neither Musharraf nor his style of governance is acceptable to the people. They want change, peace, food and shelter, remedy of their problems, rule of Law and independent judiciary so they could have access to justice.

Comment: What happened to the real open 9/11 investigation? How come none of the presidential candidates are mentioning it? They are all afraid, that the truth would come out.
For Bush to make any progress against terrorists at all, he would have to lock himself and his gang up. Him and his gang planned and executed 9/11! Many people know it now. All this bla bla bla about freedom in US. There is no freedom, they are just creating more fear and paranoia. Yeah, and be carefull if you mention the constitution too much, you will be considered a terrorist.
Also his new budget clearly shows that he is more interested in making the walthy even more waelthy and screw the rest.

Comment: I agree with the frat boys comment, please look closely at Romney, there is no more substance here than in George Bush. If only the war could dissapear with Bush, that we could forget these horrible years of Bush's war. We cannot, but we should have learned that money and arrogance breed unreigned power and scandals.

Comment: George Bush's legacy is one of arrogance, incompetence & lies. He and the powers that be made a mockery out of democracy by blatenly stealing the 2000 election and as a result we have been saddled with the worst presidency of all time! Unchecked republican power has resulted in disasterous policies, horrific scandals & untold death and heartache. PLEASE america, no more rich, privileged frat boys for president (are you listening Romney supporters?).

Comment: I've always been proud to be an American. I am not proud of what America has become under this administration. He does not represent the average American citizen. I hope that he doesn't represent any of us ever again. Lousy foreign representative. Lousy economic representative. Lousy environmental representative. Lousy human rights representative. GW is simply useless in every possible position in the US government. President ?George W. Bush will cost the US reputation for decades.

Comment: Bush, Cheney, Wolfowitz, Rumsfeld, Rice, and Rove should all be brought up on charges of treason for completely fabricating evidence to invade Iraq, killing and maiming thousands of Americans and Iraqis, and completely disregarding the Constitution. I firmly believe that this group of criminals has placed this great nation in a much more dangerous position, with no regard to human rights. We have allowed this administration to demonstrate such a lack of moral leadership worldwide, while squandering our formerly
good standing as a decent nation resting on solid, unwavering values. It will take at least four presidential terms to reverse the extensive damage to our nation's soul perpetrated by these zealots, who will never truly understand the damage they have wrought. America as a nation is firmly in decline due to the actions of the Bush/Cheney "Team". I am ashamed that Americans allowed his gang, including Jeb Bush, to illegally place him in office, and that Americans returned him to office. This will be Bush's only legacy.

Comment: The reason Bush hasn't been impeached is, I believe two fold. 1) The Democrats remember that impeaching Clinton cost the Republicans the majority the next election cycle and 2) having Bush in office is a boon to Democratic candidates.

As to the Bush legacy - he will go down in history as the president who knocked Buchanon out of the "worst president in history" spot.

Comment: Bush seems to be ignorant of the fact that we have a system of checks and balances built into the government of our nation for a very real reason - so that Congress may have the ability to check against the wildly treasonous actions of Bush. It amazes me to this day that he has yet to be impeached and ejected from office. Who does he think he is to be issuing threats to our elected Congressmen?

Comment: Unprovoked attack on a foreign country. Deliberately misleading the American people. Unchecked profiteering from war contractors. Unprecedented profits by oil companies, while prices continue to increase.
    TREASON.

Comment: I believe that, unfortunately, GW has never had an original thought. Just a pawn, along with many other Republicans, in the Cheney administration. Dick Cheney has written and directed the GW Bush legacy. He is just avoiding the majority of the blame by getting others (..Scooter Libby) to take the fall. I thought outing a US spy, in a time of war, was an act of TREASON. Unbelievable.

Comment: It is with relief that i see George bush make his last union address. No more expressions like "bring em on" , "we have to go over there before they come over here" and "he tried to kill my daddy", This "President" has been a total embarrassment to Americans, regardless of what party one belonged to. I travel overseas quite a bit and it will be relief to many other countries that Bush is on his way out. A more destructive and hypocritical President would be hard to come by in recent memory. It is fortunate that we have capable and basically honest persons such as McCain and Obama who could possibly bring some honesty and straightforwardness to a terribly corrupt and broken political system.

Comment: I noticed you criticized Benson for supporting the JOHN BIRCH SOCIETY. BUT you never criticized him. Benson doctrine is what the MAJORITY of Mormons live by. I would like to see you go to your church and criticize Benson. As mentioned I back my statements up with facts.
There are many reasons Mormons will not come forth even though they know of the corruption in the Mormon church. One is due to their belief in Mormon scripture which they associate with the Mormon church. The leadership has usurped power and authority over this scripture. Thus, the members of the Mormon church think that God expects them to support their misguided leaders. This is much the - rationalization that many Americans make about our government. They all know of the corruption, but rationalize that it is unpatriotic to talk against the government or ungrateful to complain when they enjoy superficial prosperity."

THE LINK BETWEEN BUSH FAMILY AND ROMNEY IS HENRY TAFT BENSON. CO FOUNDER OF THE RUSSEL TRUST aka. SKULLS N BONES SOCIETY.

THE CLINTON"S ARE JUST TO polarizing. Too many scandals, to many investigations. I do not believe they are guilty in all those scandals I just believe AMERICA needs a change from the establishment. We do not need a years worth of divisive campaigning. IT would be amazing to see McCain vs OBAMA. A GOOD CLEAN HEAVY WEIGHT FIGHT. NO ONE GETS THEIR EAR BIT OFF. A ROMNEY CAMpaign would be just like BUSH'S very divisive and full of lies. IF AMERICA CHOOSES THESE TWO CANDIDATES to represent their respective parties then I think the AMERICAN political process can begin to heal and set an example to the rest of the world. WHAT KIND OF MESSAGE ARE WE SENDING IRAQIS and AFGHANS. IF we promote racial divide why shoud they give us the benefit of the doubt concerning ABU GRADE and BLACK WATER. ARE WE REALLY RACIST CAN IT BE THAT THE CLINTON"S ARE A REFLECTION OF OUR SOCIETY. DIVIDE people so we the CLINTON'S can attain the power we are entitled too and so rightfully deserve after my conduct in the OVAL OFFICE. No one else is capable of being president. I will become nasty and play the race card because the "MEDIA" is trying to take away the presidency from me and my wife.

OBAMA HAS TO GAIN GROUND WITH THE LATINO VOTE. HE NEEDS TO BLITZ THE LATINO"S WITH COMMERCIALS OF ECONOMIC prosperity.

Last night when the State of the Union was on, I was being entertined by watching wrestling. (Hannah Montana wasn't on). By the way, her economic stimulus package would work as well as Bush's.

This man cares not about freedoms but about his own agendas. He couldn't care less about how much money he wastes (imagine spending 80 Billion dollars a month on your own people instead of some useless war in Iraq). Sickening. This man lives in a bubble and has no idea what a mess he has created. Good luck USA in your upcoming elections, I hope you get a great president to help put you back to the stature you once enjoyed.

Comment: You're kidding me--to say that "At the time, the president was calling for a missile defense system that he still hasn't developed or deployed" is ridiculous. Right now--today--we have 21 long-range interceptor missiles at Fort Greely, Alaska and three interceptors at Vandenberg AFB, Calif. to defend the US against a limited ICBM attack from North Korea. We also have three land-based radars, one sea-based X-band radar operating in the Pacific Ocean, and a transportable X-band radar stationed in Japan. We also have 18 modified radars aboard US Navy Aegis ships, and more than 30 interceptor missiles for the ships to defend against short to medium range missiles, plus more than 600 advanced Patriot interceptors. The Terminal High Altitude Area Defense (THAAD) interceptor system designed to intercept up to intermediate range ballistic missiles has had tremendous test sucess and will be available to commanders in a few years. With the huge amount of information readily available, it is unbelievable that you would state matter-of-factly that missile defense technology hasn't been developed and deployed.

Bush claims to be compassionate, yet he vetoed SCHIPS.. Poverty has increased in the 7 years of Bush???s misrule. Hate crimes have increased and 47 million Americans have no access to medical insurance or medical care - That???s 10 million more than when Bush took office. With statistics like these, for Bush to claim that he is compassionate is a blatant lie.

  • Posted By: Mwalimu @ 01/29/2008 11:49:13 AM

    Comment:

One of the biggest lies in Bush???s State of the Union Speech is his campaign for fair and free elections in Iraq, Afghanistan, and elsewhere. The 2000 election was rigged by Bush???s brother Jeb in Florida - and Bush actually did NOT win the popular vote. The 2004 election was also rigged by a series of maneuvers outlined by Greg Palast in Armed Madhouse. According to Palast, 5-6 million people were deprived of their right to vote, mostly African-American and Latino

Now, continuing tradition of voter suppression, a number of states dominated by Republican governors and legislators have passed laws requiring photo Id???s Indiana???s law requires either a driver???s licence or passport, thereby disenfranchising 11 % of the population. The law is on appeal and President Bush has filed a brief in favor of Indiana???s restrictive laws. Supposedly, photo ID laws are supposed to protect against identity theft and voter fraud. However, exhaustive studies conducted by the Brennan Center for Justice at NYU has conducted exhaustive studies on voter fraud and failed to find any verifiable cases. The Photo ID laws are simply a thinly disguised form of a poll tax or literacy test. In the hands of partisan election officials, they can be used to discriminate against voters that these elections officials don???t want to vote - specifically African-Americans and Latinos. It is hypocritical that Bush sends African-Americans and Latinos to die in Iraq to defend free elections, while these people might be denied the right to vote in their own state. Bush???s support of 21 century poll taxes prove that he is a pathological liar.

Comment: Bush asks Americans to trust him. Say what? According to a study conducted by the Center
for Public Integrity, Bush and his cohorts lied to the public about Iraq a total of 953 times in a two year period. Bush insists on wire-tapping American citizens without a search warrant. He insist on maintaining his right to apprehend, arrest, and detain any American citizen he suspects of being an agent of terrorism without a writ of haebeas corpus. (His Secretary of Education, Rodney K. Paige labeled the NEA a terrorist organization.) His appointee Scott J. Bloch US Office of Special Counsel, which is supposed to protect whitleblowers, actually persecutes any one who attempts to tell the truth to the American people. Bush even outs covert CIA agents, like Valerie Plame, if they do not agree with him, endangering our national secruity. Now, he is asking us to trust him?

    Sorry, no way, Jorge.
    Yours truly,
    William Joseph Miller

  • Posted By: Mwalimu @ 01/29/2008 11:33:27 AM

Comment: The Center for Public Integrity recently posted a study which ???counted 935 false statements in the two-year period. It found that in speeches, briefings, interviews and other venues, Bush and administration officials stated unequivocally on at least 532 occasions that Iraq had weapons of mass destruction or was trying to produce or obtain them or had links to al-Qaida or both.???

This study also named along??? top officials of the administration during the period studied: Vice President Dick Cheney, national security adviser Condoleezza Rice, Defense Secretary Donald H. Rumsfeld, Secretary of State Colin Powell, Deputy Defense Secretary Paul Wolfowitz and White House press secretaries Ari Fleischer and Scott McClellan.???
With a record like this, how or why should we believe anything that President Bush said in his State of the Union address? Bush is a pathological liar, and he presecutes any one who tries to tell the people the truth. (Consider Valerie Plame.)

As David Korten, the author of When Corporations Rule the World stated in a recent article published in WorldArk Magazine,???Many of our most powerful political and corporate officeholders fit the clinical definition of the psychopath or sociopath The psychopath or sociopath can appear to be very charming, but lacks any capacity for compassion, is unable to see the world from any viewpoint but his or her own and psychologicall incapable of moral behavior.???
Korten???s words aptly describe Bush???s the State of the Union Message.

This is tied together with an integrated command, control and communication operated by U.S. Northern Command and ready for defensive operations. And this is just the developed, tested and deployed defense against long-range missiles. There are also more than 30 sea-based interceptor missiles produced for short to medium range missile threats, nearly 1,000 advanced Patriot interceptors deployed around the world with the U.S. Army, and the Terminal High Altitude Area Defense (THAAD) system to intercept up to intermediate range missiles over a wider area than Patriot is nearly finished with its initial test program and will be ready for worldwide deployment within three years. By the end of this year, we will have a total of 30 long-range interceptors deployed in Alaska and California, providing more capability against a North Korean theat, and with the completion of upgrades to radars in the United Kingdom and Greenland, we will have a defense against Iranian ICBMs as well. It is hard to imagine that with all the information out there about the current state of our missile defense system that you would--incredibly--write that the technologies haven't been developed or deployed. The Bush/Cheney administration has humiliated Republicans with its strong-arm (dictatorlike) tactics, twisting of the truth (masters of political spin), concealing the executive branch of government in a shroud so that they cannot be held accountable, and enabling big business and corporate executives to ride rough-shod over the lives of hard working Americans (both Republican and Democrat) with its pork-barrel corporate handouts and deregulation. Unfortunately, I find no salvation in ANY of the Republican presidential choices and intend to vote for ANY DEMOCRAT other than Hill/Billy Clinton. Remember NAFTA? That is a Clinton administration policy that started this whole mess we are in as a country. The Bush/Cheney legacy is the destruction of the Republican party.

Comment: poor little Eliztson ,elite you are ,but intelligent you never will be : why was the 911 Commission lying in their final report ,more by omiission then commission , Try reading it and then look up the real facts . We spent 15 million to bribe the commission ,but take a look at all the plush jobs they have now ?But we spent 46 million on Monica , ?So "911 was less important by 2yrs and 31 million dollars ? A blue dress worth more than kiling with a president that has been recorded as lying 935 times to take us to war ,and that does not include the lies of 911 ... joe bell 2 ellis st woburn ma 01801 781-932-1640 belljp@rcn.com

Comment: Well, at least Richard Wolffe's article was open-minded, respectful of the President and presented the facts about taxes and the war on terror. He could have just given the same old Democrat anti-Bush talking points and slammed the President in order to move Newsweek's liberal socialist agenda forward. Oh wait, that is what he did. Nevermind. Carry on, nothing new to see here people.

Comment: When I heard Bush was going to give his last State of the Union speech, my mind focused on the word, last. The country has had enough of Bush. Bush is not just a failure as a president, America's world position is what carried him in this world, he squandered America's good name. He claimed to be the faith based government, I fail too see a single Christian act in his administration. America must learn to leave the elections of religious leaders to the Churches, and elections of administrators, to the government. A preacher as president is as useless as a economist in the Church. The sooner we realize a presidential election does not elect a pope, the better it will be for America.

Comment: In my 61 years I can't recall a less effective President, from the fiasco of mis-management of the Katrina disaster, to the controversy surrounding this countrys involvement in the middle-east, Bush has shown that he did not and still does not deserve the high office he holds!! I hope historians will see him for the incompetent fellow he is.
