George Bush's State of the Union speech demonstrates more than ever that he does not now or has never comprehended the fact that the American people can spot a phoney a mile away. His constant smirking and playing to the cameras show he doesn't realize the recession we are now in and how the American people are hurting..His war in Iraq has caused the economy to go downhill and the the deficit to rise to unheard of levels. The sooner he goes back to Texas the better off this country will be.

poor little Eliztson ,elite you are ,but intelligent you never will be : why was the 911 Commission lying in their final report ,more by omiission then commission , Try reading it and then look up the real facts . We spent 15 million to bribe the commission ,but take a look at all the plush jobs they have now ?But we spent 46 million on Monica , ?So "911 was less important by 2yrs and 31 million dollars ? A blue dress worth more than kiling with a president that has been recorded as lying 935 times to take us to war ,and that does not include the lies of 911 ... joe bell 2 ellis st woburn ma 01801 781-932-1640 belljp@rcn.com

Proper punctuation is so underrated. So is proper grammar,,, and the ability to make a coherent argument.

GHWB and GWB will be judged in history by their "infamous' " Drug dealing and killing in the name of freedom .In 2001 ,a Catholic priest at the National Cathedral called bush jr. "our dragon slayer with a helmet of gray hair,"OUR GEORGE.. How's that for catholic theology, and if that isn't enough ,the Pope places a gold ring on cardinal O'Malley's finger ,his thanks for "covering up the pedophilia abuse in Boston , while they hide Law from the law in boston

George Bush/DIck Cheney's legacy includes alienating millions of Republicans like myself who work like everyone else and who do not own our own businesses and benefit like Halliburton. The Bush/Cheney administration has humiliated Republicans with its strong-arm (dictatorlike) tactics, twisting of the truth (masters of political spin), concealing the executive branch of government in a shroud so that they cannot be held accountable, and enabling big business and corporate executives to ride rough-shod over the lives of hard working Americans (both Republican and Democrat) with its pork-barrel corporate handouts and deregulation. Unfortunately, I find no salvation in ANY of the Republican presidential choices and intend to vote for ANY DEMOCRAT other than Hill/Billy Clinton. Remember NAFTA? That is a Clinton administration policy that started this whole mess we are in as a country. The Bush/Cheney legacy is the destruction of the Republican party.

So many interesting and unpredicted successes for President Bush could go down in history as the presidency of the "I CHING."

When I heard Bush was going to give his last State of the Union speech, my mind focused on the word, last. The country has had enough of Bush. Bush is not just a failure as a president, America's world position is what carried him in this world, he squandered America's good name. He claimed to be the faith based government, I fail too see a single Christian act in his administration. America must learn to leave the elections of religious leaders to the Churches, and elections of administrators, to the government. A preacher as president is as useless as a economist in the Church. The sooner we realize a presidential election does not elect a pope, the better it will be for America.

Well, at least Richard Wolffe's article was open-minded, respectful of the President and presented the facts about taxes and the war on terror. He could have just given the same old Democrat anti-Bush talking points and slammed the President in order to move Newsweek's liberal socialist agenda forward. Oh wait, that is what he did. Nevermind. Carry on, nothing new to see here people.

In my 61 years I can't recall a less effective President, from the fiasco of mis-management of the Katrina disaster, to the controversy surrounding this countrys involvement in the middle-east, Bush has shown that he did not and still does not deserve the high office he holds!! I hope historians will see him for the incompetent fellow he is.

  • Posted By: deacon6047 @ 01/29/2008 1:52:23 AM

In my opinion George W Bush has proven himself to be a self-serving, arrogant men who did not and still does not show himself to be worthy of the office he holds!! I hope history will reveal him to be the incompetent fellow he has shown himself to be.
