Comment: Well goodbye to the republician party. I am a strong conservitive who will now take my vote elsewhere with Mc Cain now as the front runner. He is dishonest and a cheat. GO OBAMA!
New Web and radio ads by the Arizona senator lack context.

Comment: To Ohbaby2684,
I suppose you believe the propaganda about the war in Iraq making our country safer, but take it from someone who has fought in Iraq- there is no way to win a victory there, and even if we did, that would not contain the terrorists. They will only be forced to move someplace else- you cannot win against an ideology.
Comment: mccain is the man to do the job our country requires!! in this day and time of our life with president bush running his course and doing a great job at it,we now need mccain to step up and do just as good if not better! we do not need terrosts entering our country ,right behind our men coming home because the dems want to bring all our men and women home, which in turn.brings terrosists following, and GOD only knows what we will reap if this happens!! if it does, u may want to HUG your BABIES NOW !!! and not let go!
Comment: I find it interesting that people think the Mormon church is only interested in Money. Have you ever seen a religious infomercial from the leaders of the Mormon church? Have you seen a commercial asking for you to send in money so you can get a "free" book? I think people would be shocked at how infrequently the Mormon church asks for money from its members. And when it comes in, it goes to buildings and programs (with very little to people).
Comment: Ok, come on! Enough with the slander of the Mormon church. If you don't want to vote for Romney, that is your right in this country. But, let's leave the religious test aside. I am Mormon and I have been a Bishop. I can only tell you that the Church of Jesus Christ has helped me to become a better person. We are not perfect, but we do our best to follow the teachings of Jesus Christ. In terms of doctrine, everything we believe is in the Bible. However, we are also lucky to have additional scriptures. We also believe in modern day revelation. See Amos 3:7.

Comment: McCain in a master of distortion and evasion. He lies so smoothly one can tell he has had lots of practice. Perhaps that comes from 24 years in congress. Although we are a Republican family, none of us will vote for McCain. I would vote for Hillary (who I do not like) rather than McCain.
Comment: HEALTH CARE PLANS: Is the same as we (individuals) have plans ( IF ) what ever comes along ie, Money-Time-the other signigficant other helps or allows us. Which is the same i argue about the KEY WORDS lay out before our eyes.. " SIGNED UP " yeah thats what thier claiming. So many Thousands have signed up..in Bold letters i submit " THAT DOES NOT MEAN THEY ARE APPROVED " now you get it? and how many of course will not sign up..due to realization there is no need. For there is no money for the plan or they don't want to be part of their TAX increase. wake up simpltones. Health Care is a Dead Issue untill and as so many feel reluctant to it.." Becomes State Owned "
Comment: There IS simply only ONE Candidate worthy and worth while on any subject of substance, that person is John Mc Cain. To have Insight/Far-sight that person has seen trail and errors in every direction. A person who must allow the Horrors done to him/her in the past and make peace with the perpitrators from both continents in which he came from and went to, in my firm belief is a person worth having as PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES. For the Better and Good of all peoples Foriegn and Domestic is what i see McCain being as that person.
The action as in any President is obvious to go beyond Todays Issues for the longer term of Years ahead. This i planly see in Mccain. Can anyone truly see any other more worhty than him? That is Obsured if anyone care to debate any other candidates historical actions, aside from their Hollow " I wish, I tried, etc. Look beyond yourselves today or yesterday. For he has and does..and so do I. For i am embrassingly Poor and abroad Xpat trying megerly to survive with some dignity about myself than fliping hamburgers. I if anyone had anything to say beyond myself..i am optomistic to look forward to a brighter day, and many other countries are hopeing the same.
Comment: In all fairness, have you considered that there is another candidate still in the race who is still holding the #1 position in many Super Tuesday states, and who has refused to resort to the slime attacks that either McCain or Romney have used. MIKE HUCKABEE has been steadily gaining ground with average people because he understands them and their needs better than any other candidate. He has also spent much time in his 10+ year career as Arkansas' governor and in other capacities travelling the world and listening to their people. He has proven himself electable by being elected not once, but twice by an 80-90% Democratic state. While there, he improved the schools, roads systems, and state economy, while passing right to life legislation more than once. While everyone else talks about being conservative, he just is. While others say they will work across the aisle, he has without stepping across himself. You can learn more about his record and his policies at mikehuckabee.com
Comment: What are all of you looking for in a President? Someone who has values? Someone who is honest? Someone who knows how to fix our economic problems? That is what I want in a President and that is why I am voting for Mitt Romney.
Comment: Well, being a retired Navy War Vet, as well as a registered Republican, I pride myself as a Patriot first, that is why I am shifting colors and voting for Mitt Romney. Patriots don't mislead the American people. I just can't trust McCain anymore. He is a liar and will say anything to get elected. We could possbly be robbed of a great leader in Mitt by actually believing a coniving old politician like McCain. An Army of asses led by a Lion is vastly superior to an Army of lions led by an ass.
Comment: One of the saddest things about reading this blog, is how much name calling and disinformation there is here. I was fortunate enough to work on Sen. McCain's senate campaigns in Arizona several years ago. Sen McCain is a decorated war hero who has worked with the Senate Arms committee for a very long time. He is certainly more qualified for the role of President then Mitt Romney. Mitt Romney is just another multi-millionaire buying his way into the Presidency. This "plan" of McCain and Huckabee is just another false rumour planted by the Romney misinformation campaign. Nothing could be farther from the truth. Sen. McCain is coming up with innovative solutions to get this country back on track., and if reaching across the isle to work with the democrats is the way to do it, GOOD FOR HIM. Lets wake up to the real truth here: articles like this that are published by Magazines with their own agendas, only hurt our party, not the candidate. Although I do not trust Romney at all, if he becomes the nominee, I will support him to try to keep what little values that are left in our country. I hope you Romney supporters will remember that when Sen. McCain becomes the nominee.
Comment: Iharga: You are obviously angry and hurt but spreading further lies and misinformation doesn't help anyone. And by the way, what does your failed marriage have to do with Mitt Romney?
Comment: You are obviously ignorant to what the church really is. The reason that Romney is so good at making money, is because the Mormon Church is not a non-profit organization, but a business in diguise that touted the shrewdness of their leaders in a major article about their sesquicentennial. Not surprising. Brigham Young, who took almost all the wealth of the people who followed him to Salt Lake City, bragged that he was the only man in Utah who knew how to make money. Meanwhile, his wives all worked at jobs or ran businesses to support themselves and him. This church is very dangerous and should not control the presidency of our country.
Comment: I'm with you, eshuster. I won't vote for McCain either. He's a liar and his sidekick Huckabee isn't any better. Hopefully their scheme to keep Romney from getting the nomination will backfire. At any rate, I certainly hope we don't end up limited to choosing between McCain and the Clintons. Its hard to say which is worse!
Comment: I'm not sure about McCain's status as a liar, but he certainly isn't a conservative, and neither is Romney. His main interest is in getting himself elected, whatever he has to say to get the job done. But, you are very wrong about Mike Huckabee. He is the only man running for office who has been consistently conservative, has come up with real ideas for real change, and admits that we need to do more than change the face of the person spewing their ideas at us. He was the only making sense last night at the debates while McRomney were sounding like school-children tattling on each other. I would not trust Romney to be honest about what he ate for breakfast, let alone lead this country.
Comment: Your main mistake was looking to anybody else other than yourself to solve your problems, what did you expect
Comment: I have personal dealings with the "Mormon" Church The Church is not squeaky clean. I belonged to the church for several years, graduated from BYU, married in the Temple, attended Church. But when my husband who also served a church mission persisted in lying, cheating and progressively became more agressive towards me, I asked for assistance from the church leaders. The first time we were living over seas and the mission president upon leaving our home after conference with my husband who was one of his counselors said in front of both of us, "oh by the way, I understand that you have a problem of lying to your wife, is that true?" My husband answered yes to which he was told, dont do it any more. this mad things worse. When I finally realized I could not stay married to the man and live I went to the church leaders again for assistance to only be assulted by the Bishop of our ward and then to be called a lier by the Stake President, I was to evil to have members of the church assist me, but then they sent the elders to my home every fast sunday demanding a fast offering. I later moved to Washington State and one night while watching the news they had a story of a bishop of a ward in the area who had kidnapped a teenage girl whose guardian no longer wished to be associated with the "Mormons". I contacted the guardian and spoke at length as to my experience and she hers. In a word the situation the poor guardian and teenage girl was in was "ghastly". In each case the "Mormon leaders" deemed it as their right to violate mine and this other families rights to be free from harm and terrorization. There are many other stories of people I know who have had similar problems with this church, including many Native Americans who were sent to their schools and were beaten and violated more often than anyother religious boarding school Native children were sent to. Is Mitt Romney telling the truth, would I trust him as President? NO, I would not and not just because of the above comments. One of the religious teachings that was drilled into our heads while at BYU was that in the Latter-days the govt of the US would fall and it would be the elders of Isreal, meaning the men of the "Mormon" church who would save it. That would be the first step to taking over completely first the United States and then the rest of the world. This church has from its inception been focused on controlling the entire world. They already have numerous of their members in very high placed postions of the US government, this is intentional on their part. Those who succeed in moving up the ladder in the govt and business are "called" to positions of leadership in the church, the higher up the ladder in the outside world the higher up the ladder they are moved to in the church. Vote for whom you want. But first research out Mormon doctrine from both sides, that of what the church says and that fr
Comment: I have never been Mormon, but have lived in an area that was appr. 90% Mormon. What you are saying, unfortunately is not a great surptise to me. The leaders of the church were usually the most corrupt and abusive of civil rights of the people. While they tout their church welfare programs, they require you be a member in good standing to recieve benefits from them. That includes having your mandatory 10% tithe paid up to date. If a person really needs help, how can they afford their tithe? I knew a person who went to apply at the local big box store for a job, but was told they could not hire him because he was not Mormon. That is how they keep people from other faiths from succeeding in their area. Another man was told that people wouldn't shop at his paint store because he wasn't LDS, so he converted, and his business flourished. These are only a few of the abuses. In addition, their theology truly does teach that Jesus and Satan were brothers, and that Joseph Smith holds the key to heaven, and many other aberrant ideas. I am amazed that people are voting for Romney without looking into his church's teachings. They are really scary. REsearch it out, don't take my word for it!!
Comment: Unfortunately, you are incorrect. I am not Mormon, but have been married to one. We went thru a very hard time financially and hadn't been able to pay tithes for a long time ( and I do not since I am not a member). But they were there for us and helped us out with food and diapers and even paid our electric one month. While I do acknowledge that some towns are like that (Snowflake, AZ) where I once liver was exactly like that, not all Mormons are. So please do not judge a people by the bad. I am actually a devout penecostal, but acknowledge there are just as many Christians in the Mormon church as there are in the main stream Christian church. Remember Christ words to us, judge not least you be judged.
Comment: I have never heard of anyone recieving anything from any Mormon church without either an expectation of repayment+, or the trying to use it as a tool to make you obligated to the church, so you live amongst a much more forgiving group. All of that aside, I don't judge the people for their ignorance, but the Church for it's depth of deception. Beginning with Joseph Smith through today, the LDS church and its leaders have had a clean and family centered exterior with a very corrupt interior. I have spent much time learning their doctrines and what their scriptures teach, so I'm not fooled by the Christain-sounding words they use to deceive people. The reason I say this is because Mitt Romney uses the same tactics. He makes himself look good, but he is having a hard time covering all the things that he has said and done that speaks much more loudly than his words of today. He was trained with the best of them...he was a Bishop in their church.
Comment: Iharg2, you sound angry and hurt but I have never seen a situation like this that wasn't two sided! Spreading lies and misinformation may make YOU feel better but it doesn't help anyone else. And by the way, what does your failed marriage have to do with Mitt Romney?
Comment: McCain is more politician than war hero. While all politicians lie, McCain is showing a stronger propensity to lie than others. McCain is desperate to be somebody before he retires and will do anything to be the Republican candidate. I am equally as disgusted by Huckabee staying in the race for one thing and one thing only - to ensure Romney goes down. He has struck a deal with McCain to take votes from Romney in exchange for a future favor. It is purely disgusting! None of these guys want Romney to take the nomination because he represents something they are not - a hard working American who wants to change Washington. He may have refined his position on abortion and immigration, but it is only a refinement if you look at the truth. I have refined my own positions on both over the last five years. If McCain gets the nomination I will not vote for him - he has lost my vote already for his lying ways.
Comment: Hmm...lets see, here is another factoid: Newsweek is owned by The Washington Times, a chief rival of The New York Times, a newspaper that recently endorsed John McCain. So where is the impartial journalism? Mitt Romney is a share holder in The Washington Times. Makes you wonder is this article a true assessment of the truth? John McCain has done more for the Republican Party then Mitt Romney ever did.
Comment: Wow, the media telling the truth about a lying candidate without sugar coating it. How refreshing.
Of course, Ron Paul couldn't figure out he economy, he still things a blob of cells has a right life, and women shouldn't have freedom to control their own bodies. Libertarian BS, not at all. He hates freedom, when women have it. That kook wants women out of the marketplace. He'll never get a freedom loving woman's vote.
Comment: McCain is as big a lier as W and he dose not have a clue how to fix the economy, Ron Paul tryed to show that in the debate last week.
I am a vet of Veitnam, Gulf war #1, Bosina and OIF and I am telling you this war is wrong and John McCain is very wrong. If we are there for the hundred years he wants and six months after we leave the old Iraq will return. The Iraqi people just want us out and leave them alone. We can't afford to keep kill our soldiers and spending 10 billion every month on a lost cause.
Remember where Joe lipperman is from, Conn. and it is full of defense factorys putting money in his pockets. They must think "WE THE PEOPLE" are stupid.
I am a registed republican but I only see one choce for us now and that is Obama, remember Hillery has the defense industry backing her also.
We can't change Washington with the same people that have been ripping us off for years.
Comment: I've gotta say that was pretty pathetic what mccain did in florida just before Friday with those false radio and other advertisement attatcks on Romney's work in Mass. I didn't think he would stoop that low, but i guess that showed even a little more of him.
Comment: McCain is old school Washington and half of the Washington elite who brought us McCain-Kennedy, a shameless amnesty bill, dispite his denial of the label. Legislators were bombarded with oppostion calls, faxes, etc. until this excuse of an immigration "reform" bill was halted. America spoke, no it screamed its disapproval but still McCain is trying to resurect this "shamnesty" bill. John McCain is just another lifer from Washington who will ignore the voice of the people. Haven't we had enough of that with the Bush administration? If you want four more years of Bush, vote for this tired, broken record of a politician..
Comment: McCain is old school Washington; part of the liberal elite who brought us McCain-Kennedy, an amnesty program dispite his objection to it being called so. Legislators were bombarded with complaints and threats until this fraud of an "immigration reform" bill was sent packing. America spoke, no, it shouted its disapproval and still McCain is trying to resurrect this "shamnesty plan. For the people? I don't think so. Not John McCain - he's just another politician who doesn't hear American voices. Want Bush for four more years, then be my guest and elect John McCain.
Comment: Mc Cain is a Bush fan and will not do anything but keep this war going for the oil and profit...this is crazy he is another bad Republican...
Comment: Please check your facts. McCain is not a Bush fan, never has been, especially since Bush beat him in the primaries. Do not soil Sen. McCains history of voting to help people and not taking campaign money from big business and campaign reform efforts, and being a decorated war hero. He may not be your hero, but his not a bad Republican.
Comment: McCain is an idiot. Where is McCain's health care plan? MORE OF THE SAME? ...I don't want that. I'm glad that ROMNEY is putting forth effort to make change. ROMNEY has demonstrated that he will do things to make improvements in our government. McCain has demonstrated that he will badmouth other people who don't sit back and let government fail.
Comment: McCain states he will nominate conservative judges, but he said he would not nominate another Sam Aleto becase he is too conservative.
Comment: I'm with ya buddy!!......what an idiot
Comment: I'm with ya buddy!!! ......what an idiot
Comment: The growing Latino population in America is definately going to be a factor in this election and more in future ones.
I really hope they aren't duped into thinking that Hillary Clinton is going to help them in any way.
This lady is getting to be known as venomous Hillary and the title fits her personality perfect !
Hillary wants to be President for many reasons and one in particular is POWER and Slick Willy will pay for his days of immorality !!!
Sen. Obama will unify this country and ALL American will heal and grow together !!!
America has been injured by this King George rtign, Sen. Obama wants nothing more than to begin the healing and it will take every American to complete this process.
Sen. Barack Obama for" ALL" America!
Comment: Just wondering if your heard FL Senator Mel Martinez, who when asked for reasons for his support of John McCain, stated he wanted to endorse the candidate who would be "Fidel Castro's worst nightmare." Martinez went into a long disertation about McCain standing on a ship off the coast of Cuba ready to give his life for the freedom of the Cuban people. I'll drive the six hours to "Little Havana," bet the only sight I'd see is McCain throwing them all life rafts, social security cards, drivers licenses and a ticket for a free ride off tax-paying Americans.
Comment: Note to eddiewhere: You obviously know very little about Mormons, so I suggest you make comments about topics you know something about. Otherwise you spread nonsense and make bigots out of other people besides yourself.
Comment: noticed you criticized Benson for supporting the JOHN BIRCH SOCIETY. BUT you never criticized him. Benson doctrine is what the MAJORITY of Mormons live by. I would like to see you go to your church and criticize Benson. As mentioned I back my statements up with facts.
There are many reasons Mormons will not come forth even though they know of the corruption in the Mormon church. One is due to their belief in Mormon scripture which they associate with the Mormon church. The leadership has usurped power and authority over this scripture. Thus, the members of the Mormon church think that God expects them to support their misguided leaders. This is much the - rationalization that many Americans make about our government. They all know of the corruption, but rationalize that it is unpatriotic to talk against the government or ungrateful to complain when they enjoy superficial prosperity."
THE LINK BETWEEN BUSH FAMILY AND ROMNEY IS HENRY TAFT BENSON. CO FOUNDER OF THE RUSSEL TRUST aka. SKULLS N BONES SOCIETY.
Comment: Eddiewhere is a frustrated American lashing out here. His facts are twisted and he appears to have some ill feelings towards the Mormon religion. Time Magazine went to Salt Lake looking for corruption in the early 90's and was given full and unfettered access to all Church leaders and the books and couldn't find a thing. There is no corruption in the Mormon Church, just an unpaid ministry trying to bring Christ to the world. It may not be the same flavor of Christianity as many other religions, but nonetheless another flavor of Christianity. The Church has never supported a candidate and will not. The Mormon Church is sqeeky clean. Let's all pray for eddiewhere.
Comment: who is this eddiewhere guy with all of these random and immature comments? Im not even mormon and I feel like defending the idiotic comments made by this guy.......grow up kid
Comment: IT is OBVIOUS that the DEMCRATIC ESTABLISHMENT KNOWs THAT OBAMA is the CANDIDATE with the BEST CHANCE to win in NOVEMBER. EVERY statistic and poll supports this fact The DEMOCRATIC party cannot risk losing the WHITE HOUSE. The only obstacle standing in OBAMA's way is the LATINO VOTE.
THE CLINTON"S ARE JUST TO polarizing. Too many scandals, to many investigations. I do not believe they are guilty in all those scandals I just believe AMERICA needs a change from the establishment. We do not need a years worth of divisive campaigning. IT would be amazing to see McCain vs OBAMA. A GOOD CLEAN HEAVY WEIGHT FIGHT. NO ONE GETS THEIR EAR BIT OFF. A ROMNEY CAMpaign would be just like BUSH'S very divisive and full of lies. IF AMERICA CHOOSES THESE TWO CANDIDATES to represent their respective parties then I think the AMERICAN political process can begin to heal and set an example to the rest of the world. WHAT KIND OF MESSAGE ARE WE SENDING IRAQIS and AFGHANS. IF we promote racial divide why shoud they give us the benefit of the doubt concerning ABU GRADE and BLACK WATER. ARE WE REALLY RACIST CAN IT BE THAT THE CLINTON"S ARE A REFLECTION OF OUR SOCIETY. DIVIDE people so we the CLINTON'S can attain the power we are entitled too and so rightfully deserve after my conduct in the OVAL OFFICE. No one else is capable of being president. I will become nasty and play the race card because the "MEDIA" is trying to take away the presidency from me and my wife.
OBAMA HAS TO GAIN GROUND WITH THE LATINO VOTE. HE NEEDS TO BLITZ THE LATINO"S WITH COMMERCIALS OF ECONOMIC prosperity.
Comment: I'm LOVinG thE capsLOCK. IT REALY show us WHAT A GEnious you ARE.
Comment: I'm LOVinG thE capsLOCK. IT REALY show us WHAT A GEnius you ARE.
Comment: "So while McCain is entitled to his opinion when he says the Romney plan is "not very good," we suspect a lot of newly covered residents disagree."
While you're also purely guessing here on this "Factcheck" and even offering that state residents are "signing up" when the plan is actually mandatory to participate??
Isn't it a fact that if the individual does not "enroll" and pay the premium his state income taxes will be held or wages could be garnished with a penalty??
THEREFORE! Enrollment is merely a misnomer for compliance, submission....surrender.
Comment: Is it true that some people working at elections sites in Florida have let "independents" register at the last minute to vote in the election? Rush says that some independents reported that they have been allowed to register at the last minute and that they voted for "McCain." Will/Can these votes be contested?
Comment: Can someone help me understand what the freak is going on here? I do not know who to believe anymore. And I only partially believe any of them. To have gotten this far, they almost positively have had to lie, take bribes, or compromise, especially the most unscrupulous ones who want the White House as their throne to house the absolute ruling power of the Queen of America.
Comment: To put it simply, POWER CORRUPTS.
Comment: Here we have the lowest blows yet. Typical for the day of the primary. Please folks, if you're worried about the economy, vote for the candidate with real-world experience in trimming waste, balancing budgets, and restructuring bureaucracies. If we've ever needed that in our nation's history, it's now.
Comment: McCain has lined up next to Ted Kennedy and his liberal buddies over and over again, trying to grant amnesty to illegal aliens, and provide them with taxpayer funded benefits. That fact in itself should convince anyone with intelligence or patriotism to run the other way, and fast....
Comment: I don't understand why one would vote for a candidate simply because he would beat the Democrats.....that's is a cop out, and un-principled.
I don't care who you vote for, but for God's sakes, let it be someone you believe in.
Comment: read the factcheck
Comment: McCain will never be able to get the party behind him because he's way to closely tied to Kennedy and finegold and their liberal causes. I just noticed that three of the kennedys just threw their support behind him, he's just one more politican that bends with the wind and says whatever he thinks someone wants to hear
Comment: Check McCains claims in his latest neggitive ads about Romneys health care improvements in Mass, over 225,000 new members in it and in a poll of them mostly all were in favor of it.
Comment: It seems to me that McCain almost always slants things the way he wants them to be not necessarly the way they are. Think maybe he's been hanging around the kennedys too much?

John McCain will be another George Bush !!
America is about to stick their foot into it again !!!
Lies Lies and more Lies, sounds like Slick Willy and Venomous Hillary !!!!
Comment: I voted for Romney today!
I voted for Romney because I trust him.
Romney is right for America!
Comment: I think I will vote for a man who knows how to make money, not spend it..
Comment: Bottom line, nobody disputes the 17 points! Like the add says, with Romney we get a Democrat for President and then we all lose. We can't be certain that McCain will win but we all know that Romney will lose. I am certain McCain can beat Hillary but if Obama wins the nomination it might be difficult for even McCain to stop his momentum. Although, I think a McCain/Huckabee ticket would be our best chance. I'll be voting for McCain this afternoon.
Comment: I don't know what McCain and Huckabee have in common. Can someone explain that? They are on opposite sides of the Moral spectrum. They are both on the same side of the fiscal spectrum -- liberal. And as far as "national security" - Well, McCain at least served. Huckabee lost weight. What is the tie that binds? Is it because both are anti-Romney? And why do you want to vote for a ticket based solely on that? Or is that their anti-Romneyism is really more about being anti-Wealth and anti-Capitalist? Have those voters truly examined their own core values? I can understand certain elements of both McCain and of Huckabee. I just don't see how the same voter can like both of them simultaneously.
Comment: Mr. Romney is pursuing the presidency...just to be president. It's clear to anyone who can read his words, from his 1994 Senate race, to his 2002 race for Governor of Massachusetts, to his current campaign...that the man has no conviction...except to attaining the prize he seeks. He is the ultimate saleman...tell them what they want to hear. His pledge to the auto workers to not rest until he got all their jobs back was ridiculous...and insulting. He's an empty suit politically and only his shallowness equals his ambition. I heard it said that he is the 2008 version of Dave Draper, the advertising executive in Mad Men. Mr Romney is Dave Draper.

Comment: I find it interesting that MSNBC/Newsweek gave Romney almost twice as much airtime as McCain, and about 3 times as much as was given to Huckabee, Giuliani, and Paul in the last debate. Now we see this article that goes after McCain's negative ads. How about Romney's inaccurate ads? Anybody who says McCain is a hypocrite or a liar is either a liar or a moron theirself. Romney has really had at least 2 positions on every major issue in recent years. Romney will do or say ANYTHING to be prez. He is bad news. Also, he is another GOP Chickenhawk. He never served in the military, nor have any of his filthy rich children. We need to stop electing people who are that disgustingly rich, and only 'take' from America!
Comment: Talk about a "taker". . . McCain's salary has been all "take" from the taxpayer. Compare that to Romney's creating businesses that become taxpayers who feed into McCain's "TAKE."
Comment: So Romney nor any of his children served in the military. Big deal. I'm in the U.S, Air Force and I don't hold that against Romney or his kids. Did YOU serve in the military. If so, great. If not, that's great too. We can't all be in the military, can we? Someone has to man the factories and schools, right? And since when does someone HAVE to serve in the military to understand the basics of what their key responsibility is and how they carry it out?
Your comment that Romney "only takes" shows your ignorance of the kind of man he is. As a faithful member of the LDS church he willingly gives 10% of his income to his church. He's been widely reported to have made a personal fortune worth $250 - 300 million. That means he's given away anywhere from $25 to $30 MILLION. Yes, $25 to 30 million. That's just in tithing alone. Tithing is used to build churches and temples, pays for the electricity and other utility services those buildings consume, (if needed) it helps finance missionaries to spread the peaceful message of Christ throughout the world, and also pays for scriptures and other spiritually related documents to be printed and distributed. He has also likely paid what is known as "fast offerings" to the LDS church. These are funds saved from fasting (i.e., voluntarily skipping 2 meals a month) that instead of being used for food is donated to church leaders to care for the poor and needy in the local area. If the funds are not needed in Mr. Romney's immediate area they are sent to another nearby area who does need them. He's probably donated money to other charitable causes as well when requested by the LDS leadership like myself and millions of Latter-day Saints around the world do almost every week. See?, Romney isn't a "take" kind of person after all. Now you know!
Comment: does it offend troyCG@01/29/2008 2:06:03 PM that Mitt Romney has made a successful living? You call his children "filthy rich." Just like Chuck Norris last night claiming that Romney is going to "buy" the white house... and when Chuck was notified that Romney has raised the most money from other people, all Chuck could do was sneer and say "yeah, from his Capitalist friends...." as if that is a bad thing...
Are you a Communist? A Marxist? Do you ENVY Romney for his wealth? Do you wish McCain or Huckabee could be President so that they could TAKE that money away from Romney? Would you like it if all the Capitalists' money was redistributed to people like yourself? Just curious. Your choice of words and the tenor and tone of your HATRED for Romney due to his having "money" seems quite odd for a Conservative. This is America, not Venezuela, right?
Also, just curious... did Huckabee serve in the military? What about Giulliani? Does that truly disqualify someone if they don't serve in the military? Should that be required? Does the Constitution require it? You do realize that our best "war-hero" presidents were the ones who were commanding generals in wartime. Like David Petraeus is a commanding general. You see, those are people who understand not just the "tactical" elements, but also the bigger picture, like strategy, and even geopolitics. They have to be able to function properly and effectively. Let me know about your hatred for Mitt's "money" and if you agree with Chuck Norris' contempt for "Capitalists" - I know a Democrat is running who might like your vote...
Comment: Again we seem to let emotional/religious/racial/sexist bigotry interfere with making intelligent decisions about our selection of presidential candidates. It does not matter whether or not Joseph Smith was a prophet or a charlatan. What matters is whether or not a candidate is an honest, ethical, and moral person, and whether or not he/she has the intelligence, the experience, and the leadership to be our president. All candidates in both parties have qualities that might allow them to lead our country, but it is our job to determine who "most likely" will deal with our problems and with events that might occur in the future. Is McCain the best on defense, or is he too inexperienced with the economy? Is Barack the most inspiring new politician, or will his lack of business/administrative experience be a problem? Doe Hilary have good social programs, or will her reputation for antagonizing some groups prevent her from being an effective leader. Our job is not to elect a "black", a "woman", a "pastor or bishop", a "Mormon, Catholic, Muslim, or Jew". Our job is to select the person who has the best chance of dealing with all of our issues: the economy, national security, immigration, health care, etc. I personally am looking for that moderate candidate who will try to serve the vast majority of Americans, most of whom are "moderate" and "tolerant" in their views. Despite extensive claims of position changes, etc., I am impressed with Romney's training (MBA and Law degrees from Harvard), his business experience (Bain Capital), his administrative expertise (the Utah Olympics were in serious trouble before he took over, and they ended up being quite profitable), and his experience in government (as Governor of Massachusetts). Whether or not his "health care plan" in MA will ultimately prove successful, it is worthy of note that at least he had a plan that actually is in effect. Perhaps others are as well-qualified, and if so, let's hear more about their qualities, and let's be done with the mean, devisive, and dishonest campaigning that is so common today.
Comment: I wholeheartedly agree that if a program's effectiveness is probably a couple of years away from assessing then it seems foolish to say "the results are in!" I was also terribly disappointed when I read in the article that McCain quotes a poll that supposedly found that Hillary would beat Romney nationally by 16 points and then he (McCain) blatantly encourages voters to vote for him just because he says he, and not Romney, is the only one capable of beating Hillary. Talk about pandering! That sticks in my craw because essentially what McCain is doing is saying to voters "If you like Romney, abandon your conscience and vote for me because I'M a winner". That's why I've always hated exit polls! Elections are supposed to be about people investigating the candidates and the issues, deciding who THEY feel is best and then voting for them, NOT "well I was gonna vote for candidate so-and-so but somebody else told me that if I vote for him I'll be voting for a loser so I'll switch my vote". Folks, that isn't a true democracy in action. A true democracy is when the intent OF THE PEOPLE is reflected in the vote and not just the intent of someone else! If you like McCain, vote McCain. If you like Romney, vote Romney, but don't vote for McCain just because McCain tells you Romney can't defeat the Democrats.
Comment: Dan, you are right on!!! The polling process should just be abolished . . . it has too much of an affect on many peoples decision making. I might add that if you were to look at the polls 6 months ago one would conclude that Obama would lose and Clinton would 'easily' win. Here we are now and this isn't necessarily the case!!! So even though Romney may be behind right now it is months before the actual election and there are many things that could happen before then, so the polling for that election and drawing conclusions is 'extremely' premature.
Comment: Has anyone examined what Mitt Romney achieved with the Salt Lake City 2002 Winter Olympics? He needed more skills that just those of a private-sector business executive. The 2002 Olympics was about to go down in world history as a major debacle due to financial scandal. Romney took over the mess, and the 2002 Games ended up being the first in many decades to generate an economic surplus for its hosting city. This was only four months after 9/11. No one should minimize his skills in international relations and national security. If anyone can turn around the mess in Washington, Romney can.

Comment: McCain lying and twisting again. He's gone too far. He's always on the wrong side of the fence when it comes to his decisions in politics. How do we dare put him in office. He is old Washington as it gets--he will never beat a democrat in a million years. He's also temperamental and has an aggressive military stance on Iran that will likely put us into another war. McCain is a catastrophic choice. Let's pick someone for president who is honest, and upright, and who actually has management skills for once. Romney will shake up the Whitehouse, fuel the economy, bring about innovations, and keep our country strong. He is a once-in-a-lifetime candidate!

Comment: Anyone ever question the maverick about why he didn't secure the border in Arizona if that is his big focus. If national security is the big focus, why didn't he make our country safer by addressing all ot the unknowns crossing into the U.S through Arizona. Crime dog McGruff has lost his badge!
Comment: Romney follows the tenants of a madman in Mormonism. And everyone defends him saying that anyone who calls a spade a spade is a bigot. Joseph Smith was a criminal and a deviant. And Romney's faith is just a personal thing? One man's opinion? No. One man's insanity. Dump Romney for the love of God. Show some brains.
Comment: aterr: history has already judged Joseph Smith and found him to have made a significant positive impact on the world. The Mormon religion has done exceptional good in the world and will continue to do so. I have never seen a Christian relgion so dedicated to the ways of Christ as I have seen Mormons. If that is what Joseph Smith created then he was a great man. Show some intelligence here - pick somehting else to write about. Stick to the issues.
Comment: You are the one without brains. Apparently you don't know anything about Mormonism. You listen to and believe trash instead of studying things out for yourself. Writing things like this show only one man's insanity--yours!
Comment: Anyone reading your text "aterr" would be able to read between the lines who the real madman is!
Comment: "aterr" - I will call you on that. You say that Joseph Smith was a criminal and a deviant. You are certainly entitled to your opinion. Allowing us to choose our attitudes and opinions is a God-given right and I will not try to take that away from you. However, I am entitled to my opinion as well. That is that Joseph Smith was a good and decent man; a man who certainly did many things "different", no doubt, but MANY men you are probably familiar with in the Bible did things "different" and were undoubtedly criticized in the process: Noah built a massive ark when his surrounding country-side was dry, Moses said he talked face to face with God and carried stone tablets down from a mountain, Joshua walked around a city (Jericho) for seven days without uttering a sound, the Apostle Paul preached the Gospel of Jesus Christ relentlessly among the Jews and Gentiles (certainly "different" for that day and time), etc. Stop being so hateful and look at what kind of influence Mitt's religion has had on him; he has a strong marriage to the same wife for 35+ years (that is OBVIOUSLY something easier said than done), has helped raised 5 productive children who sincerely love their mother and father, has made millions in the business world WITHOUT being accused of any wrong-doing while making it (can you say "no ENRON debacle here?"), loves his country and generally campaigns a message of fiscal and moral conservatism. And yet for all this Romney is judged by you and much of the media as "insane". If that's "insane", sign me up.

Comment: aterr @ 01/29/2008 12:32:28 PM Do you actually KNOW anything about The Church of Jesus Christ of Latterday Saints? Or are you just going by all the negative comments you have heard from others who don't know anything either. Maybe you shoould find out for yourself!
Comment: Please don???t refer to the Church of JESUS CHRIST of Latter-day saints in that manner. You are a mouth opener and not a book opener. Joseph Smith was martyred as a criminal and so were other prophets including CHRIST himself. The Church of JESUS CHRIST of Latter-day saints didn???t burn people at the stake for witchcraft like some organizations did. They didn???t start the Crusades or the Spanish Inquisition like a well known church did. So please learn a little about the ???other churches??? before you start talking about things you don???t understand.
The Church of JESUS CHRIST of Latter-day saints were chased across the country by mobs of other religious groups who murdered them, raped there women and killed their children in front of their families so while you are living in a glass house please don???t throw stones. And if you aren???t religious then why do you care? And if you don???t belong to any of those groups then you are just broken off of them.
Go Mitt Romney. He is the man that can win it all so wake up America or we will end up with Billary or Obama Bin Laden. McCain cant beat them but Romney can. So if you want higher taxes and an immigration or terrorist problem then please vote for McCain so whoever the Dem candidate is can crush him like a bug.
Comment: Are most of the bigots now supporting McCain instead of Huckabee? Here's a question to all you "Christian Conservatives" out there who rallied for Huckabee due to his "moral compass" and now are rallying for John McCain (against Romney) --- do you know that McCain cheated on his wife who was disabled in an accident? Did you know that he married his wealthy mistress after that? Did you know that McCain has not always stood on the side of Pro-Life either? You all rush madly (Chuck norris included) to condemn Romney as a "flip-flopper" as if saying it makes it true, simply because he has grown more conservative over time. He hasn't gone backwards to beingl iiberal. He has simply become more conservative over time.. But none of you seem to care that McCain has gone back and forth, back and forth on multiple issues in the same year. I don't know if McCain is against the bill for amnesty he sponsored, or for it -- he drafted the bill in 2007, and now he's slamming it... Talk about a flip-flop. But more importantly -- do you care that McCain is a philanderer? For all you who supported Huckabee claiming it was his morals, now you support McCain for the same reason? No, according to aterr@1/29/2008 12:32:28 PM, it is pretty clear that the majority of you who supported Huckabee AND support McCain simultaneously are only being consistent in one aspect -- you are anti-Romney. Because he has been faithfully married to a single woman the whole time? No. Because he has raised his children to be morally straight? No. Because he has "seen the light" and become more and more pro-life as he ages? No. (The most unforgiving voters are the "christian" conservatives). No, the only reason you are anti-Romney is because you are anti-Mormon. And that's what I call a bigot. I hope McCain and Huckabee absorb ALL the bigot votes... and then the GOP throws that wing of the party OUT. YOu can join Billary as the Democrats throw that wing of the party out of their tent. And you sets of BIGOTS can create you own third party -- the BIGOT party.
Comment: amen my man
Comment: Amen
Comment: It appears that in everyone's blog or opinion, h/she is never fails to mention that McCain was a war hero. It is good to appreciate his service to his country, but as far a being a hero, please. He is no more of a hero than the millions of others that have served their country in combat. However, the point being, people are no doubt in the mood for and will be voting for change. How can one vote for McCain after he being 27 yrs. involved as the problem as a Congressman? And running on the platform as a war HAWK, not only wanting to stay 100 yrs. in IRAQ if necessary, but the lead singer in Bomb! Bomb! Bomb, Bomb! Bomb! Iran. Sorry John, you really need to turn the "Straight Talk Express" around and head for the nearest retirement home in Arizona. Oh, bye the way...He also participated in the group singing, "you'll wonder where the yellow went, when the H-Bomb hits the Orient." Refering of course to our troubles with N. Korea. Bringem' On John !
Comment: The more I hear the hatred and desperation spew from McCain, the more I can't stand him. And who wants his "other woman" in the White House with him....not me. McCain has always been a liberal leaner, and I will never cast a vote for him in this or any election. Romney is by far the most competent, intellingent, workaholic-like, and conservative candidate we have. I hope the people of Florida know that there are many of us who will vote for Barack before we would ever vote for a liar like McCain.
Comment: This is politics at its worse. Always twisting facts. How pathetic! McCain is a phony. Mitt's right--Washington is broken. Florida votes Romney!!!
Comment: Two words: Keating Five.
Comment: Walnuts McCain is taking this to a level I had hoped he would avoid. That does it - I have switched my allegiance from Walnuts to Mitt.
Comment: McCain is a great war hero, but he is grasping air here. Romney has done more to promote positive change than McCain. Romney is intelligent and a great communicator. He is a leader who is strong in the economic, defense and values areas. It is not hard to see he is more conservative than McCain. I'm guessing that is why the NY Times endorses McCain - he is liberal.
Comment: The idea behind previous posts that one candidate or another can not be trusted is somewhat disparaging to the people who voted for them as a Governor/Senator. I don't think that they were idiots for voting for these men. As such, are they perfect? Are politics perfect? Get real about the way we look at them. Slamming either one will not help to understand the work that they will do. I'm a Floridian and have voted. What you say about people is a conscious effort to create the conditions we have in our country. Make sure we can live with the type of environment we create. Right now it is semi-chaos in Florida. Good luck with your personal role in this aspect of citizenship. Oh, and I voted for Romney but wish McCain and Romney the best of work that they both can do.
Comment: Mitt Romney can not be trusted. He will say anything and pay anything to win. Look at these 3 videos. Romney has someone telling him what to say. And yes, the prompts are in the original video feed. Romney's cheating tells us a lot about his character. I want a president that has integrity and Romney proves here he does not. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0NlIMQ31EjY , http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7wfWDOxZkEM , http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zK408oqEyOU

Comment: Give me a break! McCain is the one who can't be trusted. His wife was addicted to painkillers she was tealing from her own charitable organization. She was supposed to be convicted for this crime. But guess who pulled some strings to get her off. That's right Mr. Trustworthy McCain. Is this really the guy you won't to be your president. A vote for Mccain is a vote for the staus quo, same old Washington. If you want something new and better to be done in Washington, especially about the economy then vote for Mitt Romney. As for me I have never voted for a democratic candidate in all my life, but if McCain gets the republican nomination, then I will be voting for Hillary.
Comment: McCain is just a liar. Nothing else. He is breaking his own bill, the McCain Feingold bill by making such egregious lies.
Comment: McCain is such a sleeze ball. I cant believe his hipocrisy, it is astounding. How can you swear off negative adds and then use them at the next opportune moment. This is not the type of guy that we need running our country. Imagine him negotiating with other nations. He wont stop to think about dipolmacy, he will jump in their faces and threaten with out military plunging us further into debt and damaging our reputation even more in the international community.
