Wow, Holly that was such a great comment was it worth the typing? I've seen you on other boards your bigotry doesn't eanr you a thing, just makes you look like a fool. Oh, to make sure that you don't twist my words. (Like normal) big·ot·ry /??b??g??tri/ Pronunciation Key - Show Spelled Pronunciation[big-uh-tree] Pronunciation Key - Show IPA Pronunciation
???noun, plural -ries. 1. stubborn and complete intolerance of any creed, belief, or opinion that differs from one's own. 2. the actions, beliefs, prejudices, etc., of a bigot. Thats from dictionary.com.
I just wish that Mccain would answer a question. "There's been a lot of discussion lately about the importance of leadership and management experience. What makes you more qualified than Mitt Romney, a successful CEO and businessman, to manage our economy?
MCCAIN: Because I know how to lead. I know how to lead.I led the largest squadron in the United States Navy. And I did it out of patriotism, not for profit. And I can hire lots of managers, but leadership is a quality that people look for. Mccain has said himself he has no clue about the economy but he makes this easy to tell because he starts with war experience. To be a leader you must know where you are going . On this issue McCain explain that he has no clue. If Mitt wanted to profit, he wouldn't have entered the race. He can make more money that the President with his companies and ideas. Here's another example. HOOK: Senator McCain, let me just take the issue to you, because you obviously have been very involved in it. During this campaign, you, like your rivals, have been putting the first priority, heaviest emphasis on border security. But your original immigration proposal back in 2006 was much broader and included a pathway to citizenship for illegal immigrants who were already here.

What I'm wondering is -- and you seem to be downplaying that part. At this point, if your original proposal came to a vote on the Senate floor, would you vote for it?
MCCAIN: It won't. It won't. That's why we went through the debate...
      HOOK: But if it did?
MCCAIN: No, it would not, because we know what the situation is today. The people want the border secured first. And so to say that that would come to the floor of the Senate -- it won't. We went through various amendments which prevented that ever -- that proposal. A straight forward question 2xs and he sidesteps it both times. Explain why this is.

Seen the new national poll numbers? In a two person contest of McCain and Romney the results say it all. McCain-62% Romney-20%. I've said it before-if you so badly want Mitt in a position of authority, put him in charge of the Mormon "baptize a dead Jew" program.

Thank you Florida for telling the world someone can't just come in and buy your vote, your integrity. Congratulations to McCain. It's been a long time coming and you deserve it. I was so proud of you standing up there last night just beaming. I cried for your success and out of relief that all of our dedication and hard work is paying off. We were behind you when it was looking bad for us and we'll be there to the end. Thank you to all those who endorsed and fought beside us. Mr. McCain, I am proud of you and proud to be a part of Mac is back!! Tricia, Charlotte, NC.

Why would you be so upset that Romney's spending his own money to get his word out there? I mean he made it in the business world but you feel thats not right to spend....I cried reading the transcript and how he didn't even anwer the question that was asked twice.

The fact that most hardline Republicans don't like McCain is enough for him to get my vote. Democrats for McCain!

Some facts about John McCain -

Founding Member of the Keating Five
Back in the old days, defendants in famous trials got numbers -- the Chicago Eight, the Gang of Four, the Dave Clark Five, the Daytona 500. McCain was one of the "Keating Five," congressmen investigated on ethics charges for strenuously helping convicted racketeer Charles Keating after he gave them large campaign contributions and vacation trips.
Charles Keating was convicted of racketeering and fraud in both state and federal court after his Lincoln Savings & Loan collapsed, costing the taxpayers $3.4 billion. His convictions were overturned on technicalities; for example, the federal conviction was overturned because jurors had heard about his state conviction, and his state charges because Judge Lance Ito (yes, that judge) screwed up jury instructions. Neither court cleared him, and he faces new trials in both courts.)

Though he was not convicted of anything, McCain intervened on behalf of Charles Keating after Keating gave McCain at least $112,00 in contributions. In the mid-1980s, McCain made at least 9 trips on Keating's airplanes, and 3 of those were to Keating's luxurious retreat in the Bahamas. McCain's wife and father-in-law also were the largest investors (at $350,000) in a Keating shopping center; the Phoenix New Times called it a "sweetheart deal."
    Mafia ties:
In 1995, McCain sent birthday regards, and regrets for not attending, to Joseph "Joe Bananas" Bonano, the head of the New York Bonano crime family, who had retired to Arizona. Another politician to send regrets was Governor Fife Symington, who has since been kicked out of office and convicted of 7 felonies relating to fraud and extortion.

    Family Problems
McCain has a reputation as a politician who has difficulty keeping his pants zipped, according to Republican sources. He acknowledges that his adultery broke up his first marriage. His second wife Cindy, the daughter of a wealthy Budweiser beer distributor, was addicted to prescription narcotics and even stole hard drugs from a medical charity that she ran. McCain acknowledges that she didn't want him to run, and only agreed once he promised that she doesn't have to go to New Hampshire or Iowa.

Can't put a lot of stock in the rational behavior of Floridians. They have some of the worst school systems in the country because the seniors out there won't support the bond measures. And yet, with this huge senior (and sick) population, they have some of the worst healthcare in the country. And let's not forget how easily the Dems convinvenced them that they had a voting issue in 04...

The last thing we need in this country is another confused disconnected old guy from the vietnam era making decisions about how we should guide this country into the future. Guys like mccain and bush are always trying to figure out how to go backwards rather than forwards i.e. the last 8 years.... We have to have a young progressive thinker i'm sick of wars, stop with the warring you freakin old people, us young people have better things to do with our time like solve the problems you old idiots keep creating. WE DON'T CARE YOU WERE IN VIETNAM. Everything is a dam travesty with you walter(mccain) -Lebowski

I am amazed at the contempt that the "conservatives are showing for McCain! Clearly he is the best choice among the Republican candidates. Because he doesn't bow to the pressures of the party and votes his own mind makes him a solid man and a candidate who can unite this country! I am equally surprised at all of the Reagan references. There has not been a candidate who fills his shoes since him. If the Republican party is dying it is not McCain's fault!

    • Posted By: HolyRoller @ 01/30/2008 10:14:49 PM

Good post-I think that real Americans see in John McCain a leader who will always put his nation first. Not his extreme party elements. McCain will win fairly easily, and in the general election he will receive many party line exodus votes from moderate Dems. Especially the military and sr. citizen vote.

      • Posted By: dewcooper @ 01/31/2008 9:48:45 AM

As an un-real American, by your definition, I have seen McCain sell out his country for Vietnam and now for Mexico. Which country does he put first again?

      • Posted By: Dan Maloy @ 01/30/2008 11:37:14 PM

"HolyRoller", you said below that you had been a Guliani supporter until he dropped out and now here you are singing McCain's praises. You constantly berate your dreaded Romney for flip-flopping but you're doing it now. Nice consistency......

    • Posted By: dewcooper @ 01/31/2008 8:45:25 AM

You don't unite a country by cow-towing to the other side and calling it 'bipartisanship'. McCain did this with Kerry over Vietnam, turning his back on the POWs and MIAs, and he is doing it now with illegal immagration. Why is a former member of the Mexican government on McCain's advisory panel?

You join a political party because you agree with its platform, not because you dispise it. If McCain has to be pressured byt the perty to toe the line, maybe he should change sides. I would respect McCain more if he just switched to the Dems or became an Independent like Lieberman. Instead, I can't help but look at him and think of the Manchurian candidate...

A politician once remarked, being a POW doesn't make you an expert on the Vietnam War, just an expert on being a POW. Just as fighting with the President does not give you the experience of being the president...

Has anyone heard if Ron Paul is going to run third party. I have ALWAYS voted Republican. But, I will not, under any circumstances, vote for John McCain in the general election. I will ONLY vote against him, even if it means it helps the dems. I do not care at this point. John McCain is no better than Hillary or Obama Hussein. I am sick of listening to the MSM talk about how the conservatives will support Mccain in the general election so they could win. WRONG!!!!! He will not energize the base. He will lose. I am looking forward to seeing that smirk wiped off his face.

    • Posted By: aad135 @ 01/30/2008 2:10:22 PM

I completely agree with you, McCain will not energize the conservative base, his nomination will disenfranchise them. As a conservative and definately Reagan Republican, I will not vote for McCain.

      • Posted By: ara9557 @ 01/30/2008 6:58:06 PM

Ron Paul as an option... What have you been smoking? Ron Paul is a fine gentlemen, but his views are more on the Democratic line then Republican. His mistake was not running against Billary and Obama. Your statement that McCain will not energize the base is far off base because what choice do conservatives have. If Billary is the nominee, this will energize the base. Take it easy on the motah
        my friend..

        • Posted By: dewcooper @ 01/31/2008 9:17:50 AM

You may wan't to look at what the Libertarians stand for. Can't see how abolishing the IRS (the Dems cash cow) aligns Paul with Obama and Hillary. Now McCain on the other hand - Dem Lite...

  • Posted By: dewcooper @ 01/31/2008 8:35:00 AM

Read an interesting statement, paraphrased, that McCain and Hillary are so similar, that those Reps who support McCain are better off voting for Hillary. That way, when She srews up the country in the same manner as McCain, the Reps won't get the blaim this time. Makes a lot of sense...

  • Posted By: Foxy @ 01/30/2008 10:41:25 PM

    I voted for Romney
when I reached the review page in the voting machine it was Mc Cain that I had picked!!
I went back and voted again for Romney. Rush Limbaugh reported a similar incident..
The Voting machines were rigged for McCain in Florida.

McCain won because he is a cheap, below the belt trickster!!! (Please, America, read the whole post!....)

In reference to his claim that Romney wanted "timetables" to leave Iraq, MCCAIN COMPLETELY AND REPEATEDLY IGNORES THE ENTIRE CONTEXT OF ROMNEY'S QUOTE AND THEREFORE THE TRUE INTENT OF ROMNEY'S STATEMENT. Romney said he thought that Pres. Bush and the Iraqi government should have secret "benchmarks" (in other words, "goals") that would lead to the U.S. finally getting out of Iraq. Who doesn't want to get out of Iraq at some point? Even McCain wants out eventually. How in the heck does anyone think that they can successfully get from point A to point B without goals? Get real!, you don't even go to the bathrooom without "goals". First, you get up off the couch. Next, you walk to the kitchen. After that, you pass through the laundry room and into the bathroom. ANY leader of ANY organization HAS to have benchmarks or goals to be successful. The U.S military already had "benchmarks" in place BEFORE they dropped the first bomb in Iraq in 2003. And.....McCain knows full well as a former U.S. Navy officer that one of the very FIRST things he'll do if elected President is sit down with his Secretary of Defense, the military Joint Chiefs of Staff and the top U.S. military officer in Iraq and discuss the "benchmarks" in Iraq, as in, "Gen Paetreus, how the heck are we doing on our goals in Iraq?" That stinks to high heaven of hypocrisy by McCain. Beside those points, McCain completely ignored the second part of Romney's "benchmark" comment! Which is, IMMEDIATELY after Romney spoke about having benchmarks he was asked if he were elected President would he veto a bill that proposed a "get out of Iraq date" AND ROMNEY UNEQUIVOCABLY SAID "YES!" How are both parts of Romney's answer compatible? Because all he was saying was "let's set some goals (secret ones, he said, so that the enemy would not know our steps) to get out of Iraq but if the goals prove to be unrealistic, we'll have to set new ones and STAY UNTIL THE JOB IS DONE!" McCain knows this but is so desperate that he'll smear a man's reputation to get elected. As an active duty U.S. Air Force pilot I admire McCain's military service but his integrity and class have been severely diminished by the lie that he is whole-heartedly perpetuating. Is that the kind of man you want leading YOUR country?

Aside from being yet another MSM paean to St. McCain, who it the world, other than a middle schooler trying to look clever, would put "another nail in the grave" into an article? Doesn't anyone edit these children anymore? Good ol' Straight Talker won largely because he went negative and badly distorted Romney's positions--tactics that every other ordinary politician usually resorts to when desperate.

    • Posted By: HolyRoller @ 01/30/2008 8:07:17 AM

Sorry you feel that the Temple Prostitutes positions got distorted. Which ones? His positions change as quickly as his cults doctrines do. HEY MITT-MONEY CAN'T BUY THE US CONSTITUTION.

All I have heard for the last month is that McCain cannot win in a republican only pimary. Based on SC and NH I would have had to agree with people. But tonights win in FL proves us all wrong. McCain will be the nominee, not only can he win with republicans but he can win with independents, swing dems, and he has the latino vote. McCain vs either Hillary or Obama, close but he will come out on top!

I was saddened at a video of a Florida voter saying: ??? I didn???t vote for Romney because he is a Mormon.??? Many recognize that Romney has talent, brains, education and experience, yet are willing to let religion restrict their vision. I???ve just heard of a man in San Diego whose home was burned in the San Diego fires, leaving a large stump. A neighbor came to help and brought his dad along, dressed in Levi???s and a T shirt. As the homeowner watched Mitt Romney and son attack the stump with a chain saw, sweat pouring from their foreheads, he was amazed that a presidential candidate would take time out of his busy schedule to help someone he didn't know.
This was no media photo op, but just an example of Christlike service. All the candidates profess their faith is important to them, but actions sometimes speak louder than words. By your fruits ye shall know them.

I am amazed at how upset many of the "conservatives" are over McCain being the front runner! Clearly he is a better candidate for America than any other Republican on the ticket. WE as a nation need to unite, and he is the best Republican to make that happen. I am also amazed at all of the Reagan talk. What Republican besides Reagan was in this mold. The Republican party may be dying but it is not McCain's fault!

  • Posted By: aad135 @ 01/30/2008 2:07:03 PM

It is interesting how on just about every news channel and web article have declared that the GOP finally has a clear front-runner for the nomination. Clear front runner? Prior to Florida, Romeny held a +34 count in delegates. After Flordia, McCain no holds a +23 count in delegates; is there something wrong with this analysis, but McCain now holds a smaller lead than Romney did prior to Florida, yet the liberal-media never declared Romney the front-runner. This should enlighten the massses that McCain is a liberal in sheep's clothing. A McCain nomination ensures a liberal in the White House, whether Democrat or Republican. There is a reason McCain appears viable to the moderates and right leaning Democrats, because that is what he is..! I fully acknowledge the statement made by Rush Limbaugh that a McCain nomination will be the end of the Republican party as we know it. I'm sure Reagan is rolling over in his grave...
