Hillary Clinton was a good first lady, and a strong politician, but she is too divisive and polarizing, a 5yr old knows that. CONSEQUENTLY, HILLARY CAN NOT WIN IN NOVEMBER, IF SHE IS THE DEM CANDIDATE, MCCAIN WILL BE THE PRESIDENT. HER GENDER CARD AND EXPERINCE BULL WILL NOT SELL AGAINST MCCAIN.

HILLARY IS JUST LIKE MCCAIN...IRAQ, IRAN, LAST GENERATION MENTALITY, etc, BILL EVEN SAID SO. THE SAD PART IS THAT PEOPLE WILL RATHER GO WITH THE REAL MCCAIN THAN A MCCAIN WANNABE!!!

WE COMPLETELY SUPPORT SENATOR AND TWO TIME FIRST LADY HILLARY CLINTON!who has graciously with stood all the biased media attacks on a white woman, (wich is disgusting)the media fighting obamas battles for him because he has no substance and merit! she is HANDS DOWN the stronger candidate WHO IS ABLE AND PROVEN SHE CAN FIGHT THE BATTLES AND WILL GET THINGS DONE FOR ALL AMERCIANS NOT JUST BLACK VOTERS ( like obama camp)! Who else on earth has tolerated the unbelievable lies and attacks and spins then Hillay and still she fights on for the middle class, she takes her licks and keeps going un like obama who keeps hiding behind the likes of oprah and now old crazy guy teddy. Who cares what caroline says. She now has clout? for what?

The Kennedys have been nothing but disgraceful scandles in the last 25 years, relatives accused of murders, rapes etc and that gives the Kennedy name clout? Don't think so... Ted Kennedy is now go headed for a disgraceful end. The Massachusetts senator has been caught in a sneaky plot to kill a clean-energy project in Nantucket Sound. Seems he doesn't want to see wind turbines from his waterfront estate. "Don't you realize -- that's where I sail!" he famously said.
The Obama campaign has criticized Hillary Clinton's candidacy as another example of dynastic politics. But now that Obama is playing adopted son of the Kennedy clan, that argument falls apart. Kennedy mystique Is so much JUST hot air. OBAMA IS A JOKE

If Hillary doesn't win, I will vote Republican for sure. I am happy with Huckabee, McCain, or Romney at this point. I will not vote an inexperienced candidate into office whatsoever. Sorry, but there are plenty of Dems and moderates who are willing to side with another 4 years of a Republican if Hillary doesn't get the nominaiton. Democrats will have lost the opportunity to regain the White House because a lot of people don't trust Obama. He's definitely a slick willy.

I think the loss of John Edwards is significant. He did not take money from PAC's and big corps and yet the media hardly gave him the time of day. How do we ever expect the good guys to have a shot? Is a political office truly going to be purchased from now on?

      yes

      • Posted By: Indie17 @ 01/31/2008 3:32:22 AM

Well, no, otherwise Romney would win. Money does play a part, but the rise of Obama and McCain proves that it's not all that counts.

I'm having a really hard time accepting that Americans are really this stupid. I don't care that a drunk, problem Kennedy is endorsing Obama, or Oprah or that Chuck Norris is backing Huckabee. I am voting for Hillary, not because she is a woman, or white or is backed by Barbra Streisand. I am voting for her because she makes sense. she has the experience that none of these candidates come close to. I have been a Madonna fan for 25 years. if she decided th back Obama, who cares. good for her. Get a mind of your own. learn about which candidate is right for the ideals you want. Don;t vote for them because they are the same color as you or have celebrity backing! just vote!

    • Posted By: rsjIII @ 01/30/2008 1:27:55 PM

I am repeatedly confounded by those that point out Hilary's "experience". Being the wife of a politician or even the first lady does not translate into experience. No one would be comfortable have the mechanics wife fix their car just as my wife cannot perform surgery for me simply because we've been married for 15years. My wife may know more abourt the medical field than others but that does not mean she is qualified to be a physician. I believe Clinton and Obama have been in the senate aorund the same length of time so please explain to me where the notion of Hillary's "experience" comes into play. The republicans are licking there chops at the prospect of Hillary being the nominee and with McCain the likely challenger they would have a very realistic shot a defeating her. A Hilary victory would only guarantee years of political rancor and quagmire as no compromise or agreements could ever be reached because of the ever present hatred for them the republicans possess. I believe in a lot of her ideas and platforms but believe they would only remain ideas because the political process does not lend itself to dictatorships,

Well said, and I agree. My Mother and I have been talking about this all last year. I am so happy to see that there is another possibility other than HIllary.

Howard, seriously, "[Obama] is posied to take the lead"?

He just lost in FL by 17, he is down by 23 in NY, 18 in NJ, 11 in CA, 20 in MO. He is trending at about 25% of the non-African American vote.

Also, after the Kennedy announcement the tracking polls virtually stayed unchanged (1pt up for Obama) so that would suggest his largest endorsement had no significant impact.

You really need to actually analyze rather than just prognosticate.

    • Posted By: Indie17 @ 01/31/2008 3:23:52 AM

Check the latest 3-day Gallup poll, and you will see that Clinton's national lead has been reduced to 6%. Obama has the momentum, as he is moving up in the polls very quickly.

  • Posted By: cayugabooks @ 01/30/2008 12:54:57 PM

The vast majority of Edwards supporters were low income white males, families and union members. Obama's elitist liberal set , along with support from the African-Americans, does not quite fit. Clinton probably will pick up two for everyone of Barack's from Edward's supporters. Obama's has had a problem with middle class and low income white voters in the exit polling, namely beacuse Obama talks about the Iraq war and a limited health care plan and raising payroll taxes. None of those things they support. He could not run as Vice President, having been treated disasterously by John Kerry's (who Edwards I am told hates Kerry and thinks he's a blowhard and a loser) moronic campaign. Kerry is one of Obama's biggest advisors and spokesperson. He snubbed Edwards when Kerry asked for it before the campaign began.

    • Posted By: Indie17 @ 01/31/2008 3:20:12 AM

I do not think most of the Iowa voters would appreciate you calling them elite liberals. It is true that Obama tends to attract the educated, however.

  • Posted By: Dems2008 @ 01/30/2008 1:07:43 PM

It does not make sense to me that Edwards supporters will move the the Clinton camp. Edwards' platform was mostly about drastic change in Washington - stopping the influence of PACs and lobbyists. I agree with that as a primary goal, but I have never heard Hillary utter a single word about reducing PAC/lobbyist influence. And why would she, when she accepts so much of their money as campaign contributions?
I really think that Edwards ultimately will throw his support behind Obama, because the two of them are more aligned with each other under the theme of change, and I think Edwards knows Obama will bring greater fundamental change than Hillary wants to.
And to those who think Obama is contradicting himself, think again. He isn't associating with the Kennedy family; It's the Kennedy family associating themselves with Obama because he represents the very same type of progressive, positive change that John and Robert Kennedy represented.

    • Posted By: Indie17 @ 01/31/2008 3:11:58 AM

Well said, and I hope you are right about Edwards. We should know soon if he plans to support anyone. I'm not sure what is in that brilliant mind of his, and I am not sure what he wants. Attorney General has been talked about.

  • Posted By: herbiemax @ 01/30/2008 1:11:25 PM

John Edwards was in this race for two reasons, 1. His wife wanted him to run and when she was diagnosed with the return of cancer she encouraged him to continue, because although she was losing her battle with cancer she knows that many do not have any hope from the first diagnosis of cancer because they can not get treatment. And she wants everyone to have hope. 2. He knows the struggle of MOST americans to make ends meet and how in the past years those that have grown in wealth is the to 1/10 of the top 1% of americans and despite what we hear about those welfare people the people recieving the most welfare from the american tax dollar is the ultra wealthy.( FREE LUNCH) If you notice those voting for Obama are the wealthy and the young college students , neither of them have been touched by the multi recessions of the Bush era's. The reason John Edwards is dropping out will be revealed by the endorsement he gives. Will he be loyal to his wife or to the draw of power?

    • Posted By: Indie17 @ 01/31/2008 3:06:09 AM

Others voting for Obama include this middle-class, over 50, single white Southern woman. Many people are seriously reviewing the candidates and their platforms before choosing.

After the stunt Clinton, pulled in Florida, Its hard to believe John Edwards or any one else would endorse her. If she lied and did not even hold her end of the agreement, not to campaign in Florida.
Its very hard to believe she will not lie, cheat, and steal from the American people. Her display with that speech after the polls had closed was nothing short of disgusting. But then what would you expect from a Clinton

      Ditto!

      • Posted By: mikewvan @ 01/30/2008 2:14:18 PM

You couldn't be more off base! Clinton never campaigned in Florida. She simply thanked the Florida voters for their unaminous support of her. The Florida vote totaled more than all the previous state primaries. A extremely strong turnout by Florida voters and strong statement of support as well!

        • Posted By: Indie17 @ 01/31/2008 3:00:09 AM

Clinton announced plans for the Florida celebration on Sunday, the same day she held a trio of fundraisers in Florida and accepted the endorsement of the Miami mayor while pressing some flesh for the cameras. On Monday, her campaign claimed the endorsement of Sen. Bill Nelson of Florida, while pro-Clinton unions continued sending out mailings in her support.

All of this sounded suspiciously like campaigning. But aides said they were merely trying to protect the people of Florida who, despite the campaign's "scrupulous" refusal to campaign in the state, showed up to vote for Clinton anyway.

Dude, are you serious. I love how people count Hillary out and time and time again she shows them wrong. Now that Bill is taking a back seat to Hillary, watch and be amazed. Hillary has what it takes and doesn't need the Kennedy to whore their names out the way they did. I used to respect Carolyn for her silence and know that she is just like her Uncle, the democarts will see right through it. I am not against Obama for his race, I am against him for his arrogance.

    • Posted By: gourrmett @ 01/30/2008 3:10:07 PM

I am pleased that we are exchanging our thoughts and ideas and we agree to disagree. I don't see arrogance on Obama's part; arrogance is when you agree to stay out of the Florida race and you give an acceptance speech to overshadow the South Carolina loss because you can't stand to lose. It's a great political move but it is still arrogance; arrogance is when you feel that you are above defamating the character of your opponent and your ethics say it's ok to do so; you don't stop until you realize it's hurting you. Also, let me ask this question of Hillary supporters with her health care; why do I want someone mandating health insurance to me and I may not can afford it; tell me why you are ok with that; someone that sounds like dictatorship to me. Why can't you just help me to afford the insurance I have and not make me purchase insurance I cannot afford.

      • Posted By: Indie17 @ 01/31/2008 2:44:15 AM

I like your point about insurance. My cousin is an Acupuncturist, and believes in using that method for healing. She does not want to have to pay insurance when it doesn't cover her chosen 'health provider'.

Did you say 'whore'? Wow, you might want to chill out. The hate isn't doing your candidate any good.

  • Posted By: Change is a verb not a platform @ 01/30/2008 2:29:39 PM

Hillary received more votes in Florida than Sen. McCain, the winner of the Republican primary. Hillary also received more votes in Florida alone that Sen. Obama received in Iowa, New Hampshire, Nevada and South Carolina combined.

    • Posted By: Indie17 @ 01/31/2008 2:35:20 AM

But no one campaigned in Florida, so your point is that her name recognition in a large state brought more votes?

  • Posted By: Jonny Boy @ 01/31/2008 2:14:19 AM

More than being a straight talker, McCain is quite the politician. The endorsements he's received in the last few days and the position he's in, compared to a few months back, is a testament to that fact.

His political skills aside however, I don't see how any real conservative can cast a vote for McCain. His record, the bills he's tried to put forth as a senator, is very liberal in leaning, if not outright liberal.

Even though I categorize myself as a conservative, I'd much rather see a liberal, running as a liberal, win the presidency; than see a so-called conservative, with liberal leanings, win. At least the blame for an ever increasingly inefficient government will be put on the heads of the left.

  • Posted By: aurora23 @ 01/30/2008 4:13:17 PM

I think it is interesting that the news media virtually ignores the fact that the Robert Kennedy clan actually endorsed Hillary Clinton. In fact the Kennedy clan , unless it includes only Calroline Schlossburg and Sen. Kennedy, did not endorse Obama. I think that this is a smart move on the part of a wily old politician. Edward Ke4nnedy knows he would have little control over a Clinton white house but can be a large player in an Obama white house. If Clinton wins, Kennedy's standing as a Senior Senator will remain unchanged. Voila! Who would you endorse if you were in hs shoes?

    • Posted By: Indie17 @ 01/31/2008 2:05:45 AM

So, everyone that likes HIllary is altruistic, and everyone that likes Obama is unscrupulous? So many of you HIllary supporters are full of vengeance.

  • Posted By: Bitterlove @ 01/30/2008 4:22:09 PM

Maxine Waters, Antonio Villagrossa, Gavin Newsome, Ron Dellums, those are people I know and respect. They endorsed Hillary. Kennedy? I know his career, but I don't respect it. Not really. That's a shared attitude east of New York City. To be fair though, I assume there are politicians whose word would carry some weight for other people. I'm simply pointing out how it looks from here.

Outside of Gore, no endorsement would make me re-evaluate my vote. Former Edwards supporter. Go Hillary.

It is a sad, sad commentary that NO ONE here seems to know that ALL of Robert Kennedy, Jr.'s children - Kathleen, Robert, Jr., and Kerry - have endorsed CLINTON!!!!! MSNBC has only mentioned it in passing, and same for CNN. The unbelievable bias of MSNBC is just shocking. So, Fineman is leaving out HALF of the Kennedy Clan in his erroneous assumption. (If he bothered to look at the exit poll results from FL, a state in which Obama had tv and radio ads even though it violated the no=campaign pledge, Ted's endorsement did not make much of a difference at ALL! Oh, but WAIT - then MSNBC would have to acknowledge that Clinton won Florida by a LANDSLIDE with NO advertising!!!)

      • Posted By: Indie17 @ 01/31/2008 2:00:06 AM

For the record, Robert Kennedy has 10 living children. Also, the name 'Clinton' is an advertisement in this country. The latest 3-day Gallup poll shows that Clinton's national lead is narrowing quickly -- down to 6% as of yesterday.

Isn't it amazing that everyone sees the same debate, or the same photo, or hears the same speech and yet we always have two distinct interpretations? I've read most of the posts here, and they are pretty evenly split down the middle: "Yes he did" or "No he didn't." It is the Chevy /Ford, National League/American League, Democrat/Republican divide which is basically an arbitrary split when viewed in the context of a large sample reflecting the randomness predicted by probablity theory. In other words, the opinions expressed in these posts are basically meaningless (including this one!) It must be noted that Thomas Jefferson was originally against giving voting rights to the common man, but was convinced by John Locke of the fact that the common man's opinions were random and therefore subject to probability which meant that in a large population they would fall into a 50/50 split (under a two-party system) and cancel one another out. The only thing which accounts for a difference in an even split is the effect of outside influence, i.e. the media (or endorsements) which tend to sway the opinions of the ignorant electorate. Judging by the quality of many of the posts here, I would have to say that Jefferson had a valid point.
