You are reciting a false narrative "Kennedy endorsement helping Obama no Gana," are you kidding us? The KENNEDYS are not only a blast from the past but this family name bring to mind an association of PAIN, FAILURE, and ADDICTION. As a young Latino voter, it also brings to mind CIA incursions into Latin America via LA ALIANZA PARA EL PROGRESO, and the latent RACISM, and ETHNOCENTRIC COLD WAR Ideology that keeps an embargo to one the most educated and healthy Latin American countries: CUBA. For millions of Latino our question is, Obama/Kennedy, waht have you done for us lately? On the other hand the CLINTON bring to mind VICTORY, ECONOMIC FREEDOM, EQUALITY, and CONCRETE PROGRAMS instead of empty inspirational speeches. STOP THE MISOGENIST MEDIA PROPAGANDA against HILLSARY.

Edwards is a fine man with "legitimate" concerns and ideas. Problem is that is not sensational and not worthy of media attention, and we as a people are not interested . Mr. Obama is colorful; speaks well; and knows how to play the "game". That does not make him bad, nor does it make him qualified for the most important job on earth. He needs to do some soul searching and ask himself , 'is it his views and qualifications, or his race that is propelling him at this point.-he knows the answer. We have come a long way, but race still plays an important part of many things in our "real" culture. Unfortunately some feel we have to "appear" to be sensitive, even if we are not; maybe at the expense of common sense.
In short a vote for Mr. Obama is an indirect act of opening the door to the white house to "Big John"

I agree. It will be Hillary or McCain in 08. Choose wisely!

  • Posted By: Abner @ 01/30/2008 4:34:48 PM

I am definitely for Hillary and though Mr. Fineman is doing his best to hide it, I can sense he is for Obama.

I have been in this country for the last 23 years, in New York in particular, but I have never seen nor felt that the American were looking for the Kennedys for PERSONAL political guidance. Ted Kennedy is influential with the Latinos? Excuse me. Just look at what happened to Barack and Hillary in Florida!

Wow, stop the presses. You previously said that he "refused" to place his hand over his heart during the pledge of allegiance. Have you ever heard Barack Obama say that he refused to place his hand over his heart during the pledge of allegiance? I haven't. Next time you go to a baseball game or some place where the national anthem is being played, take a look at the crowd. You will see a mix of people standing at attention and a mix of people standing with their hands over their hearts. Either is socially acceptable. Let's move on to more important things. What is this, Nazi Germany?

Idon't really believe that Obama was snubbing Hillary,a handshake only takes a couple of secs.; but considering the attacks by Bill I can;t be totally surprised if he did! Let's let this wash out some more before we change our positions too quickly. There is a lot of backbiting left to watch..

  • Posted By: nac911 @ 01/30/2008 4:18:13 PM

I'm not judging Obama on just that "misunderstanding", as was implied when he childishly turned away from Hillary so he wouldn't have to shake her hand. I will be voting for Hillary because of her experience and her actual plans to get America going again. Like I said, I was leaning toward Obama, waiting for him (or should it be "Him") to tell us how he is actually going to change things and all I hear coming out of his mouth is ideations without a way of accomplishing any of it. You can't have "change" for the better without experience on how to do it.

    • Posted By: brandtschmidt @ 01/30/2008 4:24:05 PM

But I just explained that he only appeared to be turning away from Clinton; that's not what really happened. He was speaking with someone else. I'm not trying to change your vote, I just want to set the record straight. There was nothing childish about it. It was not reported responsibly by the media.

  • Posted By: notfromNY @ 01/30/2008 4:22:04 PM

Mike Huckabee's 15 minutes of fame???? He got 30% in SC,;almost as much as Rudy in Florida with very little money and with the media geeks attacking him all the time. Most of the attacks are based on his religion, NO one questions the religious ties that Barack has. You twerps make me sick, you are so concerned about being stylish that you cannot see the truth in front of you.

We all remember when Ross Perot could not take the close scrutiny and the political mud that got flung his way. Unfortunately Obama is unused to the dirty dealings that comes with running for president. He behaved in a very unpresidential way when he turned away from Sen. Clinton who behaved in a presidential way when she came over to shake hands with her adversaries. I think that this moment was very telling. I do not believe for a moment that Obama did not see his greatest adversary headed his way and he was unable to control himself. Senator Clinton has the experience. Right now we are not in a position to entrust our country to an untried and untested candidate no matter how brilliant and charming he might be.

  • Posted By: cafesmitty @ 01/30/2008 3:35:12 PM

It will be interesting to see if Clinton and Obama stay about the dirt line. Hillary seems to leave all the mudsling to Bill and there is something about her that seems dishonest. She claims three states (Arkansas, Illinois and New York). Her allegiance keeps changing and it???s confusing to watch her. Everyone is concentration on the wrong thing... which democrat candidate can beat John McCain, instead of who is the best person for the job. I rather vote my conscious than vote for a person because they are more likely to win. When it comes to Obama, sure he may be inexperience, but I think his inexperience lies in not being dishonest. And since I am an independent, it comes down to Obama or McCain for me. I think this country needs to take a break from the Clintons and the Bushes. We need fresh ideals.

    • Posted By: hillaryforpresident!!! @ 01/30/2008 4:20:39 PM

I just want to ask all of you Obama supporters, what the hell is he going to do as President? I have watched all of his speeches and yes he is a very charismatic and likable guy, yes he uses beautiful and colorful political rhetoric, but he has never talked in detail about any single issue!?!? I can tell you what Edward's is for: bringing up lower - middle class workers, I can tell you what Hillary's main agenda is: Healthcare and the middle class, but Obama gives us NOTHING but a bunch of shallow hypothetical promises. "I'm gonna change this Country," Amen brother, yes you are half-black and that is great but what the hell else are you going to change???

  • Posted By: blkjazz @ 01/30/2008 4:15:43 PM

I guess the Clinton anti-truth army is at work again. What a shame.

  • Posted By: notfromNY @ 01/30/2008 4:14:55 PM

Mike Huckabee's fifteen minutes of fame??????? He got 30% in SC and 13% in Florida on a shoestring and with every pundit taking shots at him, and every one of those shots seem to be because he is a man of faith. You elite media types make me sick. Barack can do whatever he wants and is NEVER talked about the way Huckabee is. You people are so out of touch it is almost comical..

  • Posted By: Aware! @ 01/30/2008 4:12:41 PM

    Aloha!

Why do you ignore Bobby Kennedy???s family? They endorsed Hillary.

Patriarchy, chauvinism and misogyny need to go! Do you read the news? Another woman was murdered, dismembered, her body parts put in separate garbage bags and strewn on a roadway - in America.

It is time for a person in the White House who understands this issue and the issues of the disenfranchised in America and all over the world. A new day of healing in America will not come without mercy and justice brought about by someone willing to do the hard work this involves. This is not a popularity contest or a speech contest. It is about who can do the job!

Don't underestimate the voters. Americans heard and saw enough spin in the last two elections. The media, pundits, analysts, and journalists have lost credibility to a large extent. We, the people, can do our own research. Mahalo - graciousness counts!

    Hillary can - Obama cannot!

    Hillary 08

I am also annoyed with the fluffy approach of the media. However, that does not mean there is no substance behind Obama. He has very clearly laid out all of his policies on-line. You can also look up the voting records of Hillary vs. Barack. Experience? He has 4 years experience as a state senator and 2 years in the US Senate. She has 1 term in the U.S. Senate. Professional experience? He taught (part-time) for 10 years at the Univ. of Chicago Law school and was loved by the students for his passion for real people's problems. He was also out in the streets of Chicago working to improve struggling people's lives ??? and it is cold on those streets in the winter (I grew up there). She was a lawyer at the Rose law firm - an old Arkansas establishment ???white shoe??? powerhouse. It is wrong to say that he is not experienced - he is not establishment and she is. That is the reality. His advisors include some of the brightest people in the world. They are both new and establishment ??? spanning many points of view - not just the same old Washington. Hillary's people are just Clinton II - the repeat. Why should we go back to that? Let's remember what kind of leadership the Clinton's provided during a key period in their previous tenure. Between 1997-99 we heard nothing from Washington except Monica and blue dress and how do you define the word "sex" and all sorts of sleaze. Do you remember what else was happening in 1997-99? Bin Laden was busy planning 9/11 and getting his people in place inside this country. The dot-com bubble grew and then burst in 2000 leading to a recession. The Executive Branch, all of DC and the country were not paying attention to these problems - in large part - because of Bill's scandal. Barack is a brilliant and committed public servant. He is a principled young man/husband/father that will give a role model to American young people and families. He is truly a chance to change the country - not in a superficial way but in terms of the nuts and bolts of specific policies, programs and legislation. He will bring young people into the process and get all of us excited about participating in our democracy. Barack will be in the Oval Office focused on working for us to make this happen every day - not distracted by an ex-President sleazing around with interns outside her Oval office door. I was a Peace Corps vol. for 3 years in Africa and I worked in DC and overseas - I have seen the gridlock and the arrogance up close. Barack Obama has what it takes to break through the gridlock and improve our relationships around the world. I now live with my husband and son in Upstate NY and I see many people working two jobs to scrape by - often with no health insurance. I am convinced that Barack will work within the system to make real change happen for these people. Please re-consider before you let frustration with media push you into the arms of the Old-style Washington as usual. Good Luck everybod

Fighting back is what Obama has been doing this entire time. Bill has been constantly attacking Obama and thats why the media and the democratic party are pissed off at Bill.

    • Posted By: hillaryforpresident!!! @ 01/30/2008 4:11:19 PM

Veggicide, you are making things up as you go along apperantly. If you actually watched the first democratic debate you would know that Obama and Edwards were the first to sling mud at Hillary. Seriously, actually do your research and think before you speak.

  • Posted By: Taildragger Driver @ 01/30/2008 3:04:54 PM

I do not understand how anyone can swallow the the baloney line that Hillary repeats about how she is experienced in government. Except that she relies upon the double-speak of old in that if you say something many many times, people would start believing it. She is not about the change that this nation needs. She is the same old babble, same old divisive politics, and relies upon the gullible masses to get her and her sex fiend husband back into the taxpayer's pocket. When Bill Clinton was president, we were the laughing stock of the world. No nation took the US seriously with that buffoon in office. Obama is the one who can lift this country back onto the track of leadership and moral direction that we lost during the Clinton and G.W. Bush Years. Don't blame it on the media. Get your ass out to some of the candidates' rallies and hear what they are saying. I've been a registered Republican for 30 years and this is the first election process since Bobby Kennedy that has me interested. And it is because of Barack Obama.

    • Posted By: Snorkeldorf @ 01/30/2008 4:10:23 PM

As point of fact, we did not become the "laughing-stock" of the world until we elected (then re-elected??!!)George Bush. Bill Clinton, while he was in office and to this day, commands a high level of respect throughout the world. Quite frankly, while we were wringing our hands and suffering bouts of righteous indignation over the Lewinsky affair, the rest of the world was shaking their heads at us wondering why we making such a big deal out of it.

That said, I am an Obama supporter. Hillary Clinton is no Bill Clinton and I don't believe that electing her wil restore the "glory years" of his two administrations.

You mention that you've voted Republican for 30 years, but that Obama might get you to cross party lines in the next election. I sincerely hope that you do, but I respectfully submit that it's not Obama that's tempting you so much as the desire to disassociate yourself from the utter catastrophe of the last 7 years that has been the Bush administration.

Is this country a bunch of brainwashed sheep. So Obama can give a decent reading of prose that was written for him. Does giving a good impersonation of MLK make you ready to be president? I haven't heard anything of substance. Just flowery vagaries about bringing the country together. And how about that pic at the state of the union adress when Hillary went to shake Ted Kennedy's hand and Obama turned away with this angry glare. An immature kid not ready to be president. Hillary is the best and the brightest in this competition. This country needs to wake up before it is too late. No one can ever give me a decent answer when I ask why they have such animosity towards Hillary. Typical is she's a b----. No good answers. Too many people-- including women-- don't like an ambitious, strong woman. Too bad for this country.

    • Posted By: Veggicide @ 01/30/2008 3:51:15 PM

have an answer for you, its because Hillary sold out long ago to the lobbyist when it came to the fight for universal health care and yet she claims she is still for it. She also lied to us all by claiming she didn't vote for the war and never supported it - despite the fact she has made statements in the past supporting it. She criticized Obama for voting to continue to fund the war when she voted for the same thing. She's all over the place and it turns me off.

      • Posted By: hillaryforpresident!!! @ 01/30/2008 4:06:10 PM

Veggicide: What are you talking about? Hillary stuck by her original healthcare plan to the bitter end where it was called "socialized medicine" and not picked up by a single other interest group funded politician! Seriously, do some research before you start making false claims. In addition, she never claimed that she did not vote for the war, duh it's on public record smarty. She did say that looking back it was a mistake and she was fooled like the rest of us into thinking Bush was a competant leader. I also want to remind you post 9/11, popular opinion was highly in favor of the war. I have complete respect for Mrs. Clinton and she has earned my complete loyalty especially after holding her head high in spite of all of the vicious sexist remarks being thrown at her by journalists and common people alike.

no more kennedys, i havent forgotten. dont tell me this has nothing to do with race., he doesnt have enough experience . why do you never play up the fact that he is one half white , why dont we see more of that side of the family. after all he is half white .lets see more of that side of the family.he is charming , and very likable , bu t we need sombody who knows what they are doing. . ill vote for HILLARY. SHE WAS RAISED IN THE CHURCH MUCH THE WAY I WAS . SHE THINKS LIKE I DO. .NOT WATCHING CRIS ANY MORE . HE IS BIASED. JRV

Mr. or Mrs. don't vote. The repugnants got us into this mess. The moralistic party. I bet you are also one of those god loving christians. It is time for change and part of that change is getting rednecks out of politics.

Since there seems to be quite a bit of negativity here, I just wanted to spread some positive vibes. There???s no reason we can???t like both Clinton and Obama. I do. I just happen to think that the time is right for Obama. He has inspired me to become passionate about a presidential race for the first time in my 12 years as an adult. I believe he has the capacity to win over independents and to end partisan roadblocks in Washington, which is what separates him from Clinton in my mind. I think endorsements do help, and I???m glad the Kennedys seem to feel the same way I do about Obama. Obama has the personality to make liberalism cool again, the same way Reagan did for conservativism. By the way, I am also encouraged to see that McCain seems to be pulling away in the Republican race. No way I vote for a Republican in this election, but out of all the Republican candidates John McCain is the one who wouldn???t cause me to lose sleep at night if he became president. I???ve had enough sleepless nights with Bush as president. Anyway, go Obama!

dontvotefordemo, - clearly you have no idea what integrity and honor are about. When people read your view point they do not take it seriously because of the venom it is dripping. You might want to rethink your sad life. Someone like you cannot understand the meaning of the words - honor- integriy - truth - because you are so wrapped up in your small mindedness. I am sure you cannot understand a man like Obama- however I am sure that he does understand a person like you. Any one who reads your sad little comments can plainly see that you have a lot of insecurities. Do yourself a favor- get some therapy before the election so that you will be able to make a intelligent decision at that point.
