not to forget, the clinton that is running for president, is this the same one who took the furniture, silver, linens, etc. from the white house when monica's boyfriend moved?
if she would stoop so low as to do this, what would she do being in-charge?

    • Posted By: apolemic @ 01/30/2008 3:47:02 PM

      Okay.
      One more time.
This business about the Clintons "vandalizing" the White House in preparation for the Bush Administration's entry in 2001 has long since been proved to be a blatant fabrication concocted by Karl Rove.
While I am not a Clinton supporter in this election, if you're going to take a cheap shot, don't go to the Bush Administration for material. It's beneath contempt.

Its because of people like you 'dontvotefordemo' that taint america's image. People who can't see past the gender or colour of a candidate should be ashamed of themselves.

The only democrat worthy of my vote , John Edwards, is now gone, so once again this independents vote will go to the Republican candidate. When will the Democrats get things straight and give us a good candidate?

  • Posted By: TheLastModerate @ 01/30/2008 3:41:26 PM

dontvotefordemo's comments are not only racist and sexist, they're quite frightening and disturbing as well. I'm hoping that he/she is not a voter and is joking, but sadly I think yes he/she is a voter and no he/she is not joking. Also if Edwards is trying to position himself to be the party's nominee for VP he shouldn't hold his breath, as I think the party will go with someone more experienced as Veep to assist either Hilary or Obama.

  • Posted By: TheLastModerate @ 01/30/2008 3:38:36 PM

My response to the comment from "don'tvote..." is: wow. Just wow. Racism and sexism seem par for the course to you. That disturbs me. I imagine your a voter, and that's a scary thought as well. I'm actively hoping your just simply joking via extremes but I highly doubt that.

am sorry John is quiting but i hope he sides with Hillary Clinton due to the fact she has experience in goverment ,world affairs, universal health , economy., and knowledge on how to pull our troops out safely and protect our borders and get us in the GREEN again and save our homes andget the USA on the right track

    • Posted By: ademeyer @ 01/30/2008 3:37:41 PM

It doesn't matter how much experience Hillary has, she will lose against McCain because most Independents don't like her or don't want to give Bill a third term. So, we nominate Barack, he has a chance of winning. And if he wins, you can bet he has the smarts to load up his cabinet with people who have that experience you value.

The only person worth voting for on the Democratic side , John Edwards, is now gone. This is a win for the Republicans and they will get my vote.

Religion and Spirituality are two different things. A Spiritual person understand this and lives with truth, integrity and honor. Religion was a way for powerful people to control the masses. Obama does not sound like a preacher, he soundes like a Spiritual man who undrestands that we are all one people who need to look past social differences and live together in truth and integrity. Religion hasn't done anything to our United States, people are responsible for their own actions. Religion is what happens when people do not really think for themselves. " Seek and ye shall find"" meant that you should do the seeking , not leave it up to someone else to tell you what to believe. . Again it comes to Sprituality. Obama is a man who does his own thingking, seeking and is responsible for his own actions. Billary hasn't reached that place yet. Look at all the "gates" they had when in the first time. Who acted with integrity then? They may still grow up, but probably not in this life time. We can still hope though.

It will be interesting to see if Clinton and Obama stay about the dirt line. Hillary seems to leave all the mudsling to Bill and there is something about her that seems dishonest. She claims three states (Arkansas, Illinois and New York). Her allegiance keeps changing and it???s confusing to watch her. Everyone is concentration on the wrong thing... which democrat candidate can beat John McCain, instead of who is the best person for the job. I rather vote my conscious than vote for a person because they are more likely to win. When it comes to Obama, sure he may be inexperience, but I think his inexperience lies in not being dishonest. And since I am an independent, it comes down to Obama or McCain for me. I think this country needs to take a break from the Clintons and the Bushes. We need fresh ideals.

Persons who vote because of race or gender are remiss in their responsibilities as citizens. Our future should be led by a president that is first and foremost, competent. The role of president is greater in consequence than any surgeon, lawyer, banker, senator, or aggrieved citizen. PLEASE, get rational, and assess the candidates for their experience, capabilities, moral character, and leadership tenacity; not on race or gender. The WRONG message will be sent to the world about our country and its decision-making capacity and processes. Stop viewing and perceiving individuals on race and gender line so that these divisions diminish from our immediate consciousness. As John Lennon said, "Living is easy with eyes closed, misunderstanding all you see".

Endorsements do help, I was leaning towards Obama until the Kennedy endorsement, then I voted for Clinton since I don't think an endorsement from a kennedy is a good thing. If Kennedy had not made public his endorsement for obama, I believe more people would have voted for him.

That is just your belief.. however here is something that you can believe in.

Our grandparents lay claim and bragging rights to the American Revolution and the Civil Rights Movement, our parents claim Woodstock. Our generation is still yet to stake out our claim. Every once in a life time an opportunity makes itself available for us to make history, and as young people our time is now.

We need to stake our claim as the generation that change the trajectory of American politics. We need to ascertain this as our bragging rights to our children and grandchildren. Some of you may be thinking that this is about Obama, but truly this is bigger than the man himself and we can only hope that he will put together a cadre of leaders who will share our vision and aid us in executing this bloodless revolution. "Without vision a people perish"

Throughout history there has never being a bloodless revolution. This is our opportunity to move America back to the forefront of the line. Let the entire world see that we as a people are truly a pace and trend setter, accomplishing what no other nation has ever done before. Removing the power from the elite group and putting it back in the hands of "we the people" without spilling a single drop of blood.

If you want to make your exit from mother earth without making an impact then discard this message, however, if you choose to let your memories live on, then forward this to all the people in your circle, so that they too can become a member of the bloodless revolution and claim their legacy.
Let the bloodless revolution be your American Legacy.
Let it be known now and forever that you were an active participant in the changing of the guards.

Does anybody else see Obama as being less than presidential?
He rebuffs Edwards overtures. He turned his back on Hillary Clinton at the State of the Union address rather than just shaking hands and being civil.
What's next? Give world leaders the silent treatment if they disagree?
How about holding his breath until they see things his way?

    • Posted By: ademeyer @ 01/30/2008 3:32:11 PM

Oh please! How about using criteria like intelligence, intergrity and the ability to communicate to judge who is "presidential" or not? The whole snub scenerio was manufactured by the TV news jerks anyway, to give themselves a drama, it wasn't real, and you fell for it!

Whoever said Hillary campaigned in Fl IS WRONG!!!! I live in Florida and she did not campaign here. She came late last night after the polls closed and gave her exceptance speech. As far as what Bill did to Hillary she has forgiven him and that's their business. I beleive it even made thy're love alot stronger. Not for nothing but come on, can you all honestly tell me none of you have done anything like that? Hey you're probabl;y doing it now!!! So don't knock someone else. This election is not A RACIAL ISSUE IT'S ABOUT THE PEOPLE OF THIS COUNTRY!!! You're all making to be something else just to get poor Obama elected. He hasn't shown me anything yet, he talks and he trips over his own words, he's doing to himself no one else is doing it to him. So stop blaming Hillary, or Bill for picking on the POOR man, he's come across with a few nasties himself. I know I would never stand by and let someone down grade me, I would fight back also.

I am an independent and the media ticked me off too. Real journalism doesn't exist anymore. I am definitely voting for Clinton now and I will expose all my friends to her ideas because I did my research.
It is a shame to watch the so-called political analysts on MSNBC, and CNN adoring Obama while bashing Hillary. Their ignorance and arrogance is obvious. One does not have to be a genius to see how they often attack PAT when he tried to make a positive point about Hillary. They rarely talk about Obama's policies. All they do is to talk about his endorsements and his charisma with no substances. What about how Obama will address the economy, the price of gas, the housing mess, affordable education, and the cost of food among others. Oh yes, the media turned me off. Hillary has my vote.

I am really concerned that voters will be "blinded" by the endorsements and not dig deeper into what the candidates qualifications are and their past actiions and voting records. We must exercise due diligence and really vote for the candidate that best fits with our values, not the one that seems to be the most popular-it's easy to get on the wagon train but we need to do more than just go along with the crowd.

I am an African American, and do not feel that I fit entirely into either of the major parties. I identify with the faith-based value issues of the Republican Party and the need for a strong military, however, I also strongly identify with the need to be compassionate and to address the needs of the poor, as the Democratic platform does, consistently. The Republicans seem to conveniently ignore the fact that helping the poor is also a faith-based issue; in fact, the scriptures speak to this issue more than many of the other issues that the Republican's focus on.

I believe that Obama will be the only president that will have the intellect, empathy, and disposition to bridge differences and form an effective working coalition. Further, he is more electable than Hillary, because, the Clintons will galvanize the Republican electorate. She has too many negatives that jeopardize the Democrats winning the White House, at a time when they should certainly win. Obama is simply the best candidate in the race. Further, he is the one that is energizing the Democratic Party, and expanding it with new voters, independents, and Obama Republicans, another reason, that he can assure the Democrats of winning the White House. He is not beholding to the many powerful PACs and lobbyist as Hillary is.

This is not a black vs. white issue. McCain is an extension of Bush. I am fed up with Bush. Obama will beat McCain, Hillary will not. We will lose an historic opportunity to return to the White House, if we allow the Clintons to use their divisive tactics to win the Democratic nomination, by any means necessary, only to lead us into defeat in the general election.

It???s time for forward-looking voters, to elect Obama, and take back the White House. If Democrats vote their prejudices, they will lose the White House, AGAIN. I hope that Hispanic voters recognize who is responsible for creating the environment that has pitted them against African-Americans, in the inner cities, for the scraps left, behind. There is more that should unite Hispanics and African-Americans, than that which divides us. Obama will unite these two groups and both will prosper under his leadership.

You are correct in your values, all of them. In "sliced white bread" Iowa we believe in what someone stands for, not what they look like. We spoke loudly with our faith, hearts and our heads. We got a good look at everyone and we said clearly "Obama."

  • Posted By: Bankswild123 @ 01/30/2008 2:34:41 PM

I am reading all these posts and maybe alot of you don't understand that change CANNOT come about in Washington unless you have the support of Congress and The Senate! Who do you think is going to support Obama when he wants to make changes??? He is so inexperienced and probably will not have enough supporters in Congress or The Senate to get ANYTHING accomplished! So please people......change will never happen with Obama!

How much does he know about economics??? This country is in a mess right now.......I cannot wait to see The Clintons in The White House!!! I had more money than I knew what to do with and the country was flurishing when The Clintons were in office. I think many people know that Hillary had ahuge part in getting our country back in the black. The American dollar sucks right now and we look like a country full of idiots.

I am not willing to vote for someone with great ideas that remain ideas. If you vote for Obabma that is exactly what you will get. Whether you like it or not.......The White House will ALWAYS be business as usual until we get rid of all the OLD politicians sitting in Congress and The Senate.

GO HILLARY......I want to be a proud American with money in my pocket once again!

    • Posted By: TYG67 @ 01/30/2008 2:41:01 PM

Obama has more support than you give him credit for and I believe congress and the senate will be willing to work with him as long as he will be getting good work done. The country needs real change beside the Bush and Clinton crews that come with lots of baggage. Do not discount all of the drama and baggage okay! We need to be refreshed and renewed! Obama 08!

      • Posted By: Mrs. M @ 01/30/2008 3:01:33 PM

Do you want to be a proud American with money or an American with more rights than the next American. I knew this race would go in the direction of "race", welcome to America. I am glad to see that Obama has gotten this far in America. You attempt to discredit a very creditable candidate not because you don't believe he can be responsible for this country as much as what color skin he is in. Living in America isn't all about lining your pockets with money. There are people in this country that has taken back seat to all the white wash in politics for many years and it is time for a change in this place we call America. You state you can't wait to see the Clinton's in the White House, remember they were in the big house before and I am sure you were one of the many shouting for them to get out. But, it beats having and African American in there whom you believe aren't qualified to do what many Presidents has not done. We don't look like a country full of idiots because of the economic situation, we are not united as a country and that is what the world see when they see us. We spend so much time on race issues that our children are dying in school, people are losing their homes, men and women are being paid based on their color and not experience and education. I want someone who will acutally give a dang about all races and pull that we all do well in this world we call America. It is time for a change and Obama is the man for the job. McClain proved to Romney that you didn't have to know economics to be the leader. It would be great if economic was the only problem America had to fix. Heck, I could get the brightest monkey from the zoo to handle that. We need to first start with building ourselves together as one body and not everything based on race and gender. Yes, the Congress need to be flushed out and so do many of these big corporations, school systems and the list can go on. So, when you make statements and believe that Obama can't make a change, you might want to think twice before speaking. I hope that when he become President that you won't just line your pockets with cash but you will fight for better schools, fair income, equal rights, jobs to be kept in America (that could be a start for lining your pockets).
Go Obama!!!!!!!!! I am ready for a change in this confused place we call America. it is time for someone else to benefit from this game we call life. Mrs. M

Get off your racist high horse......I am not voting for Clinton because she is white.......I am voting for her because she is NOT a MAN!!!!! Mrs. M. YOU are the reason that race will always be an issue in our great country! (enough said)

What can the Clintons do now that they weren't able to do back then? Who can rally young people to get them to dip into that dormant creative juice that is just waiting to flow hither?

Our grandparents lay claim and bragging rights to the American Revolution and the Civil Rights Movement, our parents claim Woodstock. Our generation is still yet to stake out our claim. You are showing your true color. I am sure the world will settle for a woman any day over an educated and qualified African American man. Many of us are just trying to be Americans and the country in which we help to build. So, I hope when Obama become President that you don't forget to line your pockets with all the money he will bring into the economy. GO OBAMA ... I want a change in this very divided country we call America

The media has gotten it wrong every time so why not now? Obama is the Denzel of politics. He would be a worse pres than Bush and certainly more devisive. It's funny that Fineman along with the predominatley male media rebuffs Hillary as not a change? They are idiots a woman would be much more change than a black man. Get over yourselves and admit you are mysogynists, (woman haters) and grow up. This is the mellinieum not the 60's with the goofy Kennedy drunken murderers.

    • Posted By: Saltydog_0 @ 01/30/2008 3:15:58 PM

Gee. Thanks for defining misogynist (It's spelled with an I after the M. Same for millenium. Same for divisive. (You got somethin against the letter I?)). It's really helpful to have someone of your intelligence and understanding correct our misguided opinions that Obama would be an agent for change. All this time I thought he could effect change due to his ability to include people on both sides of the aisle in the governing process, his unified vision, his sense of purpose and his ability to instill hope into the pessimistic arena of Washington politics. Now however, due to your insighful post, I realize that the primary factor in determining a candidate's ability to bring change to American politics is their sex or race; and that sex, in fact, trumps race as an attribute necessary to bring about change.

Furthermore, I now realize that since I didn't understand Hillary's lack of a Y chromosome makes her a superior candidate, I am, in fact, a woman hater. I'm so ashamed. My mother's so ashamed. How could I have ever been so foolish. My eyes are open now. Now I know. Black men are better than white men. Women are better than men. Black women are the very bestest.

    • Posted By: wilk0243 @ 01/30/2008 1:16:45 PM

Obama is far more a change agent than Hillary because he doesn't come from a privileged white background. He got as far as he has because of his hard work, intelligence, and determination. And as a woman, I truly believe that there are a lot of good qualities that a woman could bring to the presidency. I just don't think that HIllary is that woman. She's too out of touch with the average American. Her whole life has been about playing the political game. And as much as I respect Bill Clinton for what he did in office, I don't think that his wife can do the same. I've done my research on both Obama and Clinton's ideas, and I think that Obama has a much more relevant view of the world right now.

    • Posted By: BillinGA @ 01/30/2008 1:01:49 PM

Change is not brought on by a woman or a black man. It's brought on by someone who defends the Constituion. And allows us free choice. Something we're losing.
