seanmac : So what do you think the gig is? I agree about the Newsweek slant but we should be pressing for unbiased news coverage - or equal print space - should any of the main news organizations condone one candidate or another? I don't think so. Where are the reporters for Hilary? Can't they get their pieces past the male editors?

This is all very sweet, but it won't matter on Super Tuesday and John boy knows it. We are not voting for the great JFK or RFK, they sadly are no longer with us...and Obama , is a poor susbstitute. Americans care about who can run this country and fix our problems, not who gives the best speech or has the most celebrity support. Despite all the pleading and punditry from people like Alter and Fineman, nobody cares about their opinions. Hillary is ahead by double digits in practically every ST state...Hillary will win big on Feb 5th, Alter knows it, he just can't handle it:)

Caroline goodbye, Camelot is gone....the endorsement of your tired and privileged clan seems a vain attempt to cling to your position as first family of the ever-so-slightly left in America. We need a real change, with substance and experience in handling obtuse and manipulative men - not just another young turk who can be twisted around the fingers of the guys in the leather armchairs. How about a wily, witty, intelligent, dedicated woman? God forbid, "anything but that", I hear you cry.

Caroline Kennedy's clan has contributed so much to America that your uncool, lame comments
provide no support to your candidate.

carasdad: You are right about the Kennedy's contributions - but don't get carried away by the idea of a new broom when you haven't any idea how it's going to sweep. I'm thinking of Mickey Mouse in Fantasia.

Even though I am more leaning towards Obama, I have to say that without questions that Newsweek is for Obama and against Hillary. From a jouralism standpoint, this is not professional. It is very simple to figure out Newsweek's stand, just by viewing Newsweek's website, there always more positive news/writing about Obama and even the headlines concerning Clintons are often negative. This is totally not fair. Newsweek has made their minds about Clinton and they don't want to open their minds again. Newsweek should announce publicly that they are for Obama and against Clinton.

I did not know about the link between Barack Obama Sr. and JFK.
    Clintons sound like Nixon
Thanks to Caroline and Ted Kennedy
for you support of the honest, uniquely qualified Barack Obama for president.

Their positions on the issues are not that different. Sure, a few subtle differences are present, but they're in the same negihborhood on the spectrum. They're going to be listening to practically the same advisors once elected anyway. What matters is how many people they can bring along with them. Obama can lead. The differnce is that he can also motivate people to follow.

Actually not all the Kennedys are batting for Obama - just the ones who are most well known and most scared of a woman president taking the air out of the overblown balloon of the historical first family of "slightly left of center" America. Carolinemy dear, the dream is gone, the reality is we now need a real change - not male- a woman who has the experience and the lifetime determination to take on the men who sit comfortably in their leather chairs and nod to change only by accepting yet another one of their own - just a new young turk who they will soon twist around their fat little fingers.

Comment: This ranks as a nice Reader's Digest heartwarmer, but relies on an emotional component of "fate," rather than whether Obama is better QUALIFIED to lead us than Clinton. I'm voting for the candidate I think will be the best, not for any nostalgic feelings. So far, I have yet to hear what it is Obama will do to realize all this change. And Kennedy endorsements reinforce my view that Obama is well inside the tent, not the "outsider" he masquerades as. Warm, fuzzy feelings are for bedtime stories, not for presidential elections."

So cynical, are you Billary by chance? Or just a mere facade on behalf of Billary?

I couldn't have said it better tony_facade. I hope most Americans think as rationally as you do.

I'm sick of all of Obama stories on the news sites. It seems like the media is favoring Obama. Obama is a great speaker but Hilary is the only one who can better address and correct the current situation in America.
But of course by America's nature, the idea of the "Camelot" story is more important than picking the right person and with Obama as president it would be a "Dreamalot".

Amazing, amazing! What a wonderful story! I am so glad and grateful that Caroline and family moved fast to endorse Obama. History will judge her for doing the right thing - for endorsing a candidate who will continue the fire that her father started. Always been a Kennedy fan - Caroline just proved again how classy her family is.

  • Posted By: dunnhaupt @ 01/30/2008 7:34:41 PM

Of course we all respect and admire Caroline's feeling that Obama is "the true heir of her father's legacy." But of course there is no question that it is TED Kennedy's endorsement that really mattered. He is a senior member of the Democratic establishment and an enormously powerful politician who carries a great deal of weight, especially among Hispanics. It was HIS endorsement that the Clintons had desperately tried to get, not Caroline's.

I am a 43 year old white southern male with a post-graduate degree. As a teen and college student I was active in politics and even attended the Virginia Democratic convention as a Gary Hart delegate. In the years since, I became a cynic and stepped away from political involvement of any kind. Last Saturday, my wife and I drove 8 hours, round trip, to Columbia, SC to see Barack Obama at his SC victory rally. After 25 years of apathy, I am now "Fired Up, Ready to Go!" Enough said.

I echo the "wows." I've felt all along that there is something extraordinarily special about Obama, but now I know there is. But this is not just fate - it is also the result of Obama's passion, intellect, and keen sense of our history and how it has evolved - and how he can apply all of that that to our needs in today's world. Don't let the status quo tell you he's no different from other politicians. He is VERY different - for the better!

Listen Bill, "the biggest fairy tale" has just come true!!!

Amazing. Just amazing how life comes together.

  • Posted By: chatmant @ 01/30/2008 6:20:42 PM

Wow. As a white guy I can only say, wow.

  • Posted By: merri @ 01/30/2008 6:17:45 PM

This brought tears to my eyes, and goosebumps too. I don't believe there are 'coincidences' I believe that these things happen to let us know what we are to do next. He who has ears, let him hear.
