As usual, no mention of the other victims of all this murder and mayhem, the wildlife there, especially in the area known as greater Maasai Mara and the northern serengheti. Park rangers have no funding now to protect the elephants, rhinos, lions, etc. from poachers and the bushmeat trade. We are looking at a catastrohic decline in endangered species unless emergency funding is provided by people like you and me. Wildlife Direct is accepting donations, please help anyway you can. For the sake of the animals and the future of Kenya.

This is a clear sign of Democracy failing in Africa. By the way how many opposition parties have peaceful won an election or accepted defeat over the last years we have had democracy in Africa. It is time to reflect on the reality and make decisions that will help Africa move on. Democracy has been Africa's nightmare and each election is potentially a catalyst for violence.

if you were the president going in for reelection, and your opponent adopts dirty tricks to rig himself in, what would you do? Play clean? If you were the opponent and the incumbent stole your victory, what would you do? Tear the country apart? There is a clip from BBC where RO is justifying the violence in Eldoret, this is the man who "champions democracy" . As for MK, he is pretending that all is well. These are our leaders.

We are all human beings, and as a superpower it is our responsibility to help the poor, not steal oil from countries like Iraq. That is why everyone hates us. You people give us a bad name.

Who says it is our responsibility to help the poor? Steal oil from Iraq? Our buying their oil made them a wealthy nation...that is before the Democrats and Republicans decided to expand the empire.

both of them cheated....one brainwashed the stupid and poor and the other one was smart enough to rig votes....who cares....they both should be ashamed of themselves..... but you cant blame them on the killing. the only people who are responsible for the killing are the killers....kibaki or odm never told those idiots to kill people.... let them destory their country like they want to.... the kikuyu have been hated in africa just like the jewish people are hated everywhere..... and they are both fighting....let them fight....let them kill each other... at the end of the day....kikuyus will still be on top and lous will still be jealous of what they have....they cant kill all the kikuyus..... another 3rd world country doing what they do best.... who cares that they were so peaceful before..OBVIOUSLY there was some hate in that country if over 800 are dead. i got my mother in law and uncle out of there..... let that place be and they will handle it....survival of the fitest!!!!

it is all about one greedy man refusing to concede power to another power hungry man. we should take this opportunity to put in place a new constitution such that the executive powers are trimmed and effective checks put in place. changing one arrogant man with another will not bring desired change but this mass action will be in vain if a new constitutional order is not put inlace before any rerun or new election. the masses have spoken though crudely through ethnic cleansing but we have to look forward without forgetting this bitter period inour history. nothing good will ever come out of kenyan leadership if the preisdential powers are not trimmed as any leader will want to hang onto them for ever. we should also look at why people who have lived together for so long turned on each other. there must be deeper under currents that came to the fore with the announcement of the election result. the Annan talks have to delve deeply into the issue of land commencing with the alienation of land by the colonialists to the land grabbing that took place in the kenyatta and moi regimes. they must also address mega corruption issues that have been ignored by the country's leadership.

MOI HANDED OVER A PEACEFUL KENYA TO KIBAKI IN 2002, HE HAD THE CAPACITY TO RIG IN UHURU BUT DIDNT.NOW HE THREATENS TO HAVE IT WIPED OUT OF THE WORLD MAP, THE TYRANT MUST BE STOPPED! JOHN

Well.....I'm a kenyan, trapped in the fangs of time! I watch helplessly as my country shreds itself to smitherens, the feeling is similar to what one would feel if on a plane thousands of feet above sea level and with the aeroplane wing slowly disintegrationg, and falling off as one watches. The truth is bitter and democracy is not an alien concept in Africa, just that our Presidents have constitutional powers that turn them into demi-gods in a minute. Their rich friends, power hungry wannabes and tribesmen rally to their defence hence the concept of democracy is only respected if it declares the incumbents winners, especially in Africa. For instance, Mr. Kibaki knows that he lost the polls, his regiment of advisors/friends/tribe could not imagine being out of power, the stakes are too high to this banal crew, they cannot fathom a life in the ordinary yet by their greed a whole nation is broken. Shame on them, the windmills of the Gods could grind slow, but they grind exceedingly small.Justice will prevail in Kenya.

The much escalated violence serves as the reminder of the arleady deeply divided society since independence.Whatever comes out of mediation,it should serve to tell the leaders on how close is their country,Kenya,to ethnic cleansing that will have multiple faces; The long nosed versus short ones, the rich versus the poor.It is not about Euro nor dollar that is behind that,it is about gleedy, selfshness of our fore and the gene that we,africans, inherited.

  • Posted By: eddiewhere @ 01/31/2008 1:41:46 AM

AFRICANS HAVE NOT EVOLVED ENOUGH TO HANDLE DEMOCRACY. IT IS NOT THEIR FAULT THE EURO's destroyed AFRICA. THEIR ECONOMIC GREED has sent the wrong message to AFRICANS. THE youth is indoctrinated with western culture. Material things have more value than human life. Going to AFRICA is like going back into ancient times. UNFORTUNATELY, they have guns and bombs these day. COULD you imagine if KENYA had a some jet fighters and a dirty bomb, there would be no more AFRICA.
This is what the world needs to realize. WHERE THERE IS NO LAW AND ORDER THERE IS TERROR AND THAT TERROR WILL SpREAd THROUGHOUT THE WOLD LIKE A DISEASE.

Africa is a continent in perpetual conflict. Borders mean nothing, affiliation to a tribe is much more important.
Each tribe wants to have land set aside for them alone and if members of their tribe want to congrigate and mix with other tribes. they are considered by many to be unworthy and rejected by their own people. Unfortunately, poverty and discrimination, plagues those not considered equal and resentment rises to the surface as in Kenya. Only time and patience, from the West might rectify this situation, but brutality, bribery and greed from all angles will try to drag Africa down.

It makes me sick to my stomach to hear such selfishness. Here's something everyone can agree on: The world would be better off without YOU.

Dogs... just a bunch of dogs. Let 'em kill each other. The world would be better off without them.
