What choice do Republicans have...a bufoon from Arkansas, a CEO who buys in to the Joseph Smith fairytale or an aging warmonger who wants to turn America over to the Mexicans?

  • Posted By: 1conserv @ 02/03/2008 7:52:32 AM

I'm a conservative, a college graduate, served in the military, and love this country.

This country is going to hell in a hand-basket, because people keep misleading us into accepting these supremacist ideologies. Our deep-seated racist feelings give us a slight twinge when we think of electing an African-American President. So, we make-up all these ridiculous excuses for not voting for him.

Article 2 of the US Constitution sets the principal qualifications to be eligible for election as President. A Presidential candidate must:

    1. Be a natural-born citizen of the US.
    2. Be at least 35 years old.
    3. Have been resident in the US for at least 14 years.

So, where did all this talk of experience come from? Again, the okie-doke! Who has experience being the President of the US before becoming the President of the US?

Obama keeps saying he wants to give the country back to the American people. He knows we're predominantly white, dominate the House of Representatives, dominate the Senate, and dominate the military.

While we're falling for the okie-doke, again, China, Japan and Southeast Asia are buying up US debt. So, I guess we'll be happy when they finally sell our country back to us!

    Obama '08!

Ok, now we only have 1 party in this country, the liberal left.

  • Posted By: booya @ 02/03/2008 2:51:58 AM

Obama is simply not up to the task of being president. NO EXPERIENCE... it will be like putting GWB back in and saying suffer people... because we said so.

I'm not voting for Hillary - EVER. She's fake...I don't see her winning the general election. I really don't. I don't see her winning in TX where I reside. Nothing unites Republicans more than Hillary - nothing. She kind of wears that on her sleeve like a badge - but she EARNED IT. And - I don't buy into this whole Obama being the most liberal senator B.S. - define that for me? HOW? What votes? B.S.

This is a guy that reaches out to Republicans and WINS THEIR VOTES. Clinton can not beat McCain...I only hope that Edwards dropping out of the race is going to unite the "anti-Hillary" vote enough. But bottom line - I'm voting for Obama because of Obama....not because I dislike Hillary (which I do). Obama 08'

Your hunger for 'change' has blinded you. Dont you know thats exactly how he is playing the games in accordance to your desires? You want change so badly, you are ready to accept anyone who can present himself as a 'people's person', who can 'unite'. How to unite a country of 300 million people when you have no experience but just empty promises. You and i can do the same - just make promises and once in the white house start to deal with the problem. How easy to be the President of USA.

    • Posted By: sedonakaren @ 02/02/2008 11:44:00 AM

Don't look now, but he's not simply promising to unite. He's ALREADY brought in more never-before-voted young people and minorities than anyone in history! Is that a bad thing, to get everyone involved in our election process? He's also not shut out half of the nation (Republicans and Independents.) He wants to be President of ALL the people. How Unique!

      • Posted By: William the Great @ 02/03/2008 1:06:03 AM

Yeah depend on the youth vote......I think every progressive since time began has had the youth vote and they were the ones to deliver. I will bet you a cold guniess on that one..........can you say college kids for Kerry '04.....He sure did win and that was alot change after that one.

      • Posted By: schubert1970 @ 02/02/2008 4:14:12 PM

Bush was for change too and look how we ended up

        • Posted By: William the Great @ 02/03/2008 1:03:06 AM

How unique? Will he vote for anything BUT a straight line orthodox liberal line like Teddy K. You must be kidding yourself if you think that third to half this country will suddenly though away thier values because a goodlooking black man say we need change (to what 70's stye liberalism)

Obama is selling a pipe dream. As a devout Dem, I guess I'm immune to the Obama infection that everyone seems to be getting. Call me pragmatic, call me delusional or call me a cynic, but there no "New Blood" in Washington. Obama is just loved by the media for now. May as well have him run with Brit Spears as a VEEP, the media loves her too. When and if he gets the Dem Nomination, he will be torn apart for his lack of any credible experience. And everyone is foolish to think that Obama isn't going to cave in to Lobbyist groups, look and see where his money is coming from... its only a matter of time before the media become disenfranchised with him. But the flip from party norm goes both ways...if it is Obama for '08... You'll be hearing a lot more from "Democrats for McCain"

    • Posted By: sedonakaren @ 02/02/2008 11:25:33 AM

How cynical you have become! Do you actually KNOW where his money is coming from? It's coming in SMALL donations from regular people. He has accepted no PAC money, nor has he accepted any money from lobbyists. His most recent $32 million dollars collected in January was from 170,000 NEW contributors. He has raised more small donations from more small contributors than any other candidate.
This is what we mean by "a grass roots" candidate. His candidacy has been built block by block, one brick at a time, whereas the Clintons have been known forever. Doesn't that tell you ANYTHING? Doesn't that perhaps convince you that it's worth at least looking into a man who has entered the hearts of so
many so quickly? If it doesn't, it's your loss.

      • Posted By: William the Great @ 02/03/2008 12:58:27 AM

Bull S----, You WILL not now were the bulk of his money comes from ESPECIALLY the last quarter before the election. He bought just like the rest..........I can buy me a new one in 8 years.

    South Austin ...Touche'

  • Posted By: SouthAustin @ 02/03/2008 12:35:12 AM

I wish the pro-Hillary folks would do the basic math before spouting off about her ability to win the general election. He husband (who is a million times more liked than her) never was able to win a majority (ie greater than 50%) of the popular vote. Ross Perot attracted more Republicans than Democrats and gave Bill Clinton the White House 2 times. Since the best Bill could do was 49% in 1996, even if we assume that Hillary gets the same % as her husband , (not really likely because she is far more disliked than he ever was) you see that she'll come up short in a 2 way race. Unless there's a 3rd party candidate to split the Republican vote, Hillary is toast in the General Election. Which will just mean that once again Democratic primary voters have snatched defeat from the jaws of victory and squandered another chance to get a Democrat in the White House.

As for Damon44 let me say this, During WWII hardworking German Americans had to change their names so they would not be associated with the Nazi's. That was sixty years ago. Poor Damon44 has fallen victim to the propaganda of hate radio and hate cyperspace which follows the doctrine of notiable organizations such as the KKK. Damon44 is dishonest. Why don't you call him a ***? That is what you say to your buddies. Oh yes you are a boy....I can tell. I am so glad that the majority of the electorate are women. A Democrat will win and there is nothing you can do about it.....HA HA

As I was watching C-SPAN today, I was surprised by the Repulicans (mostly women) who are going to vote for Obama. Billary is from the scorched earth crowd of the 1990's. I must say, as a yellow dog Democrat, I refuse to be a Lemming and follow the NOW crowd and vote for Billary. Instead I will go with gut and vote for Barack...

  • Posted By: TxLatino @ 02/02/2008 11:10:42 PM

I actually feed sorry for Damon44. Before you write garbage check your facts. Ignorance gives you no reason to be hatefull. I am a Latino American born and raised in this great country. The problem of why there is so much hatred is because of people like you. If we elect a Christian, Catholic, Mormon or Muslim so be it. We need to be mindfull that regardless of each individuals choosen religion, does not make them any better then their neighbor. That is what I gathered from your comment. Which I suspect you wrote out of ignorance and your religious orgainizaiton.

I am a repbulican that is going to vote for Barach Obama

  • Posted By: William the Great @ 02/02/2008 7:48:05 AM

No Obama is another orthodox liberal who is marketed much better. He will get MAYBE a year or two of bipartiship (although I doubt it). Conservatives or republicans in general are not going to start to vote againts thier paticular base just because you have a BLACK LIBERAL that will PUSH a LIBERAL agenda(remember Clinton his first two years and what that got him in 94). So yeah he may get elected on a change and "we going to work together across lines" mantra but in the end it will be patisanship because the country is divided.

    • Posted By: Leebo @ 02/02/2008 7:56:44 AM

Such cynicism! (I don't blame you - this is what we've had for a long time in this country.) Thing is - we can do better. It's not marketing (although there are plenty of savvy folks working with Obama), but a real turn away from the politics of the past and to a vision of this country we can all get behind. Since you capitalized black and liberal, I'm not sure how much Obama's message even would appeal to you. Thankfully, it looks like you are in a minority. Obama '08 - Yes, we can!

      • Posted By: DCSteve @ 02/02/2008 10:21:10 AM

Yes we can What? What vision?

Of course republican back Obama because they are shrew enough to divide the Democrats. Obama has no chance becoming Pres. not his time even he is somehow a qualified politically. The republicans knew from the very beginning that they had no chance of winning and they politically savvy that by dividing the Dem. will give them a chance that is why they are promoting Obama with money and surrogated propagandist on TV or Radio. You got to be naive not to understand these infatuation republican have with Obama. Rep are more disciplined than that, oppose to Democrats who behave like a lady on the loose.

The editorial board of La Opinion, with a readership of 500,000 the largest Spanish-language daily in the country, endorsed Obama today, praising his "inclusive message of hope" and his "conciliatory style that can reverse the vicious cycle of rancor which has paralyzed (the country's) ability to come together on major decisions."

    Clean slate!!!

If some Republicans have devised a diabolical and satanic scheme to vote for Obama in an effort to undermine the American political process and ensure a Republican wins the Presidency, it wouldn???t be called the Bradley Effect, it would simply mean that Farrakhan was right all a long...

"1" British pound is worth almost "2" US dollars.

"1" Euro is worth almost "1 and a half" US dollars.

China is about to raise prices on goods sold to the US and others.

The US economy is in a recession.

Almost half of the US Treasury bonds are now owned in Asia.

Approximately half of the US debt is held outside the US, primarily by China, Japan and Southeast Asian nations.

US soldiers are dying in Iraq and Afghanistan to prop up their governments, while their politicians eat sushi and laugh behind our backs.

...all this is okay as long as there is a Republican in office?!

    ...tragic...

Hillary Clinton, under fire about her commitment to civil rights for her race coding campaign, has lately been loudly proclaiming her fealty to the Democratic Party's best traditions on human rights.

However, just two years ago, Hillary--the purported "expert" on international relations--said there should be "lawful authority" for torture in some cases. (See, for example, www.politico.com/blogs/bensmith/0907/Hillary_and_torture_audio_version.html )

Her stand was opposite to that of every other major Democratic presidential candidate in 2007-2008, and the heat she took for it caused her to make one of her famous "flip flops."
