Let's see...Obama is Muslim...why? Because his father was. But his mother, was a Christian from Kansas, and you can't get much more Bible belter than Kansas. He was raised, for the most part by his grandmother, a Christian, who lived in Hawaii. I'm not sure he knew his father, or remember his stepfather. But you think he's a moslem because of 2 men who were never really in his life. God, grant me this one prayer. That the ignorant and easily manipulated by the unscurplous, don't make it to the polls. That only reasoned, educated, rational people get there. In throngs.

JenniferAmelia what a liar you are. " I wouldn't vote for Obama, the "uniting candidate" (lmao) if you paid me a million bucks'. Year right. Your comment indicates that you are a liar and a racist, so of course you wouldn't vote for him. What does "what he looks like" have to do with anything? You say . . "when he's really just a funny-looking junior Senator from Illinois.". Thank God, America has more intelligent people than you appear to be.

    • Posted By: JenniferAmelia @ 02/02/2008 1:42:22 PM

There you go again, Obama sycophant, blindly lashing out at anybody who criticizes your darling as a "racist". You just proved my point :-) There was NOTHING racist about what I said. I said I do not like Obama, will not vote for him, and think, rather than his being the second-coming as you nuts think, that he is merely a rather funny-looking Senator from Illinois. NOTHING racist about that except in your fantasies.

Obama is a uniter, has increased the Democratic Party's membership, does not play the race card and will inspire Americans to confront our problems. A fair (if not good) number of Republicans and Idependents will support him. I hope he gets the Democratic nomination and have Caroline Kennedy as his running mate. Two young intelligent humanists and with the record and experience of Ted Keennedy will work wonders for America. The VP position will prepare her to run for the Presidency in the future and returning the Kennedys to the White House.Americans need to think hard and give CHANGE A CHANCE.
    Cecil.

You know, moderate Republicans endorsing Obama is all the more reason to vote for Hillary. His "consensus building" equals selling out to corporations, lobbyists and the right. How is that a change? Hillary is no saint, and is not a great option. But she is so much more trustworthy then Obama it is sick. His vague, pretty message is a lie. Go ahead, elect him. You'll wish you hadn't.

    • Posted By: GaryInManassas @ 02/02/2008 5:37:28 AM

I think you need to look in Senator Clintons closet. There, behind Monica, is a whole slew of lobbyists. Go ahead, check.

      • Posted By: Zombiehero @ 02/02/2008 8:43:14 AM

And we don't know what is in Obama's closet yet because so far no one has even bothered to look. The "liberal" media's free pass on anything anti-Obama is as scary as Fox Noise free pass on anything Anti-Bush.

        • Posted By: sedonakaren @ 02/02/2008 11:34:49 AM

Give the Clintons credit. They know their politics. They have "combed through" Obama's history very well, thank you. Do you remember how they went back to his KINDERGARTEN class? What a joke. Maybe there just isn't anything negative there...Why do you think all the dumb Muslim stories came out? SOmeone had to make something up that might damage his surge in the polls. It wont' work. We know he's the real thing.

          • Posted By: Zombiehero @ 02/02/2008 12:52:25 PM

Yeah I mean to say NOT trying to compare. I admire Obama but and will defend him against some that use his name and heritage against him. I abhor the use of religion in any political sense. But I'm just trying to point out that just because he can inspire people doesn't mean he is the best to lead. Of course everyone has their own opinion and your opinion and $1.50 won't get you a cup of coffee anymore. Hope is a fleeting thing. It is great when used to inspire people, but it can also to a lot of harm if expectations are not meet. I'm just skeptical that Obama can deliver on his promise of change.

            • Posted By: Nomads @ 02/02/2008 1:23:19 PM

He clearly states that it is not he who is going to bring change, but We the People need to help change our country. That is his message, it is not all about him - like it is with Billary.

    • Posted By: GaryInManassas @ 02/02/2008 5:35:31 AM

Nothing in life is gauranteed. We know that Senator Clinton will be a devisive figure, if elected. That alone should give pause to electing her if what we truely seek is an America that has a sense of restored hope. If you are truly concerned about lobbyists, then I suggest that you take a closer look in Senator Clintons closet. There, behind Monica, is a whole gaggle of lobbyists.

Judging from the comments here you would think Obama is the second comming of jebus.

  • Posted By: sean2002 @ 02/02/2008 12:17:28 PM

Oh, another pro-Obama marketing piece. Certainly my prediction is accurate. I thought before Super Tuesday Newsweek website will turn into a pro-Obama campaign site. It does look like that this will be the case.

    • Posted By: Zombiehero @ 02/02/2008 1:12:59 PM

Yeah really. I admire Obama but will not be voting for him.

i just hope those GOP members know that a vote for McCain is a vote for his VP! As in the past the GOP has had a nasty habit of worthless VPs oh lets say DAN QUAIL! McCain is a good man and a honerable Veteran, but even if you look at Clintons first term, he came out of it looking 10-15 years older, and by his second he looked ragged and old old like 25+ years past his real age. This to will happen to McCain a good man, with no age to give! If he were to lose 10-15 years in his first four, we will be run by his VP 90% of his term. BTW what does his[McCains] generation know what this generation [Obamas, mine] needs to survive and grow and become what we all know we are cabable of? Not much, as history has showed DC is old and lost touch including Hillery> Obama is young enough to know what we need, and has the experience to get it done, even if he needs to tap someone who knows more than he! This is a great trait for a leader, and his choices in those he trust to listen to! LISTEN a subject Bush knows nothing about-ever! Obama can get done what needs to be done, but no way, any president, can fix what only took 8 years to break! It will take a lot longer than a two term, but he will get the ball rolling in the right direction! We did not lose in Nam or has it become a thorn in our side after we left? Did they threaten the US? no! They were silent and only became a problem, when we started to outsource, to Nam as the GOP wanted. What else happened when that happened? The Herion use in the USA blew up, it went form barly used, to the new meth, mmm CIA back at work, funding unknown accounts, for forign war mucking! As it was,is and always shall be!

Obama's father was a muslim. His mother remarried a Indonesian muslim. That makes him a muslim. But thats fine with us, however he claims he's been baptized. In a times of uncertainty (America declines, recession looming, foreign countries challenging America etc)...you ought to elect a sure President. Clinton even though she's not as charismatic as Obama, is grounded. She can also bring about lots of changes, but with a different flavor. So pls be smart. Elect someone who can last for 4 or even 8 years, who solve problems and steer the nation in the right direction. Not someone who has no experience and make empty promises..Anyone can make promises, even you and me.

    • Posted By: Leebo @ 02/02/2008 9:18:14 AM

Wow. The Muslim thing - must be a Clinton supporter. They seems to be desperate enough to push this garbage.

Just look at how Obama has taken on the "inevitable" nomination of Hillary. If that doesn't prove the guy can lead and manage, nothing will. Obama is the real deal. He is proving himself on the national level as we watch. The Clintons...please. Enough.

      • Posted By: Zombiehero @ 02/02/2008 9:32:22 AM

Most of the Muslim slinging is done by the right Christian "Judge Not Lest Ye Be Judged" Right, not by Clintonians. Taking the "inevitable" nomination doesn't mean he is a fine leader.
This isn't meant to be mean or anti-Obama or anything other than a pure observation, so don't call me Rush or Coulter but many infamous people in history have been able to win the heart and mind of the people to detrimental consequences; ie Hitler, Mussolini, Mao, Stalin (well he just killed all the dissident). As i said I'm comparing Obama to those evil people but just making a point that driving up the Masses isn't all there is to being a good leader or manager or commander.

        • Posted By: sedonakaren @ 02/02/2008 11:19:47 AM

Did you happen to make a Freudian slip? You wrote, "As I said I'm comparing Obama to those evil people..." I've heard this one before. Some people just can't believe there are "good" people and "great leaders," so they tend to be fearful of and demonize them. I tend to understand because you have been listening to Bush and Cheney fill you full of FEAR, FEAR, and more FEAR for the last 7 years. Of course his ability to inspire demonstrates great leadership ability. If a person can't get and keep your attention and gain your trust, they cannot lead. The difference is what Obama speaks about and actually demonstrates in his campaign. Would a dictator such as you mention use truth and strength of character to win the primary when less than admirable tricks are being used against him? I believe that one only needs to watch the way Obama campaigns to see how he would lead. With strength, faith, and honesty.
He knows how to defend himself when he must,, but he much prefers searching for what we have in common with other Americans. Unlike the Clintons, he has drawn a line that he will not do "whatever it takes" to win. He has announced that he refuses to "kneecap" anyone. If he wins, it will be his way. He does not want a tarnished victory. I very much admire him for that.

I hate to break it to you, but there is no "genetic gene for religion" that can be passed on to ones children. Senator Obama never lived with his father, and chose Christianity for all of his adult life. His church, in fct, is where he first heard about "the audacity of hope." I used to think everyone should vote, but now I think there ought to be an IQ test first.

  • Posted By: Texas Jake @ 02/02/2008 11:01:04 AM

There are three Republican candidates left, not two; as the media would have you believe... Google Ron Paul. The overwhelming major political party in America is the disenchanted, frustrated, Independents. Silently waiting for the Big Media propaganda machine to play their games, and then slamming Dr Paul into the presidency. In a few short months, we'll be hearing "A vote for Paul is a vote for Obama" and oher scare tactics... There is a revolution comming... and it is not Obama (as if), Clintion (again), Mac (same old bs), Mit (sly fox), despite what the headlines tell you. Anyone who is tired of getting helplessly screwed over by our government should suddenly appear at the ballots and send Dr. Paul in to kick some butt. Dont believe the [pre-programmed] reporters when they tell you you'll be throwing your vote away. Paul is a total pain in Big Gov's ass and I like it!

    • Posted By: Zombiehero @ 02/02/2008 1:03:06 PM

Wow... truly amazing. But you do make a point. Indepentents will help decide the race this year especially if McCain is the Rep nominee. You see Obama supporters as crazy, Obama supporters see your revolution and crazy. Either way its the same Washington. Dems and Reps won't want to deal with Paul in the White House and the Right won't deal with Obama in the White House. IE same mess we are in now

  • Posted By: MusketeerX @ 02/02/2008 1:01:44 PM

One thing that people keep saying is that Obama lacks experience to run this country. However, if you look at what he has done over the course of his life, I whole heartedly disagree. For instance he has spent his entire of his adult life helping others. This tells me that he is going to be looking out for the people's best interests and not lobbyists. While he was in both the Chicago and US senate he passed sweeping and comprehensive bills on health care, education, immigration and ethics reformation.

Each major bill he passed had backing by many republicans. When looking to the person he is competing against, she actually has many of the same experiences, just not to the same success as Obama. Her health care bill failed miserably becasue she couldn't work with both Republicans and Democrats, and her other bills that she signed onto were on some of the same issues as Barack.

Barack also makes the good point that the 35 years she had in Politics did not give her the common sense or foresight to vote against the war in Iraq (which in my opinion should have been a no-brainer at the time). She voted for it because it was politically correct to do so after 9/11. That's fine, but she does not have the experience that she claims. Or if she does, it is either bad experience, or otherwise she doesn't know how to use it.

Mintosh: I have no answer for you, I just have my opinion and could be wrong who is to say who is correct. That is what makes this country great.I do not understand people getting upset over opinions but it is okay I guess. If I have made any one on here mad I am sorry but that will not change my opinion on the matter at hand.

    • Posted By: reneechamley @ 02/02/2008 1:01:16 PM

When your "opinion" is a deliberate attack on another human being, not rooted in any fact whatsoever, I believe THAT is why people get upset.
But I'm sure you are well aware of that, and are posting just to get a reaction.
I'm going to go do something to help out another person just to counteract your negative vibes. Whether you like it or not, you created something positive!

  • Posted By: OBAMA BIN_LADEN_BASHER @ 02/02/2008 11:49:16 AM

OBAMA BIN_LADEN OH NO!!!!!!!!!!!! I can not believe you people would vote for this man, he will be the end of this country. I can not and will not vote for someone who is not of this nationality. He might have been born here but he is not American. That would be like putting a Mexican in the white house, some are born here but they are still MEXICAN. Get it morons.

    • Posted By: MusketeerX @ 02/02/2008 12:51:48 PM

I am a lifelong Republican (only voted for one Democrat in my life). My wife is a life long Democrat (has yet to vote for her first Republican). If it is Obama vs McCain, we both agree that we will vote for Obama. If it is Clinton vs McCain, we both agree that we will vote for McCain. It is a matter of who has the most integrity in our minds.

  • Posted By: 15R8 @ 02/02/2008 12:33:03 PM

I am a registered conservative. I find it odd that any republican would support Obama exept for the reason of defeating Hillary. I remember how loyal my mother was to ike. there was her I like IKE pin proudly displayed.
However she had to admitt IKE did nothing for the poor and he got this country into Vietnam.
again is this Kennedy Obama Kerry thing do we really want that/

  • Posted By: OBAMA BIN_LADEN_BASHER @ 02/02/2008 12:13:22 PM

O8AMA, I will be at the polls.Voting for HILLARY and I would never burn a cross. I am not a prejudice person I dont believe that anyone other then an american should be able to hold office. As far as a person I do not know him and I think he might be allright but I would never take a chance on it and let this country be hurt more then it already has been. You can say what you want as I because we are free to say it, but there could come a time if we are not careful that freedom of speech will be no longer, as well as all the other freedoms.

    • Posted By: O8AMA @ 02/02/2008 12:32:01 PM

Yeesh, I don't know where to start. Saying things like "A person who is born in the US who is of Mexican descent has no business being President because the are MEXICAN" can really only be interpreted one way. Your logic makes a lot of sense--to racists.

  • Posted By: mintosh @ 02/02/2008 12:24:37 PM

Oh really - and so what about a Navajo - of the southwest. nomadic people that traversed what is now the Mexican/American Border? What if he can trace his lineage to this border area? What really makes one a mexican - or an american?

  • Posted By: OBAMA BIN_LADEN_BASHER @ 02/02/2008 12:15:34 PM

Mintosh: I would have no problem I believe history is wrong and the Indian was here first and we did them wrong.

  • Posted By: RuthieM @ 02/02/2008 12:00:43 PM

If Obama never ever wins the democratic nomination he would have done more for the democratic party, more for his rivals' candidacies, more for our country, than anyone else running for president today and perhaps more than some past presidents have might have even done towards the electrifying of the young and old, bringing them into 'the system', towards the unification of a people, towards a less divided America! OBAMA '08!!!

  • Posted By: OBAMA BIN_LADEN_BASHER @ 02/02/2008 11:56:18 AM

Omama Bin-Laden I can not believe you people would vote for a person not of American nationality. It would be like a Mexican running for the white house, some were born here and that is okay and I heve no problem with that but they should not be able to run this country because they are still MEXICAN. Get it you ignorant people.
