I am an evangelical Christian and Registered Republican and Voted for Bush in 2004, but after listening
to Obama I have become "Obamacan", and so are 15 of my Evangelical Christian Friends. Go OBAMA.

Don't forget. We love you Obamacans, but you'll need to re-register as Democrats to vote in the Election. Be sure to check on the deadlines in your state. GO OBAMA!

I truly have no idea why some people are Republicans given the issues they say they care about. The issues of "global warming, an aging population, and America's standing in the world" are fundamentally incompatible with the Republican wants of a small government, personal responsibility, low taxes, free market, and their brand of a strong national defense. Addressing global warming requires huge government interference with the free market. Any government solutions to address the problems of America???s aging population would require huge amounts of tax money and little requirement of personal responsibility for one???s own misfortune. Few Republican???s since Eisenhower have cared about what other countries in the world thought of the US, as long as they thought we were the superpower.

So I understand when someone votes Republican because they do not want to pay for help from the government and???on the other side of the coin???they do not care if the government helps other people. But it is disingenuous to pretend that a small, poor, government can do anything about restraining greenhouse gas emissions, providing welfare for an aging population, or being a force in global diplomacy. If you want government to address those issues, you are a Democrat, not a new kind of Republican.

Why can't Obama just go out and talk the issues??? Why does he need "others" to entertain for him?

I have no problem with Obama as a muslim..so lets be clear about it. I have problem with him being a muslim and a christian at the same time. This says alot about a person's character. Seriously, we are not here to demonize anyone. But we are talking of electing the the leader of our nation.

There are three Republican candidates left, not two; as the media would have you believe... Google Ron Paul. The overwhelming major political party in America is the disenchanted, frustrated, Independents. Silently waiting for the Big Media propaganda machine to play their games, and then slamming Dr Paul into the presidency. In a few short months, we'll be hearing "A vote for Paul is a vote for Obama" and oher scare tactics... There is a revolution comming... and it is not Obama (as if), Clintion (again), Mac (same old bs), Mit (sly fox), despite what the headlines tell you. Anyone who is tired of getting helplessly screwed over by our government should suddenly appear at the ballots and send Dr. Paul in to kick some butt. Dont believe the [pre-programmed] reporters when they tell you you'll be throwing your vote away. Paul is a total pain in Big Gov's ass and I like it!

JenniferAmelia what a liar you are. Who wouldn't vote for an opposing candidate for a million bucks? It's obvious your a member of the Hil-liar-y clan. And it appears you fit perfectly.

First of all Senator Obama is NOT a MUSLIM. But all the ignorant people who think he is a MUSLIM, I want
to ask them, Why Americans and Christians go all around the world converting people to Christian Faith?
According to recent Survey , Christian Faith Groups converted 6.9Million people from around the World,
in 2007 alone. Don't we Christian Americans want the whole world becomes Christian? Anybody?

in is how change does he represent. Is he not the same old, same old washington warrior?.
With Obama, America will fundamentally change & transform itself into a better, more prosperous & equitable nation and be a light on the hill for the rest of world.Just imagine how the world will be forced to view America in a new light!!!. America the imperialist, racist, anti third world etc will be turned to America the land of true equality, democracy. If we can not countnance the idea of a black president by our deeds or votes, how can we preach democracy to the rest of the world when we don't practise what we preach. Seeing is believing. The opportunity for a transformional transcendance is immerse both for our nation and the rest of the world only the fanatic can imagine or contemplate!!!.

    • Posted By: DCSteve @ 02/02/2008 10:25:04 AM

You are saying we have to vote for Obama because he is black, as a way to demonstate that the US is not imperialist, racist anti-third world? Wow. That is a an argument I have never heard before, and I have heard some good ones.

Why does it even matter what religious group Barack belongs to? Last time I checked a man or woman was to be known by his or her DEEDS, not by affiliation with a certain group. Let his words and the way he lives his life speak his truth. Let his sincerity, concern and compassion show the depth of his concern for our country, not just getting elected. Thinking people are not fooled by those who say a man or woman is good or bad based on affiliation with any group.

Leadership means inspiring people. Making them proud of their country again. Believe me, if Obama is elected president, no more Americans abroad, will be telling people that they are from Canada, which they do regularly.

An Australian citizen I have no say in your elections. What I have picked up as an observer is the desire for change. The dark and stifling years under the Bush government have made people hungry for a fresh look at Americas handling of world events, from terrorism to climate change and the perception the rest of the inhabitants of this small, fragile piece of rock we must rely on for our existence have of you guys

we all have to sharehave of the USA

Obama is selling a pipe dream. As a devout Dem, I guess I'm immune to the Obama infection that everyone seems to be getting. Call me pragmatic, call me delusional or call me a cynic, but there no "New Blood" in Washington. Obama is just loved by the media for now. May as well have him run with Brit Spears as a VEEP, the media loves her too. When and if he gets the Dem Nomination, he will be torn apart for his lack of any credible experience. And everyone is foolish to think that Obama isn't going to cave in to Lobbyist groups, look and see where his money is coming from... its only a matter of time before the media become disenfranchised with him. But the flip from party norm goes both ways...if it is Obama for '08... You'll be hearing a lot more from "Democrats for McCain"

Well, it's damn sure about time! This media created nonsense about a 'Conservative Base' is absolute bunk. The Conservatives are as an important part of the Republican Party as are the Librals and the Centerists; no one part of the party is capable of existing without the others, no matter what the media pundits, who would like nothing better than a ratings generating, hair pulling, knock down drag out fight. So it's more than time, Ike, Abe and Ron can rest in peace, maybe.

While we all have differences (I even disagree with Obama on several issues, though he gets my vote) I agree that much of the two parties pitted against each other is a result of a media frenzy to manufacture news. I have friends and neighbors who I adore in other political parties. Obama speaks to the traits in each of us that has made this country great - coming together to accomplish great things.
