i am a mother of two children. the stresses of everyday life can take a toll on anyone who is either rich or poor. Everyone is saying britney is "bi-polar", I have not heard one person even suggest she maybe suffering from post-partum disorder!!! That maybe a factor in this. Instead of waiting for the worst her family should have every aspect of her behavior checked out!! I truly believe that is what this poor girl is suffering from. I truly hope she gets the help she needs and is left alone by the vultures that see her as a cash cow and remember she herself is only human who is suffering. Britney feels like she is stuck in her own mind and believe me that is a lonely place when no-one can hear your cries for help because you aren't allowed to fall apart. In todays society it is and always been unacceptable for a woman and mother to fail at her responsibility to care for her children. People forget that not everyone has your best intrest all the time. It is usually those around you that are not listening to you or "brushing it" under the carpet. Lets face it YES britney dropped the ball but her so called friends and family were more concerned what the press was going to do to her then actually getting to the heart of the problem. If this situation doesn't get the right combination of people to help her brintney is going to be another statistic!

I think it's more than despicable that so many people are labeled as bipolar. It's becoming THE excuse for people to behave badly. Bipolar is an actual illness - in the old days they called it being manic-depressive. It's not an excuse for bad behavior. Are there really THAT many people who are bi-polar? Apparently it's becoming an epidemic. I work in a Social Services position and I hear people all the time who claim to be bi-polar when all they're doing is using it as an excuse to behave badly. I don't believe Britney Spears is bi-polar - she would surely have been behaved in such a way it would have come out before now. I'm like all of the commentors who believe she's just another spoiled, overindulged "popstar" who thinks she can do whatever she wants to because she's famous. Please. She needs to take some of her money and spend it on some reality classes and rehab. Get over yourself, Britney. You're not that great.

Institutionalize anyone with a mental illness...? A bit harsh I think. There are thousands of people walking around that have been diagnosed with some type of mental illness. Only a fraction of a percent murder their children. It would be totally wrong to lock up all mentally ill people because of the actions of a few.

I'm sure the L.A. Police would rather be somewhere else focused on fighting crime but the first officers on the scene probably felt that there was a potential for trouble from the crowd and called for backup. I can't blame them. I wouldn't want to trust my safety with a family hired private security guard that I know nothing about.

did anyone notice that the media was focused on heath ledger's death and not on circus freak spears. obviously when she found out she wasn't the center of attention she had this so called mental breakdown.

LAPD has nothing better to do? The Spears family (sic) can afford private security for this stuff. No wonder crime is so rampant in LA !

It is always a sad situation when someone's kids are taken away but obviously the courts found some evidence that the kids were in danger or else she would still have some kind of contact with them. It is not right to keep a mother away from her kids if she puts them in danger? Keeping her sane is not an excuse for endangering innocent children. The same goes for fathers too.

Isn't it against the law to chase an amblance and/or to follow within a certain number of feet from an ambulance? The article said that during the last episode, the paparazzi were climbing on the bumper.

Forget "mental illness", Brittany is no different than other celebrities who cannot restrain themselves from excesses like drugs, partying, alcohol or sex and end up out of control - Jim Morrison, Janis Joplin, Elvis Presley just to name a few. (As sometimes also happens with lottery winners)

Seems she also fits into the genre of totally self-centered, attention-craving egomaniac who think that because they have money and fame, they are so special that they can do whatever the hell they want and get away with it - Michael Jackson and O.J. Simpson.

Don't blame Federline - she wanted him, then tossed him aside like so much garbage, just because she could. Just because he married a woman with a lot of money doesn't mean he does not love his kids. If a woman married a man with lots of money, then got tossed aside while he went out binging, drinking, partying etc., no one would be attacking the woman saying she was only in it for the money and should lose
    the kids too.

Love ALL the "armchair psychologists" commenting on Ms. Speers recent antics! My feeling is that she is and overindulgent, spoiled, attention seeking diva....and NEEDS to be outrageous in order to be published. Furthermore, I would like the children to become wards of the state and have a loving,. stable couple adopt and give them the kind of home they deserve. She is a train wreak, as her younger sister, who grew up too fast with no moral roots. Shame on her parents for not providing strong guidelines.

    Sincerely,
    BA Miller Stacey

you should probably educate yourself in the area of mental disorders before you point fingers and rip her life apart and condem her for something that is out of her control.....

If you want to discuss mental illness...

I'm seriously wondering if some of you people know who you really are, let alone how you have found a little piece of Britney who defines you to such a degree that you're commenting on her well-being, in spite of the picture of the larger world falling to pieces around you, that you're completely missing because you're focussed on what people who you have no real way of knowing think about Britney Spears. The same goes for the people who criticize her.

britney is whacked and everyone know's it , she is 5150 and she has done this to herself ,so why blame the parents they tried and the stardom of fame went to her head and she married a loser who did everything he could to make her go crazy and it worked and he got the kids and he got support from her and the other two loser she went out with did not help her , you know the to paris and lindsay , two beauty's with no brains

Welcome to town Brit and Jamie Lynn!

I am definately no britney spears fan and i think shes extremely irrisponsable and should get her life togethe, but if she really is ill, i believe people should give her some slack....i think i would have locked myself in the bathroom with my son, with the unbearable thought of having someone i love being torn from me AGAIN though im not saying its right....though britney was wild nd crazy before the children were taken away, she really spiraled down aftter she lost them completely, it is not right to keep a mother away from her children and i believe those kids were the only thing keeping her sane....may God be with britney , irrisponsability and all... Miller Stacey get a life!!

I have seen the Beverly Hillbillys and I too was always suspicious of that whole "Texas T'" theory.

Ever watch the Beverly Hillbilly's? Anyone, anyone?

Think of the difficulties the paramedics would have had if the police escort wasn't there. Notice there wasn't a video from the point of leaving the gates to the hospital? I wonder why that was... There wasn't even an idiot paparazzi pic where they ran a red light to get that one pic that we all just had to have. Hmmm... I guess that means the public at large was protected from these Looney photographers putting everyone at risk by trying to get that one pic that can result in someone???s death because they aren't paying attention to anyone around them. I think it was a good $25K spent since they won't outlaw the activities of these leeches...

  • Posted By: orangecrest @ 02/03/2008 2:08:49 PM

I am glad the LAPD did what they did... The paramedics should have placed paper over the windows the first time they took her to the hospital. That was extremely personal and should have been taken into consideration when taking a high profile person to the hospital.
