McCain will get slaughtered by any democratic candidate.

Even the republicans want change that is why McCain will eventually win the nomination. A lot of republicans will vote for Obama in the national election. WHY? THIS ADMINISTRATION is MISGUIDED KARL. THE AMERICAN people cannot stay stupid forever. We want the best future for our children. Many Republicans are disenchanted with the current administration and their own nominee. Instead of voting for McCain they will vote democrat. There is no way a Republican can win this election. McCain will keep the race close but will lose in thirty seven states. It is time to implement the Jeffersonian doctrine, and take back control of OUR GOVERNMENT.
Remember the republicans had control of all three branches of government and did nothing. No one is going to fall for this again. Gore and Kerry must be scratching their heads and wondering how on earth they lost. The Republicans and JEB BUSH have to wait four more years.

FInally someone who recognizes that corporate America has indoctrinated the average JOE. JOE IS IN DEBT because he consistently made bad investments. Why do you think that the FED lowered interest rates twice. THEY do not want AMERICAN CITIZENS TO SAVE and INVEST rather they want you to spend at all costs.
STAY STUpid is the theme in this tragedy. IT is the reason many Americans are needlessly going broke. Many HAVE BEEN completely indoctrinated spend and make bad investments.
EIGHTY percent of the world's capital is owned by a thirteen to twenty families. BUSH's are directly linked to these families. THE QUEEN of ENGLAND is part of this as well. IT IS IN THEIR BEST INTEREST TO KEEp people STUpid. INDOCTRINATE THEM TO Spend and manipulate the economy through the FEDERAL RESERVE to encourage people to spend. EVERY AMERICAN needs to learn this RULE.
The middle class has been the victim of corporate indoctrination. Stay StuPid. They do not want you to double your money they want you to double their money. Every middle class family should be able to do compound interest problems in their heads. It can be learned in grade two. It is a very useful skill to have because it gives you a lightning fast benchmark to determine how good (or not so good) a potential investment is likely to be.
The rule says that to find the number of years required to double your money at a given interest rate, you just divide the interest rate into 72. For example, if you want to know how long it will take to double your money at eight percent interest, divide 8 into 72 and get 9 years. If the Middle Class can make better financial decisions it would have a profound affect on the economy.
The rule A stronger middle class will make the rich richer in the long run and helP uPlift the Poor.

Dear Karl; you really are the king of spin. It is not the days; It is the number of primaries, buddy. 1988 : 3. 1996 : 4. 2000: 6. 2008 : 8 and counting

  • Posted By: Inspector72 @ 02/04/2008 1:38:19 AM

The "crackup" that people are reporting on has little to do with how many days it takes to have a nominee decided and more to do with the split in the party on the actual issues. The war and imigration are two of the biggest issues and the party is servely split on what direction to go in on both. Also the candidate most likely to win (McCain) is a devisive figure within the party.

I have a feeling that you are a Mormon. Am I right.

The following statement was made by Karl Rove: "As people do better, they start voting like Republicans--unless they have too much education and vote Democratic."

  • Posted By: Saltydog_0 @ 02/04/2008 6:41:04 PM

Yaawwwnn. . . .Hm? what's that? Did you say something Carl?

The GOP's doin ok after all you say?

Okey dokey. (Pat's on the head)

How can Republicans possibly think they have a prayer this year? Are they really happy with where their leadership has lead this country? Do they think over half the nation is happy with it? As a long-time Independent (and a Mormon), I haven't seen a single new idea from either McCain or Romney. Nothing new is not good. We must embrace a different course. The Right's insistence that no candidate can be worthy of the presidency without having sworn in blood to forever scream opposition to same-sex marriage, abortion, step-cell research, etc. represents the downfall of Republicanism. Don't issues like caring for the poor and needy, valuing peace, and spending less than you earn hold any weight? Go ahead, try voting some different issues for a change. I'm sure the Lord will approve.

No candidate can be worthy of the presidency when they advocate huge, nanny state government, increased taxes, unsupported military, appeasement to other nations, entitlements to minorities only so they can harvest votes, big government run life and collectivist, multicutural socialism as a response to the terrifying "white, Christian man" machine. I am sorry you were picked last every time for kickball but EVOLVE!

      • Posted By: choonzer @ 02/03/2008 6:30:16 PM

First of all, I am in fact a "white Christian (sort of) man." I was also darn good a kickball.

To suggest that the status quo in our nation is some sort of "evolution" from where we were prior Bush is frankly delusional. This administration has driven many moderate republicans like myself into the middle of the aisle, it's pretty much only the far right that make up his anemic approval rating. I guess you're one of those few.

        • Posted By: daplane @ 02/03/2008 11:58:18 PM

I agree with the "sort of" man part as you describe yourself.

          • Posted By: choonzer @ 02/04/2008 6:37:23 PM

Clever, except that words in parenthesis always refer to the PRECEEDING word. I see you preaching grammar to other posters here, maybe you should schedule another lesson or two yourself.

On the other hand, I guess that's the best comeback you could think of, given your indefensible love for the policies of our current administration.

Newsweek, why do you continue to let this piece of human waste write in your publication??? You are doing serious damage to your reputation by paying and letting KKKarl write for Newsweek.

  • Posted By: bushbulldog @ 02/04/2008 2:01:23 PM

This is from the same man who predicted G.O.P. gains in the last national election. Karl, go back to giving speeches to the koolade drinkers in the G.O.P. and wait for the Great Pumpkin.

  • Posted By: southpaw2008 @ 02/04/2008 1:13:40 PM

After 7 years of the Bush regime, I must say by far this has been the absolute worse presidency ever. I never saw a man so out of touch with reality as George W Bush. I guess all those years of a booze soaked brain will do it.

why is newsweek giving a forum of any kind to a man who has helped do so much to damage this country?

  • Posted By: piinalu @ 02/04/2008 9:05:09 AM

A Karl Rove article is death by a thousand cuts - too many little, slightly inaccurate statements to answer without writing volumes (Reagan "gift" of making Human Rights a key part of foreign policy? More than Carter before him? Plus a dozen or so more like it). It requires time consuming attention to detail that makes for dull reading. He's a master at it, but it just highlights for me that his time, and those of Republicans and Democrats like him, has past. Let's turn the page.

***Insiders Tip: Rush Limbaugh to endorse Romney on Monday's show after weekend talks!

    • Posted By: HolyRoller @ 02/03/2008 11:26:19 PM

Romney is probably going to lose Mass. to McCain. McCain has double digit lead in all reputable polls. GET OVER IT.

  • Posted By: Grapevine @ 02/03/2008 5:57:05 PM

Believe me, no one 'hates' Karl Rove because they're jealous. The man's biggest claim to fame is that he is the architect of a presidency that can't even pull a 30 percent approval rating. As bad as Nixon when he resigned to avoid imminent removal from office.

Rove's biggest 'success' is positioning George W. Bush as likely the worst president in our 232 year history as a Republic. Wow, what a great accomplishment. By giving Rove a column, it's as if Newsweek were trying to create print pages so readers could potty train a new puppy without spoiling the rest of the magazine.

let us stay on topic.karl rove and fox news are keen bed fellows.now we as americans must drive a stake through the heart of neo-conservatism.

Sean Carman - the next David Foster Wallace I presume? Take your elitist libby drivel elsewhere you coward. You read this article just so you could post your "wisdom". Go back to teaching your community college philosophy course you dunce.
