WASHINGTON (Reuters) - Democrats Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama were locked in a near dead heat two days before the biggest presidential voting so far while John McCain tried to nail down the Republican nomination for the White House.

With 24 states holding nominating contests on Tuesday, the candidates spent their Sundays appearing on the morning television talk shows and campaigning across the country as polls showed the two races going in opposite directions.

The Democratic race, which Clinton once led handily, had narrowed to a nearly a draw in recent national polls.

Obama held a slight lead in California and was virtually tied with Clinton in New Jersey and Missouri -- three states voting on "Super Tuesday" -- in a Reuters/C-SPAN/Zogby poll released on Sunday. ...

Clinton health plan may mean tapping pay

WASHINGTON (AP) -- Democrat Hillary Rodham Clinton said Sunday she might be willing to garnish the wages of workers who refuse to buy health insurance to achieve coverage for all Americans.

The New York senator has criticized presidential rival Barack Obama for pushing a health plan that would not require universal coverage. Clinton has not always specified the enforcement measures she would embrace, but when pressed on ABC's "This Week," she said: "I think there are a number of mechanisms" that are possible, including "going after people's wages ..."

This guy can talk about the past all he wants. the truth is that the Republican party is having a hard time right now because of his failed policies. If Bush's approval rating was in the 60's instead of the low 30's the campain messages would all be focused on how we can continue Bush's success. Instead the message is change and neither Romney or McCain can offer an argument on how they can represent that change the country needs. therefore by default, the Democrats are the party of change so they have the momentum. I personally dont think Hillary offers much change, not as much as Obama represents anyway, which is why I think he is doing so well. You can look back a couple years ago and see that Rove was predicting Repblicans would keep control of both houses and of course he was wrong. He is just another political pundit trying to line his pockets with his banter in this crazy election season. He is just in the unique position of being directly responsible for the uphill battle the Republicans are facing. It doesnt have anything to do with people longing for LBJ or FDR or Reagan and I think Rove knows that. It must suck knowing that your actions have caused your beloved political party to loose it grasp of power. I think its careless to try to use past presidents to dirvert attention away from that, but I guess he cant stand up and say "my bad, sorry bout all that mess I caused." cant feel sorry for the guy though.
