Comment: "Our" Government Offiocials KNOW this is going on and cannot or will not try to stop it, Yet The KEEP on telling the American People crap like "the Surge is Working" "We're gaining valuable ground" & "Stay the course": To what end? Backruptcy, both Moral & financial? If the U.S. TRULY wanted to end this farce, ALL We have to do is LEAVE! The resulting infighting will eliminate the problem! JUST "Big OIL" won't get Their 80% "tax" on Iraqi Oil!

Comment: A sure case of the US biting of way more than it could possible chew. These people are pre-capitolism. Those suite in washington cant wrap there heads around that. If they have then they realize the only thing that will correct that situation is time. Which most american cant stomach the loses that we will recieve tryin to bring them up to speed. This guy below me talking about "Why" incentives is an idiot no harm intended. A farmers father was a farmer and his father before him so anyone to say stop doing what you are do cause its hurting the people in happy land. Yeah Right! And how is going to keep them in jail the same people they feel they are fighting for? Whose going to put them to death? Kill them huh? Yeah thats way better than the Taliban huh?

Comment: Why does there need to an incentive not to grow an illegal crop? Make the farmers who are still producing the poppy do jail time in the event that they were caught. There are several hundreds of acres in each location that are being produced at a time, so recon. planes should have no trouble spotting these large fields from the air. There also needs to be a system in place for the taliban insurgent detainees that turn back up in prison a second time for once again joining the ranks to be put to death. They are trying to kill american lives and get let out for $100? They have had a secong chance and continue to be a threat then they need to be taken care of, by means of the death penalty

Comment: The only way to stop the cash flow from heroin is to have a opiate option legalized in the US. If Codien and Hydrocodone were legal then 1. many heroin users would switch over to the lighter drugs. ( I can say that as a personel fact) 2. Alcoholism would drop A LOT! Codien would become the most popular intoxicant in the US. 3. Codien is safe. There is a line where you start to get sick and this line is way befor the overdose line.4. But most of all we would be free! or at least more so. The oppression that has been filling our prizons and paying for the CIA' s illegal wars financed by drugs sold into america would no longer exist. We would be able to exersize the most basic of human freedoms the freedom to chose what you put in your body. If it is dumb to buy/use drugs it is a whole lot dumber to have the system set up so you buy them from terrorist.

Comment: So we spend the lives of our soldiers to provide FREEDOM for a nation that doesn't want it and wouldn't know what to do with it if it had it. We should have changed our foreign policy at the end of the cold war and let the free market dictate the price of oil. If the price of oil got to high it would result in higher costs of food to those nations. That would have brought the price down faster and we wouldn't be in the mess we're in today. As a veteran I am saddened by the loss of the soldiers that gave their lives for this ill conceived war and the ones that survive with the losses of physical and mental nature. We will never see this change until we vote people of integrity and vision to lead the US out of this mess. How many of our planes are flying the drugs that are grown in Afghanistan and Pakistan back here to the US to supply drugs to our children!!!!

Comment: It's news like this that makes me favor a process of eradication of the poppy crop (without permission), coupled with coalition provision of Afghan necessities of life. We spend far too much on programs that have no measurable benefit. If our tax dollars were spent to feed, clothe, shelter, and educate the population, they'd have no reason to complain when we burn the poppy fields to the ground. Let the Taliban compete with that.

Comment: dear sir I am an afghan, I must say that every word of what you have wriiten is unfortunately true
I will allow myself to bring 1 or 2 more facts which should complete this picture, In our judicial and police forces there are a lot of (one time mujahidin ) who are today as well sympethetic towards the taliban or they were actully working for them, and the very low payment, today a Police earns 70$ ,a judge 75 $ a month

Comment: No surpruses here! The Taliban have plenty of drug money and the others have finacing from the oil producing countries. The U S has been financing a corrupt country like Pakistan and trying to claim victory in a terrible situation.
