You do not really know who HRC is! Go to Google Search and dig around Marian Wright Edelman, Lani Guinier and Joycelyn Elders and then come back and tell us how honest she is?
HRC is deceitful, dishonest, one very calculayion manipulator!
    See for yourself!

As a male who has fought for over thirty years for the rights of women, have endured the criticism of women who have been harmed by the idiocy of some men and some women also, and have raised a family that has always respected the independence and intelligence of women, I am insulted by sirena's comments.

To use phrases and words like "douche bag" or "duh" undermine the importance of what is happening before our eyes. I do not support Hillary Clinton for President; however, I support her as a human being, a parent, as a Senator.

Comment: There's nothing to presume: Hillary has toed Bush's line enough for it to be fairly obvious. She voted for the war (and feels she will be weakened to admit to it as a mistake, when only Republicans would believe that to be true); she voted against the Levin amendment that would have offered more time for inspections and diplomacy; for crying out loud, she voted with Bush to have Iran's Revolutionary Guard characterized as a terrorist organization to give him leverage to start a war there, and that was just within the last year! Hillary's spent so much time appeasing the Republicans I don't think she would recognize any Democratic values she had left.

I'm tired of people voting for supposed standards of perfection, instead of understanding that a little compromise is necessary to be effective. I really, really don't want to lose a third presidential election in a row.

      • Posted By: apolemic @ 02/04/2008 12:21:42 PM

The "compromise" in Hillary's case is that, by rolling over for Bush's policies and war strategy, she gets to look "tough" for voters. Who in her constituency benefits from this kind of compromise? Hillary Clinton is not in the business of compromise but political expedience.

What was it with Giuliani's silly grin? He did it all the time, it was so unnerving! Hillary is soiled goods, an American tragedy, destroyed by her husband. I think it'll be Obama and the first thing he should do if he becomes President is to address the aftermath of the horrible Iraq massacre.
Obama is my choice. His kindness, wisdom and decency is strikingly obvious. I hope he becomes President and when he does he should immediately address the horrible massacre in Iraq. Our country's unprovoked war on Iraq has left more than 1 million innocent Iraqi civilians dead. As a nation, we should begin to atone for this unspeakable act of brutality by first charging Bush and his collaborators for war crimes and crimes against humanity, after that cabal is removed from power.

Does America really want a sexually doped president?

Its no secrecy for insiders that the juvenile rinkle free face and sparkling eyes of the 61 year old are to a big part due to an oestrogen supplemt therapy. For sure, she knows to deal with the increased cancer and thrombosis risks caused by these hormones. But what do we know on the drug's side effects on foreign policy?
Oestrus means heat. Makes females long for nestling, especiallu to males.
Wich effect does it have when Chaves comes for a state visit to the White House? Not to imagine wehn just some days earlier he was hit by one of Naomi Campel's mobile phones.
Will he keep it as a secrete?
Or when Sarkozy visits the White House?
It can have a positive effect, but as an oldfashioned European I would advice my demcrat fellows in the USA not to take the risk. Obama is a very good alternative.
Wich effects does it have on the Ovale Office, especially when we remember her husband?

    • Posted By: sirena @ 02/04/2008 11:35:50 AM

Wait wait wait... i bet most of the men who are running have ED and need to take Viagra... i feel like that lack of being able to "get it up" and have sex has a worse effect on a man (because to have sex and make babies is obviously a mans job on this planet duh) than some estrogen therapy.
that was all a joke. who gives a damn about the physical health. we need to pay more attention to the mental health/ IQ of our president. maybe if we did that we would not have voted for that douche bag bush TWICE!

Old white guy on pot, right? Do you want her to look like your grandmonther? Stay in Europe.

I think the competition between Obama and Hillary has revealed itself as generational. The baby boomers have controlled the WHite House for the last 16 years. That is essenitally a generation.

Part of the reason that younger voters have jumped onto the Obama Bandwagon is they are fed up with baby boomers - be they Bill, George or Hillary - running the show. As JFK said: "the torch is being passed to a new generation of Americans . . ." Sorry, Hillary - you're a day late and a dollar short.

CUBA is not a viable issue in this year's democratic nomination process. America should reduce it's nuclear arsernal. You only need a couple of bombs to annihalate this planet. Reducing a nuclear aresernal is not a solution. WE do not want other nations to obtain nuclear weapons period. WE do not want them to reduce their arsernal we want to eliminate their arsernal. INDIA and pakistan should not have nuclear weapons. AMERICA needs to step in and help the Indians solve their failed KASMIR policy. IT IS A THREAT TO OUR NATIONAL SECURITY, CUBA IS NOT. THE AMERICAN people are much more concerned with what is "going on" in pakistan and the surrounding area in Centra ASIA. OBAMA IS ON THE RIGHT SIDE OF THIS ISSUE. ONCE AGAIN CUBA is not a factor in this years democratic nomination process.

This artical isn't about Cuba, it's about Hillary, and how she is unwiling or affraid to move forward.

    Sir,
Your insight are well articulated. I have to agree with you. This is probably the same reason she voted on the Iraq war. For America to stand great we need a real leader and not a POLITICAL ACTUARY as you described.

  • Posted By: David G @ 02/04/2008 10:57:44 AM

Fareed, I must agree with your assessment here, but wish you were more forthright in saying what you really believe... Hillary Clinton says only what people want her to say, and not what she believes... That's dangerous and tragic if she gets in... Solution, don't vote her in. D.

  • Posted By: sammadino @ 02/04/2008 10:56:03 AM

    Sir,
Well articulated. I feel she made the same calculation when she voted for the war on Iraq. Not leadership but playing political actuary.

Newsweek's pro-Obama stand has turned it into a 24/7 Obama Marketing campaign.

I am not surprised that there are at least four pro-Obama pieces (as the following) now on Newsweek's site while there is no one article for Hillary leading to Super Tuesday.

    Pro-Obama pieces:

    1. Twilight of a Baby Boom
    2. Barack + GOP = ???Obamacans???
    3. JFK???s Heir
    4. The Wrong Experience

    Pro-Hillary peices:

    zero

What's Newsweek's fairness in terms of news reporting?

Is Hillary not a legitimate candidate who at least should be given the equal exposure of Newsweek's coverage leading to Super Tuesday?

I was an Obama supporter until mainstream media's unfair treatment towards this primary election circle. It doesn't sit well with my sense of fairness.

I know Obama phenomenon has everything to do with 24/7 mainstream media's favorable courage. Without mainstream media???s macrophone, can Obama so quickly enlarge to god-like stature? I sense that mainstream media???s love for Obama is originated from certain anti-Clinton sentiment.

I am not surprised Obama is doing so well so quickly. As a candidate if you have 24/7 mainstream media on your side and they are eager to give you a free ride, how can you not get ahead?

Ha ha ha, I just remembered how these magazines and CNN rooted for Kerry.... You know what, They will see who is the boss in November. As per Freed, "experience" is actually a bad thing, ya ya .

Good for Obama this ridiculous non recognition of Cuba has gone on far to long. We can't deal with Castro, a communist, but we can deal with a military dictator musharaff. We can't deal with Cuba because of civil rights abuses but we can keep prisoners we torture at Guantanamo. It's time to stop being hypocrites and accept the worlds differences instead of trying to change them to suit us.

The issue of the Iraq war is always brought up by Barack HUSSEIN noting he was against it from the start, bla bla bla, we've heard it, you can be quiet now. The reason Hillary voted for it was that she was fed the mis-leading information like the rest of us, and believed that inspectors needed to get in there since there were such deadly weapons widespread as we were told. So she like the majority of the country believed that it ws a necessary evil to fight global terrorism based on what Bush presented. Years later we all now know that much of it was lies and mis-information, so we were all mis-lead. But did you ever stop an think why was it that barack HUSSEIN voted against it,when all that was presented was overwhelming that it was imminent that WMD would be used/shared with terrorists, I mean he had spent a lot of time growing up in the middle east ??? Why was he the minority and voted against it, while all conventional wisdom said otherwise. Makes me wonder.

Tonight at 9 PM Eastern on the eve of Super Tuesday there will be a national town hall event that will be a conversation between Senator Hillary Clinton and the country.

This event will give Senator Clinton a chance to hear from all Americans about their hopes, fears, concerns, and vision of their future and will let Senator Clinton explain her views on how to help the United States to get back on the right track, to get us to true universal health care, to fix our economy, to get us out of Iraq with honor, to address the dangers of global warming, to combat poverty and hunger, and how best to protect the United States from future threats.

    From Hillary Clinton's Website
On Monday, February 4, Hillary will answer Americans' questions in an unprecedented national town hall giving voters in Super Tuesday states the chance to make their voices heard.

The town hall, hosted by former ABC News anchor Carole Simpson, will air on Hallmark Channel and be streamed online at HillaryClinton.com. Hillary will anchor the town hall in New York, while President Bill Clinton, Chelsea Clinton, and national and local surrogates will serve as hosts at events in the other states.

By going to Hillary Clinton's website you can find locations that will be having this event live and will give you a way to enter a question for her to answer at this national town hall meeting.

This will be a great opportunity for all of you to see Hillary Clinton and listen to her on her solutions for America and for her to have one final opportunity to ask for your vote prior to Super Tuesday.

I'm willing to compromise a little on principle in order to raise chances of a democrat getting elected. Look what we got when principle ruled enough Nader voters to cause Gore to lose. Eight years of arrogant fundamentalist against arrogant fundamentalist, resulting in regress instead of progress.

You presume an awful lot about Hillary Clinton, Mr. Zakaria. Just because her husband had a particular policy when he was president doesn't mean she would/will have the same policy. Despite your ramblings, she's not a clone of Bill.

FAREED ZAKARIA WOULD YOU BE WILLING TO SERVE ON A OBAMA COMMITTEE To help broker a deal that will solve the KASHMIR conflict. DO you think you have the skills to actually provide solutions. FAREED you need to criticize less and use your writing skill to advocate solutions to problems. point out the problem and then write about the solution. You have to take your game to another level. YOUR AMERICAN NOW.

No LATIN AMERICAN COUNTRY INCLUDING CUBA HAS NUCLEAR WEApons. From this point of view American policy has been a success. DO not worry once FIDEL CASTRO IS GONE CUBA will begin integrating into the AMERICAN economy. OBAMA WANTS TO MOVE ON. HE KNOWS THE WAY TO REFORM CUBA IS THROUGH ECONOMIC INCLUSION.
