Comment: What! What has he seen? Nothing fool. Has he seen thorugh the eyes of a 6 year old's who hasn't eatern for a week, whose bones are sticking out of body, whose skin is stretched so tightly over those bones that is shines. Has he seen through the eyes of a two year old sitting next to the dead boy of his mother murdered by rebels. He has not seen nothing! He uses his POW status as the basis of his election. That gives you no rights at all to even consider yourself Presidential material.

Comment: The Many "Quotes" of Barack Obama

"I don't think my church is particularly controversial."

Rev. Wright is "like an old uncle who sometimes says things I don't agree with."

"The emotion between the races could never be pure..... the other race would always remain just that: menacing, alien, and apart."

"I ceased to advertise my mother's race at the age of 12 or 13, when I began to suspect that by doing so I was ingratiating myself to whites"

"never emulate white men and brown men whose fates didn't speak to my own. It was into my father's image, the black man, son of Africa, that I'd packed all the attributes I sought in myself..".

"I am not in favor of concealed weapons. I think that creates a potential atmosphere where more innocent people could (get shot during) altercations."

"The person who made me proudest of all, though, was [half brother] Roy .. He converted to Islam."

"...I've got two daughters. 9 years old and 6 years old. I am going to teach them first of all about values and morals. But if they make a mistake, I don't want them punished with a baby."

"I cannot swallow whole the view of Lincoln as the Great Emancipator."

"I opposed the Defense of Marriage Act in 1996. It should be repealed and I will vote for its repeal on the Senate floor. I will also oppose any proposal to amend the U.S. Constitution to ban gays and lesbians from marrying."

"You know, my faith is one that admits some doubt."

Comment: I guess Barack is shaken by all the bloggers and websites floating the Net because he has formed a "dream team" to help fight us! Senator Obama has formed a team to battle his negative image on the Internet. Why would he be concerned about articles that he claims are lies and misconceptions? Do you think that maybe a good percentage of those articles may speak the truth?

Is it coincidence that Obama graduated from Harvard, a school with one of the largest Muslim organizations (HIS - Harvard Islamic Society) located on campus since 1955.

Is it coincidence that Barack was repulsed by a very successful Republican President Ronald Reagan and is enamored by one of our worst Presidents in history Jimmy Carter?

Is it coincidence that Larry Sinclair is getting death threats after stating he had a drug encounter and two gay sex encounters with Obama about 8 years ago?

Is it coincidence that Obama had absolutely NO PROBLEM with his church or pastor until the year that he ran for President and then he amazingly saw the light?

Is it coincidence that Barack received donations from, visited the home of and is friends with Pentagon and Police Headquarters Bomber William Ayres? Is that Liberal enough for you?

Is it coincidence that 16 times convicted felon Tony Rezko donated thousands to Obama's campaign in Illinois, basically buying him the election, than receiving millions in Illinois contracts for himself and associates?

Is it coincidental that Obama has all these questionable ties and with little to no political experience has received over $264 Million in campaign contributions?

Is it going to be coincidence when Democratic opponents John Edwards receives an Attorney General's position and Hillary Clinton will get a Supreme Court nomination for their quick change in support FOR Barack Hussein Obama should he be victorious in November?

Who is controlling this puppet. We may find out soon enough. I guess this article and others will put us on the Internet dream team's radar. Bring it on Obama Sheeple, you can't handle the truth!

Comment: It was reported by all the major news networks that Barack Obama drew a crowd of over 70,000 to hear him speak in Oregon. What the liberal media does not tell you is that the true crowd drawer was the concert that occurred just before his speech.

The real rock stars at the Obama event were the members of a popular Oregon beat combo calling itself the Decemberists. Yes, just like the 1825 Russian uprising. Wikipedia states: "The band has used the National Anthem of the Soviet Union as an introduction at many concerts." Oh, no wonder they're opening for Neville Chamberlain.

Comment: Police officers in Portland, Oregon, are still waiting for an apology from Barack Obama after campaign staffers of his recent rally in Portland, Oregon, setup porta potties directly on top of the Portland Police Memorial, which honors the agency???s 25 fallen police officers.

The Obama rally drew a crowd of over 75,000 people.

Officer Thomas Brennan, who was working overtime at the rally, took a picture of the offending toilets, with the American flag still at half mast because of Police Officers Memorial Day, directly behind them. The local law enforcement memorial service had been held at the site only five days earlier.

Despite a large amount of open areas in the vicinity, the campaign staffers claimed the toilets were placed on the memorial for safety reasons to accommodate wheelchair access.

At a time when Law Enforcement Officers are losing their lives in the line of duty on a daily basis, the Obama campaign shows NO SYMPATHY! Barack is ANTI LAW ENFORCEMENT! That is proven in his voting record. He votes for laws to protect the criminal more than for the police officer or law abiding citizen! The Obama campaign has not responded to requests for an apology.

Comment: President Obama Signs $8500.00 Per Household Tax Into Law: Funds To Go To The United Nations To Combat Global Poverty!

Make no mistake, the headline above is a lot closer to fact than you may think! So if you're wondering what an Obama presidency would be like, look no further than the above headline!

What the media is NOT telling you is that Barack Hussein Obama does, in fact, have a legislative record in the Senate and one of his proudest accomplishments is The Global Poverty Act (S. 2433).

But wait just a minute! Isn't combating poverty around the world a noble goal?

Well... the devil, as they say, is in the details!

Some conservative leaders are already sounding the alarm and telling us that, if passed, Barack Hussein Obama's Global Poverty Act will commit us to a stealth United Nations-inspired global tax of $845 Billion dollars... that comes to approximately an $8500.00 tax burden for every household in the United States!

Cliff Kincaid of Accuracy in Media wrote: "The legislation, if approved, dedicates 0.7 percent of the U.S. gross national product to foreign aid, which... would amount to $845 billion 'over and above what the U.S. already spends.'"

"The plan passed the House in 2007 'because most members didn't realize what was in it.' Congressional sponsors have been careful not to calculate the amount of foreign aid spending that it would require."

Remember the Food for Oil Scandal? Let's face it; the United Nation's actual record on ending pain and suffering around the world is pathetic and dismal.

The questions to ask are, first, how much of our money that goes to the United Nations right now actually winds up lining the pockets of third-world dictators and despots? And, second, if Obama's plan succeeds, how much of his new $845 billion giveaway will end up in those same pockets?

Barack Hussein Obama's Global Poverty Act MUST be STOPPED! Time is of the essence! Obama's Global Poverty Act actually has the support of some prominent RINOs such as Senator Richard Lugar and Senate Foreign Relations Committee Chairman Joseph Biden, who just pushed Obama's world welfare bill out of committee. It could be up for a vote in the Senate AT ANY TIME!

Barack Hussein Obama MUST be stopped. But more importantly, his so-called Global Poverty Act -- which has already passed in the House (because most Members simply didn't know what was in it) and is presently being pushed through the Senate -- MUST be stopped.

This $845 Billion is not included in the $874 Billion on the Barack Spend-O-Meter! This new debt would break the Trillion Dollar mark!

Comment: This is a weird article. It starts out interesting enough with insight into his family history and time as a POW< but then kind of meanders into Washington gossip with no sources willing to be named.

Teddy Roosevelt was known to be a hothead. And if I ever met Donald Rumsfield, I'd yell at him too.

  • Posted By: Nins @ 06/22/2008 2:35:59 AM

Comment: WillNotVote, I just love it when you set yourself up to be schooled. You give a web address for the Obama's page on the Senate.gov website. Each Senator sets up their own pages there. You have directed the reader to Obama's page where he prints, for the world to see, his voting record on every bill that comes before the Senate. Here is that address:

    http://obama.senate.gov/votes/index.cfm?start=1

You sent the reader to this page because it shows that Obama did not vote on many of the recent bills, and you want to make it look like Obama is asleep on the job. It must be mentioned, however, that Clinton, McCain and Obama have all missed many votes during the campaign season. However, if the reader will take the trouble to page through Obama's voting record, they will see that Obama has been present for all of the important votes. Obama has been present and voted on 62 of the 154 bills before Congress in the current session beginning January 2008. Clinton has voted on 56 of these 154 bills. And McCain, who had already won the primary and didn't have to start campaigning against Obama until three weeks ago, McCain voted on only 33 of 154 bills.

As I have exposed in one of my earlier blogs, McCain missed more than half of his votes, even before he started running for President. In the First Session of the 110th Congress (2007), McCain missed a whopping 56% of his votes. McCain doesn't want you to know this, so when you go to his Senate web page, there is no tab to click to see his voting record (http://mccain.senate.gov). An American who wants to know how McCain votes has to look it up on the Library of Congress website (not user friendly) or go to the Washington Post website:

    http://projects.washingtonpost.com/congress/members/m000303/votes/

While you are there, pay special attention to McCain's votes on March 13 and 14, 2008. On those days we know he was present, because he voted on 22 bills. But he refused to vote on 22 other bills. He failed to vote on bills concerning border security, alien removal and English in the workplace, even though he has set himself up as the candidate who wants immigration reform favorable to Hispanics. He also failed to vote on the bills regarding efficient energy production, even though he claims to be in favor of this. He must not be very much in favor of efficient energy and immigration reform since her refused to vote even though he was present. As for Obama and Clinton, they were both present those days, and they both voted on all 44 bills.

McCain knows that public perception is all that matters, so he gives a news conference and says he supports certain issues, even though he refuses to vote in favor of them. He knows that most Americans never take the time to look up his voting record, and he makes sure that his Senate web page doesn't include this information.

I find it ironic that your blogger name is "WillNotVote." Did you get that name from John McCain?

Comment: I will NEVER denigrate John McCain's service to his country in the war.

I will NEVER STOP denigrating his useless (57% of votes missed) misguided (95% of votes according to BUSH & CO. policy), and flip-floppy ( I was against the tax cuts for the rich until I needed their money to run for president) service to this country in the senate.

Being a war hero may make you tough..but it DOES NOT MAKE YOU SMART.

And now we have to finish what we started. McCain is the only candidate qualified to handle the situation.

Comment: The neocon controlled Bush Administration staged the 9/11 attacks in order to justify the imperial conquest of American military power into the oil soaked Middle East.

Only the oil remains. No weapons of mass destruction were found in Iraq. No mobile biological weapons labs were found in Iraq. Iraq did not seek to acquire yellowcake uranium. The aluminum tubes were not suitable for nuclear use. The lead hijacker in the events of 9/11 did not meet with Iraqi intelligence. Iraq did not provide chemical weapons training to Al-Qaeda. There was no relationship between Iraq and Al-Qaeda. Hussein nor Iraq was involved in the events of September 11, 2001. Only the oil remains. The anti-trust violations of this State Department and Executive Branch are massive.

This war on terror has nothing to do with Al-Qaeda. Al-Qaeda was created and sponsored by the CIA during the 1970's Afghanistan war all the way up to the 1990 and the begining of the first Gulf War. Al-Qaeda involvement in the events of 9/11 has a sponsor.

Dick Cheney's private and secretly held meetings described as his ENERGY TASK FORCE are swimming in anti-trust violations regarding the soaring price of oil which is not related to market conditions,,,, rather...related to the mechanisms of the US STATE DEPARTMENT AND THIS EXECUTIVE BRANCH waging illegal international aggression for the confiscation and hostile takeover of IRAQI NATURAL RESOURCES.

But if the American electorate really was watching during the January run up to Feb 5th they would have seen both the Dems and the Repugs as the insurgents they are while they have waged economic war on the American electorate for 30 years and longer. The two parties have held the American electorate hostage for too long.

Corporate buyouts and corporate crime have used the United States Congress as its clearinghouse for corruption for too long. When GWB ran for office in 2000 everyone knew he was a loser and still the Democrats lost to him. Twice. Yes, the American electorate has its head up its ass. Vote Ron Paul. Comment: Newsweek's cover story, "Becoming John Mc Cain" should have been titled, "Creating John Mc Cain."
From the very first paragraph, Evan Thomas' article is filled with misinformation and deception, intended to glorify the Senator's unearned reputation. At the same time, Thomas completely ignores the wealth of government documents and historical news articles that show Mc Cain in a very different light.
Many Vietnam veterans, myself included, hate Mc Cain and see him for the astoundingly arrogant, self-serving jerk he really is. Mc Cain's despicable performance while serving on the Senate Committee for POW/MIA's, is a graphic demonstration of the man's unbelievable dishonesty.
John Mc Cain is a creation of the media. Had his father and grandfather NOT been naval admirals, there NEVER would have been a Mc Cain "war hero."
I put Mc Cain in the same category as his buddy, John Kerry, another media "hero."

Comment: If you are one of those True Conservatives who can honestly claim that you opposed the war in Iraq from the beginning, ignore this. If you are one of the majority of True Conservatives who supported Bush and the war from the beginning, this message is for you.

The upcoming election will be a referendum on many issues ranging from those which neither side will ever be able to effectively resolve to those which will be decisively resolved as soon as the votes are tallied. Of all the issues which may be decided at that time, none will be decided with more finality and immediacy than the war in Iraq. Have no doubt that a Democrat victory will result in our surrender in this conflict. This is what many in our country want. This is not what most True Conservatives have said that they want. They have articulated in every possible way their desire for a victory which will inure to the honor of the brave men and women who have sacrificed so much in that conflict.

Yet now many True Conservatives are saying that they will not support the likely Republican nominee because of his disloyalty to them. This is a reasonable position for every issue except one: the loyalty that True Conservatives owe to the brave men and women they summoned to duty in Iraq. There is no equivalence between what True Conservatives want with regard toward immigration, sex and gender issues, life issues and the rest of the agenda and what they committed the country to when they declared war in Iraq. Most of the True Conservative issues are just that, issues. Things to be discussed, debated and perhaps legislated. Iraq was once simply an issue. It was discussed and debated. Largely at the behest of many of the True Conservatives who are now preparing to abandon it, it was transformed from an issue into an action, a war. We asked our young men and women to pledge everything, everything to the cause.

True Conservatives should be perfectly clear on one thing. They are taking the position that their decision to not support the apparent nominee is a principled one, intended to allow them to go forward in the future and reform the country in their own image. Sometime in the future they hope to be able to say that they made this country a better place. But if they account for the margin of loss for the Republican nominee this fall they will also be immediately responsible for casting our entire military effort in Iraq into the trash heap of history. The horrible price we have paid to date in lives and dollars will be for naught. It is likely that our nation???s military might will never again be considered by those who would harm us to be a credible deterrent to their bad actions. We will become the new France.

The legacy of True Conservative???s failure to support the Republican nominee will become their willingness to place their partisan concerns above the lives and honor of our soldiers in time of war. Disgraceful.

Comment: You want arrogance? With McCain you can get it. Your February 11 story shows it.. There is a place for individual arrogance and McCain displayed it in his captive survival mode and his "maverick
" performances in the Senate. But individual arrogance - as displayed by the current occupant of the presidency - is not what we need to lead our country. Thoughtful, itelligent and of course ultimate decisive action is what this country longs for.

Comment: It seems vox whatever is a prime example of one who misses the forrest because of all the trees. Where nationalizing corperations is ever referred to i'm not sure but asking them to actually have a social morality besides the bottom line does not seem like too much. Perhaps we should just become a facsist country where corperations and government control everything , giving only the allusion of democracy . That is where neo-cons asoire us to be. They despise workers rights and unions. They despise de-regulation of any kind, having us believe that while people lie and steal for a 100 dollars they would never for 100 million dollars, and they forever desire unlimited fairytale growth without acknowledging that the Earth is a finite place and resource. People of this ilk are dreamers of the worst kind. Their dreams have no upside, at least not for roughly 70% of the population. How can someone complain of unionbusting as if the devil yet disparage socialism which is the extreme of extreme of union orginization ideaology. It makes no sense unions are great socialism not so great cooperations can be great but most in a completely free market society will not be great. Why' because people will lie cheat and steal for 100's of millions of dollars who wouldn't, Ghandi Jesus. So neither is perfect but somewhere in the middle might be. Beware absolutists and those who add 2+2 and get 5 like voxwhatever.

Comment: One month into the Presidential election year, leading candidates have yet to address issues of urgent importance for the every day lives of Americans.

Health insurance industry, agribusiness giants, corporate criminals, nuclear power, energy providers pollution controls, big oil, big banks, drug companies, union busters, war profiteers, credit card companies, corporate Democrats in Congress and Corporate Republicans in Congress.

This list of issues has been ignored by the so called leading candidates for President of the United States. The private cable networks, who now sponsor Presidential debates, have worked overtime to exclude questions on these issues, not to mention the candidates and the civic groups supporting these issues.

What issues are the leading candidates now supposed to speak on while they wait out the American electorate until the Democrat???s and Republican Party???s convention?
The message is that the natives are restless. The leading candidates do not represent whom they claim to represent.

Comment: hmmm "Health insurance industry, agribusiness giants, corporate criminals, nuclear power, energy providers pollution controls, big oil, big banks, drug companies, union busters, war profiteers, credit card companies,.." Yeah, I'm sure all of those things could be solved by nationalizing the corporations, killing off some businesses entirely, and confiscating all of our incomes, as union members, to create a socialist society. What a proud day that would be, eh? There's nothing quite like grabbing ones ankles and letting the government handle everything.

      • Posted By: tc125231 @ 02/09/2008 16:09:48

If so, you are probably quite happy with the current crowd? Do you cheer when you see Cheney talking to CPAC about torture?

        • Posted By: voxdulcis @ 02/09/2008 23:01:59

Comment: I was taking the shortcut, as liberals and socialists do, to a quick solution. The real solution is to let the free market do its thing. But let's take a closer look: Unions represented 2/3 of our workers at the end of WWII. Today the total is 7%. Guess which way the wind is blowing? Now, the liberal/socialist way to handle that is to unionize all the workers, whether they like it or not. The result would be many business closures. Others businesses would have to be nationalized to save them, at all. Now, because I think our free market system is superior in every way to socialism, I think that plan would be a pretty evil thing. As for torture, and I assume that you mean waterboarding, because you seem to be the delicate type: I have a suspicion that after capturing one of our military people, the al qaeda doesn't sit around and chit chat about whether or not the US tortures its POWs. In fact I do not think it matters to them at all. Waterboarding has been used on only 2 high ranking al qaeda leaders. And after 40 seconds of an intense reality check, they decided to share info that saved lives. There were no broken bones, electric shock, burns, or other painful damage. And some of our military people were saved. Looks like a win-win to me. TC, you need to make up your mind--which side do you want to be on? Ours or theirs? Since, to the al qaeda, there is no gray area in between, I do not think we can afford to be wishy washy either. And our military comes first.

Also, do you think the billions we're spending every month in Iraq could be causing some of the problems? McCain wants to stay in Iraq for 100 years. Do the math. Comment: I think this article is criminal, and typical of reportorial fawning over McCain. The fact is that he has reversed his positions right and left lately, and told some fibs in the bargain. He may bristle at the suggestion he has not behaved honorably in recent times.

That is too bad. If the shoe fits, you're stuck wearing it.

This article makes no attempt to dwal with his many reversals of position, and fibs about why, or about his former position. He SOOO worried about vets, but has introduced not one piece of legislation to make his pal W. standup and see that they get proper medical care after they are injured. Now tax cuts increase federal revenues (a position not even the Cato Institute supports.)
McCain "believes" it though, because it allows him to support war without end while supporting irresponsibible tax cuts.

Might convenient. What message does it send our children when the man our press has annointed as our most "honorable" leader says there really is a free lunch.

--Nobody has been more critical of the prosecution of the war than he was, he says. Yeah --where were the bills in 2003 and 2004 to get more boots on the ground. There sure weren't any coming from McCain.

The fact that our press has anointed such a man as "Mr Straight Talk" merely demonstrates that they have no grasp of the nature of integrity. Lying when the truth is inconvenient is STILL lying.

We all love Spielberg; but did you know that he walked onto Universal's campus back in the day, set up shop in an empty office that wasn't his, and began to do his work. That's brazen and bold and considered a beautiful feat of the dedicated human drive to pursue our passions and dreams despits systems that make it difficult. Now look at Spielberg and his outrageous following; but what he did was cheat and deceptive to get where he wanted. I don't rattle those old bones in my mind when I evaluate his work, and I don't skake McCain's either when I look at his possibilty post as president.

What about Bill Clinton? I think that's recent enough say I don't need to say more.

Nevertheless, this is opinion and means nothing.

I will say, since it is opinion. My first vote is not McCain; but I appreciate what's he's endured in life. I can't say (can you) that I've lived through some of the things he has and has come out more-than-fairly intact, if not quite insightful. At the very least, McCain is a useful candidate; and useful, though subtly pragmatic, is powerful if in the right place. The opposite is useless, and many are quite useless and in the wrong places.

FYI: For someone to be able to evaluate his own experiences and be so self-ware as McCain, that indeed is the alternative to "not being all there (or 'their" as one wrote here)."

He cravenly caved to the Adminitsration on torture and other issues. His past has plenty of skeletons: Keating Five, leaving wife #1 when she was disabled (shades of Gingrich), etc.

Thomas admits that he likes McCain and tacitly endoreses the "straight talk" nonsense. It reminds me of all the reporters who talked about Bush as a "regular" guy and Gore as a "phony" or "liar". Obviously, their powers of observation were lacking and I suspect that is true of Thomas, whom I once thought could see beyond the fog of "image" and spin.

Comment: McCain lives in the past. According to McCain, we could have won Vietnam, but were stabbed in the back by assorted liberals and peaceniks. In order to regain our honor, we must win Iraq - even if it takes 100 years. We also must bomb Iran, since they are responsible for all the terror in Iraq. This reasoning reminds me of Leonid Brezhnev of the late great USSR. He was also fighting a pst war - The Great Patriotic War (AKA World War II). He also believed in "staying the course" and winning Afghanistan - which needed to be rescued by the Soviets, just as Iraq needed to be "rescued" by the United States. Of course the weaponry that made such a great impression in May Day Parades did not work in the real world of Afghanistan. Worse, Brezhnev lived in a world of delusions and lies - perpetrated by spying, secrecy and the persecution of all truth-tellers whistle-blowers. This network of error ultimately destroyed the USSR, not Ronald Reagan's famous "tear down the wall" speech. (By 1986 the USSR was on life-support any way - Gobrachev long recognized it.) McCain, like his predecessors both Brezhnev and Bush, cannot understand that the world has changed. He cannot understand that we cannot win the war on terrorism with bombs. He cannot understand that a world where 3 billion people subsist in less than 2 dollars a day will forever be a breeding ground for more terrorists. Obama framed the campaign when he said this is a campaign of the past vs. the future. McCain is too wrapped up in the past to lead this country.

Funny, I've been a mormon all my life and I don't know where this person gets their info. from, but it's not the mormon church, that's for sure. It's stunning everytime I read such bologna. There's so much typical internet trash mixed in there, it's hard to dicipher mormon doctrine in there at all. Don't believe what that post says, it's hillarious. Mitt Romney has had to battle this silliness everyday, poor guy. I'll just say what Mitt said, all you ever need to know about any religion is the example set by the person who lives that religion. If they are a good person, live an honest life, give service to their fellow man, what else matters? That's what's at the heart of every religion. You would be hard pressed to find anyone who lives a more Christ like life than a mormon. Self disciplined, honest, healthy, intelligent, principled, morals and values. They definitely believe in the virtues of life. If you're in trouble, you want a mormon around. If there is a disaster, you want a mormon around. Comment: Mormon doctrine that sounds Biblical

Mormons say they believe in Jesus but the Jesus they serve is not the Biblical Jesus. The Jesus of the Mormon Church is the brother of Lucifer. Jesus is a spirit child of God the Father and a heavenly mother by physical union. (sex) Jesus was born a child and through obedience to the Laws became a God, therefore Jesus has not always been God. Jesus' shed blood on the cross does not atone for all sins, but there are certain sins that the blood of Jesus does not atone for. Jesus after He was crucified and raised to life married three women and had offspring.

Mormons say they believe in God the Father but He is not the same One from the Bible. Mormons believe that God the Father was once a man who became a God. Mormons believe that God the Father had a father, and his father had a father, an endless progression of Gods. That means God has not always been God, but the Father was at one time not God by nature.

Mormons say they believe in the Trinity but their definition is different. The Mormon Church teaches that the Father, Jesus, and the Holy Spirit (Trinity) are three different Gods. Mormons believe the Trinity is one in purpose not in nature.

Mormons say they are the only true Church. The Mormon Church teaches that they are the only true Church and that all others are the Church of the devil. They may not say this to you but they do teach this.

Mormons say they believe in the Bible. The Mormon Church teaches that there are 4 holy books. These books are: the Book of Mormon, the Pearl of Great Price, Doctrines and Covenants, and the Bible. The Bible in the Mormon Church is least looked upon for doctrine and theology. Mormons are taught that the Bible is correct as long as it goes with their theology. If the Bible contradicts what the other 3 books say or their theology, than the Bible is wrong according to the Mormon Church.

Comment: I love this line: "McCain will trim his sails politically when necessary, but he is obviously dispirited by anything that smacks of pandering."

McCain's lip prints on Jerry Falwell's backside beg to differ.

Comment: Whats wrong with Jerry Falwell? He built a college just like Brigham Young did. OH YEAH!! Falwell didn't have 57 WIVES.

Comment: How do you refuse to be relwased from prison?

Comment: wendy c: Actually, according to the POW books I've read, the North Vietnamese offered to send McCain home if he would do certain things to disgrace the U.S. Things like signing documents admitting he had commited "war crimes" against the North Vietnamese people, etc. He stuck to his guns and chose to stay a prisoner instead of going home early. It didn't happen much (guys choosing to go home) but it did happen occasionally. I admire McCain for that but since his return home I believe he's slowly let his integrity erode. Please see my post below on that.
