I'm just laughing! Oh my goodness, someone thinks they're a genius on mormon theology. Funny, I've been a mormon all my life and I don't know where this person gets their info. from, but it's not the mormon church, that's for sure. It's stunning everytime I read such bologna. There's so much typical internet trash mixed in there, it's hard to dicipher mormon doctrine in there at all. Don't believe what that post says, it's hillarious. Mitt Romney has had to battle this silliness everyday, poor guy. I'll just say what Mitt said, all you ever need to know about any religion is the example set by the person who lives that religion. If they are a good person, live an honest life, give service to their fellow man, what else matters? That's what's at the heart of every religion. You would be hard pressed to find anyone who lives a more Christ like life than a mormon. Self disciplined, honest, healthy, intelligent, principled, morals and values. They definitely believe in the virtues of life. If you're in trouble, you want a mormon around. If there is a disaster, you want a mormon around. They are the most organized and prepared people around. I can't imagine what's wrong with that.

Please enlighten us as to which parts of the posted mormon theology is bologna. I'll be more than happy to post direct quotes from your profits as to where I got the comments from.

McCain lives in the past. According to McCain, we could have won Vietnam, but were stabbed in the back by assorted liberals and peaceniks. In order to regain our honor, we must win Iraq - even if it takes 100 years. We also must bomb Iran, since they are responsible for all the terror in Iraq. This reasoning reminds me of Leonid Brezhnev of the late great USSR. He was also fighting a pst war - The Great Patriotic War (AKA World War II). He also believed in "staying the course" and winning Afghanistan - which needed to be rescued by the Soviets, just as Iraq needed to be "rescued" by the United States. Of course the weaponry that made such a great impression in May Day Parades did not work in the real world of Afghanistan. Worse, Brezhnev lived in a world of delusions and lies - perpetrated by spying, secrecy and the persecution of all truth-tellers whistle-blowers. This network of error ultimately destroyed the USSR, not Ronald Reagan's famous "tear down the wall" speech. (By 1986 the USSR was on life-support any way - Gobrachev long recognized it.) McCain, like his predecessors both Brezhnev and Bush, cannot understand that the world has changed. He cannot understand that we cannot win the war on terrorism with bombs. He cannot understand that a world where 3 billion people subsist in less than 2 dollars a day will forever be a breeding ground for more terrorists. Obama framed the campaign when he said this is a campaign of the past vs. the future. McCain is too wrapped up in the past to lead this country.

    All -

If you want to learn what Mitt's church, The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, believes in and why, please go to lds.org or mormon.org because you sure won't learn it from "HolyRoller".

Mitt has nothing to hide about his religion but personally I hope that America will look at Romney for his character, his abilities and his record of success in both his personal and professional life instead of just saying "oh, he belongs to the LDS church".

Good luck on deciding who to vote for.

I love this line: "McCain will trim his sails politically when necessary, but he is obviously dispirited by anything that smacks of pandering."

McCain's lip prints on Jerry Falwell's backside beg to differ.

Whats wrong with Jerry Falwell? He built a college just like Brigham Young did. OH YEAH!! Falwell didn't have 57 WIVES.

    Mormon doctrine that sounds Biblical

Mormons say they believe in Jesus but the Jesus they serve is not the Biblical Jesus. The Jesus of the Mormon Church is the brother of Lucifer. Jesus is a spirit child of God the Father and a heavenly mother by physical union. (sex) Jesus was born a child and through obedience to the Laws became a God, therefore Jesus has not always been God. Jesus' shed blood on the cross does not atone for all sins, but there are certain sins that the blood of Jesus does not atone for. Jesus after He was crucified and raised to life married three women and had offspring.

Mormons say they believe in God the Father but He is not the same One from the Bible. Mormons believe that God the Father was once a man who became a God. Mormons believe that God the Father had a father, and his father had a father, an endless progression of Gods. That means God has not always been God, but the Father was at one time not God by nature.

Mormons say they believe in the Trinity but their definition is different. The Mormon Church teaches that the Father, Jesus, and the Holy Spirit (Trinity) are three different Gods. Mormons believe the Trinity is one in purpose not in nature.

Mormons say they are the only true Church. The Mormon Church teaches that they are the only true Church and that all others are the Church of the devil. They may not say this to you but they do teach this.

Mormons say they believe in the Bible. The Mormon Church teaches that there are 4 holy books. These books are: the Book of Mormon, the Pearl of Great Price, Doctrines and Covenants, and the Bible. The Bible in the Mormon Church is least looked upon for doctrine and theology. Mormons are taught that the Bible is correct as long as it goes with their theology. If the Bible contradicts what the other 3 books say or their theology, than the Bible is wrong according to the Mormon Church.

A VOTE FOR ROMNEY MEANS THIS BLASPHEMEY IS ACCEPTABLE TO YOU>

WHERE WAS MCCAIN DURING THIS OPERATION HE STILL DISAVOWS EVER HAPPENED-SO MUCH FOR MILITARY BENIFITS- ON THE RIGHT HAND OF GOD,MM I MEAN BUSH SR.
Operation Cyclone was the code name for the United States Central Intelligence Agency program to arm the Afghan mujahideen during the Soviet war in Afghanistan, 1979 to 1989. The Program relied heavily on using the Pakistani Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) as an intermediary for funds distribution. Along with funding from similar programs from Britain's MI6 and SAS, Saudi Arabia and the People's Republic of China, the ISI armed and trained over 100,000 insurgents between 1978 and 1992. Somewhere between $3???$20 billion in US funds were funneled into the country to train and equip troops with weapons, including Stinger man-portable air-defense systems.

26 Aug 1988 SA-7On July 3, 1979, U.S. President Carter signed a presidential finding authorizing funding for anticommunist guerrillas in Afghanistan.[1] Following the Soviet invasion of Afghanistan and installation of a more pro-Soviet president, Babrak Karmal, Carter announced "The Soviet invasion of Afghanistan is the greatest threat to peace since the Second World War".[2] American funding started with 20-30 million dollars per year in 1980 and rose to $630 million a year in 1987.[3]

The US government has been criticized for allowing Pakistan to channel a disproportionate amount of its funding to controversial Afghan resistance leader Gulbuddin Hekmatyar,[4] who Pakistani officials believed was "their man".[5] Hekmatyar has been criticized for killing other mujahideen and attacking civilian populations, including shelling Kabul with American-supplied weapons, causing 2,000 casualties. Hekmatyar was said to be friendly with Osama bin Laden, founder of al-Qaeda, who was running an operation for assisting "Afghan Arab" volunteers fighting in Afghanistan, called Maktab al-Khadamat (MAK). Alarmed by his behavior Pakistan leader General Zia warned Hekmatyar that "It was Pakistan that made him an Afghan leader and it is Pakistan who can equally destroy him if he continues to misbehave".[6] According to a Newsweek article, in the late 1980s, Pakistani Prime Minister Benazir Bhutto, concerned of the growing strength of the Islamist movement, told President George H. W. Bush, "You are creating a Frankenstein". Author Gilles Kepel reports that American funding of Hekmatyar and his Hezbi Islami party was cut off immediately following the withdrawal of the Soviets.[7]

The U.S. says all of its funds went to native Afghan rebels and denies that any of its funds were used to supply Osama bin Laden or foreign Arab mujahideen. It is estimated that 35,000 foreign Muslims from 43 Islamic countries participated in the war.[8][9][10][11]

You know what, if you're voting on the Republican primary, you really gotta vote for Romney. And don't waste stuff on Huckleberry or Ron Paul, OK? Because you don't want to see a McCain, Hillary or McCain, Obama race, OK? Because that's going to be a race to give out the most goody-goodies to the illegal aliens. You vote for Obama and you're gonna get Elliot Spitzer's policy of giving driver's licenses to the illegal aliens. You vote for McCain or Hillary and you're gonna get Bush's policy of giving amnesty to the illegal aliens. Either way is very bad for our country and for our economy. If you want to turn our GOD-BLESSED U.S.A. into a third-world cesspool like Mexico, then go vote for either of them. But if you want real change that's good for our country, then you gotta have to vote for Romney.

First of all, don't be sucked in by that "smile and be nice" routine. It doesn't matter what Romney says. He's not believable.

Secondly, Romney is not electable in November. Obama or Clinton, either one, would beat him. And if he can't be elected, why waste your vote on him?

Man no wounder Bush is bad, you guys sound worst than the Dems do!! bla bla this bla bla that. All words no action, even McCain, who is older than any given scandal or was part of it! I have come to so despise Bush and what he has done to this country. I voted for him so I feel so betrayed what he has done with all this spending and so mortgaging the future of the United States. He has racked up more sending that any President since Roosevelt. He has done so much damage to the Republican Party that there will be a McCain Mutiny. I don't like his immigration policy nor his Second Amendment record.. I am so disgusted with both the Republican Party and the Democratic Party. Again I am forced to vote for the lesser of two evils so most likely I will have to vote for McCain. Remember I coined the term the
McCain Mutiny..To impugn McCain's honor and integrity, well you Liberal bastards are Anti-American and suffering from mental illness.

McCain, sadly, has no more honor. He uses the honor of his past to hide behind while he changes positions to suit his own political needs rather than the constituents of AZ or the Nation as a whole. Great men aren't always great, and he lost his a long time ago even though the media is still fooled.

Actually the Churhc of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints (LDS) members are some of the most well educated people in the world (It's a fact look it up). And although they probably appreicate Rush Limbaugh's support of Romney, they make up their own mind.
The LDS members don't let their religous leaders influence their vote either. In fact all LDS church leaders are EXPLICITLY told not to endorse or even seem to be supporting any candidates.

I am so glad you agree that LDS members make up their own minds. The agency of man is a fundamental belief in the LDS church, and all members are allowed to make up their own minds in what they do or do not believe in. I hope your religion is open enough to accept such an important issue.

How can anyone read this article and feel good about John McCain as president? He doesn't like CRITICISM? What the HECK is he running for president for? There's probably NO ONE in the world who attracts more criticism than the President of the US.

Do we want a president who's going to look for revenge against every person, in and outside the US, who offends his "honor"? That's FRIGHTENING!!

"...a number of senators and former lawmakers are still licking their wounds from run-ins with McCain."

""It's sad, really," says former senator Bob Smith of New Hampshire. "John McCain can tell a good joke and we can laugh, and I've had my share of good times with him." That is the side of McCain, says Smith, that the press sees. But behind the scenes lurks a less amiable McCain. "You can disagree without being disagreeable," says Smith. "And I don't think John is able to do that. If he disagrees with you, he does it in a way that is disagreeable.""

"The lore of "Senator Hothead," as McCain has been dubbed over the years, is considerable. McCain is widely reported to have yelled profanities at senators and even shoved one or two (including the late Strom Thurmond, a feisty nonagenarian at the time of the alleged incident). After McCain used an obscenity to describe Republican Sen. Chuck Grassley of Iowa to his face in 1992, Grassley did not speak to McCain for more than a year."

"McCain snapped, "This is chickens?????????." Cornyn shot back that McCain shouldn't come parachuting in off the presidential-campaign trail at the last minute and start making demands. "F????????? you," said McCain, in front of about 30 witnesses."

Let me just grab a few quotes from this article and you tell me if this is a man you really want running our country...

"...he can seem prickly, impetuous, vindictive???the sort of military martinet whose finger is supposed to be kept far from the button."

"There are a number of U.S. senators who can attest to McCain's repentance with handwritten apologies for his intemperance."

NOTE: I'm sure a handwritten note of apology after a yelling, profanity-filled rant, to Putin or Almadinejad or al-Maliki will do wonders for US relations.

"As an angry toddler, he would hold his breath until he passed out (his parents' cure was to drop him fully clothed into a bathtub of icy water)."

NOTE: So, this behavior is ingrained from birth.

"At Annapolis, he was, he writes, "a slob." He looked for authorities to subvert, settling on a bullying, second-year midshipman he and his friends dubbed "Sh?????????y Witty the Middy," and making life miserable for a by-the-book captain who was supposed to discipline him."

"...he was at best an average pilot, a daredevil, "kick-the-tires and light-the-fire" type who sacrificed careful preparation for more time at the O Club bar."

"He writes that he should have jinked to evade the missile, but out of stubbornness, or a mad kind of bravery, he flew straight on and toggled the bomb switch???just as the missile blew off the right wing of his plane."

NOTE: Think of the power the President holds. Do we want this kind of "stubborness"?

"It may be that Mitt Romney doesn't take Mormon theology at face value. His flip-flopping on gay rights and abortion to suit the alternative demands of a Massachusetts gubernatorial election and a Republican presidential primary suggests that he's a man of flexible principles???which in this context might be regarded as encouraging. But Romney has never publicly indicated any distance from church doctrine. He is an "elder" who performed missionary service in France as a young man and did not protest the church's overt racism and priestly discrimination before it was abolished in 1978. He usually tries to defuse the issue with the tired jokes about polygamy, or cries foul and insists that his religious views are "private." That they may be, but if he's running for president, they concern the rest of us, as well."

    • Posted By: urcoolnot @ 02/04/2008 12:20:37 AM

Wow Romney is an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. That's great. He was called as an Elder, a missionary, a Bishop, and a Stake President. He was NEVER paid a penny for his services. Actually he paid for his own mission and continues to give more then 10% of his personal income to the church to which he believes in. If I didn't know any better, this would make him MORE qualified on the religously then say Mike Huckabee, who is PAID to be a minister and preaches for PROFIT! As for polygamy, only John McCain apparently still believes in that practice, at least from the stand point of having more then wife and/or mistress.

There is no such thing as a perfect candidate. At least not this year. Here are our choices: we can elect Obama or Hillary and resign ourselves to a socialist future paid for by high taxes and our nation's security in the hands of one of those supremely unqualified candidates, or we can seek a path of military strength, fiscal conservatism, and keep the pressure on the feds to make the borders tight and shut down the sources of income for illegal aliens by electing a Republican. As for Romney: We have enough mormons in the FBI and CIA. We certainly don't need one in the presidency, even IF he is telling the truth about his stand on every issue, which he isn't. I would no more vote for Romney than Tom Cruise. McCain has much to recommend him: courage, intelligence and a strong history of supporting conservative causes, with the ability to compromise when necessary, since conservatives are not the only ones living in the US. I don't mind a bad temper when it's aimed at a fool or foolish idea. But, the best thing about McCain: he can save us, our children and our grandchildren from the disastrous effects of four years with Hillary or Obama.

  • Posted By: ProudOfMcCain @ 02/03/2008 10:20:54 PM

    Romney is NOT conservative.
    He MANDATED healthcare in Massachusetts.
He is pro-abortion. He just changed his mind before he ran for President.
He raised millions in taxes. Oh I mean fees. How Clintonesque.
He is pro gay marriage. Romney did nothing to stop it in Massachusetts.
He did say he was for Private TIMETABLES.
Romney has flipped on every issue there is in this race
How can you call him conservative when he changed his mind on everything?

You know what? I am sick of these Conservative REPUBLICANS (Republican being the operative word here) who are saying they will vote for a Democrat or not vote at all rather than for McCain.

Talk about putting yourself above your party. Who do you think you are? I am a Republican saying this. If you do this, that is more of a liberal act than anything you've ever blamed McCain for. Hold your nose, grit your teeth or whatever you need to do but be there for the party you tell others you love.

At least McCain is willing to put himself out there to fight for the thing he feels is the most important thing we should all be going for: America, his country.

    • Posted By: urcoolnot @ 02/04/2008 12:07:19 AM

Wow, everyone in Massachuset's now has healthcare. Isn't that GREAT!
Romney realized the pro-choice movement was wrong prior to the campaign. Awesome.
Romney closed loop holes and made stopped subsidizing government services. Cool.
Unfortunately, Romney couldn't change the Massachuset's constitution on gay mariage. He was only governer not the entire legislature.
Romney believes that good leaders have "private" timetables and measurements for success. Excellent.
Romney changed his positions prior to running for president and has the record to prove it. Great!

McCain flip-flopped on the campaign trail and has no record that he will do what he says. He lies even when confronted with the truth. No wonder he barely won states with a 1/3rd of the Republican votes. Romney has one serval states with over half (Maine, Neveda, Wyoming).

Hold your own nose and stay home election night. I'm voting for Romney.

Dang! Cut off again. Well, in case you're wondering, you can write up to 5,000 characters on these posts.

Here's the last sentence I was trying to say in the 2 posts immediately below:

"Romney has integrity and a graciousness / public "smoothness" that America desperately needs in our next President because as our leader he will undoubtedly have to work with other countries to restore America's positive reputation."

    Thank you.

  • Posted By: Twister52 @ 02/03/2008 11:55:17 PM

To those who support McCain, I ask you to please examine the integrity of McCain today. I say "today" because there's no question that your candidate had tremendous integrity when confined as a P.O.W. I salute him for that. However, since he came home in the early 70's I think he has gradually allowed himself to be seduced by continual compromises in which he slowly abandoned his integrity in the name of political progress or trying to "get things done".
A recent example of this is last week's GOP debate. He claimed that Mitt is a "flip-flopper" because he raised (essentially) "taxes" in the form of "fees" though Romney pledged to not raise taxes. Did Romney raise millions for Massachusetts in the form of fees? Absolutely. Romney's answer? The "fees" in question had not been increased for many years, some of them for decades, and the fees were things that did not affect everyone. In other words, all MA citizens did NOT have to pay these fees. He gave an example of a fee for the state installing a McDonald's sign on the side of an interstate.
McCain gave numbers about the cost of Massachusetts' state-mandated health care program. Romney's answer? McCain's number was incorrect (it was too high) AND McCain was also using numbers of the CURRENT cost of the program AFTER Romney left the office of governor. Romney clearly said that his successor (a Democrat governor) had added expensive options / "bells and whistles" to the health care program that Romney would not have added were he still governor.
McCain used multiple statistics attacking Romney on the status of Massachusetts' economy. Romney's answer? McCain was using numbers that INCLUDED a period of time BEFORE Romney took office. When Romney gave McCain the statistics from his time in office, (surprise) McCain's iron-clad "facts" were nowhere near as bad as McCain claimed.
The incidents above occurred within the first 30 minutes or so of the debate. Go search on the internet and watch the debate yourself.
So McCain is either: A) very uninformed and altogether ignorant of the facts needed to effectively debate Romney or B) he knows the facts which Romney easily refuted (BTW, no one in the press has been refuting Romney's facts) but he purposely tried to misrepresent Romney's leadership.
This means McCain is either unintelligent (doubtful) or he lacks the integrity to portray his opponent as he really is. You be the judge.
Please, please look at the man you are supporting. Would McCain protect America from terrorists? Yes, I believe he would. However, Romney can do that too (you don't have to be a mechanic to know how to drive a car....yes, that's an over-simplified example but you get my drift) and MORE. Romney has integrity and a graciousness / public "smoothness" that America desperately needs in our next President because as our leader he will undoubtedly have to work with other c
