For you believers in the 'liberal media:' where were they when when we invaded Iraq? They were fawning over Bush and trumpeting how great the US is, that's where. The reality is that tv media is sensational, not liberal, and wants to make money by attracting as many viewers as possible. So sometimes their coverage is slanted to the left and sometimes to the right. What absolutely floors me is that for 7 years they were absolutely in love with Bush. How is it that the media was liberal then? When it comes to the media's coverage of the invasion of Iraq, even people like Dan Rather admit they didn't investigate or question why were going to war - he admits that the media blindly followed the president without question.

And don't even get me started about the media coverage of Hillary Clinton (she was called a witch, a bitch, fat, evil, among other things).

There is no such thing as the liberal media.

Liberal media???? How delusional. The media (and Elizabeth) are Bush's press secretary. They cover up the illegal occupation in Iraq; they perpetuate the false story that Iraq attacked us. They ignore Bush's war profiteering and sick desire to become the greatest president ever by having a war. (?!*#?) They ignore the fact that this country is in so much debt that it will be years before we can recover (unless we continue this "conservative" policy of spend, spend, spend... in other countries), our infrastructure is deteriorating, we have weakend our military and they are not HERE to protect us, and finally, our citizens are losing their homes and jobs. This administration keeps doing things that help the rich and let the poor get poorer. But, when there's a problem in the stock market, then they make corrections; those corrections were NOT made early last year when ordinary people started feeling the negative effects of the Bush administration. Oh... did I mention how this "liberal" media keeps forgetting to report that most of the administration is incompetent and crooks? Yeah right... it's the liberal media.

As far as the "other woman" Sherri Shepherd... she believes that the world is flat and that the world began when Jesus arrived on the scene. OMG The producer of the View is a hard-core Republican and tries to control what is said on the show thru an earpiece that they all have to wear. They probably keep Joy because she turns people off because of the way she sometimes delivers the message. As for Whoopi... there certainly must be something in her contract that keeps her under control and for the most part, she barely gives her opinions on the greed and corruption of this administration. This show is called the View... but it basically gives one view... the neocon view ... and they use a young, amiable woman who has a huge ego and ambitions that ignore the majority of citizens in this country.

Thankfully, the younger people are not buying the lies that our republican-controlled media is jamming down our throats. They see that there is little balance on the View, emptyness on the evening news, and greed in the hearts of these people who support the policies of the Bush Administration. For all of you that support these policies, all I can say is that Karma is a B*tch...

Wait... REPUBLICAN-CONTROLLED MEDIA??! What?? Republicans have ONE news station (fox). And out of all the self-obsessed dolts on the View, there's ONE who gives voice to a conservative persuasion. I'm just upset that the one one aligning with my views is a young, inexperienced airhead who needs to grow a backbone and perhaps, oh, a better understanding of the political process. You think it's an accident that they made the Republican an easy target for the other vultures? This is a joke. Never have I seen such ignorance as I do with the upcoming election and Americans wholeheartedly supporting Obama simply because Oprah tells them to, or because he can give a good speech about "change" but not back it up with ANY ideas regarding feasible policy objectives or solid standing ground on any issues! I met a man this weekend, well-spoken and seemingly well-informed. He could not name ONE policy of Obama's that he supported. He actually stated that, "If Obama does only one thing in his 4 or 8 years in the White House and that's change the tone in Washington, I'll be happy." And there you have it. The MTV generation of informing people to vote Democrat based on "coolness". It's a sad day when a US Presidential candidate dances like a buffoon on the Ellen Show to garner votes. What a fraud. I can't believe people actually buy into this s*it.

I don't know if I support Obama -- and what difference with electronic Black Box Voting -- but I too would be semi-happy if the tone in Washington changed. Not 'coolness'.

It needs to change from threats of imprisonment for free speech, hysterical fear-mongering and hype over so-called terror (remember, the Neo-Cons gave full support to Al-Qaeda 20 years ago and after that too), people who claim to be brave who demand absolute security, calling dissenting American critics of frgn policy "traitors" (a charge if taken literally punishable by death), and accusing critics expressing "common sense" of siding with "the enemy".

The core "family" of Neo-Conservatives consists of about 25 people with names like Perle, Cheney, Abrams, Rumsfeld, Kristol, etc. who have even intermarried, who in the past SOLD weapons to Iran, dedicated a Proclamation of a national holiday (March 21, 1983) to Al-Qaeda "Freedom Fighters", and now covertly support Al-Qaeda related anti-Sunni groups (per Seymour Hersh - Redirection), and Max Boot openly supporting MeK a Stalinist terror group. Republicans have been literally 'in bed' with the terrorists, and have even gone to bat for them since Sept 11. See "Baker-Botts" and Saudis.

that a change in tone from irrationalism to rationalism would be cause for a huge celebration. However, since it would be considered a Liberal bash, attendance is NOT mandatory. No one will call you a traitor if you don't attend (except maybe in backlash or joking). THAT is the real meaning of Liberalism. Live and Let Live.

        THANK YOU!

          Jay and Hoppi,
The Mainstream Media is complex. It's owned lock, stock, barrel by the Mil-Industrial-Security-Intelligence complex, but the vast majority of Americans are socially liberalish -- willing to let others be themselves -- not overly outraged by 'scandals' -- and enticed by titillation -- that they have to SEEM socially liberal.

In the 60's, the CIA created/supported liberal media, liberal art, including bland non-political music and sculpture. This was the 'hip' antidote to outright communist revolution -- not hippie Marxism, but the "communism" of struggling all-American workers, like "Take this job and Shove It" but to the nth degree. But CIA also created Campus Crusade for Christ as an antidote to grassroots college radicalism and free-thinking that was not controlled by the Eastern Lib Establishment, i.e. families like Rockefeller and Bush.

On the other hand, Fox liberally panders to purient interests by spewing *** in "news" segments, often while tut-tut-ing about it. There's a YouTube clip on a very serious story about a serial rapist covered on Fox with a split-screen of gyrating Spring Break bikini context. Hilarious. There's the *fake outrage* over an obscure SanFran gay party where the flyer was a takeoff on the Last Supper, but Fox and "Concerned Women" (a propaganda outift) made this national news.

          Get it??

re: Flyover country. The coasts are where the MONEY is at. Ostentatious Wealth is now equated with Liberalism, not counting the vast govt welfare payments going to "private" Military Contractors that form a revolving door with the govt.

"The View" hasn't been decent since Rosie O'Donnell left. The bias toward the right (Elisabeth, Barbara, Bill Geddes) is pretty much unanswered by anyone articulate who's leaning left or even neutral. Joy tosses out one-liners with no substance, Whoopi has totally chickened out on communicating her "View," and heaven only knows what Sherri Shepard is thinking, since even she apparently doesn't know about 75% of the time. It's sad to see the show become so one-sided and so unrepresentative of what real women in America are thinking and feeling in 2008.

I love Elizabeth and happy she is back from leave BUT what really bugs me is why she wears those summer dresses and shirts. It is 30 degrees/winter !

EH is my least favorite on the View. She is not a good representative of mothers/housewives as she
is just another Hollywood Royalty trying to act like she has all the responsibilities & stress the rest of
us have. Whoopi is definitely a big plus for the show.

I love how all the Dems in the media yell and scream that the world needs to be more tolerrant and open-minded. But, yet whenever EH, the only conservative on a panel of serious liberals, shares an opinion that differs from theirs, SHE is closed minded and bigoted. Someone once said, the Dems haven't become more tolerant, they have just changed targets (now it is the religious and anyone not a Dem). How true.

Whether you agree with her or not, you really need to commend her for her strength in sticking to her convictions. True strength is not agreeing with everyone around you, but in standing up against them when you don't. EH really is the strongest person on that show...

I'm sorry but I don't believe that any of the fine ladies of the View even break the surface of the majior topics they try to cover. I've always felt that they do a little reading , like enough to get buy. Maybe they believe that their viewers can't tell how bland their show really is. Politics and sports should be left to the Pundents who make a living twisting every issue. One of the reasons I like Rosy was because most of her comments flew right out of her mouth and hit home. There was nothing scripted with her.

    • Posted By: casey100 @ 02/05/2008 11:22:18 AM

      Dras,
Don't believe that everything that came out of Rosie's pie-hole wasn't scripted. Everything she said was scripted to make headlines for herself. She didn't give a hoot about anyone but herself....BTW..where is Rosie?

  • Posted By: laurenjumper @ 02/05/2008 8:44:32 AM

She is great. Very intelligent - and that is rare in her line of work.

  • Posted By: chaplainmom @ 02/05/2008 2:26:40 AM

The media don't do anything to harm EH, she does it herself with her own uneducated one sided thinking. Her grasp of basic facts can be tenuous at best. She speaks right wing talking points without a full understanding of what they mean. However...Hillary did elevate her when she sends a hand written note when EH's baby was born! THAT makes EH seem much more important than she is. I would have no problem with a conservative on the View...can you find a smarter one? She came back after 6 weeks because her hunger for fame was more important than staying home with a newborn. Where's that "family first" principle?

"Thank you for not being mean"? What is that? Are people afraid of Hasselbeck? Pretty lame statement, and I'm a liberal.

"Thank you for not being mean"? Is the author afraid of Hasselbeck? What a lame-o statement. (and I'm a liberal)

Elisabeth Hasselbeck is great for the view without her on the view you would have 3 liberals talking praising there side cause you never know what babara walters is thinking, i think she is great for the show and brings a volt of energy on that show. the media paints her out to be a horrible person cause of her views which is wrong. i dont agree with joys vies but i dont paint her to be horrible i think she is funny people should be able to have their own vies and be heard and she does that every day which makes the view what it is. which makes me laugh joy started teh fight between elizabeth and rosie and sat back and watched. but i love elizabeth hasselbeck shes great

  • Posted By: theBetterHalf @ 02/04/2008 8:31:46 PM

Oh yes, it's the LIBERAL media that's the terror here, not the non-liberals who much rather live in a bubble then give a damn about anything else. Wasn't this the same chick that was on a stupid reality show...how does that make her an artist???

  • Posted By: Jay Rez @ 02/04/2008 6:28:17 PM

How can you pathetic Urban asses keep saying there is no liberal media. Do you jerks in New York or San Francisco ever care about what what happens in the "Flyover States?" You are so totally ignorant it's pathetic.

Is this someone's idea of a news story? No wonder I don't subscribe.
