I am thankful that the Pope ENDORSED OBAMA FOR PRESIDENT, for the hope of this country. That endorsement was a signal to our troubled nation and an answer to heal our nation. As a Roman Catholic I am voting for Obama. I believe Hillary supporters are bitter, and they are angry because the Pope did not bless Hillary but has given his blessing to Obama. CATHOLICS FOR OBAMA 08

I???m an American of Mexican decent who lives in California. I find the ignorant comments made on Fox, ABC, and CNN news about why the majority of us chose to support Hillary to be pathetic! Do these bimbos really think that we are passionate about illegal immigrants getting drivers licenses? PLEASE, are they for real? They really are exposing their ignorance on why Hillary has gained so much support from Latinos. For the record, Latinos in California are quite cable of voting for candidates who we believe to be the most qualified, competent, and experienced. Regardless of their skin color or gender. Hillary Clinton has a plan for "change," and doesn't just offer a bunch of rhetoric! It???s evident that she is extremely knowledgeable on issues facing our nation, and is prepared with a plan to resolve them. She also articulates her plan extremely well to the public by devoting a time to questions and answers during rallies, unlike Obama. Why doesn't he anyway? If he were as confident and prepared to lead as he emulates, shouldn???t he be as eager to communicate solutions to vital issues facing our nation. A majority of us not only want to know a candidates plan on solving important issues, we require it before we will vote for them. Otherwise it all sounds like the same familiar rhetoric made by former politicians who make promises, but can???t or won???t deliver. Wake up and smell the ballot box!

I have to disagree with your assessment of Hillary v Obama. From what I have seen during this campaign is that Obama had a plan and stuck to it no matter what the polls or media provided. He has stuck to the plan and moved forward efficiently. It was easy for him because he had a good plan and his logic is sound.

Hillary and Bill on the other hand have been eradic. They have been adjusing radically to the polls and media. Consequently, they have been adjusting to Obama. In the process their credibility has been chipped slowly but surely.

Obama is in control of the process because he is in controll of himself. Consequently, he started with a sound faoundation and has built upon it brick by brick.

Isn't it strange how we can see only what we want to see. Get real folks. They all have plans and strategies. They would be very foolish not to have their agendas. That is what this is all about for people to see who is the most capable to keep this government working. All these candidates are talented and hard working people. It is wonderful to be idealistic, full of hope and promises but that doesn'talways get the job done. Celebraties don't give you a power base to run the country. Hilliary knows the power base of Congress, She knows who can move mountains , who to build her cabinet to make it work. Obama has not been in Congress long enough to have this kind of power base. Who is he going to put in his cabinet. Granted a lot of you will think that is a plus BUT we are in a crisis in this country. WE DO NOT HAVE TIME FOR LESS EXPERIENCED PEOPLE TO LEARN THE ROPES OF INTERNATIONAL POLITICS AND UNDERGROUND POLITICS IN WASHINGTON, DC. This is not a game of who you like or dislike. It's who can put this country together and get it working. I am not a particular fan of Hilliary but I know she can DO THE JOB and do it well. Obama is great orator but he is still unknown territory. OBAMA IS IN "CONTROL" UNTIL THE OPRAH"S BILLION DOLLARS IS NOT TERMINATED !!!

I disagree. Hillary has specific plans and I have heard her (and Bill at a live event) repeat them several times now. Always the same. She is also very good at actually answering questions with real answers. No skirting around them. She is also a good listener. I am not comapring her to anyone else here, just speaking of her.

        • Posted By: Johnny1967 @ 02/07/2008 3:59:57 AM

Granted, Hillary has a plan, which is as specific as one would expect in a campaign. However, Obama has been just as specific. If you go to their respective websites, they lay out their plans pretty clearly in writing. During debates or rallys, a candidate just does not have the time to be specific ??? nor should we expect them to take hours explaining things. All they can give us is a synopsis or talking point of their plans.

Neither Obama nor Hillary has held an executive (e.g., governor or president) position. Therefore, there is no track record of their leadership ability ??? that is, the ability to set plans and move people forward through the plan. Thus, this campaign is the only thing we have to determine who is the better leader.

Obama has been consistent in the compaign. Whether his polls were up, or down, he kept his composure. And people are following. The ability to stay focused and consistent is so important to a commander in chief.

Hillary on the other hand has been significantly thrown off course. Hillary and Bill continue to change and react to Obama. At first, she was the confident front runner, then she became a vulnerable woman, then she became an attacker. Consequently, Hillary and Bill have both been eradic.

People understand how Hillary and Bill must feel when Obama seem to surge in the poll or when he won in Iowa. It is also understandable that the Clintons find it neccessary to react. But a leader does not change course so suddenly and so erratically.

Consequently, the campaign is really showing a contrast between the two candidates.

    http://blogs.abcnews.com/politicalpunch/2008/02/the-super-deleg.html

Based on this article Obama is implying that the super delgates should vote for whoever wins that state. It seems to me then he is saying that Ted Kennedy and John Kerry should cast their votes as super delegates for Hillary and not for Obama.

Also, did anyone else catch David Schuster last night on MSNBC? He asked if Hillary and Bill were "pimping out" Chelsea on the campaign trail. That seems a pretty poor choice of words but heck should I have expected any different from the sexists at MSNBC (Olbermann and Abrams excluded).

I am very much aware of politics as it affects everything in our daily lives. I took a whole day last week to really read up on all the platforms. It appears to me that there is no contest! McCain has done NOTHING in my state of AZ and he supports and continues to take on every screw up Bush has done in his almost 8 yrs in office. If you like Bush McCain is your man, a Bush clone! Hilary and Obama have nearly the same agendas. Only difference is that Obama spells out how is is going to achieve the much, much, MUCH needed changes in this country! He actually has a gameplan. Hilary is much less clear on how she will achieve what she wants in order to change the corrupt Whitehouse and give Americans back their country. I am all for Obama. We need some new blood in the Whitehouse, and I believe he is the one that can band everyone together. He has a very nice background and good values, also has his undergraduate degree in international relations. After Bush managed to get nearly the whole world hating us, maybe that's exactly what we need about now. I always told my own son that it taks a much, much, MUCH bigger man to discuss and negoiate to solve a rift than to just punch someone in the mouth when you disagree. That punch in the mouth mentality is where Bush and McCain are at, and that is NOT the way to solve problems. In Bush's case it was being angry at one person (Bin Laden), then punching a different guy in the mouth. (Sadaam) I think it is way past the time to get this country back on track to where it should be. Bck to the people. I think Obama is genuine in his hopes to do that! However, Bush has messed up this country sooooooooooooo bad, that it will probably take 5 more presidents to fix it!

First I want to tell you that I am white and I have been helping the Obama campaign, while I was helping to inform people where to vote, I didn't see one Clinton supporter being active in our community. That is a crucial role in being president, they need to understand us not just get an overview. Obama has lived in America just like a normal person, he hasn't received the watered down version of our problems. "EXPERIENCE" Isn't something you get by watching your husband spend 8 years in office, we all saw that, it seems we all have the same experience as Hillary. Also we need a stong leader that has "EPERIENCE" in staying firm on what is right, unlike Hillary who was voted for the war and now says she was uninformed, let me remind you our country was informed, somehow it must have skipped her? I don't think so! What will she change her views on now? I can just see it now, if she gets into office she will decide oh healthcare isn't that important! We need a president that won't go back on his word and will stay firm in his promises.

You need to look at the statistics not every black person votes for a black candidate, they vote for who they think will benefit their country, just like everyone else does! You ought to spend less time generalizing and get informed on all of the things Hillary has done! Everyone knows if Hillary wins the primary the republicans will win the presidency again, she is the weakest candidate. Obama has come from almost nothing and is tied with Hillary a person that was famous for her husband she didn't earn what she has. If Hillary had done this by herself then yes, she could be considered as a president, but she hasn't! As for the "wounded and profusely bleeding economy" that is Obama's priority not Hillary's.

Are you saying that certain religions are superior to others? Why should his religious preference be the deciding factor of him being president or not, this is about presidency not a religous competition.

Yes Obama is a "Moticational Speaker" because he is sincere and real. He isn't some phony making promises that he won't keep, that is why people listen to him, unlike Hillary who won't even spend as much time talking to people. She is so worried about the delagates she is forgetting about the people she is going to represent.

    • Posted By: jonoe21 @ 02/19/2008 11:49:07 AM

You say "not every black person votes for a black candidate". Yeah right. Like a black jury didn't acquit O J.

obama doesn't want the war to go on you realize that right?

    • Posted By: johnfhines @ 02/06/2008 12:50:03 PM

Sir, Bill Clinton was younger than Obama when he ran for President! look it up, that's the problem with blogs people posts comments and don't have facts.

  • Posted By: rsbassila @ 02/06/2008 11:13:52 AM

the only reason obama has won some states is because the african-american community is rallying behind him, can't blame them. But they are not enough to make him president. At the end of the dsay Hillary Clinton will come up on top, the smart thing for Obama is to be her VP for 8 years and then have enough experience for him to run as president that will give him an opportunity to be in the white house for a total of 16 years combine. That should be the task . He does not have experience just charisma and speech skills.

    • Posted By: grammagram @ 02/06/2008 11:52:26 AM

EXACTLY WHAT IS HILLARY'S EXPERIENCE? WHY WILL SHE NOT CLARIFY? MAYBE BECAUSE IT'S BILL'S EXPERIENCE SHE IS TOUTING AS HER'S. BECAUSE YOU SLEEP WITH AN ACCOUNTANT DOESE NOT MAKE YOU A CPA! VOTE FOR HONESTY. VOTE OBAMA!

      • Posted By: jonoe21 @ 02/19/2008 11:31:07 AM

When Obama was asked to give details of his programs, he said {go to my websita.}. I went to his website and found nothing new. Hillary's website is much more informative.

    • Posted By: sumthinelse @ 02/06/2008 11:51:02 AM

Excuse me, but this is totally incorrect. One NW caucus state doesn't have enough blacks to possibly make a dent in the vote, yet Barak Obama WON BY AN OVERWHELMING majority... more than 80%, in some very white areas it was 100% for Obama. Fortunately, this young man has not had enough time in Washington DC politics to become corrupt. The Clintons (yes it will be both of them running the govt.!!) have a long history of devious, deceitful, dishonest, and criminal activity. He even had his law license suspended!!! She has covered up many many many lies and illegal practices. She ruined health care once, let's not give her the second chance. It's time to break the Bush/Clinton cycle and go for a real change!!!!!!!!!!!!! If it ends up Clinton or McCain... I'll vote McCain.

  • Posted By: patriotausnord @ 02/06/2008 10:37:39 AM

Bottom line: Barack is a non-patriot. He disgraces the American Flag and has the nerve to run for President. He has not given a detailed plan of action either. But the sheep will follow cause he's charismatic and young.

    • Posted By: MDavis62 @ 02/06/2008 11:45:46 AM

Help me to understand what a "Patriot" is and why you are stating that Obama is not one. And good choice of words..."but the sheep will follow". I hope so, since there was another young man that the sheep followed and was too considered inexperienced and too young, but thank God he was placed as King and ruled the people greatly. Let's remember who is really in charged and pray for wisdom in our choice for presidency.

This is the third post I've seen from you comparing your candidate and his followers to the Jesus and his followers. Do you really believe that Obama is the second coming or a messiah?

    • Posted By: SWS in the USA @ 02/06/2008 10:56:46 AM

Why is it when someone voices opposition to a government which has subverted the constitution and defied international law he is branded as a "non patriot?" As far as I am concerned, he is the ONLY real patriot out there, someone who has had the nerve to say the Emperor is not wearing any clothes.

    • Posted By: compassionprez @ 02/06/2008 10:53:08 AM

obviously you have not seen Obama's website, where he clearly outlines his plan for change. In fact, he is the only candidate that actually wrote out exactly what he plans on doing. All you have to do is check out barakobama.com. Read his blueprint for change.

    • Posted By: esya @ 02/06/2008 10:50:48 AM

"The sheep will follow cause he's charismatic and young".

This is the political truth and all the rest is window dressing. No one will vote for someone that looks or acts like their mother, even if mom is the one that does all the work. This country is truly misogynist, because if a young woman ran they could not see her as a viable candidate either. I might vote for Michelle Obama but of course she's standing behind her man. And for all those American women with husbands, boyfriends, and kids who voted for Obama last night I say to you: your bread is not buttered on the men's issues just because you are heterosexual. Look at the supreme court decisions, the laws, and the economics of the lives of women and children. If you think a traditional married man is going to help you out on this you can look forward to a lifetime of working for others, including supporting your elderly mom while your hone-do is out earning pay that under most company's rules does not fully belong to you.

Do any of you know that the song played after Obama's campaiign speeches is the same one George W. Bush used after his speeches? Someone who knows also says his style is eerily the same as GW used in his campaign with Al Gore--who is still my president by the way. Be careful what you wish for!! do any of you Obama people know the song obama plays after his campaign speeches is the same one that George Bush used after his. Doesn't that give you some pause??? When he makes speeches he uses some of the same kind of speeches George Bush used. Be careful what you wish for. Obama scares me and I've followed politics for some time and no, I am not a racist.

When I was growing up, we had 3 pictures hanging in our living room: Pope Pius, Mary & Jesus and Franklin Delano Roosevelt. I have Democratic genes in my body. I've worked for every Democratic candidate since JFK and voted Democratic for over 50 year. I will not vote for Barack Obama is he is the Democratic candidate. I think he is arrogant, and preachy, and even he doesn't know what he stands for.
FDR would probably roll over in his grave if he ever thought I would vote for a Republican. However, if Huckabee should by some miracle win the nomination, he would get my vote. I think the men in this country would somehow feel emasculated if they had to vote for a woman. It's the same workplace ethic that keeps women from getting the same pay as men even if they sometime are superior. This is the most important election of our lives and shouldn't be given to someone who doesn't know what he is doing. I love this country and for once in my life I see that someone can really get us out of the mess we're in. I just wish every once would wake up and do what's right for this country for a change. Got that off my chest. Thanks

I finally took the time to read the posted messages (6) of Mariblle dated 2-6-08. This comment is for the people who live in the idealistic world that believe our candidates we elect will change our world. Who ever is elected will inherit all the past administrations histories. It will be mind-boogling for a green-horn president. SO BE CAREFUL WHO YOU ELECT. Maribelle is RIGHT about our global situation. I agree with 90% of what that person wrote. The Bilderberg Group likes to control our Administration. They have hated the Clintons from the git-go because they are not one of them. Geo. Bush senior didn't want the vise- president he had to take...he tried to stop it but the next morning he had to but a smile on his face and accept him. TAKE THE TIME ...READ MARIBELLE IF YOU HAVEN'T. The fact that Hillary loaned her campaign $5 million highlights a serious loophole in our campaign finances system. It also proves the fact that being President reaps personal financial rewards much greater than the Presidents salary.

How can the public be sure that the $5 million loan is not substantively financed from a large Hillary contributor? For example, suppose Hillary calls a large donor for campaign contributions. However, the donor cannot donate more because he has already reached the maximum. Well, they could make a deal for Hillary to loan the campaign fund (which there is no limit) and agree that Bill Clinton will be paid $5 million for several speaking engagements later. In substance (although not in form), the large contributor was able to donate more funds.

Also, it does not seem rational for Hillary to risk $5 million of her own funds in anticipation of being paid back later. Given the competitive race, even if she wins the presidency, the chances of ending up with a surplus to be paid back seem almost unlikely.

Of course, it may make some sense if being President itself will provide financial gain to the Clintons. Then it???s a business investment. But that raises issues of whether the President should be sought expecting personal financial gains. In this case, for the $5 million to be a rational investment, the Presidency would have to provide Hillary with at least a $5 million financial gain. Given the risk of winning, say 50%, the return must be $10 million.

Thus, the fact that Hillary invested $5 million just proves that being President has substantial financial rewards.

By the way, it appears that Hillary is willing to invest up to $20 million in this campaign.

Re: Presidential Income. Have you read "Write it when I'm gone" by Thomas DeFrank? It is conversations with Gerald Ford. Gerald Ford and Harry Truman were probably the most honest presidents we have ever had. There is a segment about presidential income before and after office. Very informative. P0sted by Dana77

  • Posted By: ericrsiny @ 02/08/2008 10:40:03 AM

As for Hillary not being able to hang on when it comes to money she does not need to raise as much as he does but just stay competitive. She will probably be able to do so until March 4th and by that day I am betting we will have a much clearer picture on who the nominee will probably be (although I know that it is virtually impossible for either to get the number of pledged delegates needed based on what is left--one candidate would need 1100 of the 1800 and with propotional rules that is almost impossible)

  • Posted By: danielgouldman @ 02/08/2008 2:37:19 AM

She will not be able to hang with Obama in money....he has that advantage. I've given to his campaign 4 times already. Just $25 increments...nothing major. But - the power of the people is alive and well.

I'm not liking where she stands on campaign finance. I do like where Obama stands on this issue. Its an important issue to me...although - for some...it seems that it falls under the radar. I want a government that is accountable and transparent and it appears that Obama is willing to lead by example....I can't say the same of Senator Clinton.

I need to know that I can trust what my president says. I need to know that they're not going to challenge me on the definition of the word "is". I need to know that they can't be bought...and they won't pardon rich financiers of their campaign. I need to know that they have a vision for the country that includes republicans and independents as well as democrats. I don't like alot of the republican ideas but I want to kill them with smart ideas and bridging the divide. Eliminate the divisiveness and start working together. Obama can pull some red states in the general election - Clinton won't even win over all the democrats...

i don't know why people would vote for OBAMA. THEY SHOULD REALLY THINK ABOUT THIS, AFTER ALL HE IS A MUSLUM. OPERA IS TO AND THEY PREACH BLACK POWER. IF HE GET IN , IS HE GOING TO TURN THE WHITE HOUSE IN TO A SHINE FOR HIS RELIGION ,TO PRAY?????

Sonny AZ--- Willie's depiction was a little on edge but still..... how can you say for certain that Obama is not muslim? How can you say for certain that he is not a closet muslim or that he didn't practice muslim faith as a child or young man?

His name is BARACK HUSSEIN OBAMA----------What does that name sound like to you and be truthful. You know it sounds muslim. Even if he has converted to Christianity, if it is proven that he was once a muslim or is a closet muslim it will cause problems. I can shamefully admit that I am not ready for a muslim president. and it will matter to alot of people.

And PLEASE don't call me an idiot or tell me to get an education because I have my AA, BA and is currently working on my MA. Please give the same respect you want given to you.

        • Posted By: EonBlueApocolypse @ 02/06/2008 4:03:34 PM

Does it matter what religion he is? George Bush was one of the worst and one of the most Christian presidents ever. As for his name, I have a name the sounds like I belong to a certain religion, yet that religion is not the one I belong to. I can tell you have some education because you don't type in caps lock and you didn't make a million grammatical errors. Please just judge these candidates on what they say and do, not their name and some groundless accusations that various idiots make on the internet. Thank you for being respectful. However, please consider amending your position on this issue.

I respect your opinion and I definitely see your point of view. . I am not saying I am right. I can only say how I feel and I do have reservation about a President with Muslim affiliation. Don't get me wrong, I respect all religions and I would NEVER speak badly about Muslims. But I guess I am still stuck with that long time tradition of "One Nation Under God". I can only say that the muslim issue, if proven to be true would be a concern of mine. I have to shamefully admit. And I also believe it would be an issue for others as well.
I am sorry. I am NOT saying I am right, I am just speaking on personal feelings and it would be an issue. I'm sorry.

Once again, you are intelligent enough to concede that you may not be right and I can tell you don't hate Muslims like some of these other posters. Thank you.

Hey, can you tell me exactly what grade you were in when you flunked out of Elementary School? I am guessing third grade but I want to know for sure. I guess I am just curious. I won't bother telling you why you are so wrong you make George Bush look like Stephen Hawking. Instead I will give you something that you might learn from. I'm going to correct your grammar. I noticed that you capitalized most of your post, but you forgot to capitalize I at the start of your first sentence. You misspelled Muslim as well. Remember when you are showing your hate filled ignorance that it is Muslim, not Muslum. It makes you look even dumber, which is quite a feat. Also, it is Oprah you were trying to write. not opera. An opera is something you go to when you wish to witness a large woman in a viking helmet sing in a deep baritone. When you say "OPERA IS TO" you were going for "Oprah is too". Too means the same as "as well" or "also". As in "Oprah is a Muslim as well". You wrote "IF HE GET IN". It should be "If he gets in". Please notice my lack of use of the caps lock. I know it is hard to restrain yourself from the siren call of the caps lock, but please do not SCREAM in your posts. A few more corrections, into is a word, don't use in to, and shrine was the word your feeble mind was looking for, not shine. Please use your brain once in a while, ignorance is not attractive.

Come on now don't tease the idiots, You have to know that anyone who is stupid enought to post something like this hasn't a clue who Steven Hawkins is.

Oh, but it is so tempting!! I'm tired of the ignorant, close minded people who pollute this comment section with their mind garbage. There are quite a few intelligent people here, but they are drowned out by the idiots.

I am truly ashamed to be an american after seeing how many idiots actually voted for Barack. I have listened to him talk and he never actually says anything he just babbles the same psyco-babble that we always hear from politians. If he was so good at what he does he would not need Oprah to fund his campaign. I can't believe that with his close ties to hollywood that we as a people believe what hes saying, hes acting duh! He will continue to tell us what he thinks we want to hear, and if we give him the white house he will do with it what he sees fit. If Barack wins the election I will renounce my citizenship and mov out of the country cause there will be no more hope for the US. He speaks of a US that will no longer be devided, hes full of it, he will only devide us greater. If he wins we will be the black and white states of america!

What a pathetic, white idiot you are! It is already the Black and White States of America. Your stupid comments demonstrates that. Celebraties have ALWAYS been into politics. They are no different than you or me--except for their celebrity. Do you think blacks and whites are as stupid as you, and will vote for a candidate because a celebrity says so? Just say what you are...a simple-minded redneck who is such a dolt, he will claim to leave the greatest country this planet has ever seen, just because a black man is its leader. How pathetic. What a fool.

Yeah and they were CLEARED of all charged, JERK! What's YOUR problem?
You must be a republican that believes all the crap that the REPUBLICAN COUNCIL started.
Why didn't BUSH fill that vacancy later? Because he would have been impeached hundreds of times over for legitimate reasons?????

please, explain what do you mean? what has he done? what has he said? or better... what the hell are you talking about? if i were like you i'd sum you up as a disgruntled non-colored dike, but i'm not... so I'll give you the benefit of the doubt. Lots of people forget to take their medication from time to time... it's OK, really.
