Comment: Senator Obama is supported by alot of people who think that he can issue drivers licenses to immigrants. What about us, the American People, who live here and have to work to get things. We do not go and get a driver's license because we want one, we have to pass a test and proof that we are credible. People from other countries come here to better themselves and some do, but we, as Americans who live here, were born here, and who pay taxes are the ones left in the dark. Most Americans fit in-between the cracks where you either have it or you don't have it. Some of this immigrants have more given to them than the Americans who work hard and hold two jobs to make end meet. They get free medicaid, free foodstamps, and they don't pay taxes. They sent their money to their country where they have nice homes and then they come to our country and fight for their so called rights. Some of us don't qualify for Medicaid because we own a home, even though I am over 62 years, and I am still working. We don't qualify for foodstamps because I make too much money, and you're too young to collect Social Security. By the time I retire, there won't be anymore money for me to collect. Yet there are many who are lazy, don't want to work, and they collect disabilities checks and they roam around all day doing nothing and here I am paying their ticket for their well-being. I feel that Mrs. Clinton is the best person for the job. President Clinton was a great president, and he would be able to advise her. President Clinton was critized for being a liar, but he straightened out our economy and he did a great job. His personal life was not important to me. I will be voting for Democratic Clinton because it is the only way to go.

It is PC driving the Obama vote in many of these states like Kansas and Idaho, etc...not who the best candidate at this time. Let's show everybody that we are not people with prejudice. I wish Barrack would have accepted the position as Hillary's running mate to be groomed as the next president. As it is now, we Hillary supporter are so angered over the tactics by the Obama campaign and the media to smear her as racist. This after all the support the Clinton's have given to the African-American community in their political careers. It has brewed a resentment that may well cause her supporter to vote for McCain. Or better yet, to run an independent candidacy should Obama get the nomination. Ideally we could have a Clinton/Obama ticket, but it no longer looks likely. We Dems seem to be a self destructive lot. If she goes independent, so does my vote.

No for the midwestern Iowa and kansas, it was his vote for the corn based ethanol.

Hilary has the determination and support to do great things should she be elected. Don't count her out just yet; she has a lot support coming from minority groups such as the North American Indians.

As a Democrat I must say after watching the campaigns of Obama and Clinton ... if it comes down to Clinton or McCain... I will vote McCain... Sad huh?

    • Posted By: esya @ 02/06/2008 4:33:46 PM

No I understand completely I have been considering McCain as an alternative to Obama. I am sure that's exactly what the Republicans intended when they started trashing Hillary 16 years ago.

Speaking of the Mayan Calender....I do not see 2012 as the end of the world. I see it as a devastating time that will change the world as we know it now. Especially in the USA. It will be aprox. 2030 before we see the beginning of a civilized world again. Somethings will be better but nothing will be the same. I truly fear it will be like our Civl War of the 1860's but twice as bad. posted by Dana77

II must admit, it is a bit ironic that her speeches are all based on change, yet she has already been in the White House and at least to me represents a ???seen that done that??? scenario. Obviously, there is a big difference between being the First Lady and being President, but I still feel that both Hillary and Bill had there time. Let???s all move on from the past 2 administrations.

I find the media guilty of trying to tell us who is going to win the White House. Clinton, she knows what she wants to do and how to do it, Obama is a lot of talk, talk, talk about change. He sounds more like a minister everyday. The only way "we the people" will get change is to go out and learn the facts for ourselves instead of being led to the polls by the cry of change. As far as Obama goes - HE IS NOT JFK. I grew up during JFK being President. As history shows, Bush is not the only President that stoled the Whige House. JFK with the help of the Mop did the same thing. As for Ted Kenndy, what about the young girl he let drown? I could go on and on about the Kenndy clan but don't have the time. And yes I'm a Democrat but if Obama gets the nomination I will join with many other Democrats and vote independent.

If they are illegal I do not believe that they should have any rights whatsoever. I also wish that whomever ends up in the White House would seriously consider revising the Birthright Law. Doing so would definely end a whole lot of illegals sneaking into the country and dropping babies for welfare.

Are you all STUPID?. Hillary CLinton is an old woman! She's been in offices already. She needs to sit back and relax. I WANT NEW -BARACK OBAMA IS NEW. She needs to sit back and relax and be content with her life. Let the Nation experience New Blood, someone with new ideas and goals. CLINTON CAN BRING ABOUT CHANGE BUT OBAMA CAN BRING ABOUT A COMPLETE CHANGE!

Enter Your Comment THe change is from Republicans to Democrats ? Hillary has policies and more substance than Obama . Obama is inpirational and a motivational speaker but will that bring you food in the table and pay your morgage ? The economy is bleeding profusely and we need an EXPERIENCE SURGEON not a FAITH HEALER . YOU intelligent voters should vote with your minds , as the Blacks vote for Blacks .for Blacks to make them feel good .

Why isn't Obama talking about his Mother (who is white)? Also, why is he not defending himself when people say he went to a Muslim school in Indonesia and studied Wahabism there? I'm not sure if the latter part is true but just the thought of Obama going to that school really worries me. I hope for America's sake this is untrue.

    • Posted By: jamrock66 @ 02/06/2008 4:31:45 PM

Many people gets half the information and ran with it as if it is foundational truth. Obama had no control over the school his parents choose for him as a child, he has no control over the name given to him, and he has nbo control over who his parents had an affiliation with. The fact that he is now running for president of the US should not frighten anyone as you cannot deny him his true identity and rights as an American citizen.
Obama will open many doors for the lowly man here in this country. NOt many people can break into the the power structure that a small group fo white men set up for themselves. Most whites folks cannot break into such a circle. However if you can remember Tiger Woods a few years back taking the Golf course and opening it to just about anyone who wish to play the game now we hear of such name as V.J. and others of whom were unknown and would have remain unknown had it not being for Tiger.

Obama is the key to the door for all American access to the whitehouse.

All of you Obama supporters that are calling anyone else "racist" should do a little research into the church he has been a member of for so long. It is the worse display of racism ever. The racist in this country are Jesse Jackson,Al Sharpton, etc.not the majority of the white or hispanic population. Obama is a smooth talker and says what EVERYBODY wants to hear. If he loves America so why wont he say the pledge or wear a lapel flag pin. Where is his father, his mother,is she still an Atheist? There is nothing ever really said about the outer perimeter of his family, although everyone wanted to make a big problem with Romney being Mormon. The rules should be good for everyone. Obama has a temper, that is probably why no one is questioning him on these issues. He even lashed out at an audience member in the beginning of the campaign for making reference to his "big ears" Give me a break! You all are so EASILY DUPED.

    • Posted By: esya @ 02/06/2008 4:30:23 PM

this is interesting, did you see him speak? I don't care if he is the antichrist, but if his religious upbringing comes with the typical patriarchal views toward women, that is an issue for me as a voter.

    • Posted By: AWoman4Change @ 02/06/2008 11:40:04 AM

I'm sorry do you know him personally? Of course you dont. Yes, you are a racist and its apparant by the fact that all the people you just named are BLACK. The fact that you justify yourself further shows your insecurities in your own inner feelings. Why should he be punished for whatever your percieved views of his mother and father are. Barack is his own man he is over 40 years old with a wife and a family of his own, so stick to the important things. Secondly you have no idea what you are talking about with his church, as usual when a whole bunch of outspoken black people are in one room "WE MUST BE UP TO SOMETHING HORRIBLE" You are ignorant, and a sad person. While I myself do not always agree with the stands that Jess and Al take, I do agree that they stand up for people that otherwise would not have a voice. As usual people want to pretend like racism does not still exist, and we live in a equal country. We dont, and its nothing wrong with being an advocate for equality. So you should grow up, and go back to the research drawing board

So WHAT! This is why religion and government are seperate, and did you not notice that part of that faith agenda says "the dignity of ALL humankind"? And if you knew anything about TUCC you would understand that the agenda is NOT racist, it simply encourages African Americans to take a stand against the racism that is still present in our nation, and what is wrong with that might I ask? We should ALL be doing so much.

  • Posted By: msaries @ 02/06/2008 4:00:17 PM

This is the best example of how ignorant some people can be. First don't you need to be a US citizen to vote? I don't think people that are not legal US citizens can vote, can they? So it doesnt matter if they speak English or not, if they are not legal they don't vote. My next comment is for the person that doesn't know that Osama was executed. OBAMA is running for President of the United State of America, and not all Blacks are voting for him because of the color of his skin. For you to make that statement shows that you are NOT voting for him because of his color. Do You Have a Clue.?

    • Posted By: sjpersonal @ 02/06/2008 4:20:48 PM

i agree with with PROF2008, some of this comments are just a bit sophmoric . listen i can really understand that there are those of us who are fearful but let's not let fear control us and trick us into hysteria. some people want that to happen .having said that , obama is an american ,his religion past or present can't change that fact .and i've heard him speak of his mother ,but let's be honest if he made that an issue there would be many who would attempt to use those comments against him ,and deflect away from the real issues.he's smarter than that.i've alo read that obama appeals to the more wealthy dems ,ok ,"tit for tat". many of his donations came in $5,$10,$20 and $50 denominations .

It is funny to hear Barrack say that his campaign is not based on race or any other factor, yet the African-American vote goes to him by over 80 percent. African-Americans have forgotten that the Clinton's stood up for them in the 90s when most politicians ignored them. I expected the hate from the southeastern part of the U.S. where the Bubba's and their self-loathing women still don't care for "uppity", strong women, but it is disappointing to see African-Americans dissert them in such large numbers. They will regret it. Hillary would be so much more capable at this time in her career to deliver African-Americans and all of us into a better economic situation.

    • Posted By: esya @ 02/06/2008 10:52:37 AM

I had two memorable phone conversations while campaigning for Hillary. The first was a man who said he was going to "Vote for the Bro' and not the ho'" and the other one was a Republican couple who intended to vote for Hillary. Nuff said about change.

      • Posted By: MDavis62 @ 02/06/2008 11:53:27 AM

And you point is....I'm not understand and I hope just because you had one disturbing phone call in which you believe represents all Black Americans you are very narrow minded. I received several and I mean several disturbing calls in my time of costumer service and never did I catagorize those people as the norm for all. Let's see things as they are and people as they are...some good and some bad, but not all the same. That's the problem with us a people...we want to put each other in catagories based on one experience. It's not fair and I hope you will pray and search your heart for the right answers and decisions.

        • Posted By: esya @ 02/06/2008 4:17:23 PM

Don't put words in my mouth. I said they were memorable and that's what I meant. I thought the bro' comment was funny at the time and laughed. But it certainly does not represent any sort of "change" perspective as far as I can see.

    • Posted By: jaydoubleu @ 02/06/2008 10:57:00 AM

As a registered African-American, undecided, young independent voter, it is extremely funny to hear about all of the supposed times that the Clinton's stood up for African-American's in the 90's. What where they? When where they? Because, the major issue that was important to me during Clinton's presidency, as a young African-American was the genocide in Rwanda. And, what exactly did Bill Clinton do? He kept American troops out of the fray, and flew into Rwanda after the genocide had stopped and apologized and gave a bronze plaque at the airport for the 400,000+ that were senselessly murdered. He didn't even leave the airport... fly-in, fly-out, caught with his fly-down, and this was supposedly the "first Black president", friend to the minorities. I still haven't decided on who to vote for, but I think it is very presumptious to say that African-Americans should vote for Clinton because this, or Obama because of that. Personally, I might just vote for Ron Paul just to prove that I am an independent thinker... Ha.

  • Posted By: peggysu2003 @ 02/06/2008 4:15:50 PM

I don't care if he is Democrat or Republican and I don't care what color Barack Obama is, I care that he cares genuionally for this country and how each act in the white house affects the people. He seems to care about our lively hood , yes us the American people! while I have great sympathy for other counrty's and there children etc.. we need to get back to caring about ours for the long haul.

  • Posted By: mj011685 @ 02/06/2008 4:14:39 PM

How about you go look at the records, if you had really done that much research, you would change your tune. And stop attacking other people, it just makes you look ignorant, which I doubt you are. Lets focus on the issues rather than why you think other people don't know what they're talking about.

Claudialb70 is right. Let's set aside the fact that Obama, like the JFK he increasingly tries to emulate, is an empty suit--lots of rhetoric, no real knowledge of what it takes to be president. Do the math--Obama is carrying Democrat primaries largely in states with large African-American populations--who vote 80-90% and more for Democrats. He is generally taking a white percentange in the 20s. Nationwide, that is not a winning combination. Furthermore, antiwar candidates--a huge part of the Obama message--don't do well. Look at the Democrats in 1968 and 1972. Much as I would prefer either McCain or Romney, I do hope the Democrats go for someone who could actually govern and has a realistic chance of winning, and that is Hillary. At least we would know what we were getting. Obama is dangerously vague.
