Personally I think it should be illegal for Clinton to run for presidency... there are terms and term limits for a reason. To just tag your partner in for the next term is cheesy. Think of another 4-8 years under Laura Bush and Cheney

Its time to heal from the wounds we keep opening from the scabs we keep scratching. Its time to offer better than minimum wage jobs that only last a week and say the "economy is flourishing". Its time to let our friends and neighbors at our borders and over the seas know that not all Americans are stupid.

We need to heal. Can we?

    Yes we can.

Yeah I support Obama for president.

As a note, I normally don't do this but I am really sick of whats been going on in USA, my home. Last time the presidency came about, all I did was go out and throw a vote into a machine. Obviously I didn't do enough to help change the face of what is going on. This year I am actually going to speak out.

No, "Prof2008", "sexist, rude, debasing remarks" are NOT why Americans have lost their respect in the world. We've lost respect because we listen to crap from pseudo-intellectuals like you, people who profess their intelligence instead of living it. I call a pig a pig and have absolutely no need to justify my life's position to you or anyone else, for that matter. Apparently you failed to see that I'd vote for Condy Rice if she were on the ticket, so your "racist" "sexist" flap should shut itself. You're an idiot and by opening your mouth, you prove it to everyone else.

What scares me ... and what should scare the heck out of everyone else, is people like you who are championing goofballs like Clinton and Obama based on what they TELL you they will do IF elected. Like we've never heard campaign promises before, eh? No, you clown, you and your ilk are trying to tell the rest of the thinking/questioning world what to think/believe based only on words. WHERE'S THE ACTION? WHY haven't you bothered to look at the ACTIONS of these candidates?

    Know why?

'Cause you're just as big a clown as they are. You deserve either one in the White House.

God bless America???? Nope ... more like God HELP America!

To "The Broker" : Maybe we should feel the same way about people that are illiterate and don't know how to spell Democratic. Sincerely Born & raised in the USA; daughter of Mexican Immigrants

    • Posted By: SonnyAZ @ 02/06/2008 4:00:08 PM

I think he knows very well how to spell Democratic. Obviously, a typo..I agree with broker on this one. I am in the financial business and have seen many times over, a illegal using someone elses social securtiy # to buy a home, get a job, vote! If they get caught, send them back once, caught again here illegally, put them in jail. If you cant come over h3ere legally, dont come. These people should go immediately to jail, for using someone elses social security #.

      • Posted By: claudiab70 @ 02/06/2008 4:08:40 PM

That is a whole different issue. If you actually read his comment, he is speaking on immigrants not illegals. Read the fine type-0

So you are saying that simply because Obama is drawing a lot of minority votes that the change that is taking place is for the worse? Who died and made the white man God? I'm not sure about everyone else but I can definitely say that maybe what our country needs is a little diversity at a higher level, maybe then the rest of the world would start respecting us again. It seems like as soon as our country starts being tolerant and claiming that we welcome all races and religions they turn around and start slanderizing these people. No wonder the U.S. has lost most of its friends in the world, we need to stop stomping around like we're kings of the universe.

  • Posted By: Glennyrd @ 02/06/2008 3:19:09 PM

Unfortunately I don't think this country is just quite ready (especially the older population) for a: A female president & B: A person of color, especially one with a name that rhymes with OSAMA! I really don't think where they stand on the issues is what the older people even care about. I have over 400 clients in my business with the average age between 65 & 70 and that is their mentality!? So maybe next after some of these older small minded people die off will be get a president elected based on what they stand for and not based on their WASP upbringing.

    • Posted By: Dana 77 @ 02/06/2008 4:08:10 PM

Sorry Glennyrd ...just don't quite agree about the over age 65 people. They have survived WW2 and Korean War plus all the wars since. Most of them are still mentally active and keep up on politics. Look at how many over 65 yrs of age have voted for Hilliary. Or did you notice that. They have a better understanding about the costs of war than anyone under 38 yrs of age. They also understand how difficult it is to be a statesman instead of a politican in Congress these last 20 yrs. We could help our elected officials if we could put extremely tight rules to control the lobbists...that would take the monkey off the backs of our electorial who are trying to get something done for the people. Of course we need to get NAFTA changed, we will never get rid of it. We need to get rid of Program 'D' for perscriptions or at least get it changed. It is only a boon-doogle for the insurance companies. If we really want this country to get back to the people, we need to elect some conservitity Democrats or "Centrists" to Congress. If we don't , and Congress goes Republican, getting a Democratic president isn't going to get any changes. You have to have both working together. So look to who you are voting for Congress. posted by Dana 77

I must admit, it is a bit ironic that her speeches are all based on change, yet she has already been in the White House and at least to me represents a ???seen that done that??? scenario. Obviously, there is a big difference between being the First Lady and being President, but I still feel that both Hillary and Bill had there time. Let???s all move on from the past 2 administrations.

    • Posted By: Anderya @ 02/06/2008 4:05:32 PM

She's taken on the flag of "change" because she thinks it sells, but it is not hers to fly. Hillary can't get the grease of Washington off of her, the lobbyists live in her back pocket. I supported Obama yesterday, and will not vote for Hillary...
the right will unify if she is nominated and a possible McCain/Huckaby ticket would be too much for her.

clinton can't win the independents like Obama and even McCain. Plus, republicans have too much ammo against Hillary b/c she's married to Bill. Experience schmerience... How about someone with good morals and ideals and the motivation to create positive change. If the Dems want to win the big one...they need OBAMA as their candidate. GO OBAMA

Obama's revivals are fine for now but how is that tactic going to work in White House meetings - meetings with foreign dignitaries, etc? He's a cheerleader - he and his friend Oprah. I'm sorry, I do not believe that Obama has the political experience to occupy the highest office in the land. 2012 should be his year - we need the strength, dignity and experience possessed by Hillary Clinton. She has been in the game for a very long time and has suffered through crushing failures - both politically and personally and she still has the moxy to stand up - dust herself off and continue to strive to work for what is in the best of interest of ALL American citizens - not just some of them. The smart choice is Hillary.

    • Posted By: Incredulous in 08 @ 02/06/2008 3:07:37 PM

So then what do you say to the fact that Obama has MORE TIME IN ELECTED OFFICE than Hillary does?

      • Posted By: Concerned Mom in FL @ 02/06/2008 4:03:02 PM

You are correct, Sen. Obama has been in elected office for a longer time than Sen. Clinton, however, as First Lady to Bill she was a very visible, very involved force to be reckoned with. When the former President Clinton was out of office she went in to elected office. Prior to that she served the American agenda at the side of her husband. She definitely has more experience.

    • Posted By: eagles1776 @ 02/06/2008 3:10:38 PM

How much experience did George W. Bush have with national politics before becoming President? How about Bill Clinton? Of course Ronald Reagan had loads of federal experience, right? At least Obama is a Senator. He knows people and how to get things done. Like those before him without federal experience he will have the people we hire to help them. Those who scurry about in the West Wing making it all happen.

      • Posted By: Concerned Mom in FL @ 02/06/2008 3:53:18 PM

We can all see how a lack of experience in National politics affected GWB - our Country is suffering immensely. Clinton had some hiccups but all in all I believe he transitioned well from State service to National service. In case you don't realize this - the President selects the cabinet - the people the President works most closely with - perhaps you shouldn't center your political thinking around TV shows

  • Posted By: TheBroker @ 02/06/2008 1:30:19 PM

I can tell you one thing right now. If Hillary is given the nomination, I will vote republican and I'm a die hard Democrat. You better believe that if Hillary gets the nod, she WILL NOT get the majority of Obama's supporters. We're sick of the same old thing in washington. We need a change of direction and Hillary has proven through her voting that she is incapable of going against the grain, even if it's the right thing to do. I'm not being racial, nor am I calling Hillary supporters idiots, however, stop looking at what she promises to do and start looking at the fact that Republicans hate Bill and Hillary and everything they stand for. She is incapable of affecting change in Washington. I hope you wake up or it's going to be a long 4 years.

    • Posted By: esya @ 02/06/2008 4:03:00 PM

Fine, you do that, if you want to make a threat in frustration you just go ahead. If Obama gets the nod, maybe McCain will become president and you can be proud that you put hating an individual (woman) over any other good of the country. You can always claim you were brainwashed by 15 years of Republican hate mongering. If you were a die hard democrat you would not make the threat.

I believe that Obama is a true American! How can he not be, anyone who would stand up on that podium in November and take all of that responsibility onto their shoulders, knowing that we are all looking to him for guidance, is a true American. It takes guts to want that kind of power, because with that power comes a lot of responsibility. Obama has the ability to affect change and to turn this country around after the fiasco of the Busch terms. And America IS fighting, we are saying we want change, we want to bring our boys HOME, we are fighting for a chance to not let these things again, we need a different sort of president, we need Obama.

I live in Illinois, so I guess I'm supposed to vote for Obama. Why? Because this is his home state. Oh, that's a great reason. Actually, I'm against Obama and it's because I'm from Illinois. Obama ran pretty much unopposed here, because the Republican candidate for Senator, who was a solid challenger, dropped out of the race when his ex-wife revealed he liked kinky sex and suggested a threesome. Ooh, clearly Jack Ryan couldn't be a good leader, then! So, a last second fill-in was chosen, Alan Keyes, who is a nut and offered no competition. Obama spoke a good game about all the things he was going to do. He looked like he might actually be a leader. But no, before he does or learns anything, he runs for President. If he gets in, he won't be able to do anything because Congress won't respect him and will be jealous. He has failed to deliver on his promises to Illinois because of his campaign. I didn't vote for him so that he could run for President; I voted for him to be an Illinois Senator. Once he's proven himself with a few terms, if he wants to run, great. Right now, I have nothing by which to gage him, except for the fact that he isn't doing his job and has broken that promise to Illinios, already. That's not a good trait. Also, he seems hungry to be President; impatient to wait until he has more experience or afraid he will screw up and taint his record. I don't want an impatient President or one afraid to make a mistake.

Obama also has flipped personalities. He used to talk about the issues; now, he just shrieks, "Change... change... change... I'm exicted... change!" Who makes the least change in government and the status quo? The candidates who scream about "Change!"

Gotta go with Clinton; has the experience, has paid her dues, shows extreme patience, both with her husband and in her own policital career.

Truthfully, neither is a leader. Once again, no leaders are running, just politicians. Politicians want to see their names in history books; leaders write history.

Colin Powell and Al Gore, where are you guys? You are the candidates we need! Scratch that; you are the leaders we need!

(part of my entry today on my blog DId You Stop to Think?)

Thanks for your real life experience of having Obama be your representative; it confirms my suspicions that he is one of those who is all about the next big step for his own career, and not about the life of a public servant.

Why do the News Media never ask push issues that appear to be negative against Obama but they will drive it in the ground if ti is the Clintons. Why not ask Obama about his stance on gun control. Why not ask Obama about how he brags of his legislation on Nuclear Plants when it was water down to nothing and the company who had the leaking Nuclear Plant is on of his Contributors. What do you suppose would happen if Hillary recieved 82% of the White vote would Jessie and Al Sharpton be flooding the air waves screaming Racism. I hope people begin to listen to the message delivered by both candidates and not become all starry eyed by those he tell us who to vote for. If Mr. Obama is for the common working men and women why is all his support coming from the wealthier and more influentical(OPRAH AND ALL THE KENNEDYS) this doesn't sound like change to me this sounds like some listen to a Senator that has been in the Capitol ever since it as built.

  • Posted By: NObama4America @ 02/06/2008 10:50:05 AM

Since a lot of people refuse to believe that Obama has ties to Islam in any way, let's deal with the facts and forget the theory: Obama belongs to a Church that pledges allegiance to Africa and which demands an adherence to a "Black Value System"; this Church's leader frequently refers to "White Arrogance" in his sermons. Now let's simply turn the tables for a minute, and substitute "Black" for "White". If ANY White Presidential Candidate was even accused of belonging to an organization that pledged allegiance to Europe, a "White Value System", which frequently referred to "Black Arrogance", how long do you think it would take for the people to put an end to that? The fact is that stupid ass White people in this Country are made to feel so guilty about a slavery, that they refuse to put an end to double standards. By the way, I'm White and I still think most White people are stupid, because I realize that not a single one of us alive today has ever owned a slave and that we have absolutely nothing to feel guilty about. "White Guilt" is what Black people use to get us to give them things for free. So listen up White people - when you wake up one day and President Obama has taken your money and given it to Black people, and he has made all of his "Change" happen, realize that YOU made this ObamaNation.

Sometime it takes a diaster to fix one. The people that say that they are not racist are the ones that seems to stay on that broken record, stop talking about it and help do something about it. You sound like a future fighter for the younger generation so keep in mind that the United States Of America is still the only country that will allow people to speak their mind without going to jail for it. If you have never heard Obama state that he was a Muslim, then why label him as one. I've heard one of his speech's and he did not say that he was a Muslim. But then again if he was a Muslim what difference should it make? Predjuice comes in more than color.

YOU CALL YOURSELF A CHRISTAN SHAME ON YOU THE BIBLE TELLS US NOT TO JUDGE YOU DON'T KNOW ANYTHING ABOUT THIS MAN CHARACTER. HAVE YOU EVEN SAT DOWN TO TALK WITH HIM. ALL YOU HAVE IS AN OPINION AND THAT'S ALL WE ALL HAVE. THE BOTTOM LINE IS THIS, ALL WE HAVE IS HILLARY AND OBAMA WORD THAT THEY WILL MAKE CHANGE BUT, WE KNOW THAT ONCE THEY ENTER THE WHITE HOUSE SOME PROMISES ARE NOT GOING TO MATERALIZE ALL WE CAN DO IS HOPE AND PRAY THAT WHOMEVER IS CHOSEN AS THE NEXT PRESIDENT WILL DO HE/SHE JOB AND DO WHAT IS BEST FOR THE PEOPLE OF THE UNITED STATES STATE OF AMERICA.

HOWEVER, WE HAPPEN TO HAVE A PRESIDENT IN OFFICE WHO HAVE PRETTY MUCH DESTROYED THIS ECONOMY ALL FOR THE SAKE OF THE RICH. No one should own no one , slavery is in the past leave it in the past white people are and have been paying for what happened in the past , all the the younger generations keep say slavery an being opressed they were not even alive then. Ther are so many affirmative action laws in america for jobs and other things, and it should be fair but equal ttreatment for all people , days of slavery will never die as long as it keeps being brought up the media loves it it make them money they could care less about any race, lets all get along and trerat every body the way god intended.

You are a racist and I agree you should admit and then move on. You cannot comment on how a black person should feel considering you have never been black a day in your life. You are white, so you dont know how black people feel and should feel. I am a black woman, and I take a huge offense to you saying that black people are trying to get a freebie. The fact of the matter is that black people were forced into slavery and the United States has not given us anything. Every other enslaved people has gotten something but us. So get over yourself, and off of Obama. Deal with your own racist sad views

SUCH IGNORANCE ON YOUR PART FIRST OF ALL BLACK PEOPLE ARE NOR HATEFUL BY NATURE AND FOR THE MOST PART BLACKS ARE MORE OPEN TO CHANGE THEN SOME WHITE FOLKS IF IT WAS LEFT UP TO WHITE FOLKS THE CHANGE WOULD BE TO PUT BLACKS AND EVERY OTHER MINORITY IN CHAINS.

So let me understand you position...it is okay to vote for a person that not only put our country in jeopardy with this so called "terrorist threat', but placed our men and women...white, black, hispanic, asian in a war that we should've have never been involved in. Oh, not to mentioned...his keen since of care when Katrina hit and the quickness to aid those families...white and black. Before we accuse a person of "Black Allegiance", one should review the past and research what has happened and how we got to where we are today. I'm not saying that Obama is perfect and I don't think he is saying that due to know one being perfect, but would you rather risk going with a person that has the same platform as the present President or one who is trying to bring change such at Hilary and Obama. They both are trying to do something good for our Nation...let's give one of them a chance.

Comment: WHO cares????? This whole process stinks. Clinton is an ugly broad who talks about her experience. WHAT EXPERIENCE??? She sucked up to the country after her husband cheated on her and played the "scroned woman" role very well. Why? Because SHE wanted to use Bill-doh to get to where she is now. He used her ... that's bad. She's using him ... and suddenly she has EXPERIENCE? Yeah, right ... she and jerked off New York residents to get to the Senate. By the by, you DO remember her "sudden" wealth "experience" back in Arkansas, right??? And who's voting for HER? Chicks .... and why? Anatomy 101 folks .... 'cause it sure as heck ain't her 'experience'.

Obama is a Muslim and a black. So what does THAT tell you about the future of the white man?
CHANGE? Oh, I can only imagine the change HE's seeking. When was the last time you saw the National Association for the Advancement of White People? How aobut the National Organization of Men? What about White History Month? And why is it that no one ... absolutely no one is addressing his Muslim heritage [a'la the middle name Hussein] ????? And who's voting for him? Overwhelmingly the support is from people of color ... why? It sure as heck ain't the promise of a good change, now is it?

Yeah, right .... like we should really care about either one. Silly Hilly who has experience in swwitching her positions [oh, Hilly ... who voted IN FAVOR of the the Iraq war?] OR Obama ... the articulate, likable Muslim bamboozler who really hasn't much to say about the future other than he'll "change" it.

Go ahead ... rant about what you perceive as my ignorance in my thoughts, or bias, or sexism, or racism, or whatever. But in the process, consider this .... IF CONDOLEZA RICE WERE ON THE BALLOT, I'D VOTE FOR HER IN A HEARTBEAT! So stick that in your racist, sexist blowhole!

Senator Obama cannot possibly dictate those who are already in the House and the Senate to "unite" and approve his ways of bringing "change" to United States of America when he becomes the president. Politics has always been divisive and and that is why we have "campaigns" and we vote based on our differences. Republicans and Democrats in the House and Senate will not start holding hands and crossing this so-called "bridge to the 21st. century" only because Senator Obama tells them to do so. These representatives have their own political agendas, special interest ties and support bases and they will not disappear overnight on 20th January 2009.

Uniting voters who desperately need some inspirational speeches after 8 years of enduring the Bush Administration to stand up and cheer for you is one thing. Getting republican and democratic representatives in the house and senate to pass bills and make laws and listen to you and support your initiatives requires a totally set of skills and criteria.

Voters need to assess whether this country needs a democratic preacher to lead, or a democratic fighter to lead. The image of a perfect candidate to unite this country that you perceive comes from the craftsmanship of American media outlets and the candidate's own inspirational speeches given from a stage high above the ground. However, do these speeches and does this image give you insights and indepth look into this candidate's character? What kinds of changes is he inspired to bring to this country? Are those changes going to bring resilience to the economay, security to our jobs, strength to the national security, effectiveness to our foreign policies, friendliness to the environment, and advances to science and technology? What are those changes any way? When you cross this bridge to the 21st century, what will be our destination? Has anyone found out answers to these questions. Please share because I'm curious what this "movement" is all about. I have no clue at the moment.

He can get Republicans to work with him because he respects them as human beings and patriots even if their politics are misguided. He can get Republicans to work with him because he doesn't HATE them simply for what they believe, no matter how whacked their beliefs are.

      • Posted By: Eudemon @ 02/06/2008 3:55:34 PM

The questions to you are "Do republicans share your personal opinions and will they agree to work with him? Maybe you know Senator Obama very well because you spoke with such a conviction on his character. Do you know those republicans well enough to make the assessment that they will work with him because they like him as a sincere kind honest humban being?"

I'm sorry for mistakenly referring to this bridge as the bridge to the "21st. century." We are already in the 21st century, and Senator Obama's phrase is the "bridge to the future." I apologize for my mistake.

Concerning the religion of Senator Obama: I thought we lived in a country where we were tolerant of all races and of all religions? I do not think that gender, race, or religion should be an issue in this election, and for those voters who make it an issue I honestly feel sorry for you. If we elect/ or don't elect a president based on any of these issues what does it say about our country other than we are hypocrites who claim to be open minded and tolerant and are NOT. Who cares what senator Obama's name is, open your mind, living in paranoia and intolerance is no way to live at all. If we want change to happen then we have our chance right now! We have the power to change our nation and the world, why can't people see that?

Whty does the media hate the Clintons so much. Obama keeps saying he is for the working and middle class but all his support is from the wealthier voters. I wonder how long it would take for Jeeie and Al Sharpton to be on T.V. yellign and screaming RACIST remarks if Hillary was getting 82% of the White Votes as Obama is getting from the Black Community. Why does the media not push Obama on the issues of GUN CONTROL and his watered down bill on Nuclear Plant regulations that he takes great pride in. Come on you NEWS MEDIA PEOPLE and ask the real questions.

The media isn't biased against Clinton. It's Journalism 101, people!! The word "news" is the plural of "new." As in, things that are new. Obama is new. Obama is a STORY, by definition. The underdog making a comeback against the establishment. It's that simple. No conspiracy. Clinton, by definiton, is not news because she's been a household name since the early 90s.
