youSenator Obama cannot possibly dictate those who are already in the House and the Senate to "unite" and approve his ways of bringing "change" to United States of America when he becomes the president. Politics has always been divisive and and that is why we have "campaigns" and we vote based on our differences. Republicans and Democrats in the House and Senate will not start holding hands and crossing this so-called "bridge to the 21st. century" only because Senator Obama tells them to do so. These representatives have their own political agendas, special interest ties and support bases and they will not disappear overnight on 20th January 2009.
Uniting voters who desperately need some inspirational speeches after 8 years of enduring the Bush Administration to stand up and cheer for you is one thing. Getting republican and democratic representatives in the house and senate to pass bills and make laws and listen to you and support your initiatives requires a totally set of skills and criteria.
Voters need to assess whether this country needs a democratic preacher to lead, or a democratic fighter to lead. The image of a perfect candidate to unite this country that you perceive comes from the craftsmanship of American media outlets and the candidate's own inspirational speeches given from a stage high above the ground. However, do these speeches and does this image give you insights and indepth look into this candidate's character? What kinds of changes is he inspired to bring to this country? Are those changes going to bring resilience to the economay, security to our jobs, strength to the national security, effectiveness to our foreign policies, friendliness to the environment, and advances to science and technology? What are those changes any way? When you cross this bridge to the 21st century, what will be our destination? Has anyone found out answers to these questions. Please share because I'm curious what this "movement" is all about. I have no clue at the moment.
